The Cars
The CarsI dunno, i feel like I should like the Cars more than I do, but its always just milquetoast to me.

I get that this is a metal classic. I just don't really like it. A couple of the songs I didn't hate, and one or two of them i sorta liked. Sorry, Frank. just not what i want to listen to
Couple of the songs I have heard before and like and it was cool to listen to the new ones. It gets to be where they all sound the same though at the end of the album. Still, love the driving riffs and bass.
Nice music to have on in the background. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but it isn't something that I would listen to over and over
Admittedly, I do not really listen to jazz often or know how to evaluate it. It was good, pleasant to listen to, and i would enjoy it if I heard it again
Primed to have my ratings be verrrry different than Jake's, but I love some of these songs and they are pillars of American music of the 20th century. The recording is tight and harmonies are great. Is Brian Wilson one of the five most influential American musicians - I think so. Do You Want to Dance, probably my favorite track, but several good ones
It is pretty incredible that this is their debut album and has so many of their iconic songs. I think there is a pretty big drop off from the 3-4 big hits to the other 4 songs on the album. Biggest surprise for me is Tuesday's Gone. I don't hear that as often, but that might have been my favorite track.
It's fine. REM not my favorite, but perfectly cromulent 90's radio fodder
i never listened to or even heard of this band. it sorta reminded me of elvis costello. I liked Common People, but then it started to all sound the same. The best bits were the driving beats and some of the choruses. i'm not a huge fan of the breathy talking bits. Pencil Skirt was pretty creepy with the lyrics
I just don't really like jam bands and never have. Live albums of jam bands is sorta torture for me. Only part i liked was at the end of one of the songs where they did a play on Joy to the World
Only realized 70% of the way through the album that the band wasn't British. Pretty interesting album I thought - at first, it just seemed like decent classic rock radio fodder, but it was funky and I probably will listen to it again. Love the drums
i'm sure this is some influential album and marks some important steps in music history. but i thought it sucked and wanted it to end. Only redeeming song was Dink's Song, which was a nice soul number and the dude didn't sing or play on
I mean, it is one of the best albums of all time. Not a whole lot more to say. Thriller, Beat It and Billie Jean in a row is great, but there isn't a bad song on the album
Particularly liked Trick of the Light. Never heard of this band before, but I quite like this. Sounds like the soundtrack to a lot of 80s movies. I'll be listening to this album again and trying out some of their other albums
You can definitely hear the roots of punk rock in here. Feels like we have had a lot of similar albums recently and this on was fine
every song sounded the same and they all annoyed me
Shamefully, I have never really listened to Gorillaz, despite generally knowing about them. I actually liked this better than I thought I would. Some of the styles were not really my favorite, but overall it was enjoyable. Slow Country was definitely the highlight for me.
this sounds like something that Nate had on at the chateau during the 2005 era. i don't hate it and don't particularly like it.
this is at various points awful, forgettable, and embarrassing.
These songs are fun, and his voice and playing are quite impressive, but I really enjoy the composition of all of the songs. definitely an enjoyable listen
I loved this. I don't listen to the blues often, but it was soo good. Loved the guitar licks and his voice
This is fine background music, but doesn't really do anything for me.
Okay, I get why others hate it, but its funky and weird and I kinda liked it. The vocals are strange, but i like a lot of the melodies and little musical phrases. I'm not going to go back and listen to this a bunch, but I can appreciate it.
This is cool. I haven't listened to it before, but it was funky and fun.
This was a fun listen because while I knew the two big songs on the album, I had not listened to the bulk of it before. My favorite of the other songs was You and I
this is an album where the hits are very good, and the other songs are rather forgettable, with the exception of Gonna Keep on Tryin. The vocals are good as you would expect, but it all sorta starts sounding the same
This album really benefits from listening to it as a complete whole. Can You Kick It is obviously a huge hit, but the whole album flows well. Love the understated beats punchy vocals. Luck of Lucien was a new song to me, but I quite liked it
I like Van Man a lot, but i prefer the studio albums of these songs. Into the Mystic is my pick of the bunch
Debris was the highlight of the album for me. Rod Stewart always seems like a bit of a punch line, but the vocals were good on this album, and I would listen to it again
There's a reason this is considered one of the best albums of all time. Everything about it is great
I've probably listened to this album 15-20 times straight through. U2 is one of my favorite bands, but this album is not one of the top couple favorites for me. Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day and 40 are all good and in the normal concert rotation. Two Hearts Beat as One is probably my other favorite from here. This definitely has the early U2 vibe where the rhythm section drives most of the song. You can hear the punk/Ramones influence here still
This album just wasn't really for me. Its the standard classic rock you heard on the radio growing up and had on in the background. Perfectly fine but not memorable.
I liked this better than the other PJ Harvey album, but it's just not my favorite type of music. I could listen to one or two songs and sorta jam to it, but after a bit, the screamy vocals and abrasive guitar just makes me want to turn it off
The album grew on me the more I listened to it. It sounds like a lot of 90s alt rock, which i generally like, but i'm not sure that it was particularly memorable
Le Freak is good, but disco isn't really my thing. The beats and grooves are good and it would certainly be danceable, but in general this album isn't one I will listen to again
I wasn't prepared to like this album as much as i did. I know that Iggy Pop and this bad are considered the originators of punk, but I thought there were influences of all different types of music in here. you heard some classic punk rock guitar riffs, but then some guitar sounds that felt like they were from the 50s. at one point the vocals called to mind Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. just a fun listen
I like this album, but I'll admit that to me it feels more "important" than enjoyable. There is a lot going on that I don't have the musical chops to be able to describe. Interesting instrumentation, rhythms and melodies. But I don't find myself wanting to listen over and over
I am partial towards country music in general and this is in the vein of what I like to have on in the background. I liked the warble in her voice and the straightforwardness of the songs
Not sure what the point of this album was
I liked this a lot. Never heard of the band before or any of their songs, but the interplay of instruments, electronics made a cool atmosphere
This is boring background music they have on in the dentists office
I didn't love this. It felt like they were trying to make a statement with the lyrics and just forgot to make interesting music to go along with it. It wasn't terrible, but none of the beats or rhymes were that innovative
I enjoy Radiohead, but I don't think this is one of their best albums. Not as much variety, but still a lot of interesting melodies and understated vocals
This is a strange one because I know basically all of these songs well and they have a very place specific memory (my orthodontists office), but I don't particularly like it. I kinda wish this went harder in the punk direction that it hints at
Shamefully, I had only really listened to the various Bowie songs that have been on the radio. Jean Genie was the only one from this album I knew. I think because of Space Oddity or Lets Dance, I thought I wasn't a Bowie fan, but these two albums over the past week have convinced me I need to listen to more of him and I quite like it
My Back Pages is a good tune, and I actually like the way that old albums consisted of lots of shorter songs. Most of these are well packaged and crisp and it flows well
I kept thinking that this album was a joke they were playing on us. This was terrible
I liked this album a lot less as a whole than just listening to the hits of Rage that I knew from the album or Bulls on Parade. The highlights for me are Tom Morello's guitar, which are just awesome. The wailing sound that he achieves is so good. I think the reason I didn't like the album as a whole as much as I expected to is because the non-hits feel like they mailed in the music a bit just in service of the lyrics they wanted, where some thing like Killing in the Name is more put together
This is great. Of this album, I had only really heard Fame, which honestly was one of my least favorite on the album. I love the Beatles remixes on here and will definitely come back to it. The compositions are cool and it definitely feels like a late 60s early 70s vibe
I'm glad we won the Revolutionary War so I don't have to pretend to like this
I knew Get it On, which is a great track, but I liked the whole album. To me, the guitar and the interplay of the rhythm and lead portions of it are really good. I liked the use of fuzzy distortion and then the driving beat.
What a great voice - the power, the rasp. Of the songs that are "What's Love Got to Do with It", my favorites were the opener and Private Dancer.
This was great. I listen to a lot of classical music during the work day and particularly like piano pieces (I get that this is more jazz than classical). His playing is incredible and he has some cool variations on themes throughout the piece. My only quibble, which makes this a 4 star is that there is a fair bit of background noise in the concert hall which comes through on the recording (reading after writing this tells me that is actually him making the noises while playing)
This is probably one that it is important and revolutionary, but I didn't enjoy listening to it. I can admire and respect the guitar playing, but this wasn't for me
I like Dylan a lot, and some of the songs on here are highlights (Tambourine Man, Baby Blue, Maggies Farm). It doesn't touch the heights of Blonde on Blonde or Freewheelin' from this era, but still a great album
Just not really my style. I liked Drumset, but most of the other songs on the album, i could take or leave
I liked this more than expected. it grew on me as the album went along
