British rock akin to Simple Minds; I enjoyed it, but it was a little one-dimensional.

Mellow 90s fem rock - reminds me of a mix between the Carpenters and Liz Phair for the slightly more upbeat songs.

Quintessential GNR album - starts off strong with Welcome to the Jungle, includes Paradise City and Sweet Child O' Mine - classic hits.

Nick Drake
5/5
Very chill, I like it. Reminds me of Jason Mraz (but less poppy), Bowie (Nature Boy), Moody Blues (Nights in White Satin chorus, but not as dark/deep)
A Tribe Called Quest
5/5
Great mellow vibes, old school hip hop with some R&B
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
The Clash
4/5
My husband loves this album, but it's just okay for me. Definitely a solid album, but it's just not my favorite music.
Elvis Presley
4/5
As far as Elvis goes, it was pretty solid! Elvis is just not my favorite in general.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
Pretty solid Neil Young, although not as good as Harvest Moon
David Bowie
1/5
A little too electronic and esoteric for me, I did not enjoy it

Awesome all the way through
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

A little screamy but overall very enjoyable

Marvin Gaye
5/5
Mellow, really solid

5/5
This may be my new favorite jazz album!
The War On Drugs
3/5
Interesting...mostly non-lyrical...everything kind of sounded the same to me. It was ok.
Charles Mingus
2/5
A bit of cacophony, a little too much happening for me
Dead Kennedys
4/5
Some of the songs were a little too chaotic to be enjoyable, like Chemical Warfare (which is probably the point of that song), but overall I liked it! Solid punk rock. Gave me sort of a Dropkick Murphys vibe minus the Irish.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
3/5
Not really my style (Pakistani) but seems really good for this style!
Radiohead
3/5
This was quite a mix of sounds and genres. I'm not really sure what to think about it. I didn't love or hate it; I think I was mostly confused by it.
Blur
4/5
I like some of their other songs better, but this was still enjoyable
Fun Lovin' Criminals
5/5
Surprisingly mellow! Kinda bluesy.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
5/5
Who doesn't love Ladysmith Black Mambazo?
Ministry
1/5
A little screamy and weird for me. I especially did not like the song Psalm 69 with the talking voices inserted in the music. I could not get through the last few songs.

5/5
Really solid, great guitar
The Jam
4/5
Not particularly memorable, but enjoyable
Van Morrison

The Fall
5/5
Good beat, punk rock that's not too angry, I like it!
Deee-Lite
2/5
A little weird, like spacey Devo - not really my style, but bad for what it is. "Groove is in the Heart" is a fun and recognizable song.
Isaac Hayes
5/5
Smooth with a good beat, enjoyed!
808 State
3/5
Electronic dance/rave music without many lyrics - not really my vibe but very solid for what it is. I had to get past Donkey Doctor though, the electronic "bray" sound every once in a while (I'm guessing?) was really annoying.
The Avalanches
2/5
Too chaotic for me
Beach House
4/5
Smooth jams, I like it!
Pink Floyd
5/5
This album is fire!
John Coltrane
3/5
I usually enjoy Coltrane but some of the songs were a little too screechy for me
Giant Sand
3/5
I do not know what this genre is, but the singing is almost spoken. I like the music, but not so much the "singing". Very interesting that they are from Tucson!
Brian Wilson
5/5
Very enjoyable, upbeat, Beach Boys sound
Love
5/5

Started off a little weird with the Shogun narrative but the rest of the album is fire
Def Leppard
5/5
This is the album with Pour Some Sugar on Me. Overall great rock with some slow jams.
Miles Davis
5/5
This is quite possibly my favorite jazz album
Rush
4/5
The first song is so long, but it all flows well. While Rush is a little hit or miss for me, I enjoyed most of the songs on this album.
4/5
Solid 70s rock - I probably wouldn't buy the album but would listen to it again
Hüsker Dü
5/5
Reminds me of a combination of Green Day and BNL - fun punk rock!
Green Day
5/5
Who doesn't love this album
Parliament
3/5
Chill funk, not really my style but has a good rhythm! Was a little one dimensional though - all of the songs mostly sounded the same.
5/5
Mellow, quite lovely musically - very different from the Blur I'm used to (i.e., Song 2, which is a real headbanger)
CHVRCHES
5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed this album - good variety, great beats!
Public Enemy
5/5
NSFW but great beats speaking the truth! Solid rap.
Cyndi Lauper
5/5
This one has some of her best known work - Time after time, girls just want to have fun, all through the night - definitely a lot of bops (including She bop!). Very upbeat and fun.
4/5
Only 6 songs, largely instrumental, but really great rhythms. Includes Cisco Kid. Good background listening music.
The Sugarcubes
3/5
A lot of of it is solid alt rock, but some tracks are a little too yell-y for me.
Os Mutantes
4/5
Very unique sound (Brazilian Psych) - a little chaotic at times, but largely enjoyable!
The Undertones
5/5
Super fun! Would listen to again. Great beats.
5/5
While not my #1 favorite Beatles album, definitely top 5
Duke Ellington
5/5
Excellent jazz, might be my favorite Duke album so far
Robert Wyatt
1/5
A little too chaotic and esoteric for me; not a fan. I could barely get through it.
The Modern Lovers
4/5
The singing is more talking but it has a great beat, almost reminds me of a mellower version of Cake.
The White Stripes
5/5
Seven nation army is one of my fav White Stripes songs - 1st song on the album. Such a great start to a great album.
Steely Dan
5/5
Smooth rhythms, mellow, great Steely Dan - probably their best album
Ray Charles
5/5
Very big band style with smooth and sultry singing - love it!
Basement Jaxx
4/5
Great beats, electronic music, I enjoyed it!
Baaba Maal
5/5
This was my first exposure to music from Senegal. There is a wide range of musical styles within this album, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them - very moving and beautiful.
The Rolling Stones
5/5
Includes classics like Brown Sugar and Wild Horses - super solid all around
James Brown
4/5
The constant screams of adoring fans are pretty annoying, but the performance is outstanding.
The Velvet Underground
4/5
The screeching in the song Heroin is awful, but I'm sure intentional. Same with the high pitch shrieks in European Son. The rest of the songs are great!
Morrissey
5/5
Super mellow, I liked every song - great vibes.
Scritti Politti
4/5
Unique sound, very enjoyable - nice background music but has a driving beat that gives you a bit of energy.
R.E.M.
4/5
Much mellower REM than I am used to, but still solid! Not memorable but still enjoyable.
Blondie
5/5
Has classics like One Way or Another and Heart of Glass. Quite a diversity of songs, all very enjoyable.
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
4/5
The sound of oldies I listened to growing up are captured by this album - fairly one-dimensional sound, but has that familiar bop of the 1950s!
Astrud Gilberto
4/5
Great mellow vibes that you can sway to; I wouldn't say I get a beach vibe but has that underlying samba beat
Supergrass
4/5
Solid rock - nothing that stands out positive or negative, but still enjoyable to listen to
Eagles
5/5
Great variety, every song is super solid, powerful lyrics
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
A great mix of funk and soul, some just instrumental, some with lyrics - Everyday People is a classic
The Smiths
4/5
Solid 80s English rock. Talented instrumentals. Highly enjoyed.
Grant Lee Buffalo
4/5
Every song was great! Nothing really stood out about this artist but I did enjoy it - mellow, great guitar.
Depeche Mode
2/5
Pretty boring - songs are rather redundant within themselves, very similar sound across all songs, lacks depth and variety. "I want you now" is super creepy. "Little 15" was the only interesting song.
FKA twigs
4/5
Very unique sound. High swooping tones, but not a lot of variety amongst the songs. I enjoyed it!
Fleetwood Mac
4/5
Not as strong as Rumors but definitely solid. Mostly the same type of song (not much variety), very mellow.
Marvin Gaye
3/5
Definitely some sexy smooth jazz! A lot of the songs feel very similar (not a lot of variety)
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
"Don't fall down" was weird, but the others were okay - akin to chill 70s rock, with just a few psychedelic tweaks
SAULT
3/5
Very simple music but powerful messages.
Spiritualized
1/5
I think some of the songs would have been okay if there wasn't a constant humming/thrumming background sound in most songs. Some songs were swirly space sounds. Definitely not my style.
Joy Division
3/5
Reminds me of a mix of the Doors and Velvet Underground. Some of the songs drone on a bit, but most were solid.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
More mellow Stones than I'm used to, but still very enjoyable!
Korn
5/5
I love this album - includes Freak on a Leash. Great metal, unique sound, solid lyrics. Earache My Eye is a little much, but I loved the rest.
The Louvin Brothers
2/5
A typical twangy 1950s male duo; not bad for what it is, a lot of the songs sound the same, as was typical for the time. Several religious songs, not my style.
Dr. Octagon
1/5
Super weird. First song was porn. Some of the songs are just repeating the title of the song or a one-sentence phrase over a repetitive beat. I like a few of the songs but I would never buy this album.
Tears For Fears
4/5
Everybody wants to rule the world - iconic song. Album started off a little slow but I was definitely bopping my head by the end of it.
Coldplay
4/5
Classic Coldplay - super chill. I liked all the songs, but they do all tend to sound similar.
Scott Walker
1/5
Very William Shatner vibes, not my style
Sister Sledge
4/5
Fun mix of R&B and soul
Raekwon
3/5
NSFW, solid rap
Prince
3/5
Not my favorite Prince album, but still fun and funky
5/5
Amazing album, I loved every song
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
1/5
"Next" is super weird, and "Gang bang" is just them singing those words over and over again - I did not enjoy this album.
AC/DC
5/5
Awesome album, great sound balance and guitar, super solid
Carole King
5/5
I love this album - great variety, solid beats and lyrics

4/5

Mix of mellow and soaring trumpet lines, mixed with some funky beats - highly enjoyable! Largely instrumental.

4/5
Great album! I especially liked the faster songs like the classic Good Times, great beats.
DJ Shadow
3/5
Instrumental, smooth hip-hop, pretty enjoyable - got my head slow bopping
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
Great album - includes classics like Foxey Lady and Purple Haze. Amazing guitar, lyrics, and beats throughout.
Travis
5/5
I've never heard of this band, and they are great! Awesome Scottish rock. I would totally buy this album.
Kate Bush
2/5
"Waking the witch" was horrible, the other songs were pretty good. Kate Bush is not really my style (80s fem pop), but it was mostly enjoyable. There were some weird moments where the lyrics were intentionally accelerated like it was on fast forward and became gibberish; I don't understand the appeal of that choice.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
Solid Neil Young. More rock heavy than some other albums of his, which is great. Awesome guitar.
Sam Cooke
3/5
I'm not a big fan of live albums because I think the audience engagement detracts from the music and the performance. That being said, Sam Cooke gave a great performance on this album with classics like Chain Gang, Twistin', Cupid, and Having a Party. His voice was a bit more gravely in this one than usual but it also might be sound quality. Still, an excellent and commanding performance.
Michael Jackson
4/5
Great album - nice mix of fast paced and slow jams.
The Smashing Pumpkins
5/5
Super solid - pretty mellow. Includes classics like Today. Beautiful lyrics, great instrumentation.
The Byrds
4/5
A slightly more psychedelic album by the Byrds - great for that genre! Includes the classic Mr. Spaceman - very representative of the album.
Bob Dylan
5/5
The best Bob Dylan album. Intelligible, great lyrics, diversity of music.
Radiohead
5/5
Great mix of songs, all super solid. Unique and impactful lyrics.
Talking Heads
3/5
Funky electronic beats - not my favorite Talking Heads work
Massive Attack
3/5
Very mellow jams - all of the songs sound kind of the same though, so it's a little boring.
D'Angelo
3/5
Smooth jams, all kind of sound the same so that's a little boring, but they got my head slow bopping.
R.E.M.
5/5
I loved this album - great songs, lyrics, and variety. I would absolutely buy.
George Harrison
5/5
My Sweet Lord is such a great song. I enjoyed this mellow album.
Nine Inch Nails
4/5
Includes the infamous Hurt. Overall a pretty mellow album for NIN, I enjoyed it though.
Aimee Mann
3/5
Mellow 90s fem rock - reminds me of a mix between the Carpenters and Liz Phair for the slightly more upbeat songs.
Sleater-Kinney
2/5
Pop rock, with warbly vocals, reminds me of B-52s rock lobster - which is ok in small doses, but is a bit much for an entire album
Pet Shop Boys
2/5
Classic 80s, much like the Human League, but more mellow. It was fine. Much like the guy on the cover, I was yawning through most of it.
Kanye West
4/5
Lots of hits on this album. Still not exactly my taste, but pretty solid.
The Velvet Underground
2/5
I was on board with the this album until the last song, the Murder Mystery, which is very jarring and odd. Overall, a very mellow album.
Finley Quaye
3/5
Chill reggae - not my favorite music genre but is still solid!
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
1/5
I don't feel like this guy is a talented singer at all. He's mostly "talky" like Shatner (although not to this extreme), and when he sings he's often flat. Some of the songs were okay, but overall I was not a fan.
Iron Maiden
5/5
Awesome metal - thoroughly enjoyed
Radiohead
4/5
This is a great album. Smooth with a driving beat.
Siouxsie And The Banshees
4/5
Awesome female 80s punk rock. Voodoo Dolly was a little too weird for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the rest!
New Order
4/5
Fun 80s English rock - nothing super memorable but I enjoyed all of it
Traffic
4/5
Awesome 60s rock, featuring Feelin' Alright
The B-52's
3/5
It's the B-52s, so this album is exactly what you expect - a little wacky, sometimes a little 80s screamy, but still overall fun! Featuring Rock Lobster, a classic.
Willie Nelson
3/5
Very old west / country / twangy, which is not my style, but is great for this genre and time period.
The Strokes
5/5
Amazing album - 10/10 love it
John Lee Hooker
5/5
I love the collaborations on this album. Great guitar skills. 10/10
The Doors
4/5
Super solid, starting strong with Roadhouse Blues
Screaming Trees
4/5
90s mellow grunge - very enjoyable, although nothing particularly stood out
Moby
2/5
Mostly esoteric music, which is not my style...some of it was creative, some was repetitive.
Van Halen
5/5
One hit after another on this album - epic. Love the vibe, guitar solos, and awesome rock music.
Guided By Voices
3/5
Smooth, mellow, nothing stood out but was enjoyable
Suicide
1/5
Some of the songs were okay - metal rock - but most of them had too much talk-singing for me. The Frankie song was way too screamy.
Milton Nascimento
3/5
Brazilian music - fairly simplistic tunes, lovely singing tonality
Lorde
5/5
Powerful lyrics, mix of bops and soulful tunes, love this album!
Pink Floyd
5/5
Iconic - might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's killer
The Divine Comedy
2/5
A little slow and droll for me, with a hint of Shatner vibes (without the talk-singing, much more musical than that). It's okay.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2/5
Not as bad as Henry's Dream, but I still don't think he's a good singer. Most of the songs were okay.
Robbie Williams
3/5
Pleasant, relatively mellow, nothing stood out but was enjoyable
Arcade Fire
4/5
Unique sound, with a hint of the Smiths but more modern sounding - great lyrics, mellow, fun to listen to
Nick Drake
4/5
Reminds me of Jack Johnson, mellow, talented!
Dagmar Krause
2/5
The singer is very talented with precise vocals and great instrumentation backup, so I have to give it cred - it's just a weird album because it's (intentionally) like 1920s Berlin. So, picture that and you'll get a good sense of what this album is like.
Talking Heads
3/5
I enjoyed this album - includes the classic song Once in a Lifetime. Nothing stood out but it was fun.
Willie Nelson
3/5
A very lullaby-like album comprised of mostly covers, which Willie does well.
Nirvana
5/5
This album slaps - full of bangers from start to finish. Great lyrics and beats, nice variety, all grunge. Love it. You might as well just call this Nirvana's greatest hits, because all of the songs are amazing.
Stan Getz
5/5
Lovely, sultry and smooth - I thoroughly enjoyed this album.
Merle Haggard
3/5
Typical old school country twang- good for what it is but not really my style
The Afghan Whigs
4/5
Great 90s alt grunge rock
Girls Against Boys
3/5
Decent 90s grunge. Some songs are a little repetitive within themselves; not a lot of variety in sound or substance
Coldplay
5/5
Includes the classics The Scientist, Clocks, and In My Place; very mellow even by Coldplay standards, but thoroughly enjoyable
Miles Davis
5/5
Beautiful - much more flowing and piano-driven than some of his other work.
The Style Council
4/5
An interesting mix of jazzy blues and old school punk - weird combo but I liked it!
Supergrass
4/5
Solid 90s English rock, nice variety
Beatles
5/5
Old school Beatles, including All My Loving and other similar classics. Not my #1 favorite album but really solid and enjoyable.
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
Smooth funk, meaningful music, not a lot of variety but solid
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3/5
Has the iconic "American Girl", but the rest of the songs were not particularly exciting.
Nitin Sawhney
4/5
Very cool and unique multicultural and beautiful music with a mix of flamenco, hip-hop, African, Indian, languages/singers
Meat Puppets
3/5
Mellow rock, nice variety of styles across songs. Nothing particularly stood out but I enjoyed it.
Living Colour
3/5
Fun 80s pop/rock with the classic "Cult of Personality" - highly enjoyable
Santana
4/5
Beautiful instrumentals, great variety - includes the infamous "Black magic woman"
Ray Charles
3/5
I would not call most of this country or western, which made it more enjoyable than I expected from the title. Love the jazz swing style of the songs.
Kanye West
4/5
Kanye may be crazy, but is music is original and powerful - I very much enjoyed this album. Just NSFW!
Ryan Adams
3/5
Very Bob Dylan-esque, without the indecipherability of Dylan. All songs very mellow, but enjoyable.
Bruce Springsteen
1/5
The songs kind of droned on and were redundant in sound and verbiage - boring. I could not wait for this album to be over.
Beck
4/5
Super mellow, easy listening
Solomon Burke
3/5
Classic 1960s soul, including "Cry to me" (made famous on Dirty Dancing soundtrack) - was generally enjoyable although not much variety in the songs
The La's
3/5
I of course loved their classic "there she goes"; the rest was pretty typical early 90s rock, enjoyable but not particularly memorable
Various Artists
2/5
50s/60s bands singing Christmas songs - they all had something unique about them, but they were not my favorite style
Joe Ely
2/5
1970s honky tonk with a Texas focus - not my style at all, but I guess it's okay if you like the genre (a la boot-scootin' boogie)
Dusty Springfield
3/5
Contains several covers, which are not done as well as the original artists. She does have a great voice, rich and gravely. Includes the classics "Wishin' and Hopin'" and "I only want to be with you", which are great and really play to Dusty's voice and style.
Michael Kiwanuka
4/5
I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but wow, I was pleasantly surprised! Powerful lyrics, mellow jams, I liked it all the way through.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
This must be their best album - full of classic hits from this duo. Mellow, not super dynamic but perfectly encapsulates their style.
Lightning Bolt
1/5
Just a bunch of screamy, screechy noises - absolutely horrible. I had to skip some songs they were so bad. There were a few songs that were more drum-heavy that were slightly better, but I would prefer to never listen to this album again.
Prince
4/5
A fairly mellow Prince album - gotta love Darling Nikki and When Doves Cry.
Crowded House
4/5
I've never heard of this group before, but they are great! I enjoyed the album. Mellow 90s alt rock, nice variety even though all of the songs are mellow.
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
Really solid, NSFW but enjoyed the beats and lyrics.
Sade
3/5
Smooth beats, the vibe reminds me of a female (but more/better singing) Santana. Includes the iconic Smooth Operator.
Prince
4/5
Includes the iconic 1999 and Little Red Corvette. More upbeat/poppy than Purple Rain. Some of the screamy songs are not my favorite (2).
3/5
Old country twang is very much not my style, but I have to acknowledge that Loretta Lynn was very talented - and for the style, this album has great variety (upbeat and slow).
Sigur Rós
2/5
Icelandic mellow rock. Svefn-g-englar was painfully redundant with just the lyrics that sound like "it's you" over and over again. Very dreamy and mellow. It was okay.
Marty Robbins
4/5
Great singer - kind of an Elvis vibe. Even though it's old and not really my style, I definitely appreciate the musicality.
Sex Pistols
4/5
Great punk rock, fun to listen to, gets your head banging a bit but not too aggressively
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
1/5
I don't know why there are so many Nick Cave albums in 1001 generator - they are all so bad. He is a terrible singer, no musicality - reminds me of Shatner.
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
3/5
British rock akin to Simple Minds; I enjoyed it, but it was a little one-dimensional.
Motörhead
3/5
Very enjoyable heavy metal rock; the songs all sounded very similar though
David Bowie
3/5
Not my favorite Bowie album but not bad - not as esoteric as some, not as full of bops as others. Great lyrics, but sound-wise a little one dimensional.
David Bowie
3/5
A non-traditional sound for Bowie - very bass-driven with synth beats. It was enjoyable but did not stand out.
4/5
This album pulses with excitement and is engaging from start to finish -highly recommend! Great musicality, unique, and fun.
Bob Dylan
3/5
Includes the classics Blowin in the Wind and Don't Think Twice, It's All Right. Very classic Dylan, but still while he was intelligible. I've never quite understood the allure of Dylan's speak-sing style, but the lyrics are powerful and harmonica is on point.
Randy Newman
2/5
His piano skills are excellent, but his voice/singing style drives me nuts (in a bad way). Some songs are ridiculous, some have very poignant lyrics.
The Smiths
4/5
Incredible lyrics and musicality - nice mix of tempos - great album
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
5/5
Includes the fantastic "Heads Will Roll". A very energetic and fun album.
4/5
Great samba music, interesting mix of musical styles (piano, tech, percussion, etc.)
Morrissey
4/5
Mellow, smooth, enjoyable!
Elliott Smith
4/5
Mellow but with a driving beat that was very enjoyable to listen to. Highly recommend!
CHIC
3/5
Nice variety of music; contains the infamous "le freak". Was not a fan of the first song. I especially like their use of violin, very unique. Many of the songs definitely got me swaying or bopping, but lyrics were often very redundant, which I am not a fan of.
Beatles
5/5
Awesome variety of songs, including the classics Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine, and Got To Get You Into My Life. This album is full of powerful lyrics, harmonies, and instrumentals. It may be the best album created by the Beatles!
Happy Mondays
2/5
80s English rock - a little flat with vocals being more of a forced shout than actually singing. It was okay.
Aerosmith
3/5
While not my favorite Aerosmith album, it's still pretty solid. It's a little plain compared to their other works. Includes the classic "back in the saddle."
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
2/5
Very weird. Some songs sounds more like lovely classical music, but many had screechy, jarring components that were not enjoyable.
Boston
5/5
This has to be Boston's best album - just one banger right after the other, starting off strong with More Than a Feeling. Every song is enjoyable, and there is variety across the songs.
Soundgarden
5/5
Has the infamous "Black hole sun" - a whole album of bangers. Powerful lyrics, awesome drums and guitar, solid all the way through.
Depeche Mode
3/5
A classic 80s band. While they have great lyrics, I feel like their sound is a little one dimensional (droopy).
Amy Winehouse
5/5
Such a strong album all the way through - great lyrics, powerful voice, unique sound. Love it.
Weather Report
4/5
This was a very enjoyable smooth jazz album with a significant up tempo. One exception is "Rumba mamba", which came out of left field and I did not enjoy it.
ZZ Top
3/5
Solid beats all the way through, includes the infamous La Grange. Classic ZZ Top sound.
Beastie Boys
3/5
Not my favorite Beastie Boys album, but still solid.
Hole
2/5
Hole (Courtney Love) is a little too screamy for my taste. There are some softer moments that make it more powerful.
Bob Dylan
4/5
This might be one of my favorite Dylan albums - more upbeat tempo than some of the others I've listened to, still with that iconic Dylan voice but more understandable than some other albums also.
White Denim
3/5
There were some slightly chaotic flute moments but overall this was very enjoyable, largely instrumental.
Beatles
4/5
I think this lands squarely in the top 5 Beatles albums, but it's no Hey Jude. Definitely great with a lot of variety, including Blackbird, one of my favorites. I absolutely detest the final cacophonic track (Revolution 9 - dang it Yoko Ono, ugh), which knocks this album squarely out of the top 3 list.
T. Rex
4/5
Includes the classic Bang a Gong; the whole album is solid
The Zombies
5/5
Includes This Will Be Our Year and Time of the Season, probably their best songs. This whole album has feel good vibes - a gentle sway. Very much enjoyed.
The Replacements
3/5
Fun 80s rock, pretty mellow, nothing stands out, the songs all sounded fairly similar, but it was enjoyable.
Hanoi Rocks
2/5
80s glam rock. It's okay. Lyrics are sometimes powerful and sometimes kind of random.
Joan Armatrading
5/5
Beautiful, deep, rich voice, with simple but powerful guitar and lyrics - I loved this album!
U2
4/5
Such a powerful album. Starting off strong with Sunday Bloody Sunday, this album is solid from start to finish.
Otis Redding
5/5
Fun and upbeat, with the iconic Respect and Satisfaction - great instrumentals, amazing album
Isaac Hayes
4/5
This is a fun, punchy album, always with a driving beat and interesting instrumentals.
Kate Bush
1/5
All the songs sounded the same - high pitched and a little warbly, very 80s. I'm not personally a fan.
Alanis Morissette
5/5
Gotta love this iconic album from Alanis - powerful lyrics and vocals, easy to jam to.
Frank Ocean
4/5
Powerful vocals - Frank Ocean has range! Meaningful lyrics, too. Cool incorporation of other sounds into the music. I enjoyed this album.
Orange Juice
3/5
A very interesting mix of music. Album started out reminding me of a mellower/80s version of OK GO with more unique sounds/instrumentals, then it had some African rhythms...not sure what to make of it. Most of it was typical 80s jams. It was all perfectly pleasant.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
3/5
Most of it was lovely and largely instrumental, but the Old Castle was a little too screechy and electronic for me, and ended very abruptly; I did not like that song. The rest was fun.
Arcade Fire
3/5
It was enjoyable but all of the songs sounded the same - I was expecting more from Arcade Fire.
Linkin Park
5/5
Iconic memories of youth - full of powerful, angsty lyrics - great alt metal rock. Every song is a banger. Love it.
ABBA
4/5
Includes the classics Dancing Queen and Fernando. While I'm not the biggest ABBA fan, this is a solid album - a nice mix of music that is all up tempo.
Moby Grape
4/5
A fun, punchy album of 60s rock, not unlike the Beatles.
Gang Starr
3/5
I like the beats and lyrics overall, but the wailing/screamy fake sounds in the background are really annoying in several songs.
The Flying Burrito Brothers
2/5
Old school hippie and twangy - rather boring
Guns N' Roses
5/5
Quintessential GNR album - starts off strong with Welcome to the Jungle, includes Paradise City and Sweet Child O' Mine - classic hits.
Aretha Franklin
5/5
Such powerful soul music - well-known songs include Chain of Fools and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. A variety of rich and dark songs mixed with faster and lighter melodies - all with Aretha's powerful voice. Wonderful album.
Björk
2/5
Bjork is esoteric...I don't get her or her music style. It's all over the place. It is often light and delicate, almost mousy, often including unique instruments like chimes. Sometimes she'll demonstrate some powerful vocals. But none of it makes sense to me. It got rather annoying after a while.
Megadeth
5/5
Awesome metallic rock with sick guitar licks. I loved it and jammed all the way through.
Hugh Masekela
5/5
Fun jazz album with a hint of funk, great brass - I would definitely buy this album.
Tracy Chapman
5/5
Amazing album! Powerful lyrics, easy listening, nice variety of melodies.
Metallica
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy this metal album, every song is fire. The songs all do sound kind of similar though, a bit one-dimensional in that way.
Christina Aguilera
4/5
I'm not a huge fan of the talking at the beginning of each song, but the songs are otherwise solid - great harmonies and variety. Some songs are much better than others (Fighter, Can't hold us down, Beautiful, Dirrty, The voice within). Songs like "Loving me 4 me" drag on and don't seem to go anywhere.
The Cars
4/5
Love this album - full of great hits all the way through
Pixies
1/5
Tame is way too screamy throughout. Most of the songs had a bit of this, as well as redundancy and more sing-talking (not strong singing) - I did not enjoy this album overall.
The Smiths
3/5
Pretty standard Smiths album - enjoyable, consistent, but nothing stands out
Frank Zappa
3/5
Fun guitar rock, no lyrics
The White Stripes
5/5
Includes "we're going to be friends", one of my favorite songs. Great variety of melodies, solid album all the way through.
The Cardigans
3/5
Mellow, great drums and vocals - enjoyable but nothing stands out.
The Go-Betweens
2/5
This album was okay. A little bland, with some weak male vocals. It was decent background music but not an album I would choose to listen to again.
Oasis
3/5
Great electric guitar, I'm mixed on the vocals. Live Forever is awesome. Overall, it's no (What's the Story) Morning Glory, but it's a solid album.
Yes
3/5
Fun 70s British rock, a little one-dimensional even though their sound is unique. Includes the iconic "I've seen all good people".
Talking Heads
3/5
This album was mediocre. I didn't enjoy some of the songs, especially The Book I Read. I feel like the musicality is weak (poor singing, basic structures). Does include the iconic "Psycho killer".
Public Enemy
3/5
Powerful commentary on the state of society and how the Black community is treated. Not my favorite album musically, but an important listen.
The Beta Band
3/5
Mellow rock, enjoyable but nothing stood out
4/5
Bowie is not my favorite but this is a great album

Lupe Fiasco

Steady simple beat throughout all songs, some powerful lyrics - it was pretty good.

Grateful Dead
3/5
Pretty mellow, easy listening, nothing stood out
The Cure
3/5
Solid driving rock tempo with a dark tone; overall relatively mellow.
Neil Young
5/5
Really great, poignant album, enjoyable all the way through.
Cocteau Twins
1/5
Real whiny sounding, just high and shrill - not my favorite.
Iron Maiden
5/5
Includes the incredible Run to the Hills, one of my favorites - a solid album of bangers all the way through
Solange
4/5
Meaningful and powerful verbal interludes with background music. The music itself is beautiful, mellow, dreamy. What a great album.
Harry Nilsson
5/5
Starts strong with "Gotta Get Up" - love that song. I had no idea "Without You" was by this artist, so beautiful and powerful! Then he spins to a totally different direction with "Coconut" and "Let the Good Times Roll" - iconic - a whole album of amazing songs.
Elton John
4/5
One of his best albums for sure. Amazing piano with some fun and some powerful lyrics.
Ash
4/5
Lots of guitar shredding, overall fun and enjoyable alt rock
Ice Cube
4/5
Includes the iconic songs "it was a good day" and "check yo self". Definitely NSFW. Powerful lyrics/stories.
Billy Joel
4/5
It's a tough call which is a better album, this or Piano Man. This is an iconic Billy Joel album full of hits, painting East coast stories with a variety of melodies.
Talking Heads
2/5
Some of the songs were kind of whiny. I liked Life During Wartime.
The Pogues
5/5
The title track and Fairytale of New York are iconic - I never realized these songs were from this band. This was a thoroughly enjoyable Irish album with great instrumentals. Very much like the Dubliners, and in fact one song features them.
Blue Cheer
3/5
70s Hendrix-like vibes, was enjoyable but nothing stood out
The Band
4/5
This was a very fun album, with the iconic The Weight. A little one dimensional but still bouncy and fun.
Electric Light Orchestra
4/5
Beautiful instrumentals, mellow lyrics. Includes the infamous "Turn to Stone" and "Sweet Talkin' Woman." Very enjoyable all the way through.
Metallica
5/5
Awesome metal rock. I love the title song, especially.
AC/DC
5/5
This album slaps - an entire album of back-to-back hits
Tom Tom Club
1/5
This was the weirdest album. Lots of strange sounds, very annoying to listen to. I absolutely hated it.
Van Morrison
3/5
I don't usually like live albums, but this was a decent sound quality and not too much audience interference. It's basically a greatest hits album - very long. I like Van Morrison in smaller doses; his songs are too similar in a lot of ways, so an album this long droned on.
Sheryl Crow
3/5
Has the iconic Strong Enough and All I Wanna Do. Overall very mellow. A few songs where her voice was really grating.
The Doors
4/5
Dark, rich sounds with a mix of up tempo and slow - an overall enjoyable album
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
This might be their silliest album - Ramble Tamble, Ooby Dooby - it was fun, but I can't say the lyrics are very powerful.
Dr. John
3/5
It was unique...I'm not sure if I liked it or not.
Lou Reed
1/5
I really dislike Lou Reed's sing/talk style; this was not enjoyable. "The Kids" was particularly horrific, I couldn't even get through it. Several of the songs were very depressing.
The Allman Brothers Band
3/5
I'm not usually a fan of live albums, but this was good - lots of guitar licks, almost entirely instrumental - very enjoyable background music.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
5/5
Awesome album. Solid bops all the way through.
Elvis Presley
3/5
A mix of very up tempo songs (such as the iconic Blue Suede Shoes) with slower ballads (such as the iconic Blue Moon) - all well-performed, although the sound recording quality varies. Includes a mix of covers and originals. This album was therefore not very cohesive, which makes sense since the record company threw together songs trying to capitalize on Elvis' rapidly growing fame. It was an enjoyable album but probably not one I would buy or listen to again.
Public Enemy
3/5
Powerful messages, but not amazing music
Cream
3/5
I see why this is such a popular and expensive album - great 60s rock, some with a trippy vibe, fun to listen to
The Beach Boys
4/5
Dark and broody compared to a lot of Beach Boys - very enjoyable
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
Amazing mix of songs - not 100% great but overall a very enjoyable listen
The Stone Roses
4/5
A very interesting, fun album with a variety of driving rock beats - it's hard to equate them with another similar band or style, but it's very enjoyable, I would listen to again
The Thrills
4/5
Very enjoyable, mellow tunes - they have a very Neil Young vibe.
Bert Jansch
3/5
Amazing acoustic guitar lines and execution. Singing isn't super strong but the guitar skills make up for it!
John Cale
2/5
This is kind of weird, with barely intelligible words, but the melodies were nice.
3/5
I've read that this is the best Kinks album, but I'm not so sure. It's rather silly, with very old-timey instrumentals - it's personally not my favorite, but it's not bad.
Joni Mitchell
3/5
I don't know what it is about Joni Mitchell, but her voice grates on my nerves. Aside from that, this is a lovely album.
Rahul Dev Burman
4/5
While this is a movie soundtrack, it actually has very enjoyable music consistently throughout the album. I would listen again!
The Flaming Lips
4/5
Beautiful instrumentals and songs overall. Very enjoyable. One of the songs was a little screamy for a second but the rest were great - a mix of dreamy and fun.
The Notorious B.I.G.
3/5
Not really my style; gunshots, babies crying, sex, etc. Important narratives on the state of society but wasn't especially enjoyable to listen to. It does include some iconic and great songs like Juicy and Big Poppa, which don't seem to align well with the rest of the album - which is perhaps why they're so great.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
Mellow reggae - very chill and enjoyable. Includes the iconic "Jamming" and "One Love."
Paul Simon
3/5
Very unique, fun sound for Paul Simon. One of the songs has very screamy background vocals, but the rest are very enjoyable.
Bob Dylan
2/5
This is a very boring Dylan album to me. Kind of monotone. The lyrics tell stories, at least. A special gem is Make You Feel My Love, which I had no idea Dylan wrote.
Throbbing Gristle
1/5
What the hell is this album?! It's just a bunch of random sounds smashed together, which were not pleasant and also upset my dog. I couldn't even listen to it all the way through, it was that painful. I would give it a zero if it was an option.
Björk
3/5
Her voice is a bit annoying/grating, but the songs overall are not bad.
Franz Ferdinand
5/5
Such a great rock album! Unique sound, great beats, fun to listen to every single song.
Bill Evans Trio
5/5
Beautiful, fun, punchy jazz - this is a great album, highly recommend!
Mariah Carey
4/5
Mariah has such amazing range and runs. The songs are lovely, great choral work behind some of them. I don't think this is my favorite of Mariah's albums, but it's solid.
Incredible Bongo Band
4/5
I was not expecting this album to be so good! Highly enjoyable, brass instruments as well, very fun. Several songs are covers, the others appear to be unique, all are great.
Dr. Dre
4/5
I'm never a big fan of the talking/sketch tracks, but the music is great - powerful lyrics and solid beats.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
5/5
Great album! Very fun jazz, lots of color and movement without being chaotic or overwhelming. A little short, running only 36 minutes.
Television
4/5
All bangers, very enjoyable 70s rock
Rufus Wainwright
4/5
Beautiful vocals and instrumentals, I could listen to him all day! Some of the songs drone on a little or are a little one-dimensional, but overall very enjoyable.
Taylor Swift
4/5
Awesome, largely mellow album, full of pop hits. Simple, clean music.
Bob Dylan
4/5
I feel like this is Dylan's sweet spot - moving into rock, but still keeping a foundation in folk with unique harmonica and organ sounds. Powerful lyrics that are an indictment of societal problems and paint a visible story about the state of America. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because of Dylan can't sing - he just talks and inflects a bit. Maybe that's part of the power of the music, but I find it grating at times.
Keith Jarrett
3/5
Very nice piano, good background music, but nothing stood out as special or unique
Kendrick Lamar
3/5
Not my favorite Kendrick album, but not bad. Powerful content but not a lot of music actually, a lot more talking.
Gillian Welch
4/5
Broody and dreamy with a deep voice - kind of folksy, very beautiful

4/5

3/5
Decent 70s mellow rock but all the songs sounded the same, not very exciting
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Not the strongest Zeppelin album, but still full of solid hits
Madonna
2/5
A little too techno synth for me. Trying too hard to be club beats instead of good songs. Music and Don't Tell Me are pretty solid.
Booker T. & The MG's
5/5
Fun and funky instrumentals with some very familiar tunes and a variety of instruments used, featuring an organ - I highly enjoyed this album
Garbage
4/5
I love this grunge album - includes hits Queer, Only Happy When it Rains, and Stupid Girl.
The Residents
1/5
This album is terrible - so difficult to listen to, and I would not classify it as music. It's some flat ugly chanting with some occasional instrumentals. I'd give it 0/5 stars if I could.
The Go-Go's
4/5
Fun, upbeat, punchy 80s girl band - highly enjoyed! There were a few songs that were a bit redundant, which was common back then.

Very compelling and fun Belgian music (sung in French) - I thoroughly enjoyed!
David Bowie
3/5
A little chaotic, especially the piano - but overall enjoyable rock
Dusty Springfield
3/5

Lovely and mellow singing with guitar, a bit of a Jack Johnson vibe but without quite as much punch or upbeat tempo - it was enjoyable
David Bowie
3/5
Funky and fun but not really my style
Fela Kuti
4/5
Really enjoyable afrobeat - beautiful instrumentals (predominant) and vocals (occasional)
De La Soul
2/5
Old school hip hop - it was not enjoyable though, a lot of the songs were redundant and annoying. The "skits" in between didn't make any sense.
Beck
5/5
I loved this album from start to finish! Mellow and smooth with clean lines and great bass beats.
Culture Club
4/5
Fun 80s pop, definitely had my head bopping the whole way through!

Big Brother & The Holding Company
3/5
Joplin's voice is always powerful; very solid for a live album, although some of it was just okay.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Great rock album, includes the infamous "Ramble On" and "Whole Lotta Love", which I thoroughly enjoy
Liz Phair
3/5
A much deeper and darker version of Liz Phair than "Why Can't I?" - it didn't really stand out as anything special but it was enjoyable, mellow rock
Afrika Bambaataa
3/5
Pretty fun funky old hip hop, it had my head bopping the whole way through

Les Rythmes Digitales
3/5
Not bad techno pop - but a lot of the songs were very repetitive, which was super annoying.
Pearl Jam
4/5
Solid classic rock, not quite as good as OG Pearl Jam in my opinion but still solid.
Jack White
3/5
Interesting variety of music. It was pretty good. It felt a little scattered but was enjoyable.
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
4/5
Mostly instrumental, great guitar, fun to listen to
David Crosby
3/5
Mellow but pretty enjoyable. Nice harmonies, gives me Simon & Garfunkel vibes.
Sarah Vaughan
3/5
Very 50s jazz. Sarah has an amazing voice, a little more warbly than I like and not as dynamic as I like, but still very enjoyable to listen to. For a live album, the sound quality is excellent and the audience is not disruptive, just polite minimal clapping.
Wu-Tang Clan
4/5
Some absolutely silly lyrics but great beats that kept my head bopping the whole way through, great old school rap
Neil Young
5/5
Amazing album, mellow and beautiful the whole way through, includes my favorite song of his, "Old Man".
Tom Waits
1/5
This was very painful to listen to, I hated it. Some of the songs were just sounds with maracas and occasional guitar. The songs that were "songs" still had terrible singing.

Lynyrd Skynyrd
5/5
Loved this album - solid rock. Includes classic hits like "Gimme Three Steps," "Simple Man," and the iconic "Free Bird".
Simon & Garfunkel

This album is terrible until towards the end, it has the iconic Mrs. Robinson and A Hazy Shade of Winter, which are very enjoyable.
Traffic
3/5
It was solid and steady English rock but nothing stood out
Rage Against The Machine
3/5
Not as good as The Battle of Los Angeles. A lot of the songs are too screamy for me. Killing in the Name, Wake Up, and Renegades of Funk, and Testify are all great.
The Byrds
3/5
Starts off strong and rather suddenly with the title track. Overall, very mellow, all of the songs sound very similar.
The Beach Boys
3/5
Very unique high pitched sound with harmonies that people probably either love or hate. Starts off strong with "wouldn't it be nice" and also has "god only knows" - these are probably the punchiest songs on the album, the rest are slow and somber. So, it's not my favorite album of theirs, but not bad.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
It was fine...pretty typical orchestral jazz, nothing stood out (certainly not something "atomic").
Brian Eno
2/5
Mellow and lovely, reminds me of a spa - but also a bit repetitive. Made me sleepy.
Sonic Youth

4/5
Beautiful afro-cuban jazz, very enjoyable!

3/5
Very interesting - funky - some Surfin' Bird vibes
Arctic Monkeys
4/5
Highly enjoyable rock album. I think I like their other albums a tiny bit better, but this was still great
The Streets
1/5
British rap, I guess? It's a lot of talking off beat over rap instrumentals, it's very odd and not enjoyable.
Thelonious Monk
4/5
Always such great jazz by Thelonious - punchy without being overbearing, highly enjoyable
Don McLean
4/5
Starts off strong with the iconic title track; the rest of the songs are great, too. A very short album though.
