The myth, the legend! I'd heard of this album so many times prior, and as an album it really lived up to that expectation honestly. That saaaaid... there is not (at least, on initial listen) a lot of songs I would listen to outside of the album's context, which is pretty much the only reason it's not a 5. I don't listen to whole albums too often, so I do like to have that ability! Apologies to the vision, but it was really good to be fair.

I'm glad the rolling stones remembered they could play good music! Unfortunately this falls right in line with a lot of other samey-sounding okay rock (or adjacent) albums.

It's REALLY good. Not quite that 5, but an incredibly strong 4. I like just about every song here.

Okay on a relisten I think this album is prettty coooool. They have a sort of energy to them that puts them above other 3-star okay-sounding rock bands I've heard so far.

I liked the sound of this quite a lot! Has to be one of the best albums from the decade I've heard so far at least. It unfortunately fits into that 4-star slot just because I'm not sure how much I'd listen to it on a regular basis, kinda like The Wall.

Okay, you know, I'm not usually big on these jazz albums, and I wouldn't listen to this very casually I think, but this is a really fucking solid jazz album. Cool stuff here, very lively, nice motifs, just good stuff.

One of those reminders there's good country out there! Not the sort of thing I'd listen to at random, but it makes for a really good album and just absolutely solid listening experience. Really hard to beat Cash when it comes to country stuff.

God damn. When I saw this long-ass album runtime I was already dreading it, but it won me over like instantly. It is some really good groovin drum n bass in here. My only real issue with it is that I wouldn't listen to it or its tracks very much on account of their length, but damn. It's real good otherwise.

Okay this album is actually fire. I think this is the most this genre, or maybe specifically this type of metal, has ever actually stuck and resonated with me? Ah, this album is not really my cup of tea. It's just too acoustic for me, although I can tell he's doing work with that harmonica, and just overall compared to some other country/folk stuff I've heard thus far. Some tracks I would nearly like enough to listen to more often, but just aaaaren't quite there. I can tell he's good at his work though, and the songwriting is solid, which is why he gets a 3 here where I'd usually dish out a 2.

This lives up to the hype VERY solidly. This is something that could easily be a 5 in the future, it's just not right this second because I'm not sure that I'd listen to most of these too regularly... But regardless, as an album it is very solid. It's cool seeing the poem build up, as well recurring lyrics or phrases, and of course Kendrick is just so good at his craft, god damn. Producers on this are also insane.

Yeah I enjoyed my time here with Illmatic! Nas' lyricism is very good stuff, all accompanied by groovin beats and just a generally good vibe.

Stephin, Your Album Is Too Long I respect the gimmick, but it's really, really samey... and it's not even that good of a samey! I say this as someone who listened to the entire Gershwin Songbook, I did not feel like listening to all of this.

Mmm it's okay! I wasn't super hot on Steely Dan to begin with when I first heard Aja, but this is definitely not as good as that. That said, still fairly groovy and not bad!

Really cool and good! It's very apparent why they became so popular and influential, this is a lot of really solid stuff. The only reason for not being a 4 really is that I wouldn't listen to it much on its own, but it's damn close.

You know what? Usually this genre blends together for me pretty badly, but somehow Def Leppard managed to penetrate through that. I ended up liking about half the songs here (and the rest are okay). I think I'd chalk it up to their delivery of certain lines, sometimes that alone piques my interest in a song!

This is actually neater than I expected! My only real issue is it's sort of unlistenable outside of the album, but I did enjoy a good chunk of it.

Much like Apple Venus Volume 1, I quite enjoyed my time with this album! Although I think I found Apple Venus to have more tracks closer to my taste.

Still a very cool listen! Doves' first album Lost Souls gripped me harder and quickly, too, but their second one is still extremely solid! I wonder if I'd like this more if it was the first album I heard from them. Regardless, good stuff.

Extremely solid four, great stuff! I'd only known it for Roads so I was hoping it'd be a little more consistently on that level, but it's still full of good stuff. Ultimately it is just a bit subdued for my tastes.

Unnnnfortunately I just really don't vibe that well with it. It has some instrumentation that is cool to my ear in the beginning, and then sparsely throughout, but that's really it.

This is like a 3.5 or something, realistically. It's starting to click more after the second listen, but overall it's just... a bit too long, both in album length and track length, to really stick there. A pretty good sound though, even if it sometimes blends!

This was really nice! It feels like a peak of this genre in the 60s, which seems to make sense given its influence? Starts off with the very good and classic Wouldn't It Be Nice, and then to me it's okay-pleasant for a while. But then Let's Go Away For Awhile comes in, a track with a novel mood for the album and signalling a change to some great stuff! I could see this potentially being a 5 at some point in the future, but for right now I'm just not as interested in that first half.

Apt album name! And god, it really IS close to that 5. I think this is my favorite sonic youth album thus far (having listened to Goo and Washing Machine). It has a really excellent sound and cool songwriting and delivery. My only note against it is it feels a bit too long! There's also some slow points earlier on that aren't my thing. But really good stuff.

Okay you know what, yeah I'll give this the 4. It IS very long, but it remains surprisingly pretty consistently solid throughout! I liked quite a few tracks more than I expected.

This might be my favorite prog rock album I've heard so far. Not usually a big fan of the genre just because lengthy songs are tough and don't lend themselves to listening more frequently, but! This album is really cool! It is maybe a bit on the long side, but... Very high 4. One of those possible 5s in the future.

Okay, after a relisten I do definitely get the appeal now! His lyric-writing is pretty great all around in here. Admittedly this genre still isn't my thing and the only song I really particularly vibed with was Bob Dylan's 115th Dream on account of it being very amusing, buuuut this is probably close to the best of this style for me!

Okay you know what, yeah. The hype is completely understandable. I wouldn't necessarily listen to all of this so often right now, but I can only imagine this would blow your mind in 1969. There's a lot of great tracks on here, some phenomenal segues especially in the second half too. My favorites that I'd listen to independently were Come Together, Something, and Carry That Weight, but I have to give a shout-out to Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window because that transition rips.

Pretttty cool! There's a lot of cool shit in here, also was amused by Exorcist jumpscare. Some stuff like the guitar showing up around 6 minutes of part one is sick as hell. Overall this is really too long for me to listen to on any regular basis (and part two has some oddities...), but it's really solid.

Ahhh Neil Young just doesn't do it for me! I like some bits and pieces here and there, like the intro and outro tracks and some other parts, but overall it just does not stick around in my head much. Not a bad listen, and neat lyrics, but it just ends up feeling okay.

Very COOL album! The songs I liked I did really like, but it does sorta blend together around the middle. I think it may be a little too long? Favorites being "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo", "Quartier nord", and "Caroline"
