Amy Winehouse
5/5
There are songs on this album that absolutely make you understand why Amy winehouse is an icon such a limited career. It's impossible to listen to it without knowing how it all turns out

Ash
3/5
This is fine. I don't know enough about this band too could have been contacts there's some songs that are really fun and some are doing something interesting

Buena Vista Social Club
4/5
Great music, though not my preferred genre. Catchy. Would be great background music.
Marvin Gaye
5/5
DJ Shadow
4/5
Influential only a couple songs that really pop
Solomon Burke
2/5
The songs, other than Cry To Me, are fine. Solomon songs the hell out of them, but can't quite elevate the material to anything special.
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Mick Jagger is mostly unintelligible. His already fuzzy elocution is, for some reason, mixed below not only the harmonica and guitar but also the background singers. Keith Richards guitar riffs carry the weight.
None of the hits, none of my favorite stones songs, still somehow a really good album.
The White Stripes
5/5
A legitimately great rock album. Equal parts of the Beatles, Nirvana, rolling Stones and The clash; but still distinctively Jack White.
CHVRCHES
3/5
Good synth pop album. didn't strike me as spectacular but maybe just caught me on the wrong day.
The Specials
3/5
Lots of 70s sounds mixed with ska and some proto-hip hop. A fun listen, but not sure I'll come back to it
Simon & Garfunkel
5/5
I was prepared to complain about this being their second best album. But three listens through... I still think it's their second best, but it's pretty damn great.
Otis Redding
5/5
Otis is great. His voice makes these covers something special.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
4/5
I'm not generally a huge fan of southern rock but this album surprised me. A few hits I already knew, some great album tracks, great guitar and surprisingly strong vocals throughout.
Robbie Williams
3/5
This album is fine. Angels is great, Clean is fun and trippy, the rest of it is just okay
Patti Smith
2/5
Definitely important, you can here the influences on rock music for the next 30 years. Amazing voice/emotion/power. A little too experimental for my taste. Glad she made it, I am unlikely to choose to listen to it.
Tracy Chapman
5/5
Absolutely wonderful album. Great songwriting and emotional vocals. I could listen this everyday
Dr. Dre
5/5
Classic. This is the beginning of hop hop as we know it. So much misogyny and homophobia, but if you can set that aside, it still holds up.
BTW, Lady of Rage should have been a star.
Jimmy Smith
3/5
Good, but not my style
Soul II Soul
1/5
Overall, not anything special. They do touch Greatness on Back to Life (However do you want me), but other than that forgettable
LCD Soundsystem
4/5
Great can't, not my favorite album of theirs
Solange
3/5
Not my style. This may be great but I have no framework to judge it
Joy Division
5/5
This album is rad! I don't know that I ever would have listened to it on my own but I did really like it
Electric Light Orchestra
5/5
The 70:s-est of albums. A really good vibe with influences of Beatles and Pink Floyd in The who. First third of the record are available bops. Some solid album tracks as n Mr. Blue sky
New Order
3/5
Important album by an important band. But their best work (Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle) is not this album and some of the bands they influence do what they do better
The Darkness
2/5
A perfectly acceptable album by a band I don't like. Somewhere between Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Most of this album is least less obnoxious than "I believe in a thing called love".
Roni Size
2/5
An hour and eighteen minutes of dum and bass feels like punishment. This is good music, I just need WAY less of it.
Elton John
5/5
Great album. I knew most of the songs, but totally enjoyable listen.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
For a lot of bands this would have been their magnum opus or Simon and Garfunkel it is just average. Some amazing songs overall really well put together album I was not expecting this album to sound like a proto '90s alternative but you can definitely hear where the influences it had on the Goo Dolls and Gin blossoms
Jeru The Damaja
4/5
This is an album that I was not on my radar at all. hard to put it in context, it feels old school even for coming out of 94. but really picks up steam in the second half.
Jungle Brothers
3/5
I probably would have enjoyed this more if my last album hadn't also been 90s hip Hop this is the most "golden age of hip hop" album I've ever heard
Oasis
4/5
Really wish this was "what's the story" but on its own merits, it's good
Pink Floyd
5/5
0 my favorite album by a band that has several masterpieces and aguably no bad ones
Supertramp
1/5
Everything on this album has been done better later sometimes by the same band. Honestly don't understand how this made the list
Stan Getz
4/5
This is good, but not my genre
Einstürzende Neubauten
4/5
Anyone can make a guitar sound like music but to make music out of what I can only assume is someone crinkling a ball of tin foil in front of an oscillating fan while someone else beats on a street sign with two group handles is truly art. This album reminds me of tool, nine inch nails, and iThe prodigy and it is fairly enjoyable listen to what is clearly just noise
Pink Floyd
5/5
Absolute classic
The Temptations
3/5
The temptations are amazing this album is only very good
Radiohead
4/5
I've never really given this album a chance before, it's really really good.maybe not my favorite of theirs but you can see the seeds of everything else they grow into.
Sufjan Stevens
4/5
Great album really good listen slightly too long
k.d. lang
3/5
Much more traditional album than I would have expected. Constant Craving is still a bop.
Beth Orton
2/5
Maybe I can't appreciate it but I did not find anything special about this album
Bob Dylan
3/5
It's about Dylan album. It's exactly what you expect like rolling Stone is one of he's most listenable songs. The whole album is enjoyable
Nick Drake
3/5

A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
I didn't think I liked A tribe called quest I always thought they were boring this album was a really fun listen

3/5
Starts off super strong, but then regresses to just a very good album

1/5
I guess this is alt country but it is neither country enough or alt enough to be interesting to me.
Alanis Morissette
5/5
Great album. Really indicative of '90s pop rock
Boston
3/5
This album is good. Not great not bad just good. Moresongs on there that I liked and I was expecting
Ash
3/5
This is fine. I don't know enough about this band too could have been contacts there's some songs that are really fun and some are doing something interesting
Brian Eno
3/5
This album it's really good background listen ing and I know there are people get a lot more out of it than I did

This is good but I've had too much experimental / instrumental music recently and couldn't get all the way through it
Kraftwerk
5/5
Really good. Great influence to other things but also good in its own right
T. Rex
3/5
This was fine. No impression on me at all.
Pere Ubu
1/5
Vocals make this nearly unlistenable they might be doing something interesting sonically, but I can't even tell.
Mj Cole
2/5
Drum and bass, r and b. nothing special
U2
4/5
Not their best album but still good end to end
Green Day

Portishead
5/5
The best trip hop has to offer
Joan Baez
3/5
Powerful singer, only okay songs
The Band
4/5
Very 70s. Overall good, but tears of Rage and the weight stand out.
Lambchop
1/5
Who is this music for? Operatic Alt fusion soul with William shatner Style country lyrics. I literally don't get it.
Run-D.M.C.
4/5
Great album holding up really well. Need to circle back to it at least one more time.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5/5
Way better than I would have expected. A good mix of genres and some great harmonies and guitar work

2/5
Great vocals. Weird musical choices. Overly sex focused.
The Doors
4/5
First listen through I thought this album was only okay. But I find myself going back to parts of it more.
Def Leppard
4/5
. This is probably as good as hair metal gets. The song's been suck my head since I finished it
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
I like Nick cave a lot more in his murder ballad mode, some good stuff on here.
He has a way of sounding both 70s and '90s at the same time.
Deep Purple
3/5
This album helps me to understand why people like deep purple. The double live album is maybe more than I needed.
Booker T. & The MG's
4/5
Great album. Almost feels like they are making music that's meant to be sampled
3/5
The Avalanches
2/5
Pleasant noise
Massive Attack
5/5
Great album. Not as good as mezzanine but that's a very high bar
The Rolling Stones
4/5
First half of the album is as good as any you'll ever hear. Second half is still really strong, but feels like a letdown
Queen
4/5
Before this album I would have said Queen was the greatest band without a great album. I actually think this out was pretty great
The Yardbirds
2/5
Contemporaries about the Beatles and rolling Stones ends of the doors but lacking their charisma. This album made no impact on me at all
James Brown
3/5
I Love James Brown. I am sure this performance was electric in person, but this album is not

Good but too long.
You're here Keith Moon really giving up exceptional performance
Michael Jackson
4/5
Amazing. You can hear him reach some of the highw he will get to more consistently on Bad and Thriller
The Mamas & The Papas
3/5
Great harmonies. California Dreaming is as evocative as songs get. Probably not circling back to this any time soon, but it is was a good listen.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
3/5
Nice instrumental, it exceptional
Leonard Cohen
3/5
World class lyrics, his voice is good but not great. He really makes you feel the emotions somehow.
The Velvet Underground
3/5
Is this album important: certainly. Is it good: probably. Is it a fun listen: no.
Marvin Gaye
3/5
This album doesn't hold a candle to what's going on but what does?
Belle & Sebastian
4/5
Sounds like Velvet Underground and Nock Drake has a baby, in a good way. Chill. Foundation of hipster pop. You can also here a lot of what Sufjan does here.
Buzzcocks
3/5
This was fine. It may have been more impactful when it came out but it's just a 90s album to me now
k.d. lang
2/5
Kd lang singing country and Western songs is not something I need.
She's a great singer, but doing a weak Patsy Cline
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Great groove. Isaac Hayes has one of the most recently recognizable voices in the world. These songs are definitely way too long but they're all good
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
4/5
Great songs. Take five is his catchy of an instrumental tune as has ever been written
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Pop punk but More punk than pop. Unfortunately, most of the album doesn't live up to the high point of Maps.

4/5
Great album. I always forget they started off as a great rock band before becoming whatever they were on mellon colllie
Queen Latifah
3/5
Definitely of its time, but still solid.
Beastie Boys
3/5
I can appreciate this in a historical context but to me it really just sounds like someone doing what Run DMC does but not as good as they do it.
They are doing some really fun things with instrumentation
I'll be exceptions are fight for your right to party and no sleep to Brooklyn.
Air
3/5
Got pumpkin David Bowie with a splash of Pink Floyd

3/5

I love Joni Mitchell's voice. Her song writing is wonderful but some of these are super dense
The Smiths
4/5
None of their best songs but still a very good album
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
