Popular Reviews

Scum by Napalm Death

1) World does not need any more love songs. 2) World does not need another acoustic indy pop art bullshit album on this list. There are also too many albums from a single artist already. 3) World does not need anymore Radiohead or Radiohead on this list or Radiohead in general. You people should open up yourself to something else instead of crying about "just noise" or "scary man was screaming and growling at me in these songs".

Tapestry by Carole King

Not my kind of stuff, but nice enough. Enjoy your extra star Carole King, I know you care about the rating of a random internet music non ball knower.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company

Can't say I enjoy Janis' voice too much when she tries to force it and scream about, but the music was really good and an album very much worth of its reputation.

Bad Company by Bad Company

The middlest of the middle that ever middled. 3 of 5 somehow feels not adequate. Just general, straight up rock with a lot of word "love" thrown around the lyrics. Incredible that this is on the list, I really could have died and not listened to this and still not missed anything. At least awful albums are inspiring me to write awful stuff. This left me whelmed.

Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause

I think a lot of the reviews are unfair. Sure, this is not something any of us even could fathom to listen, but taking on the 1001 albums exercise is precisely why I myself have taken it up - to broaden my musical experiences and to listen to something that I'd never even consider searching out for myself.

Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause
Nov 04 2025

I think a lot of the reviews are unfair. Sure, this is not something any of us even could fathom to listen, but taking on the 1001 albums exercise is precisely why I myself have taken it up - to broaden my musical experiences and to listen to something that I'd never even consider searching out for myself.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Nov 05 2025

I don't know, it's just now what I'm into I guess. Piano and ballads, but there is a sense of prog rock here, albeit through the Elton filter. Title track is good, better than the hyped Tiny Dancer.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Nov 06 2025

Well, when they tell you "classic prog-rock stallwarths", they certainly fail to mention the flute, the minstrel troupe vibe and the overall feeling of a medieval fair band. I guess my expectations were not in line, and that caused a bit of a whiplash during listening. 3 feels too little, 4 seems too much, but maybe I replay the title track at some point and that kind of makes it worth it.

Nov 07 2025

This is a clear five. What a fun album! I'm a big rap fan, so it is always nice to hear music that rap producers heavily sampled from. I loved that Funkadelic leaned into rock on this one.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Nov 08 2025

This gets a 3, but I really wanted to give it a 2. I don't care for Neil Young, he can't sing, songs are boring, I don't get his appeal and it's grandpa rock, folk or whatever. Just nothing. I appreciate the band and the music, I respect that this gave us grunge, and some of the songs that went too long were actually a benefit to the whole thing since they Neil Young stopped and the music could wash away his presence. I am dreading more Neil Young on this list, it is unfathomable that he has 6 albums here. Actually, I just might skip them and listen to some of the glaring omissions this list has on the day his albums come up.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Nov 09 2025

As a big rap fan, this is of course getting a 5. Amazing music, so many recognizable samples, no wailing, I mean singing, just a spectacle all around. If I have to nitpick one thing, I do have to say that for me, Clive, the bongos are hitting almost too well, if anything. Had they dialed down the bongos and let some other instruments breathe a bit more, it could have been even better, but they're called Bongo Band after all.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Nov 10 2025

The one I was looking forward to and got all excited when I saw it pop up today. The one where I had great expectations due to its status as one of the best ever albums. The one where I had already knew one song (Fool's Gold) due to pop-culture osmosis and I kind of expected more of the same. Maybe then it's all on me due to misplaced expectations. Still good, not all-timer. Maybe it was a game-changer when it came out and nobody sounded like this. Maybe give it a spin again some time later and hopefully I'll feel different.

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Nov 11 2025

This was surprisingly good! I thought it'd be more country, more singing - nope, a lot of instrumentals, great music. I'm giving it a 5, fuck it.

Junkyard by The Birthday Party
Nov 12 2025

I'm not a Nick Cave guy, something about him was always off-putting. I don't get this appeal, but that's fine. Some of the songs here had solid music, and that's about all the positive I can muster.

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Nov 13 2025

Surprisingly good, I'd give it a half star even more if I could. Could have used a bit more variety by the end, but still pretty awesome.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 14 2025

Bruce is not for me and I never could understand his appeal. Was it one of those things that you had to be young in the 70s? Thankfully short album. I'll give it something just for cool sax moments (unexpected), and I didn't hate every song (Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out and Jungleland were fine). I'm dreading 4 more albums from him.

Homework by Daft Punk
Nov 15 2025

Obviously great. They should have at least two more albums here instead of Neil Young's 74 albums.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Nov 16 2025

I was pretty stoked when this popped up, didn't expect them on here! Only knew the songs from their previous albums when they would show videos on MTV and also knew some of Skin's solo songs - this was a great opportunity to hear a full album. Pretty good, and I'd rate it 4 or 4.5, but I'm giving it a 5 because some of the other reviews are insufferable and also we need a more varied artist list on here instead of the same Neil Young drivel.

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Nov 17 2025

This was fine, I guess it mattered more in the moment since these guys were "alternative" for their time and influenced what was going to come.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Nov 18 2025

Pretty good. More punky than I'd thought, but classic of the genre for a reason.

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents
Nov 19 2025

Weird, and in a good way. Glad that something like this is on the list, because I don't need another day of Neil Young in my life. Other reviewers gave this 1 stars because they're pretentious people who can not think outside of conventions for a single iota. This 5 star is dedicated to them.

Nov 20 2025

Not for me, Clive. This is supposedly their best one. I knew the hits from this album beforehand, didn't like them, gave album a fair chance and still didn't like them.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Nov 21 2025

Oh man, I thought I'd hate it, this is something I don't usually like. However, like a movie you don't like as it doesn't resonates with you, but you can definitely see why it could resonate with others, this was a surprisingly well spent time. This is what an exercise in 1001 albums should be.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Nov 22 2025

Kinda expected more, as this was supposedly a classic. Still, 4-5 songs I really liked, and that's enough for me to make an album worth it.

Nov 23 2025

Oh man. Not for me, Clive 6 more albums of *this*? Sings like an unholy cross of a donkey and cat is being skinned alive, and then the fucking harmonica kicks in making you feel as if someone simultaneously sodomized the poor donkey/cat with a particularly hot pepper. No amount of great lyrics can save the boring music and awful singing. This is not a fun listening experience. I guess the second half of the album was somewhat better, but still.

Bad Company by Bad Company
Nov 24 2025

The middlest of the middle that ever middled. 3 of 5 somehow feels not adequate. Just general, straight up rock with a lot of word "love" thrown around the lyrics. Incredible that this is on the list, I really could have died and not listened to this and still not missed anything. At least awful albums are inspiring me to write awful stuff. This left me whelmed.

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Nov 25 2025

OK album, very much of its time I guess, probably was big when it came out but it didn't do much for me. Fairly short, at least.

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Nov 26 2025

Didn't care much for this.

Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits
Nov 27 2025

Never cared for Tom Waits, but this was surprisingly fine. Some weird instruments and an unusual vibe to the whole thing.

Ramones by Ramones
Nov 28 2025

If this is what it took to give birth to an entire genre... I don't know.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Nov 30 2025

Fuck off Neil Young, there is too many of your appearances here. Some nice music by Crazy Horse forces me to give this more then it should have.

This album was everywhere when I was hitting adolescence. I hated the videos and the music then, and it's not much better now. The only song I actually liked is the last one on the album. U2 is not for me nor for you too. For complete nostalgia reasons that awoke the long dormant hate in me and actually made me feel something, I'm giving this a 2 instead of 1.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Dec 02 2025

Unexpectedly a fair amount of instrumentals, great vibe and very goth unlike their more poppy and polished later works. Pleasant surprise!

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Dec 03 2025

A live album? A Double live album from a guy I don't care about? Gotta be a low score right? Well, that's not what the exercise in 1001 albums is, it is keeping an open mind about stuff and giving every album a fair listen. Classic (generic) rock that it may be, this sounded amazing and musicianship was obvious.

Dec 04 2025

I love instrumental albums. I love ambient music. I do like mine with a bit of more drums or faster tempo. Is this why this didn't click? I really, really wanted to like it. Opening 20 minute track is good only in parts, the rest are fine, and the last one is the best on the album so at least it washed away the major disappointment I felt while listening.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Dec 05 2025

This has legendary status and I really expected a lot from it. Not a clear 5 for me, I guess it was ground breaking at the time. Still, holds up pretty good.

Close To You by Carpenters
Dec 06 2025

Another one of the "thought no way I'd like it" - and it turned out to be pretty good. Not necessarily my genre or years, but I gave it a fair chance it and it was nice enough.

Another Green World by Brian Eno
Dec 07 2025

Tough, I love instrumental albums, and I had high hopes for this one. Sorry.

Live / Dead by Grateful Dead
Dec 08 2025

This one was solid, glad to hear Grateful Dead finally.

Stankonia by OutKast
Dec 09 2025

It gets a 5 because I'm a big fan of OutKast, otherwise I feel they have better albums. ATLiens and Aquemini should have been on the list before Stankonia (and don't get me started on Speakerboxxx/Love Below), so give those a try if you liked this.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Dec 10 2025

Not for me, Clive. I don't think I'd like it even if i was 60s hippie with dirt on my feet and sand in my nails. Sorry Joni.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Dec 11 2025

Here's my Drew Review of this album wamp-a-la-do-da wamp-bam-boom. Musical revolution in the 50s apparently means finding a word and a name that goes with it and then slapping it on a not a fairly long song and then adding a bunch of random rhyming syllables at the end. Also, a piano in the background. Mercifully short and influence on the decades to come earn Little Brittle Lizard Richard more star-a-blam-dlam do-dam-then-deserved.

GREY Area by Little Simz
Dec 12 2025

I'm a rap fan, so I looked forward to this when it popped up. Maybe I'm old and the game has left me, I could not connect with this. Obviously, the artist is talented and there are some nice beats on here, but can't say I liked it.

Dec 13 2025

There is a track midway through the album that sounds like an antelope being bonesawed alive on a late afternoon in the steppes. Shame, I tried to like this.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Dec 14 2025

Pretentious and sanctimonious are sins on their own, but the true third strike for whatever this is supposed to be is that is *boring* - for all that many songs about sprawling, they really should have realized that the album itself is too long and going absolutely nowhere. How can you make rock/pop this boring and this aggravating? Why does the singer makes you feel like he is going to cry at any given time, sounding performative and fake instead of giving you a feel of true emotion he is trying (and failing) to convey? Never again, and neither should you.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Dec 15 2025

That was pretty good actually and well worth its reputation.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Dec 16 2025

Eh. U2 meets a darker tone? Solid, but nothing more. Nice instruments has to be said. Better than U2 at least.

Step In The Arena by Gang Starr
Dec 17 2025

Classic of the genre for a reason and some of their most known songs are here. Jazzy beats are a Gang Starr staple, mellow and relaxed sounds give you a very pleasant listening experience and Guru (RIP), forever underrated, is as smooth as he ever was. The album does kind of meander towards the end, but I won't hold it against it. This list should have featured one or two more of their albums, so if you liked this check out at least Moment of Truth as it is most likely their best work.

Tapestry by Carole King
Dec 18 2025

Not my kind of stuff, but nice enough. Enjoy your extra star Carole King, I know you care about the rating of a random internet music non ball knower.

Suede by Suede
Dec 19 2025

Keysey voice: Brit.Pop.Slop. Shamefully boring and singer's voice is grating. The zodiac sign song and love in a Volvo, that was supposed to be deep, but it really wasn't. You can tell that the record company or whoever decided on the singles from the album because those three are all somewhat faster and energetic than the others.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Dec 20 2025

Some interesting instruments work here (i.e. not all acoustic shit) but a dull voice and ineligible singing. If it was an instrumental album, could have worked better.

Who's Next by The Who
Dec 21 2025

Who? Who? What are you, a fucking owl? Eh, I really wanted to like it. I didn't. That's the review.

Dec 22 2025

Wanted to be The Residents, but didn't quite make it. Pleasant surprise that something like this is on the list. Still better than Neil Young's 79 albums.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Dec 23 2025

Solid. Maybe I liked it because finally something energetic came up on the list for once.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Dec 24 2025

I'm a rap fan, first of all. Where to start? It is an important album, great production and of course a talented and capable rapper, albeit one's whose voice I don't find compelling. This is a tough listen, though. It is an ambitious effort that doesn't quite land at all times (and I'd count the poem and 2Pac conversation at the end in that too). It is not that is a dark album, it is simply not fun - and no, I don't need a club or dance track, I'd like a pleasant listen or a couple of songs to return to. The hype and almost universal acclaim and instant classic accolades that were bestowed upon it *didn't* help as the bar was set into the stratosphere.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Dec 25 2025

Wish it was an instrumental album or at least an alternate version because it would make it a quite pleasant ambient listening experience or something to drive to. Singer is trying to be Dylan, Don Hanley or the resident town acoustic guitar by the fire singer. Oh well.

Dec 26 2025

This would have hit much harder if it was on our actual Christmas which in this part of the world is on January 7th. I appreciate the attempt though! Also, as someone who *doesn't* like Christmas and its festive songs, I really liked the music and singing on the album.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Dec 27 2025

Of its time, but it's fun. Energetic at least, which I can't say for all the folk/rock/indie shit that happens a lot on this list.

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Dec 28 2025

To me, an evolved faster and coked out crazier cousin of the great Duck Stab album I had here before. Pretty good!

90 by 808 State
Dec 29 2025

Amazing stuff, really enjoyed this.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Dec 31 2025

I don't like Come on Eileen. The rest of the album was in the similar vein. Not for me, Clive.

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Jan 01 2026

I'm sorry, but this was outstandingly awful. I expected a lot more, in turn I got a lounge restaurant singer with the most boring instrumentation ever. I really, really, wanted to like it, especially as I know Holiday is an all time singer, but this was just not good or interesting enough. It's on me.

american dream by LCD Soundsystem
Jan 02 2026

Penultimate track is spectacular. Now that the only good thing is out of the way, oh boy. I thought I liked synths, this album made me loathe them. I thought I hated David Byrne and U2, this album affirmed it. I thought that in no way some really good rocking instrumentals could be ruined by someone yapping or badly singing over them, but yet again this album proved it can be done. Fuck off, and never again. Great music on occasion though, so it would feel wrong to give it a 1.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Jan 04 2026

Solid, if not good. Can't say I'm Iggy's fan, but at least it wasn't boring. Trainspotting song is like an old friend, always happy to hear it.

Jan 05 2026

Big fan so it's an automatic 5. No Good is my favorite Prodigy song, plus there's a lot of other bangers here. I was pretty stoked and elated when the album popped up, great surprise to see an old favorite!

Jan 06 2026

Enjoyed this a lot, more than I thought I would. Great find and a day that makes following this list meaningful.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jan 07 2026

Can't say I enjoy Janis' voice too much when she tries to force it and scream about, but the music was really good and an album very much worth of its reputation.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Jan 09 2026

Meh, expected more from the legends.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jan 10 2026

Made 35 minutes look like 135.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Jan 11 2026

Not a 5 but I'll give it because its been a while. Money Too Tight always a banger, Holding Back Years forever a song that Del Boy listens when Rodney gets married. Rest of the album I heard for the first time and enjoyed most of it.

Jan 12 2026

Not bad at all, although I wish more songs were in the likeness of the album opener and less folky flutey Jethro Tullly.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jan 13 2026

Deserves less, but still didn't bore me do death as some (Arcade Fire, looking at you). It was pretty awful though, saved by some funky basslines or synth work. 1.5 should be more appropriate.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Jan 14 2026

Thought I wouldn't like it - good surprise. I'd give it a half star less or a 7 if scale to 10, but I'm a generous fellow when surprises are good. Very solid album from the group I was only familiar through their biggest hit (and it was not on the album).

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 15 2026

Often you hear how this album is departure for Beach Boys and out of character - if this is it, I really don't want to hear their *main* stuff.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Jan 16 2026

Eh didn't feel it. Then again, I'm not a fan of their biggest hits from the album either.

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Jan 18 2026

Well, I'll give it some leeway because this goes beyond music. It does contain my favorite PE song (Terrordome, and that one is one of my favorite instrumentals in rap), and there are really some 3-4 great songs here. Crux of it is that nothing has changed from when it was released which definitely says something about the world. Social activism music is not a fun listen, but it is important, and especially as this could have been released today, hence my 5 star rating. Don't even have to mention the state of rap music today vs then. PE's production was stellar in its time, probably the best in the classic era, and still sounds great! Chuck D was never my type of MC, more of a spoken poetry/preacher type, but it does go along with his powerful lyrics and messages, even though it does start to grate after some time. Bit bloated with skits and whatnot, but all that falls to the side - fight the power and the terrordome!

Dare! by The Human League
Jan 19 2026

Quite literally made on a calculator, as one of the synths they used came with an integrated calculator. Very synthpop of its time, charming as it may be, it does sound like the rest of the era. Eh, the biggest hit was never my favorite. Couple of good songs here and that's it.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Jan 20 2026

Ah, the first of many. Looking forward to giving the others the same treatment. Thom Yorke is an insufferable prick, maybe the worst in the history, and only one worse than him are Radiohead fans.

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
Jan 21 2026

If you're a rap fan, chances are you've listened to this one already. It has a mythical status for a reason. To other reviewers who cannot comprehend what is going on here - yes, Kool Keith is an acquired taste. You also likely heard Dan the Automator on Gorillaz, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Deltron, etc. - and yes, most likely loved his work. So, what gives? You're stressed out by the concept of a spacetime travelling Dr Octagon and his half shark half alligator blabbering? What, world needs more love songs, more bling raps? Fuck off and grow a spine you sensitive, easily offended hypocrites.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jan 22 2026

Great music. There is a reason Reznor went on to make music scores and soundtracks. There is a reason he makes movie music and gave up vocals because his "through the megaphone" yelling and hollering and whispering on this album sucks ass. Could have been perfect.

Gold by Ryan Adams
Jan 23 2026

Nope! Who is this music for?! I think I owe Neil Young an apology, at least Crazy Horse plays good music.

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Jan 24 2026

Eh. Not bad, but a bit, you know, lounge around or eat at restaurant music. Can't say I hated it, but forgettable.

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Jan 25 2026

Never heard of this band before. Really energetic and good, this is the stuff that makes the list worthwhile (instead of getting another Radiohead album).

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
Jan 26 2026

Not my kind of stuff, but fine to listen to in the background.

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Jan 27 2026

Meh. Forgettable? Appreciate the music in some places though.

Fun House by The Stooges
Jan 28 2026

Actually good, and found it more interesting then Iggy's solo effort from before. Not an Iggy Pop guy by any means, but yeah, pretty solid.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jan 29 2026

Eh, expected more from the godfathers of electronic. Then again, likely mindblowing at the time it came out, so that has to be respected.

#1 Record by Big Star
Jan 30 2026

Somewhat interesting, but not my thing. Oh well, but I can see why someone might like it.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Jan 31 2026

Rod Stewart, great voice, proper rockstar - but just a bit of generic rock innit? Never really cared for him, not that I dislike him or anything.

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Feb 01 2026

Great! 15 minutes for an album is great! Go in, get your shit out and get out!

Kimono My House by Sparks
Feb 02 2026

Never heard of this band or this album, but a surprise! Energetic and weird, in the best way. One of those that makes this list worthwhile.

Feb 03 2026

Better than the previous one the list gave me, still boring, but still mercifully short. Too much stuff from these guys.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Feb 04 2026

My second Zeppelin here. Very good, just as the previous one was. From all the classic rock acts I've heard, Zeppelin easily has the most "timeless" feel. Great music, although not a fan of Plant's singing.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Feb 05 2026

Fuck off already with Joni Mitchell.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Feb 07 2026

I'm so sorry Norah. Great voice, very soothing, very chill, but this is background music in a restaurant at best. I really wanted to love it, but yeah... This does nothing for me at all

Roger the Engineer by The Yardbirds
Feb 08 2026

Better than I expected, doesn't sound dated at all.

Goo by Sonic Youth
Feb 09 2026

Solid. Bit noisy and distorted, innit? Some of the tracks were unlistenable, but that's expected.

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Feb 10 2026

Never cared for Peter Gabriel, but I am approaching this list with an open minded and what do you know, I quite liked this album. Great music and production, liked the first half of the album more.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 11 2026

Nice! Didn't expect to like it, but that's what the list is for, like I've already said in multiple reviews and I hope someone has the same experience too.

Feb 12 2026

Are you a fan of alcohol? Or smoking? Somehow this music sounds like both. How about being a fan of songs about the motherland while you toil away somewhere far away and songs are all sad and nostalgic, yet energetic? Do you like violins, flutes and/or accordions in your songs? How about being a fan of getting all drunk and emotional, and then throwing glasses at the wall or breaking dinner plates over your head while trying to slash your wrists with plate shards as feelings overwhelm you? Man, then can I recommend this album to you! Other than getting drunk somewhat occasionally, I'm not a fan of a single thing of what I've written above. However, I do recognize a lot of people are. This type of music should not work for me and yet... This *is* a good album.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Feb 13 2026

I would have said mercifully short if it didn't feel like 3 hours long instead of 33 minutes. Music not bad, but come on. Probably an acquired taste.

Feb 14 2026

Best Pac's album. Might have his best song, or 3 of his top 5. Anyway you cut it, this is his best work, introspective and focused without filler that his next and more heralded album will have. Great production too, amazing beats on a lot of songs. Not without skips, all Pac's albums have it, but when he hits you can see why is he held in such high esteem. RIP legend, if there is one thing I took from your music during formative years it was to be authentic and to not care about opinions.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 15 2026

Not a Nick Cave guy.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Feb 17 2026

Fuck off Morrissey, your music is boring and somehow still not the most offensive thing about you.

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Feb 19 2026

Energetic, and not boring, which is the only thing one can hope in the endless sea of acoustic and/or indie boring shit that pops up on this list.

Low by David Bowie
Feb 20 2026

I appreciate the instrumentals and that's why I give it a star more. Not a Bowie fan, this is only the first of his many, many albums on the list.

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
Feb 21 2026

Barely got through it at 30 minutes. Sorry, not sorry.

Scum by Napalm Death
Feb 22 2026

1) World does not need any more love songs. 2) World does not need another acoustic indy pop art bullshit album on this list. There are also too many albums from a single artist already. 3) World does not need anymore Radiohead or Radiohead on this list or Radiohead in general. You people should open up yourself to something else instead of crying about "just noise" or "scary man was screaming and growling at me in these songs".

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Feb 23 2026

Always wondered who is this kind of music for. People who enjoy getting around the fire on the beach and strumming the acoustic? Sensitive loners who find that every song ever speaks of their struggles, fears and anxious thoughts? Pretentious intellectuals who despise getting down on the dance floor because they're too up in their head to embarrass themselves while badly dancing or think they're above mashing around in the pit in the crowd on the concert? Well, I'm just a dumb rockeater, I suppose. This shit is B O R I N G.

Feb 24 2026

As a rap fan, I've known this from way back. It is of its time and a worthy alternative to what was mainstream. Unusually that this is on the list, but a welcome surprise to be sure.

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club
Feb 25 2026

Can't say I enjoyed this one. Fun at times and funky, but maybe Talking Heads are just not my thing.

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Feb 26 2026

If there was one thing I learned from this list is that I can't get into noise pop or shoegaze or whatever the hell is supposed to be, and I really tried to like it.

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Feb 27 2026

I'm giving this an extra star because of other reviews. Man, what's with the hate on a perfectly good and interesting album?

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Feb 28 2026

Wasn't boring and was pretty energetic. Exactly a punk sound like a punk album should sound? Guess it's neither here or there with my stars, but I'll give it extra because it wasn't boring me.

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Mar 01 2026

Some of the music was great, but a lot of it was grating. Don't like this particular type of singing either. There were a couple of songs that I really liked, and that's just about made the album worthwhile.

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Mar 02 2026

Big disappointment. These are the famed psych rock legends right? Their live album came up earlier on the list and it was good. This one... was not. Country, slow, shit.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Mar 03 2026

Hey, Bowie was good all along, who knew? Not me.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Mar 04 2026

If you are a rap fan, you already know about this one.

Smokers Delight by Nightmares On Wax
Mar 05 2026

Instrumentals - check. Cool samples recognition - check. Background / elevator / long car music - check. What more can an honest man who hates singing ask for?

Odessa by Bee Gees
Mar 06 2026

Come on man.

xx by The xx
Mar 07 2026

A lot of these types of music on this list. Slow paced pop/rock indie shit. Alternative that is somehow boring and even worse than mainstream. I tried, i really did, but I cannot for the life of me like any of it.

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Mar 08 2026

Tough to find all of the songs here. Not bad or anything, but kind of wears you down a bit?

Le Tigre by Le Tigre
Mar 09 2026

Is this like Bananarama got guitars and started doing riot music? Maybe. It dissolves in the second half and wears out its welcome by the end, which is not good since the album is rather short. Then again, it is an interesting experience. If only the singing was better than the wailing.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Mar 10 2026

35 minutes that felt like 35 hours. Fuck Neil Young's 91 albums on this list.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Mar 11 2026

Initially, I always assumed this got universal praise and acclaim because it was released when Bowie died. However, I really enjoyed listening to it in full. *Great* music, jazz and electronica, never boring and always energetic. Gets a fifth star because the man was dying while making it, in this house that feat is not taken lightly.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Mar 13 2026

I'm giving this an extra star because of the instrumentals which are always appreciated (and this particular singer sucks on the singing songs). I guess mariachi shit is not for me.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Mar 14 2026

As a rap fan, I never cared for Missy Elliott. Also, she unleashed Timbaland on the world and that is an unforgivable sin on its own.

Mar 15 2026

I think I'm in a minority (of one?) when it comes to Kanye: rap is my favorite genre yet I never liked him, ever since hearing Through the Wire way back when. His rapping, flow, lyrics, all tiresome and weak with an occasional good beat. His production for other artists was always better. I feel that the people who *do* like him musically are not necessarily rap fans. Oh, and there is all that other stuff... Guess I was on the right side of history from the beginning, there was something off about him from the start.

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Mar 16 2026

Most overrated rapper of all time, this rating is out of principle.

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Mar 17 2026

Not bad, but whatever? Singing is not good, the music does rock and it's not boring.

Drunk by Thundercat
Mar 18 2026

Fun and weird in a good way. I'd give it a half a star extra to round it up.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Mar 19 2026

His name may be Robert Paulsen, but this much melodrama and everything turned up is just too much for me.

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Mar 20 2026

Not bad. Other reviewers are really too harsh. As always, I'll take this any day over another folk acoustic indie bullshit.

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Mar 21 2026

Yeah, I'll give it an extra star. Wish there was more quality synth pop on here this list instead of boring indie shit. Three all time songs on this album? Guess that deserves the max rating as the songs stand their ground 40+ years across space and time.

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Mar 22 2026

It's not bad, but just kind of boring and aged. Some nice music and all, but yeah, not much to it.

Mar 23 2026

Holy shit, why are there too many albums from certain artists on this list?! Fuck off!

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Mar 24 2026

Expected a bit more from the legend, I guess? More energetic or what not. Eh, big disappointment.

Mar 25 2026

I had French as a second foreign language (English was first, in case it wasn't obvious?) in both elementary and high school. For 8 years I learned French and all I can say is "comment tu t'appelles?" and respond with "je suis un idiot" and I'm not quite sure what either means. However, I distinctly remember getting into rap around 5th or 6th grade and our French school book had pictures of various French musicians - one of them, you guessed, was MC Solaar. French rapper? Well, this is great I thought back then, I'll combine my love of rap and desire to learn French! No speedy internet back then, so there was no chance to listen to the great man in full, but couple of songs here and there that I got my hands on and I quite liked. All this to say - I didn't learn French at all, so I could understand a total of fuck all lyrics on the album, but I know quality when I hear it. Beats on this album are amazing, entire album is pretty chill and Solaar does his best to emulate Rakim and Big Daddy Kane as the influence of both is obvious. Merci beacoup pour ce chef d'oeuvre, roi!

Suicide by Suicide
Mar 26 2026

Started good, but then nosedived pretty quickly. It was more boring than atmospheric/creepy that it wished it was. Elvis impression didn't help either. Nice try at a time when no one was doing anything similar, but just not interesting enough.

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets
Mar 27 2026

Unexpectedly good and funny and fun. The list needed more stuff like this.

Orbital 2 by Orbital
Mar 28 2026

Solid electronica that feels very much of its time. Halycon is probably the most widely known song from Orbital, yet I found other tracks to be better. Surprising to see so many harsh reviews about this album.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Mar 29 2026

Bit of a standard punk. Not bad, not particularly interesting. Maybe I don't care for punk.

Nixon by Lambchop
Mar 30 2026

I thought music was really good on this and it got less boring as it went along. Wish it had an instrumental version. Very interesting and not something I usually like.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Mar 31 2026

While a bit overrated due to their singer's death, as it is common in such cases, this is without question a quality album. Reborn as a completely *other* band (and arguably better) should not be overlooked when talking about their musicianship and skill. You can tell that the seeds of what is coming are planted here. While the songs/lyrics are depressing, the music is *never* boring and quite more energetic than expected.

Vespertine by Björk
Apr 01 2026

Always thought the Bjork is an acquired taste - one that I could not ever acquire, save for a couple of random songs.

Fragile by Yes
Apr 02 2026

On the strength of the very first song this gets a 4. Rest of it is... experimental, shall we say.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Apr 03 2026

Too much Simon on the list, whether solo or with his buddy. Boring man with boring music that even he apparently doesn't like. I don't have to either.

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Apr 04 2026

I was really bored by this one. Sadly, too much indie shit on this list as it is.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Apr 05 2026

Really good album, start to end. What a great entry to the list that is more boring than it should be.

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Apr 06 2026

Couple of good songs music wise, but that's just about it. Not terrible, but can't really say I enjoyed it or would have missed it if I died yesterday.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Apr 09 2026

Really good album, bit overshadowed by Violator but can comfortably stand against it. Strangelove is their best song.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Apr 10 2026

Usually when you come up on the words "experimental" and "post rock" and such on this list, you know you're in the world of boring slow shit. Thankfully, this is one of those rare cases when an album doesn't sound like that at all.

En-Tact by The Shamen
Apr 11 2026

A bit duller than I expected, but more electronica should be featured on the list as it is the least present genre. Too much acoustic folk indie dream pop shoegaze shit as it stands that I'm giving out inflated scores to other genres simply because they are here at all.

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Apr 12 2026

Have no idea this will be this funky, a welcome surprise on the list. Really fun and not boring.

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Apr 13 2026

Generic as can only a lot of stuff on this list be. Why does Elvis has 6 albums on here for fucks sake? Looking forward to skipping others.

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Apr 14 2026

Slow, boring, fuck off Nick Cave as there is too much of you on this list anyway.

Pictures At An Exhibition by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Apr 16 2026

Solid effort, I appreciate the try but it's just not what it wants to be. Not a fan of classical and certainly not a fan of classical through the 70s electronica filter - while I hoped I could become a fan, they simply missed it and the ball went out of play.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Apr 17 2026

Liked it better than Beatles somehow. Still not a fan of the era, but this is not bad.

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Apr 18 2026

Dream indie pop slop that is boring me out of my mind every time it pops up on the list, and there is a lot of albums like this on the fucking list.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Apr 19 2026

No thanks. I could have died and not listened to this.

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Apr 21 2026

Cuteish. Still didn't need to listen to it before dying.

Quiet Life by Japan
Apr 22 2026

Solid synth pop and way more groovy and fun then I thought it would be. I love 80s Brit synth pop, what can I say?

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Apr 23 2026

Solid album, if a bit on the slower side than I expected. An all time song may just be doing the heavy lifting, but I wouldn't hold that against it.

Apr 24 2026

I thought about generously giving an extra star here, even though I don't think it's perfect. The other two albums from Public Enemy on this list are somewhat better, so it's kind of unfair to give this the same 5 star treatment. One thing about Public Enemy - production and beats are great and timeless. Never a boring song, even if listening to Chuck D does become grating as time goes on.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Apr 25 2026

Sonic Youth is not for me clearly, as this is their other album I just could not get into despite liking *some* of the music. Oh well.

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Apr 26 2026

Only thing I have to ask is - why is South of Heaven not on this list?

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Apr 27 2026

Solid and not boring, but still, a lot of stuff like this on the list and I'm ready to start skipping it.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Apr 28 2026

Fairly energetic as I expected a lot of boring indy shit considering that these guys. "Not boring" is becoming a high praise for stuff on this list.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Apr 29 2026

Unexpectedly good and fun, jazz and instrumental psy rock together. Who would have thought!

No Other by Gene Clark
Apr 30 2026

I hate when the list gives me this genre. Sounds the same every time and it's not something I like. I usually play the album and endure. I hated everything from the Byrds, Neil Young, the like... ...and somehow this album clicked for me and I had no business liking it, but I fucking do. I'm giving it an extra star just for the unexpected and surprising factor of actually liking the thing, so if you're like me - give it a try, or a second try even. High praise from someone like me who loathes this genre.

The Man Who by Travis
May 01 2026

Scared to write anything bad or snarky since there are a couple of Travis songs that I like (not all from this album).

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
May 02 2026

Came out and did what it set out to do. Some, uh, questionable lyrics aside or the fact that Lemmy's voice does seem grating the more you hear it, that was really good.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
May 03 2026

Maybe it's "you had to be there in those days, there was nothing like this in music". Maybe it's because I don't know music theory so I have no idea what to listen for and/or appreciate. Maybe they're going for some sensibilities I just don't respond to. Fuck me if I understand their appeal and eternal status.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
May 05 2026

As usual, Zeppelin very much worth of the hype. Aged really good I feel.

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
May 06 2026

I was bored out of my mind. I wish I unheard this shit. I hate folk rock acoustic whatever as it is, and this only cemented my feelings about the genre. Why is this on here, I wish I rather died and not listened instead of listening before I died.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
May 07 2026

Zeppelin does not disappoint, as usual.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
May 08 2026

First time I ever listened to this album. I was aware of its reputation and was aware of some song by The Allman Brothers Band. It started off slow or not particularly engaging. Once you get past that and warm up, you are ready to be absolutely blown away by the second half of the album (Hot'lanta, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Whipping Post). What a ride, what a fucking masterpiece. I love instrumental music unencumbered by singing, wailing, yelling, whispering - and let me tell you, did this stuff deliver! I'd give it 55 stars if I could.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
May 09 2026

Save for a couple of tracks and Grace Slick's singing, there is not much here. Obviously, Somebody to Love is eternal, so worth the listen for that only. Wish it was more rock and guitar, instead of folk and acoustic whisper shit.

2112 by Rush
May 10 2026

Expected more, to be honest. Music at times is great, problem is you have to endure everything around it to get to it. Then once the second half album with regular songs starts going, you realize the best part of the album was the first 20 minute track. Ouch.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
May 11 2026

Synth pop seemingly has 500 artists with 5000 same-sounding albums. When it works though, then it works, and when it's at its best, then it has all-time staying power - which these guys have managed to do. Not a perfect album, but this is one of the best synth pop duos to ever make music, so we'll honor it by giving it an extra star.

Let It Be by The Replacements
May 12 2026

Short, energetic and to the point, just like this listener likes it. Very good and rounded album and matched the expectations since The Replacements are one of those unheralded bands you always hear about and yet knew zero songs of. Apparently nobody sounded like this in the 80s (really hard to fathom? as it sounds rather punky generic?), so I'll have to take their word for it.

Hejira by Joni Mitchell
May 13 2026

Just one more Joni Mitchell album left and I wish I had died so I didn't have to listen all of them for this list.

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
May 14 2026

I quite liked this, and I feel the other reviews are too harsh. Needed just a little bit of less slow/weird songs and it could have been an all timer.

With The Beatles by Beatles
May 15 2026

One day, I will understand their greatness. Today is not that day.

Wild Gift by X
May 16 2026

Solid fun, but I can't say anything even remotely distinct about it. Not my genre I suppose, but not boring. Just that I didn't engage with it I guess.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
May 17 2026

Was expecting something... more? It was not boring, don't get me wrong, but I was left wanting more.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
May 18 2026

Too singy for my liking, but pretty fun and not boring. I won't go back to it, but if you like it you like it, nothing bad to say about it.

May 19 2026

You always hear about Pavement and how underrated they are. Some interesting music here, but some generic too. 3 would be harsh, 4 feels like too much. It wasn't boring at least.

The Bends by Radiohead
May 20 2026

As usual, this rating is out of principle. The insufferable frontman outmatched in insufferability only by band's own fanbase. Petty? Maybe. But a petty act of a small man for mankind, a big act of pleasure for a man.

May 21 2026

Often overlooked when talking about the 80s giants (your Rakims, your Big Daddy Kanes, your Public Enemies, Beastie Boys or Run DMCs), Ice T can comfortably stand against anyone, at least for his cultural impact and as a West Coast pioneer. That said, *this* album is a testament to his rap ability and song craftsmanship. While it is a bit overlong and songs tend to overlap somewhat, it never gets boring as there are at least 8 banging tracks spread out with some funny skits in between. Album also has a rock/metal track that severs as jumping point for Ice T's metal group of the same name. Just spectacle all around.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
May 22 2026

I don't mind RHCP. I do mind Kiedis singing though, or should I say lack of. If they were an instrumental band I think I would really love them. There is some great music here especially when the vocals (or lyrics) don't ruin it. While I didn't own the album, the singles (videos) were my introduction to the band (and their big comeback, as this album is a clear line of divide as in before/after in their work) and I remember liking most of those songs when they would pop up on TV. Listening to the album now, it's not without skips, but the good stuff is still good and I had a nice time listening to it. I genuinely thought giving it a 5, but I would be lying to myself and we wouldn't want that, would we?

May 23 2026

I was of age that when it came out it should have gripped me and it didn't and it still doesn't. Good music though, not boring but just not working out for me.

May 24 2026

No denying that this is great music. I wish it was instrumental only, I kind of never cared for Yes' singer. Still, worth a listen.

B-52's by The B-52's
May 25 2026

Even a miserable bastard like myself can't hate this. They're just too energetic and fun/funny plus great lady singers and solid music.

Moon Safari by Air
May 26 2026

When I was in my late teens, I decided to try and listen to something that I don't listen to usually. Well, that backfired since here I am 20 years later trying to repeat the same process via this 1001 albums exercise! At the time, undecided on what to listen, I looked over online or consulted with friends about what should I give a chance to. This album routinely popped up in a lot of suggestions so it was one of those I gave a try. I had huge expectations, naturally, as it is one of the most lauded albums of all time. Man, they were not wrong, and all these years later, it still sounds great.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
May 27 2026

How do these great musicians make good sounding but boring, easy going songs? This is my third Steely Dan album and again, I wished to like it even more, but it just sucks.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
May 28 2026

Solid, even though I'm not a big Ozzy guy. More bluesy than I expected, in addition to of course metal rocking classic rock.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
May 29 2026

This was like a better Oasis, which I think tells more about my feelings about Oasis rather than The Charlatans. I'd give it an extra half star actually, but 4 seems too much. It's not annoying at least.

Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods
Jun 01 2026

Jazzy instrumental stuff much better than the folk singing drivel. Wasn't boring, but heard this kind of music elsewhere and much better.

Jun 02 2026

Fuck off whiny crying baby, Radiohead knock off. I thought the other reviews were exaggerating how boring this was - NO!, it was even more boring.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Jun 04 2026

Yeah, this was *great*! What the fuck is wrong with other reviews. Not liking a bit of unconventional shredding? Think we need another generic indie album or even some more acoustic shit?

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jun 05 2026

Only question is this: why is Facelift not on the list?

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Jun 06 2026

Oh, this was rather and pretty good, just misses that one special thing to make it perfect.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jun 07 2026

Couple of good songs can not make up for the rest of the album being way too out there, somewhere between fun and childish. They did better stuff later. I remember being so disappointed way back then when I bought the album on the strength of Clint Eastwood.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Jun 08 2026

It was solid and not boring, but not as good as the previous entry from this band.

Different Class by Pulp
Jun 09 2026

Britpop is a hit or miss (more miss to be honest) with me, and I know this particular album is held in high regard so it was nice when it popped up to check it out. Pretty good, must be said, even if I don't necessarily listen to this kind of music.

Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer
Jun 10 2026

Proto metal, proto grunge or proto whatever, these guys did sound like something good and fresh for its time.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jun 11 2026

I'll give it an extra star, sure. I quite like Lenny, albeit not his singing, but the music is fun and never boring.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jun 12 2026

Solid background/elevator music (in a good way), more melodic then I like and just wished that it kicked into high gear at times or something.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Jun 13 2026

Couldn't get with the different sound or whatever they were going for. I am all for artistic growth and what have you, don't need to have every album sound the same, I get it, but this just wasn't it and not what it wants to be.

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
Jun 14 2026

Someone who created the list really loves the jangle jangle jangle pop/rock. I don't.

Bummed by Happy Mondays
Jun 15 2026

Short and quick to the point, which is always a plus. Bit boring at times, and I liked some songs. More poppy then rock, which is not what I want, but still.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jun 16 2026

What a banger. Still good and fresh. Why was Mezzanine not on the 1000 Albums list we will never know, go listen to that album if you liked this one.

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Jun 17 2026

Too much for me, opera pop and very heavy on the singing. Nope!

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Jun 18 2026

Gets an extra star even if it's a bit too meandering and overlong. RIP man, great voice and a proper rock singer who made not one, but two bands great.

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jun 19 2026

Not something I necessarily like, but this was fine. Shoegaze and indy stuff are just not my thing, but at least this wasn't boring me out of my mind as it usually does.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jun 21 2026

Mercifully short. Fuck off Neil Young and your twenty thousand albums on this list. Crazy Horse albums are at least more manageable than the solo shit.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 22 2026

Not as good as celebrated. Snoop was always overrated and his best work was done as features (of which he has too many). Still, a good debut.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Jun 23 2026

Too much folk rock on this list. Too much...

Pretenders by Pretenders
Jun 24 2026

Solid, and worthy of its reputation. Gets an extra star just because for once it was good enough as it promised.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Jun 25 2026

Is this like those low budget horror series where they keep making sequels that only 17 people in the world care about? You can tell Nick Cave was listening to this guy.

Jun 26 2026

This is one of the classics of the genre and for a good reason. At the time, Wu Tang could not miss and this still sounds great as it did back then.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Jun 27 2026

Sorry, this was pretty boring and making me want turn it off.

Jun 28 2026

I don't want to hate on Queen or Freddie, I really don't. But this kind of theatrical melodramatic operatic rock is just not for me, and maybe the reason I never liked them that much. It's the piano isn't it?

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
