The Queen Is Dead
The SmithsI never dislike the Smiths, but it does all run together for me. Fairly clever lyrics, and I certainly see the impact on alternative music.

Didn't hate it.
It was fine. One or two jams.
I'm going to give it 4. Doesn't have any edge. It's not passive, it is aggressive, but it doesn't bite.
Didn't make it through. Timing wasn't great.
Very solid ambient. Would listen again.
Liked it better than Fatboy Slim. Too long.
V lame.
This was fine. I won't listen to it again on purpose.
Will listen again. 3.5
V solid. Liked it a lot. Will pursue further.
Almost went with the 4 cause Venus in Furs, but I convinced myself in the end.
Not bad. Will revisit.
Really great. Didn't stick around for the end.
Not gonna be my fave Boss album.
You know, fuck Dire Straits.
Liked it fine, would've probably liked it more at the time
No thank you.
Got some bangers, pretty bloated though.
Will listen to more, great debut.
Imagine my horror as I realized I once had this album downloaded to my parents' PC, through Napster I'm sure. I didn't know better then. I do now.
Is it fucked up to give this a two? It's fine. I like Joni. I do. This just didn't do it.
Like, one too many songs. Otherwise tops.
I'm glad these guys are doing their thing, but jesus christ
I would have enjoyed it far more with less organ. Definitely has an audience, it's just not me.
Would rather the originals.
Rock solid.
Solid easy listening. Respectable man-with-a-guitar old school country music.
Enjoyable early punk rock record without a whole lot to say. Seemed derivative, but I'm no expert. The single was catchy.
Held up surprisingly well for the first full listen in probably 20 years. Surprised to give it a 3.
I don't think I get it but I wish I did. Instrumentals are fantastic.
Really enjoyed this one, especially the first half. Intricate, well produced authentic folk rock.
I never dislike the Smiths, but it does all run together for me. Fairly clever lyrics, and I certainly see the impact on alternative music.
Do not care for, didn't finish. Prefer Jeff Buckley.
Better than the last one (George Michael), still pretty straightforward. Would give 2.5 and listen again without being mad about it.
This rules.
Enjoyed the listen. Good intro to early hip hop for someone who knows next to nothing.
Boo. If there are somehow two Steely Dan albums on this list, they could have just cut UT down to Can't Buy A Thrill. If there aren't two, this is the album you went with?
Definite 3.5, will listen again
Not for me! Musicianship seems to be there and I'm sure someone likes it.
I've always enjoyed listening to Fela Kuti, but the catalog was too intimidating. This was a good pointer on where to start. Will listen again.
Great Bobby D album, got it all - folk, rock, songs about lost love, "story songs," and some good ol' eff you tongue--in-cheek diatribes.
Intro to Janice was a beat up Cheap Thrills vinyl I played on a Brother turntable/radio/8-track 20 years past its prime. I'm glad it went down that way, but I'm also glad to listen to the Legacy version of Pearl now with high quality sound. A classic for more than one reason.
This is good! Almost too folky but not quite.
Not my thing, hard to rate.
So I accidentally listened to Born in the USA, which I'm going to rate. Obviously can't argue with The Boss. Mainly thought about Boomers and their ironic love of Bruce.
I prefer S&G, but the real issue is all I can think about when listening is how many Boomers who were probably cool suck now.
"McCulloch has cited...Leonard Cohen and particularly David Bowie as influences for his work. He has described Cohen's song "Suzanne" as "the perfect lyric with the perfect melody" and Bowie as "so influential and the greatest solo artist of the 20th Century in any walk of art" is something I found on Wikipedia and that's exactly what this album sounds like. Almost a 4.
Classic.
Will fall asleep to again!
An all-time fave.
Dancier than I realized, not my style but clearly solid musically and culturally notable.
I will make if all the way through, but I don't want to.
I can't imagine the second hour held anything more than the first did.
Apparently there are somehow two Steely Dan albums on this list. The only reason it's a 3 and not a 2 is that this would be a banger if it was a punk rock album. Speed it up, cut the production, get real with the vocals and bam. Punk album of the decade.
Weird. I dint know if it stands alone.
4.5 Just the tiniest bit of filler that, ironically, keeps it from being on par with Abbey Road.
Classic jams. Glad I listened. Will listen again.
Sure.
3.5 really.
This is very bad.
Another club album, and a pretty good one. Just not for me.
My new favorite 70s punk band. Will listen again. 3.5
I don't have anything interestimg to add to the general discourse re: Eric Clapton.
Iconic but I would never play it, for reasons both sonic and cultural. But I mean, it's great.
The Night Tripper indeed!
Used to be on my heavy rotation. Solid all the way through, and a legit concept album.
I like Tom Waits, but this is just a record of him talking.
I enjoyed this all the way through way more than I thought I would. I get it now.
I can't imagine I have anything valuable to add to the conversation.
This sucked. Forgettable singer-songwriter self-serious fluff.
I don't know how Bob met the Band, I realized that while I was listening.
I don't even really like Pink Floyd, but you can't argue with it.
I didn't know about this album and I'm glad I di now. Will listen again, would be a four if they weren't all clearly derivative of a Black music, etc.
This isn't my genre and it didn't pull me in.
Seemed indicative of the genre, pretty good for what it is.
Of the three I've now heard, Funeral is still my #1. This one lacked the punch.
In my opinion, the best combination on a studio album of everything Bob's got. Gates of Eden almost pulls it to a 4.5, but It's Alright Ma makes up for it.
Way too long, a couple very solid tracks.
Honestly, it's maudlin and not particularly musical.
Didn't make it all the way through. Pop ballads. They're fine.
I did not hate this like I thought I would. Definite 2.75.
I'd rather listen to Lana Del Ray
Not my favorite live Bob by a long shot, but a good snapshot of a moment in time. 3.5
Really enjoyed this, glad I listened!!
Mainstay on my rotation. Pithy perfect pop music.
Pleasant surprise! Will add to my ambient options.
Very, very close to a 3, then that last song hit. Wtf guys.
Only a 3 for the number of times I thought "huh, I didn't know this was a Blur song."
I will listen again, I think it will take a few for me to get it.
Top 3 LC albums.
Classic
How tf is this an hour long.
I want to go higher than a 2 but it's pretty forgettable. Single in a banger though.
This is good! If I had heard it 20 years ago I think it would have been a fave.
Didn't want to give him the airtime, so didn't actually listen. A 2, but only for the role it played in pop culture.
I'd rate the documentary higher than the album itself. Sex-crazed Kiedis hasn't aged well and it isn't going to get better, plus the instrumentals overall don't make up for what's lacking lyrically.
Meh
Sinatra does bossa nova? I don't know.
Liked this more than expected, will listen again. Reminded me for a moment of that Lemon Jelly album I like.
I don't know, it's not for me. Didn't make it through.
