1001 Albums Summary

Never really got into linkin park after my teenage angst days. But I alway preferred Minutes to Midnight. This album has surprised me a little, the lyrics are a bit corny but the album itself has held up really well musically. Lots of big hooks and great riffs. Jack 3/5 Ale 3/5

Excellent live album, hit all the best bits of my favourite things about the blues, great solos and a band just having the time of their life

Very average, don't understand the hype around these guys at all, the 90s shout all the bars style rapping isn't my favourite

One of my all time favourites from Johnny Cash

Excellent album, perfect length, some real bangers and a great unexpected choir to round it all off, only reason this hasn't hit 5 stars for me is it's a bit repetitive in style

Some great highlights but so many dreary dull moments, I get that the harmonies are interesting but it's not a great album for me

Great riffs, incredible drums but nothing that makes an impact, nothing lasting, aside from that one riff in smoke on the water there's nothing hugely memorable about this album for me

Iconic album with some great singles and honestly a lot more album tracks than I expected, very strong three for me, just doesn't quite hit home for me

Another star easily my first unknown track that has caught me off guard and I've fallen in love with the music again Top tier album with so many unexpected amazing album tracks around the hit singles

Loved the album growing up, classic blues rock

I like Ray Charles but he was of his time and it doesn't resonate with me as much, still an iconic voice and style

Very forgettable for me, nothing that stands out, just run of the mill

Pleasantly surprised by the quality but the whole album is the same "I miss my ex" and there's not enough variety in songs for me

Always surprised at the quality of their back catalogue

I can appreciate the music and she's got a great voice but this one's not for me

A musical awakening for me when I first heard it at 14 still sounds great today

Going to have to go explore Iggy Pop and the stooges, much better than I expected

The comfortably numb cover makes me angry I enjoyed the other album with I can't decide as a kid but this album feels like a slightly more sophisticated venga boys

Very average, can't say there's anything particular memorable or impactful about it

Still pretty overrated to me, opening track I wanna be adored, and the two closing tracks, I Am the Resurrection and Fools Gold are the best tracks. The rest is very forgettable, I suppose it's really impressive if you think Oasis is the be all and end all of music.

The opening riff made me feel this record was going to be more exciting but it turned into the same mediocre folk rock. I just don't get the hype around Neil Young. Maybe he was amazing because of the time

Fun album, I like the classical riffs mixed with prog rock, seems a bit too gimmicky to me like a lot of prog rock

Always preferred In Rainbows but this is such a great album, if not a bit too depressing at times

Loved this, very psychedelic and a bit predictable but felt original

Excellent album, love the old style sound and the younger version of the Who that I haven't heard before. I'll always say live at Leeds is the best but this is a great studio album

Safe to say I don't get the hype, felt very long winded for alot of loops and the same drum line on every track 2 stars because it wasn't entirely terrible but every track I enjoyed was too dragged out

A classic, looking forward to a relisten It's a shame they really lost their way but for about 3 and a half albums Arcade Fire were top of the game. Only reason this isn't a five is there's too much filler for my liking

More psychedelic folk, I can see how influential it was but it doesn't drag me back to it very often Having said that I'm enjoying this album, bit more of a groove to it I could see myself relistening to this one but I doubt I'm rushing out the get a copy of it

Better than I expected

I'm learning I have alot of stereotypes of artists in my head based on little knowledge of them, this surprised me, the variety on the album is great

Nirvana meets the Hives, they not bad and some of the songs are pretty good I just find them so forgettable

Lovely trip down memory lane, I still feel like acid queen and the back half of this album weighs it down a bit but otherwise it's great

It's not bad per se but it just feels so empty, lots of pretty soundscapes but I couldn't recognise a single song from this album

It's long for a "punk" album but with this much variety is it even punk? Iconic album with so many influences on so many genres

So much better than I expected, great flow, great beats, if anything one too many skits between tracks for me but still a lot of fun

Classic rolling stones, you can really see how they bridged the gap between old school rock and roll and more modern sounds

No skips, no bad tracks, some poor lyrics but the music, the vibe, everything else about this album is just perfect. 4.5/5 so I'm rounding it up to 5

Can't hear it without thinking of Hank Hill. And I tell you What, it says alot that this is an album of covers, I don't think he added much to any of them but it's pleasant enough

Very fun record I can see how they influenced alot of modern indie and alternative rock, even a bit of post punk style

Not sure what to make of this one. Music is a bit cliche and kind of all over the place thematically, too hit and miss for my liking 2/5

Can't say I was blown away but I wasn't bored either

Very cool, love the 70s jazz style, it doesn't move me in the same way that classic jazz does but I do like the off beat aggressive nature of this. 3/5

I remember this not really grabbing me when I came out and on relisten I can see why. The intro and the lead single are great but the whole album is the same tone with no real variety. Atmospheric and pretty but ultimately repetitive and without a second gear. A generous 3/5

It's not Ziggy Stardust but I can see why it's alot of people's favourite Bowie record. Shivers down my spine during Life on Mars. The second half of the album struggles to live up to the hype of the first half. 4/5

Easy listening music was never my favourite genre, sounds like Jack Johnson B-sides that they used to sell on CD at starbucks

There's only so long I can listen to the same bassline riff with some one interchanging any random word for "funk" Funk off

Never heard of this guy but apparently everyone hates him? Budget Bob Dylan without the engaging lyrics

One hit wonder but possibly the best one hot wonder? The rest of the album is so different to the single everyone knows I had to check I got the right album. Not bad but not memorable at all.

Again these guys aren't bad and I can see why they're loved it just doesn't catch me 3/5

Pop rock. A few good tracks and riffs looped a billion times. One extra star because message in a bottle is such an earworm
