Reviews (page 3 of 8)
I really enjoyed this album. It was fun and entertaining.
There are some 70’s bands that were “too much” and makes them sound dated. Bad Company gets the radio play with the hits. This was an enjoyable listen.
Classic rock. A tad cheesy, but quality cheese
Pretty good. I’m usually not into older rock of this era but each track had something interesting to make it stand out. The vocals are the best part.
Just full of good songs. I didn't know I liked Bad Company.
fuck yeah
Didn't realize I knew that many Bad Company songs. Solid rock'n'roll that gets the job done. Extra star for Paul Rodgers, who is pretty damn great. Favorites: Can't Get Enough, Ready for Love, Bad Company Would I listen to it again: Yes
I might be the only one from my group to rate this one this high but its not my fault my first live concert was Bad Company and Styx.
This is real dadrock. None of this 'divorced dad rock' bullshit that so many people bang on about. Creed, Alice in Chains, whatever other small fry shit you wanna label. THIS is real dad rock. Those other bands only know of a simulacrum of pain, bands like THIS lived through real pain (lead poisoning). What kind of music is dadrock exactly? It's something that's best communicated through concepts: A car that smells like cigarettes, a warm can of beer, a Tommy Bahama shirt and asics, knees that don't work and a hairline that hasn't been within 5cm of your eyebrows since the Berlin Wall was standing. This is the musical equivalent of a carvery. It's functional, it's straightforward and it's popular with guys who are about to have 20-40 beers in a few hours. Regardless, it's a meat-and-potatoes hard rock album. The first half meanders until it gets into a groove with Ready For Love. Really only track one side A could be considered bad, even then it's a mid song. The album peaks on side B with the title track and The Way I Choose. The second half is much better and I found myself getting excited for it on repeat listens. Overall, a very solid album with one hell of a hit in the title track. Highlights: Bad Company, The Way I Choose
A classic album that influenced much of my childhood. It might help explain why I turned out the way I did.
# Playlist Track - Can't Get Enough # Notes - Not amazing, still pretty good.
Standard 70s rock album. I enjoy classic rock, and it's an album I haven't heard before. Fun listen, nothing offensive.
Surprisingly good.
This album is seriously like the textbook definition of hard rock of the 70s. I know some have stated that this album is overplayed and to an extent I agree but it is so damn good. Each track had a lot of energy, I particularly liked “Rock Steady”, “Don’t Let Me Down”, “The Way I Choose” and especially “Seagull” idk it was fantastic.
never heard of this one going in but really surprised me
Good AOR rock from back in the day
Look, there's nothing amazing about Bad Company. Just solid rock and roll. I like it. It makes me feel good to hear. This debut album is solid, lots of bangers on here. 3.81/5 stars Make sure to check out: Rock Steady Ready for Love Don't Let Me Down Bad Company Seagull
More bands need to have a song that is just their band's name. But this album is a classic 70s rock album that I don't think gets enough credit for how great it is. I know there's a lot of great music in that era, and this in is underrated IMO. Reminds me of Boston's first album. Oops all bangers.
I enjoyed this, and it put me in a good mood.
Pretty good for classic dad rock. Just heavy enough for my taste.
Album 842 of 1089 Bad Company - Bad Company (1974) Rating : 4 / 5 I’ve always known the hits from this one thanks to radio play, but this was my first time taking in the full album. It turned out to be much better than I expected. While their signature sound is definitely present throughout, they do mix things up just enough with some of the deeper tracks to keep it interesting. I even gave it a second listen, which says something. A clean, simple, confident rock record that earns its spot.
Pretty good album, Bad Company is such a good rock song.
Classic. Memorized every song. The one flaw of this album is that its just too middle of the road. Doesn't go too hard, but still goes hard. Ostentatious power ballads don't get too low or too high. Pretty much paves the way for the big arena rock bands too come like Foreigner, Journey, Night Ranger, etc etc etc. It's really good though, fun to hear again.
OMG I KNOW THESE GUYS 4/5 simply because it has the song bad company which i love. Also its funny the song is called bad company on the album bad company which is by bad company
Growing up in the 70’s, this was meat and potatoes rock. (In a very good way!) This was a great debut with some rock-solid bangers that still hold up today. An easy and enjoyable listen.
Lunka
I always heard that naming your band, album, and song with the same exact name was tempting fate, but I don’t think Bad Company had bad luck at all. As their debut album, BC knew their exact sound and hit the nail on the head. Several of their most known songs are on this album! And I was surprised how much blues was present and influenced their music. Maybe a 3.5, but I forgot how much I like “Ready for Love,” so whatever. 4 it is.
I often wonder how much the timing of albums affects my ratings. I was just in the right mood for this sort of thing yesterday - Saturday, on the way to the gym, pre workout kicking in. On another day it might've felt a bit cheesy.
Good Company imo.
Damn! If it hasn't been fun listening to this album again. In the end, for what it is...it really is great from start to finish, and sometimes you just need uncomplicated straight up 70s guitar rock.
Classic rock. Barbecue on Sunday music.
When this album finished, the first song Spotify played was Led Zeppelin's “The Ocean” (Houses of the Holy, 1973). It’s a little wild think about this album and that one being only 1 year apart. Where Zeppelin still feels very much like proto-hard rock, Bad Company feels like a more polished next step in the progression of rock’n’roll. Strange/interesting that BC was the first act signed to LZ’s record label. But when I step back, Bad Company sounds more like a descendant of Deep Purple, who were doing a version of this sound since the late 60’s (and who Paul Rodgers almost fronted before starting BC). For their part, Bad Company did craft a monster rock’n’roll album here. 50 years later, almost all of these songs feel familiar (“The Way I Choose” & “Seagull” being the exceptions), which says a lot. A very easy listen for me, even if I hate to admit enjoying Dad Rock. Maybe I should have taken Bad Company more seriously in my classic rock phase.
7/10
really enjoyed it, like a 3.7 but ill round up to 4
Not the most memorable hard rock, but I like hard rock enough to like this.
My mom had this album. I always used to flip through her records when I was growing up and for some reason this simple cover was burned into my brain. I miss her so much.
a classic
Great bluesy hard rock album. Paul Rodgers' voice is amazing throughout. Bad Company are one of the best rock supergroups and this debut album was a great opener.
8/10: Yeah this album is right smack dab in the middle of Rock and Roll. You could show this to any human you wanted to know what rock was and it would be perfect.
Okay, this was cool. Very easy listening. That voice man.
Bad Company is a great listen, and I encourage those who have not heard it to give it a spin and for those who do know it, go back to an old friend for a nice afternoon. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-bad-company-by-bad-company?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
3,6/5
for some reason these songs give MAJOR male fiona apple vibes, especially the song "bad company"- i did enjoy this a lot! i have never heard of this band before, but i really like it! it is a mix of chill, acoustic and electric, classic and utter rock! i will continue to listen to more of bad company's music probably!
Stocked with classics
Super fun and enjoyable album that’s very soothing and a great listen in the car
Solid record.
pure rock & roll. short and to the point 4/5
Better than I expect, actually had a little more depth once you got past the well known tracks
greta classic rock sounding grooves, great tracks
Enjoyed it!
If someone had told me that this was an album by Free, then I wouldn't have been surprised in the slightest. In fact, for the entire album, I was half-expecting them to break into "Wishing Well" or "Alright Now". It's not perfect by any means, and there's not much diversity of subject matter, but I feel 4 stars is fair.
This album has a ton of hits. WAY better than I expected.
Bad Company is an album i really have a soft spot for but i don't feel like i have a particular reason for it having a soft spot in my heart. Lets get one thing out of the way, this album is incredibly basic and simplistic especially for a hard rock album from the mid 70s (mainly when you consider that there were hard rock albums with more interesting elements that came out earlier) but i still really enjoyed this album. There were some unquestionably good songs and there wasn't a song that i would consider bad. It was also a pretty short listen too meaning that the album never had a chance to get repetitive. This album gets a really mild 4 mainly because i just don't really have a big reason for liking it yet i still do like it. Best Song: Bad Company Worst Song: Movin' On
Like a template for a Rock and Roll Album. Filled with songs indelibly ingrained into the musical landscape.
Jeez, I’ve never listened to this album but I already knew all the songs because they all play on the local classic rock stations. Solid rock with some classic, classic songs.
Bad company is actually very good company!
I really enjoyed this album and now I finally know where five finger death punch song Bad Company comes from.
Grandad rock but with really good songwriting, a lot of variety, and a strong vocal performance. 4.0/5.0: Great
thought i only knew one of these but ended up recognizing way more of them than i expected. a little boring at times but at such a short runtime i wont hold it against them. overall pretty solid album
Good album
## In-Depth Review of *Bad Company* by Bad Company The self-titled debut album *Bad Company* by the British supergroup Bad Company, released in 1974, is a landmark in classic rock. Featuring Paul Rodgers (vocals), Mick Ralphs (guitar), Simon Kirke (drums), and Boz Burrell (bass), the album blends blues-rock, hard rock, and soulful balladry. Below is a detailed analysis of the album's lyrics, music, production, themes, and influence, along with its pros and cons. --- ### **Lyrics** The lyrics on *Bad Company* are straightforward and often revolve around themes of love, freedom, and rebellion. While not overly sophisticated, they are effective in conveying raw emotion. Tracks like "Can't Get Enough" and "Movin' On" focus on hedonistic pursuits and the restless spirit of rock 'n' roll. In contrast, "Seagull" ventures into introspection with poetic ambiguity. However, some critics have noted that the lyrics can feel clichéd at times, particularly on songs like "Rock Steady," which lacks depth compared to other tracks[2][3][5]. The title track, "Bad Company," stands out lyrically as an anthem of defiance and self-identity. Its imagery of the Wild West complements the song's dark tone, creating a sense of mystique. However, the attempt to romanticize violence and rebellion has been questioned for its thematic coherence[2]. --- ### **Music** Musically, *Bad Company* is a masterclass in simplicity and effectiveness. The album thrives on Mick Ralphs' guitar work, which alternates between bluesy riffs and melodic leads. Songs like "Can't Get Enough" showcase infectious hooks that became instant classics. Ralphs' ability to craft memorable riffs is evident throughout the album[3][5]. Paul Rodgers' vocals are another highlight. His voice exudes both power and vulnerability, perfectly suited to the album's mix of hard rock anthems and soulful ballads. Tracks like "Ready for Love" demonstrate his ability to convey longing and passion with subtlety[5]. The rhythm section—Simon Kirke on drums and Boz Burrell on bass—provides a solid foundation. Kirke's drumming is understated yet effective, while Burrell's bass lines add depth without overshadowing the melodies[5]. However, some critics argue that certain tracks lack musical innovation. For instance, "Rock Steady" feels repetitive compared to more dynamic songs like "Don't Let Me Down," which features an expansive arrangement with saxophone lines and vocal harmonies[3][5]. --- ### **Production** The production by Bad Company themselves (with assistance from engineer Ron Nevison) is clean and unpretentious. Recorded at Headley Grange using Ronnie Lane's Mobile Studio, the album captures a raw yet polished sound that emphasizes the band's live energy[5]. The mix allows each instrument to shine without overcrowding the arrangements. One notable production choice is the minimalist approach to overdubs. This decision gives tracks like "Seagull" an intimate feel while maintaining the immediacy of a live performance[3]. However, some listeners might find the production too restrained compared to more adventurous albums of the era. --- ### **Themes** Thematically, *Bad Company* explores freedom, love, rebellion, and existential musings: - **Freedom and Rebellion:** The title track embodies a rebellious spirit with its outlaw imagery. Similarly, "Movin' On" celebrates life on the road as a metaphor for freedom. - **Love:** Tracks like "Can't Get Enough" and "Ready for Love" delve into romantic longing but approach it from different angles—one lustful and energetic, the other introspective. - **Existential Reflection:** "Seagull" stands apart as a contemplative piece that questions life's meaning through abstract imagery. While these themes resonate well with classic rock audiences, they occasionally lack nuance or originality[2][3]. --- ### **Influence** *Bad Company* was instrumental in shaping the sound of 1970s rock. Its blend of blues-rock simplicity with arena-ready anthems influenced countless bands in subsequent decades. The album reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard charts and solidified Bad Company's status as one of rock's premier acts[2][5]. The success of tracks like "Can't Get Enough" demonstrated how accessible yet powerful rock music could dominate mainstream radio. Additionally, Paul Rodgers' vocal style became a blueprint for many hard rock singers who followed[5]. However, some critics argue that while *Bad Company* was influential within its genre, it did not push musical boundaries as much as contemporaries like Led Zeppelin or Queen[3][5]. --- ### **Pros** 1. **Strong Performances:** Paul Rodgers delivers one of his finest vocal performances on this album. 2. **Memorable Songs:** Tracks like "Can't Get Enough," "Ready for Love," and "Bad Company" are timeless classics. 3. **Cohesive Sound:** The band achieves a balance between hard rock energy and soulful balladry. 4. **Accessible Production:** The clean production highlights each instrument without overcomplicating arrangements. 5. **Cultural Impact:** The album helped define 1970s blues-rock and inspired future generations of musicians. --- ### **Cons** 1. **Lyrical Simplicity:** Some songs rely on predictable or clichéd lyrics. 2. **Lack of Innovation:** While effective, the music does not break new ground compared to peers like Led Zeppelin. 3. **Inconsistent Quality:** Tracks like "Rock Steady" feel less inspired than standout moments such as "Don't Let Me Down." 4. **Limited Experimentation:** The band sticks closely to traditional rock structures without exploring more adventurous territory. --- ### **Conclusion** *Bad Company* remains a quintessential debut album that encapsulates the essence of 1970s rock: raw energy, emotional depth, and memorable songwriting. While it may not be groundbreaking in terms of innovation or lyrical complexity, its strengths lie in its execution and accessibility. For fans of blues-rock or classic rock in general, this album is essential listening despite its minor flaws. It captures a band at their peak creativity while laying the foundation for their enduring legacy in rock history.
I was not expecting to like this so much. I recognized a lot of songs, and the singers voice is so great. I just love this basic sound.
Classic Album. Brings me back to my college days in the 90s. Some staples of rock on this album.
...(.
86/100. Bad Company’s self-titled debut is a fantastic start to their career—arguably their peak. With so many great tracks, it set a high bar that was difficult to outdo later. The album blends blues rock and hard rock, a combination that works perfectly for their raw, powerful sound. A strong and timeless debut that still holds up today.
The definition of AOR. Fun but inoffensive but good to listen to.
Pretty good! I have a vinyl from Bad Company (it's Desolation Angels) but I've never really given it a listen, I just liked that it was extremely cheap (because it had like 2 scratches) and had cool cover art. But this album was really good and I'll listen to it again.
Surprised how much I liked this! Jammy and certainly a style of hard rock that resonates with me more than many of the albums on this list. More of 3.5
Decent rock album
Muy buen rock, muy disfrutable y con algunos temazos que parecen decir “seré rockero, pero también soy romántico, nena”.
Bluesy rock very well played. Not my jam, but definitely best in class.
A perfect highlight of the difference between “hard rock” then and now. Great classic album, though.
Good album.
Fantastic. Short, no filler. Except maybe that seagull track.
Innovative for it's time with a few great tracks.
OK this is solid 3.5 stars for me. The album sounds great - clean, well mic'd, mixed and produced. This doesn't sound like it was from a specific period. The musicians are all great, lots of thoughtful guitar and bass playing on this album. Are all the songs the best ever? Not really, but there's a some excellent songs and a good deal to enjoy otherwise. I wasn't tempted to skip this one. The hits are hits for a reason, they're damn catchy tunes. So I'll give it 4 here, but really that's a sold 3.5 for me. I'll pull this back out every once in a while and I'll enjoy it if a song pops up.
Not "bad". Every song on this album is recognizable from my youth except Seagull despite my never having owned this album. And Seagull is a classic blues song (I frequently enjoy listening to Joe Bonamassa's cover of Seagull). Strong and consistent as you'd expect from a supergroup like this.
Nothing fancy...just solid classic rock.
Such a great album and Paul Rodgers has a fantastic rock and roll voice. Always loved the song Bad Company. The album is a bit slow at times, but overall a great listen.
It's pretty safe standard rock, but it's a pleasant listen. Probably no real genre altering choices made here, but just good ol rock. Definitely nothing wrong with a dash of that from time to time.
Bad Co is a great debut album! Surprised this band didn’t make it bigger. Album is short and sweet with a lot of diversity. L’s favorite band through high school. Title cut carries it for L = (4.5*s) The slower, thought provoking Seagull brings Bad Co in for J = (4.4*s)
Have always loved this album and the simple text-based cover art, a bold choice for the early 70's (that I appreciated even as a kid). I never really thought about this being their debut, makes it even better really. But how the hell did I not know they're British? Paul had me fooled, this man really be singing like a full-blooded American and he's actually from Thornaby Ingleby Barwick. To my defense, they toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd so I can't be the only one. This album is Rock Steady, no skips. 4.0.
Bad Company is a worthy debut. Not a bad song on it...top being title track. Just pure classic rock. So weird to hear Paul Rodgers in interviews with a heavy British accent and sing with a smooth American voice though. They might get another album on the list and I won't be mad about it. 3.65 stars for this one.
Big fan of Paul Rodgers and Bad Company (the band). Bad Company (the album) is such a solid rock debut. Both side A and B are solid with 3 bangers and 1 "miss" but even that is probably too harsh as neither of the off tracks deserve a skip. If I could I would remove 2 songs but it doesn't mean that it's not still a great album. Bad Company (the song) and Seagull remain a couple of my favorite songs and get regular play outside the album. Hoping Bad Company has at least one more entry on this list. I've always enjoyed them and they hold a special place for me as one of the premier acts to come from Swan Song Records. 3.98 stars
4 out of 5. Good ol' fashioned dad rock.
NGL I knew "Can't Get Enough" and was fully prepared for the rest of the album to be pretty weak. I was surprised! Most of the songs range from good to genuine ear candy, with "The Way I Choose" and "Seagull" being less memorable cuts.
Such badass Rock songs almost all hit the bullseye
#459. Quintessential dad rock. 4/5: hell yeah
3 great songs, the rest are a bit tedious
full of classics. pretty good.
This was surprisingly good.
Hard Rock? Ich weiß nicht, eher Progressive Rock. Aber recht gut!
I love listening to the radio, always have. The problem with that is less the songs they play you don't like but the songs you do like and they overplay. 2/3rds of this album was massively overplayed. The songs are great but I just don't want to hear them again. As for my preference, I'd give it a 3.5/5. For the world, it's a 4.5 because it certainly should be heard by evryone.
A solid effort with a couple of classics- pure 70’s. Paul Rodgers is a fantastic vocalist.
This album doesn’t reinvent the wheel or do much of anything special. It’s basically a half-hour does of classic rock. These aren’t the most amazing songs I heard. But for what it is, Bad Company works well. There is a nice variety and I enjoyed a little more than I thought I would. So at least it’s consistent. Favorite track: Bad Company Other hits: Seagull, Movin’ On, The Way I Choose
A solid, though very short, album. I'll never not be amused saying 'the song Bad Company, by Bad Company, on the album Bad Company.'
Pretty solid. Glamourous rock and roll with a variety of inspiration. Executed well. I thought Seagulls was a weak closer but the rest are solid with some being downright good with some wicked guitar. Pleasantly suprised.
super solid rock album. had some eagles vibes now and then
Don’t know much about Bad Company, apart from the big track on this album, so again this will be a new experience. This album didn't disappoint. There was probably a time in my younger days that I'd have rejected this sound out of hand, but with advancing years I find I quite enjoy this classic 70's heavy rock sound. I can totally understand why this is on the list. Definitely a good album.
Quite the fan of this album and bad company in general. I’m glad they made it on here because I feel their work goes unappreciated sometimes - the talent made me smile
That Paul Rodgers, he can sing. This isn’t the album though. You need Paul kossoff- as great as mick Ralph’s is. Another band where a greatest hits would have led listeners to glory. Bad company is a great song.
A nice surprise
Didn't realize how many of these I know. Anyway this is pretty good. Better than I used to like it probably since I haven't been bombarded with it in the radio in years.
Me gustó!!! disco de rock clásico setentero muy bien configurado.
Es de esos discos de los que escuchás los primeros 10 segundos y ya sabés que te va a gustar
****A really good album I really enjoyed
Bad Company's self titled album was remarkably successful for a debut album. The band was a "supergroup," of sorts, comprised of former members of King Crimson, Mott the Hoople, and Free. Their previous work certainly gave them some notoriety, but their bluesy, guitar heavy hard rock is what really made them famous. This album includes some of their biggest hits, like "Can't Get Enough," "Moving On," and "Bad Company." These songs feature Paul Rodger's soulful vocals and Mick Ralph's screaming guitars. Together, they made a sound that helped define 70s popular music, and had since become staples of "classic rock" stations.
There’s no better experience in life than listening to the song Bad Company by the band Bad Company on the album Bad Company while I’m playing the game Battlefield: Bad Company and I have my rude friends over (they are bad company) who all work for Amazon (a bad company)
Confession: I bought my first Bad Company album, this one, in 1983. I thought it was from around then. Yesterday I discovered it is early 70's. Why does that matter? Because it still does not "feel" 70's per se. In fact it has a kind of timeless quality to it that makes it quite easy to still enjoy. I have not really listened since those early years. Now that has some significance as I thought they were quite good but not someone I would continue to follow forever. So I would give three stars for sure. NOW! The idea that this was a debut album and it was from around ten years earlier than I would have guessed... This must have been amazing when it dropped! So add a star for that alone.
Was a bit apprehensive because I did not recognize any of the members of this "supergroup." But it was better than I was expecting. Low 4.
I'm familiar with Bad Company as a '70s hard rock supergroup. The title track of this self-titled debut album is still a staple on classic rock radio stations. The rest of this album is on par with that title track. It is a collection of blues-influenced rocking tunes, carried largely by Paul Rodgers' bold tenor vocals. Sure, the lyrics aren't as deep, as is typical for this territory, but it has a charm, especially with the mellow closer "Seagull" that mixes it up at the end with the acoustic guitar. It's certainly worth a listen.
Does any other album more clearly define classic rock than this? It's a lean affair — eight songs, no production bells and whistles, the arrangements are no-nonsense, everyone sticks to the basics. Paul Rodgers has one of the most recognizable (and killer) blues/rock rasps in rock history, and there are a few timeless tracks on here. So how is this not a 5-star album? I don't know. It just landed at a 4 in my brain and musical heart.
Bad Company is one of those bands that I've heard of, but before listening to this album didn't realize that I knew so much of their stuff. Not world changing, but really solid, well crafted songs.
OK,
Probably more of a 3, but I have Rush’s 2112 a “3” and I want to know that at least old person rated Bad Company higher than they did 2112.
Old school rock album
Great solid classic hard rock songs that are easy to remember.
Dad rock! Hey I’m a dad
Lots of genuinely great rock tunes. There's a lame song here or there, but the hard stuff rocks.
Pretty good all the way through. I want to give it a 5, but something is holding me back from doing it. So I'm going to go 4/5
Like it
Very strong entry in the “greatest rock vocalist” generic classic rock sub-genre. It’s cool when someone acknowledges they’re bad news 😎
Good company
Great production on this rock record with lots of highs. Good voice and catchy choruses with complimenting instrumental work. Nice
Very good classic rock. An easy, enjoyable listen but did not contain enough quality to merit 5 stars.
Enjoyed Bad Company more than expected! Pretty sweet rock tunes. Will check out more of them!
It's Dad Rock but it's actually just a really solid album.
This is just a great, up the middle classic rock album.
Brilliant. Every song. Paul Roger’s voice.
I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS ALBUM! I literally looked at the list of albums, noticed the album cover thinking it was Bad Company and thought "Wait, is Bad Company on the list?" I went to check and realized that they're on here and thought "Oh cool, another artist on the list that was referenced in JoJo!" Not even a minute later, I clicked the next album button and Bad Company is right there! HOW?!?!! Weird mind powers aside, this album's pretty good. I'd say it's one of the better 70s rock albums I've listened to. The sound is solid and so is the singing. The writing is alright. A bit repetitive, but mostly pretty good. The album's nice and short so it doesn't drag. This is just a good experience. They may call themselves a Bad Company, but they're pretty good in my eyes. 4/5.
Like the guitar
This was a fun one. Kind of basic but fun to listen to, none the less.
Classic dad rock, iconic voice, short duration. The non-hits are a bit forgettable
post-Free Boro singer Paul Rodgers in a pretty good blues/rock effort
Great record, probably a top ten best debut album.
Really good album from beginning to end. Just a great 70s rock album.
Very strong for a debut record. Such an iconic lead vocalist with some great hard rocking riffs throughout the record.
Surprisingly rocking.
Honestly a better rock album than most on this list
Great classic rock!
I'm a sucker for blues rock, this was really solid.
After a couple bad albums, this comes up. Classic. Thank you. Standouts: Can’t Get Enough, rock steady, Ready for Love, Bad Company, Movin’ On 4.5
rokanrolito bien de fa años. 4/5 5to resultado en youtube, y en youtube music no esta. Tan importantes no seran estos
I can’t get enough of Paul Roger’s. Underrated singer..
I enjoyed that
Some great anthems and a pretty deep second side.
Had never listened to this whole album. Really enjoyed it.
Surprisingly very good. Movin on, is the only song that doesn’t belong.
I wonder how many artists can say that their greatest hit is their self title song off their self titled album? Bad Company: Bad Company - Bad Company Not every album needs to be deep and meaningful. Sometimes "I want you to stay, I want you today, I'm ready for love, baby I'm ready for love" is all you need to say. This was a solid rock album start to finish. It's not going to change anyone's life, but I'm sure most people would enjoy it.
Sounds good, maybe not so exciting towards the end, not sure.
It sounded like every other 70s rock band, which means it was good, but it didn't really stand out. 3.5 stars.
no complains no praises, love a short album that doesn't overstay
Great album that I have listened to many times. I give it a hard 4 overall but this really is an album I could listen to anytime. Bad company comes up on all the classic rock playlists I have
I used to listen to this album so much when I was younger, not quite sure why or how I found it but it was constantly on. This is just good old fashioned rock and I think that every song on this album is very good. Bad Company the song is the obvious top hit which gets me pumped every time. Seagull is a nice way to end on a slow note after an otherwise pretty high energy album. Nothing spectacular about this album but it is always a great listen.
Bad Company hit the scene in the summer of 1974. The summer before I started high school, a fine time. And the album made a huge splash, topping the Billboard album charts and selling 5x Platinum. And I had one of those 5 million sold, mine was on 8 track tape. Yes, this was the sound of that particular slice of the 70’s. It was all over the radio, and one of my heavy-rotation albums back then. annd still a staple of and almost every song from the album was a staple of Classic Rock today. And I still listen to it occasionally 50 years later. That said, it’s not really “compelling”…. It’s not deep and meaningful. One of my favorites, but never my actual favorite. Just good, solid, mid-70s rock. It’s a notable coincidence that the first single (Can’t Get Enough) was on the charts at the same time as the Rolling Stones’ “It’s Only Rock And Roll (But I Like It)”. And sometimes that’s enough. Bad Company would go on to release 4 more successful albums in the 70’s, but none were as good (or as successful) as this debut. Solid 4.5/5, but rounds down to 4
Good album idk what to say
A lot less heavy than I thought it would be. Even the heavier tunes in comparison to today’s music is pretty low key. But it’s great stuff. I was surprised by how much more low-key most of the album is. But the recording is great, sounds very much like a band playing in a room, warts and all. Not overly polished, but still a gem.
Classic rock from a classic band.
It's one of the greatest classic rock albums of all time. What I never knew until last week was that they're British! Honestly, to hear their voices, I had no clue! Ha!
I’m struggling to find organized thoughts about this album, so I’ll leave it at this: I like it mmmmm yeahhhhh.
More like Dad Company
The album is way shorter than I remember, so I really flew through this. Super good listen!
Remember the good old times. Perfect choice.
Bra solid straight forward rock n roll!
Super easy listening with a nice little blues riff edge. Particularly liked the sax solo into guitar solo on song I can't remember the name of
Solid, classic rock album
I preferred the early original bands and surprised at the change of direction. But listenable back in the 70s and still ok today. Strangely they seem to lack energy and excitement.
A band, album and song with the same name? Sign me up.
Pleasantly surprised! Enjoyed!
Listened Before? N I may or may not have heard this whole album before, but it has so many classics I feel like I definitely have. Just a solid mainstream rock record from the '70s. Also, personal bias - I just really like this one. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Ready for Love, Bad Company
On repeat: rock steady and ready for love, very antique sounds, chill and enjoyable, old rock’s essence in an album
Trevligt att höra catchy låtar efter lång torka
One of the greatest albums of all time. Still a must-listen nearly 40 years after its release. 5/5.
Really good enjoyable! It had a good variety and they wasnt trying to hard imo.
Liked everything but Seagull which was a load of shite. Bad Company and Can’t Get Enough are both great songs.
Mega classic.
Classic album with some solid rock songs.
very fun, ide u lajk
Fine. Good background music and rocks.
4.5/5
Not what I’d usually listen to but it was quite enjoyable. It’s funny hearing such an epic song about a seagull when the seagulls that live near my house are the most annoying creatures on the planet.
Classic! Standouts: Can’t Get Enough, Ready For Love, Bad Company, Movin’ On, Others: Rock Steady, Don’t Let Me Down, The Way I Choose, Seagull 4.5
Really good! I especially enjoyed the vocals.
Great album some timeless classics
Decent fan of bad company. Probably my favorite album that's been generated so far
Real good stuff 86/100
Classic album
This is like an album from a fictional band in a movie set in the 70's
Damn, this was the third album in a row of 4 stars, that's worth something these days. Bad Company has been in my heart for a while thanks to Dad, he put us on. Their title track on their self-titled album, that's what we're all here for. It's really just absurdly good, the way the song builds to the "drop" if you will is just killer. The run up of songs on this album to that point are quite good too, I know a lot of these well. Loses steam on the back end, but the highs are high enough to make this a great album. Favorite tracks: Bad Company, Can't Get Enough, Ready for Love, Rock Steady. Album art: Simple and effective. Band name in white over black background. I do find it annoying that they write "Bad Co." when everywhere else it's "Company" written out. 4/5
Genres: Arena rock, blues rock, hard rock Formed: 1973 Run time: 8 songs, 34 min, 44 sec Bad Company are an English rock supergroup formed by singer Paul Rodgers (Free), guitarist Mick Ralphs (Mott the Hoople), drummer Simon Kirke (Free) and bassist Boz Burrell (King Crimson). Spotify: Least popular song: almost 2M Most popular song: >97M plays. It should come as no surprise that if you liked Free, you’ll like Bad Company (and vice-versa). "Can't Get Enough", is about the singer's desire to win a particular lover. Then comes the intensity of the love the singer feels, but this is unrequited, followed by the eventual rejection. "Rock Steady" is about sharing the healing power of music and its ability to reach a state of contentment. "Ready for Love" is about the journey through life and the desire to share it with someone. "Don't Let Me Down" is about the desire and need to find a deep connection with someone. "Bad Company". The name of the group and this song comes from a western film. This song continues this theme and describes those who keep bad company and a life of violence are perpetually trapped in that life. "The Way I Choose" is about being true to oneself and being open and honest with others. "Movin' On" describes the lot of a touring musician - that of constant travel and never settling for a while. "Seagull" is a metaphor for going through life alone. Nobody knows where the gull came from or where it is going. I would suggest an albatross would have been a more appropriate bird to choose for the song, as they fly many solitary miles. A seagull on the other hand is usually part of a flock and not alone. It’s a melancholy and poignant song, slightly spoilt by the fact nobody actually likes seagulls, especially if you’ve ever tried eating fish and chips by the seaside. On the whole, the album conveys a yearning for love. The real love of a soul-mate. I imagine given the stories of excess we hear about rock groups, particularly from the 70’s that they would struggle to find anything more meaningful than sex and lust. It must have been such an unfulfilling life. Listen Again?: Yes My Rating: ****
Even better than I expected
Great album!
OK it's Dad Rock but it's good Dad Rock.
Great rock albu.
Absolute classic from front to back. Brings me back to my teenage years. Great vocals throughout, powerful if sometimes formulaic songwriting. Seagull is a hidden gem at the end of the album
The ultimate in inoffensive butt rock. Totally groovin’ and nothing too far out there. You wouldn’t get any complaints or compliments playing this at a backyard BBQ.
There’s so much good rock music from the 70s. I knew it existed but never really listened to it. But it’s great.
So I have to say I have a couple memories of listening to this one in the el camino. What a solid album. Honestly not one skip. Soulful blues-tinged rock by a group of guys who had already been doing their thing in their respective groups for several years.
I love Bad Company. Bad Company the song was my pump up song before exams in college. The album is really good. 8.5/10.
When rock bands could be rock bands and just put out a great album. Bonus points for real drums and guitars (goes without saying).
At first was a little unsure of getting this album because when I think Bad Company, I think overplayed FM rock radio. However, this album is just about everything you could ask for from 1970’s rock music: good energy, memorable riffs and melodies, killer lead vocals from Paul Rodgers, and a concise album that’s less than 40 min. Extra point for real drums and guitar, this one honestly flirted with 5 stars for me. Enjoyed the deep cuts just as much as the hits.
Nothing ground breaking but a pretty fun rock record. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
Bad Company man.
solid debut album by paul rodgers and the boys. plenty of rock to go around with this one. in fact, one could say “i can’t get enough”. highlights: “can’t get enough” “ready for love” “bad company”
Going in, I was very familiar with about half the songs on this album (mostly the first half). A tight 34 minutes of good old fashioned straight up 70’s rock with a great lead singer. But like I alluded to, while I was familiar with half the songs, I had never heard the other half as I had heard the hits so much on the radio so I never needed to buy or even listen to the album. Tracks 1-3 are all-timers (in that they’re great songs that have earned their place wherever you hear them) and #5 (the title track) is even above THAT level. #4 is a Beatles cover and felt like on the track listing it would’ve worked better after the title track but it was the age of the album so I get why they’d put that as the side ender and start fresh with Bad Company (the song, not the album…..or band, lol). #6 is The Way I Choose and it’s a pretty solid bluesy ballad. I actually like this in an early Springsteen kinda way. #7 is Moving On and even though I don’t think I’ve heard it, it earns its place along with the first three songs. Great forgotten song. #8 is titled Seagull and I’m guessing it was a Free Bird homage of some sort but more folksy. Almost like a Led Zeppelin track. It’s ok. 4 great songs (including an all-timer) and 2 new really good songs. The two side-enders are the weakest of the 8 but aren’t terrible. I love how there’s no filler on here. Add 2 or 3 blah songs and this album would be getting a 3. 34 minutes of half straight up rocking and half ballad-y type love songs and this really is a 70’s gem. I was expecting a 3 but this is a 4 from me, dawg.
Classic rock done right. Great album.
Unabashedly oozing with Rock. Simple yet satisfying
Very soft rock but a very good listen. Feels very familiar, with sounds I've encountered around rock, suggesting it influenced many modern rock forms, or was itself influenced by beatles, stones etc. Overall very enjoyable listen and feels as if it grows in a tenderness as it goes along. Maybe not a recreational one for me personally but good to get an appreciation for earlier and more classic (albeit not the most famous or well-known) sounds of rock.
There is a type of rock that sounds like it could have been from any time between 72 and 2008. This is that.
I sure loved this album as a teenager, and I am very fond of it since it’s one of the albums my wife and I listened to early on in our relationship. Standouts to me are Rock Steady, Ready for Love, Bad Company, The Way I Choose, and my favorite Segull. 4 out of 5 album, still crazy it was the first album released on Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records!
Finally, some nice, classic dad rock. And no grandoise AOR either, just some blues-inspired hard rock. As an album, it’s not really an artistic statement. More like a collection of songs with no underlying theme. So if you’re looking for that in your albums, you won’t find it here. The music is par for the course hard rock. No new invention or improvisation to be found here. But the songs themselves aren’t hindered by this fact. The band sounds full of life, and the sound has a head-nodding punch to it, akin to a less-wild The Who. Worth the listen if you’re looking for a good album to drive to, but not really an “album” to come back to. Standout Songs: “Can’t Get Enough” “Don’t Let Me Down” “Bad Company” “Seagull”
There's something about an album called Bad Company by a band called Bad Company with a song called Bad Company on it. For real though, great classic rock here. Heavy instrumentation with a lighter singing voice pairs so nicely here. Favorite track: Can't Get Enough
Je trouve que mon père est toujours en mauvaise compagnie quand il sort à la fête forraine avec eltrapeze.
Rock
With all the musical experimentation that happened around the '70s, I think that these straightforward, no-fuss albums are still among those that'll stand the test of time. It's classic, "classic rock" and Bad Company does it really well. There are no frills, no gimmicks, no real risks but that's exactly what makes it great. It's just a good old fashioned rock record that's a lot of fun to listen to. Standout tracks were Can't Get Enough, Don't Let Me Down, Bad Company, and Movin' On.
bad bad company..
I haven’t listened to Bad Company in years, and thoroughly enjoyed this!
This is a bad ass debut album. Almost every track is solid...I could personally leave The Way I choose off of it, but aside from that a pretty straight forward rock and roll type album.
Solid debut
As someone who spent a lot of time in my teenage years listening to classic rock radio, there are definitely some songs here I do not need to ever hear again "Ready For Love, " "Rock Steady" and the title track for instance. "Can't Get Enough" might also be a bit overplayed but it's a real banger. A couple of the deep tracks, "The Way I Choose" (horn section!) and "Seagull" were the best Bad Company songs I've never heard. I felt like this was gonna be a straight up 3 star album but I'm giving it four despite being permanently sick of a couple of the more popular songs.
Fantastic rock album, short and sweet. Must have listened to it about 4 times. Apart from "Bad Company" and "Can't Get Enough" they're fairly forgettable songs but that didn't stop me enjoying the album.
4 stars
I love this album! Love the blues rock sound of it and the mix is flawless. They lost me a bit in one or two songs, but overall a nice album.
Really just a great classic rock record, Seems I've listened to five finger death punch's cover of the song bad company more than the original but the hook is really catchy in both
Very enjoyable from start to finish
Can’t get enough: ROCK Ready for love: sounds like Eric clapton Don’t let me down: think I know this one
Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Can’t get enough, Rock steady, Ready for love, Don’t let me down
A much listened to album from my teen years. Loved it then. Loved it today.
Really nice groove, very comforting
Good selection of rock tunes. I did lose interest on some of the slower tracks though. Favourite: Bad Company
Man what an amazing record. Almost a 5!! Out of everything so far, This is the first record that I have listened to many times and will listen to it many more times.
I would say it’s Pretty Good Company.
Hell Yeah!
Better than I expected
Paul Rodgers? How can you miss?
Good dad rock baseline with some catchy hooks.
Paul Rogers is one of my all time favorite singers, just love his voice. While I like his work in Free better this first Bad Co album is really good. Yeah a little more radio friendly and less bluesy but a fun album. Rock Steady can't get enough of that song.
A good bit of stadium rock. Knew a lot of these from the classic rock stations. Pretty good all the way through.
Going to need a second listen, but I enjoyed this one a lot.
Great mom rock
A classic for a reason, driving guitars and drums, lyrics have the outlaw vibe. A very consistent album
Who doesn't love some cheesy rock to make love to?
Prima album
Honestly, this is just a cool album. I'm not sure if it was groundbreaking at the time because I lack a lot of context for what was happening in the sort of straightforward rock groups at this time. Certainly, this sound is present in a lot of 70s groups, but I'm not sure if it originated before Bad Company (it's blues rock, so...probably). However, it's a groovy album with a bunch of hits 4/5
I enjoyed this album. My favorite songs were Rock Steady and The Way I Choose. I feel like I have to be in the right mood for this style of music, but when I am, it hits the spot.
Some fun songs. They're never in the top 5 or 10 bands I think of when I think classic rock, but they could be.
I liked this album.
Warm slice of apple pie 29/07/22
Easy, good quality classic rock.
This is an amazing album. I may be biased because this was the first album I ever listened to when I was a kid, but it’s just great listening.
I enjoyed just about every song on this self titled Bad Company album. Would give a listen again!
Solid
Nice
Til the day i die
Good classic rock
Much better than expected. Solid classic rock
Some of the most classic of rock
My favorite rock song on Bad Company by Bad Company is Bad Company (Bad Company version). But really this album rules.
The album Bad Company by the band Bad Company featuring the hit single Bad Company. The irony? You're in pretty good company on this album.
A favourite from back in the day that hasn't been on my radar for decades. It's held up way better than I thought it would.
ULTIMATE DAD ROCK, I surprised myself because I enjoyed itn
I loved listening to this! Groundbreaking!? No… But SO MUCH FUN! I have a soft spot for 70’s rock, mostly always what my dad had on the radio.
Makes me want to find a dive bar with a jukebox.
This is an album I’m familiar with but had never listened to fully. With that being said, I feel like I have at least heard each song on this album at least once at some point in my life. No misses and a classic in classic rock
Love this album
Rock clásico bien elaborado, con buenos acordes y buena voz.
A decent rock album
I like this - easy classic rock vibes.
Never heard of bad company but this is some great 70’s rock. All songs have a great sound, solid album! Favourite songs: - Can’t get enough - Ready for love
surpreendeu
supergrupo memo
Good bit of rock
Decent album.
Peak dad rock
Solid classic rock. 3.75
A benchmark Hard Rock album, beautifully simple and direct
Bem bom.
Fed rock og en stærk start på lækkert album. 4 stjerner
All I hear is Tom Scharpling hanging up on boring callers.
Pretty straightforward.
straightahead catchy 70s rock. the sound of drinking a Miller Lite in a dive bar with a lot of woodsy accents. Surprised this is a British group since it all feels o Americacore to me 3.5/5
Really rockin'.
Solid classic rock album. Really liked that it was short and sweet.
Can’t Get Enough, Bad Company, and Seagull already some of my most liked songs. The other tracks were good, but didn’t stand out compared to those 3. Still a good album.
Straightforward 1970s stadium rock. Well done, but seemed somewhat soulless. The vocalist was good.
Leuke rock. Ga ik vaker naar luisteren
Just a really solid classic rock album with some great hits. Very very good.
Good album with good range of tunes
Pretty good late 70's rock.
Lots of songs I recognize. I dig the over-distorted guitar amps, good old school sound.
Solid
Solid classic rock album stacked with hits. Surprised by the Southern rock undertones with occasional allman bros vibes. Great composition that usually falls back to a relaxed smooth pace with some solos laced in. Can’t get enough, ready for love, don’t let me down, bad co.
Great hard rock album, but it doesn't do too much special. Favorite tracks are Can't Get Enough and Movin' On
Great band, but wrong album again. Straightshooter is easily their best album. But the title track is magnificent and Paul Rodgers has the best voice in rock - one of the few men in history (and almost certainly the only white man) who really belongs in leather trousers.
Неплохо. Очень неплохо.
