Bad Company is like Little Caesars Pizza. It is awesome, right out the oven, but its overall quality drops rapidly… losing essential taste value even as cutting and boxing is complete. Before you’ve had your first bite, the hope of a great meal is gone, and you begin questioning your motivations for going there in the first place. Bad Company is good for maybe two listens from the ages of 12-14. After that you’re left with some degree of musical indigestion.
Album No. 0221 on my list. Ah nice, the rare occurrence of a name triplet: the song "Bad Company" on the album "Bad Company" by the band Bad Company. Okay, enough with the fun (as the actual German proverb goes): I had known about the existence of Bad Company and had been aware that they were a hard rock band, but I'm quite sure I had never listened to the band before. "Bad Company" is a solid, classic 70s hard rock album. Nothing more, nothing less. I enjoyed listening to it, and that's pretty much that. Good guitar sound, solid voice, pretty, well, standard lyrics. Everything one would want from an album like this, without the songs really catching my attention themselves. I'm quite happy though that the band mostly refrained from doing the annoying overly-overtly-masculine kind of hard rock which I typically really don't like, but rather went with something more laid back, kinda neutral. On the other hand, I'm not sure that's a particularly good thing to say about a hard rock album. All in all, this was a solid listen and I get why the album is on the 1001 list, it might have been somewhat style-defining at the time. I'll add "Can't Get Enough", "Don't Let Me Down", which is pretty similar to the eponymous Beatles song, and "Bad Company" to my playlist. 3/5 stars.
It is a playfully album, for me it lacks a little more personality to be honest. I enjoy the old school sounds but I can't say I will revisit it anytime soon 3/5
1074 - "Here's your juice box and orange slice. Thanks for coming."
Solid classic rock album.
There were a few in here i liked, but it didnt feel like they wanted it enough
ok
some metal band must have covered "Bad Company" in the 00ies and i quite liked it. it's so distant now that i don't even bother doing research, who it was. the album is alright and i've heard most of the songs before. typical 3-star material without any hiccups but also not really any highlights.
Interesante. Me encanta la portada. Me he guardado Seagull que me parece preciosa y Rock Steady.
A solid rock album that gets you toe tappin
Bueno
Solid rock that doesn't ewoke much feelings
Like the guitar, voice is okay not perfect, just some skips because unnoticeable songs
Not what I was expecting
Enjoyable if somewhat era generic
i've seen t shirts of this album, never actually heard it decent opener very groovy (this is exactly what stone gossard would listen to) very good, very pleasant
I thought I was going to have a snobby reaction to listening to this album, but it’s really a blast and is exactly what it’s intended to be. Gotta be the best self titled track on self titled album right
653/1101 - Oh boy, yet another blues rock album!
A solid 70's rocker. While it didn't blow my mind, I did find myself enjoying it quite a bit more than I anticipated as the album went on. I dig, I dig.
Man, do I hate this goddamn album.
Otroligt producerat! Låter som att de släpptes igår
2,5
Another one of those albums where I would rate it 7/10, so I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. However this one is enjoyable and highly listenable so I'm going to give it 4 and make a note to come back to it in the not-too-distant.
Perfectly cromulent music. Pleasant enough for a 7/10, but very much A 70s Hard Rock Album.
Perfectly fine 70s rock. Probably more like a 3.5. I was actually surprised with how many of these sounded familiar to me.
That was some very... unseasoned rock music. Maybe just a step above Rod Stewart. It's not bad at all, but I'm struggling to even pick a standout track because it all passed me by!
Pretty standard 70s rock stuff not leaving a big impression on me, but some high points like The Seagull and Ready for Love.
Like an old white tee shirt. Reliable but boring at the same time. Has also been crushed by 40 years of classic rock radio overplay.
Several of the songs on this album I think I've heard on the radio before (makes sense for classic rock songs). The music is bluesy and I get some hair metal but mostly Led Zeppelin vibes from it (no wonder, it being on Zeppelin's record label). "Ready For Love" was one of those familiar-sounding songs, and I loved the piano solo/parts in it. Everything else on the album was pretty okay too, not too meandering and I could tell the musicianship was good.
Top Gear soundtrack special.
The daddest of dad rock, pretty good
There is a song on this album called "Rock Steady," and I think that sums it up. This album sounds like a band that's working really hard to hold it together, to get it just right. The end result is about as exciting as you'd expect something that careful and dutiful to be.
Generic, repetitive and overall pretty boring.
There are so many musical sub-genres that I don’t know about, but is there one “milquetoast rock?” If not there should be and this album could be used as the example.
Listened before? No Familiar with the artist? Yes Thoughts: - Have heard a couple of these songs on the radio but wouldn't have been able to tell you who they were... - Song/artist/album name being the same is always funny to me. I think Bad Company is easily the best song on here though. Favorite track(s): Bad Company 😎
A very typical 70s rock album. Not energetic enough to be AC/DC, not bluesy enough to be Led Zeppelin, and not enough mind blowing guitar to be Van Halen. If you want some classic 70s rock this will suffice, but anything beyond that and this is lacking
One of those rare albums where I really liked it and liked the songs I didn't already know as much or more than the ones I did.
Dope
I'm probably over rating this, but who cares? Loved it. Punchy, well performed and didn't overstay it's welcome.
The term “supergroup” used very loosely here
My first listen through the record was largely a negative experience. It felt too muted and it felt like everyone was phoning it in despite the real talent here. However, the second time through was a more positive experience because I was listening for the record that it is, rather than listening for something that it isn't (aka a hard rock record closer to something like AC/DC or Slade) Instead, it only occasionally gestures toward hard rock conventions and is a softer moodier form of rock. I wouldn't say that this makes me think that its one of my favorites, but I can enjoy it a bit more. I also think that I like the second half of the record more than the first. I'm probably not going to listen to it again, but I'm glad I sat with it a bit more.
Buenaso
Cool short rock album
Solid classic rock album
Yea bro whatever. He likes having sex. Good for him. Probably without consent, too. He is a rock guy from the 70s, so it's more likely then not.
boring

Honestly felt pretty generic.
Dit is wel lekkere muziek.
If you are aura farming in a jean jacket in 1976 this is the album for you. I don't really know how to assess this album. A lot of the tracks got played to death on classic rock radio stations so I was pretty familiar. It's not outright bad. There are some iconic guitar riffs in there. I don't really like the singing but I can see why people would. I just don't feel strongly that this is a must-hear album.
Solid rock album with some classics on it.
How is this a UK band? And what's super about this supergroup? American sounding grandad rock - and I like some of it! A couple strong tracks, an American washed sound.
Conocidos por su tema estrella: Can't Get Enough. Versiones: Don´t let me down, que no aporta mucho.
nice
I mean, I know they were signed to Led Zeppelin’s record label, but it does just kind of sound like a watered down version of Zeppelin.
Really nice surprise, hadn’t listened before but this is a cracking wee album
Now this is some good old-fashioned rock and roll!
Loved it
Rock clásico con una gran voz Paul Rodgers y muy buenos instrumentistas. No se complican la vida y resultan muy disfrutables.
I like his voice
this is smoothbrain fun I guess? Nothing wrong with any of it...don't think it would crack my top 1001 albums of all time though!
The real question is this, in a battle between Bad Company and the Eagles, who would win the Dad Rock/Boomer Rock crown? It seems the edge has to go to the Eagles, but man, it would be close.
Any time I was asked by someone about which album was the best classic rock album, I would always answer: Bad Company - Bad Company. They caught magic in a bottle here. A band having fun and with incredible blues and rock chops, with one of the greatest vocalists rock music ever had. The songs are classic rock staples to this day. 5/5 and one of my favourite albums of all time.
I’m a sucker for this early 70s rock sound. Reminds me of just chilling on the back porch on a hot summer evening.
Nice dad rock. Great riffs. Slow builds on some songs.
Я не поняла я это уже слушала или нет
My first 5 star. Phenomenal.
One of the most successful supergroups in history, it brought together former members of major bands of the era: Free, Mott the Hoople, and King Crimson. Drawing on their experience and class, these four guys recorded one of the decade's best albums in just ten days. Each of their mothers could rightly exclaim, "Son, you’ve fallen in with a bad company!" — to which the son could proudly reply, "Mom, I founded it." The music here can be described using the term "dad rock" — a label that is simultaneously complimentary and disparaging. It consists of country-tinged blues and ballads — mostly mid-tempo, though some tracks even have a danceable groove. Listening to it evokes the feeling of riding a Wild West steed — only that steed is galloping down a highway. If your dad listens to old-school rock 'n' roll, he’ll like Bad Company. If you like Bad Company, you might want to consider becoming a dad yourself — if you haven't already.
Я ее основал
Hard rock in the early 1970s was actually pretty manageable, and often very good!
Straightforward pop rock - wasn't all bad then, not all bad today.
Its hard to belive this once was groundbreaking.
It is an okay album.
Disco mistura rock clássico/ básico com alguns temas mais melodiosos interessantes.
Good music for its era, but its era has long since passed and now the songs seem dated.
Leuke ontdekking!
Maybe I like seventies rock too much and I'm more critical towards the genre. Bad Company id nothing i've never heard before. A good but interesting album. Shouldn't be here.
Some very tame dad rock, in spite of the name
♥️♥️♥️
This album is 5x platinum. Which is so curious to me because it's totally fine. But - FIVE TIMES PLATINUM? There just isn't anything that outstanding about these songs. They're catchy. The performances are good, especially Rodgers's vocals. But maybe I'm just looking at this the wrong way. Maybe this album is just the best representation of what audiences in the 70s wanted out of their rock. Nothing too dramatic, or noodly, or dynamic, or introspective. Just - straight ahead rock about how much a dude wants chicks. Which is the one real detractor for me with this record. Just about every song is about how much this dude wants "love" RIGHT NOW. Like ok. We get it. You're horny. It's fine. And mericfully short at 34 minutes. An extra star for brevity! THREE STARS

Ba(lla)d Company
Bad Company (Bad Company, Bad Company, 1974) is the best Bad Company song on Bad Company named Bad Company. In all seriousness: this is a great snapshot of mid-70s classic rock, sporting the slightly American-twanged soft-rock vocal that was all the rage on both sides of the Atlantic. On the British side, The Rolling Stones made up the vanguard, with Led Zeppelin, the Who, and Def Leppard not far behind. A simple I-IV-V chord progression and riff in the opener, Can't Get Enough. It's the sort of thing you could listen to for hours – and, collectively, you probably have listened to hours of songs that cling to this same formula. There are dozens, though the only one I can think of right now is Angry, the modern Rolling Stones single. There's a damn good reason for being formulaic, though: it's an excellent thing to copycat. We get to a positive foot-tapping groove in the aptly named Rock Steady. Very driven. Takes a moment to work out the rhythm at the beginning, but I love that sort of thing. Great riff that I wish had gotten developed more in the guitar solo (though still a solid solo). Bad Company demonstrates their mood versatility in the slow, beautifully expressive Ready For Love. (Mood versatility is what usually separates 3-star from 4-star records, in my eyes.) That brief breakdown at the halfway mark and the soft piano solo that follows may be the finest point on the entire LP. The verses in Don't Let Me Down shine with understated emotion – nice piano and drums – but the chorus sounds so much like a Beatles knock-off that I had to check whether this was an original composition. (It was.) The main melody of the title track reminds me of No Quarter (Led Zeppelin). Though the atmosphere differs completely, I have to imagine Bad Company took some inspiration. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the two bands somewhat riffed off each other in the 1974/5 era. Regardless: fantastic song. The Way I Choose makes a slightly risky move, being the second slow 6/8 blues track on the record (out of eight tracks overall). Still, it's played very well, particularly those saxes in the background. Movin' On uses a similar riff to Can't Get Enough, plus a ridiculously driving rhythm. I don't quite understand Seagull, as a closing track or even just as a Bad Company song. A standard Mixolydian progression (VIIb-IV-I), some nice acoustic guitar and vocals... and not much else. That last bar of twinkly guitar is pretty pristine, though. 4/5 Key tracks: Can't Get Enough, Bad Company
Reminds me of arctic monkeys
This is just a great rock record. You don’t realize you know most of the songs and you heard them in the background on classic rock radio for years and never pay attention. But the songs are good. Paul Rodger’s voice is what I would imagine AI would come up with if you had to generate a male rock and roll singers voice. Everything about this feels organic. I don’t know if that’s the right word but it feels like it fits. Organically.
A debut album that sounds like a debut album. Fairly basic and doesn’t really jump out beyond the singles. Short, but still drags at times. Rating: 6/10 Favorite Song: Ready for Love, Bad Company
A supergroup (former members of Free, Mott the Hoople and King Crimson), the first ever release on Zeppelin's Swanson label, one of the biggest selling albums of the 70s, a major hit in 'Can't get enough' and a rock classic in 'Seagull', and a classic rock magazine favourite. I don't think the music fully lives up to the sum of the parts, no bad tracks but only two really significant ones but I think I am seriously late to the party with this band. Still good to hear a rock album for the first time.
I bet my dad loves this album. I enjoyed the vocals and the title track in particular. The ballads were hit or miss. I think the band should have picked a name that sounds more like their sound…I thought I was in for an early punk album. So in that respect I was pleasantly surprised as my thoughts on early punk music is well documented at this point.
Like it 3/5
This is OK. Like a heavier sounding Rolling Stones. Good production and singing. The songs are OK but just a little dull. Probably 3.5 but I'll round it it to 4.
Surprised that there's no 10 minute or longer tracks. 1/5
Pretty mediocre
Not really enjoying this album. Like a 2 star for me.
Middle of the road classic rock. Not great. Not terrible. Lots of radio hits, but none that I’m ever too excited to hear.
snooze-fest...even with the classic rock mainstays wikipedia calls this blues rock but i barely find any blues and it's pretty pussy rock if you ask me
