Great album. Nice mix of hip hop, r&b, and soul. Lauryn has a great voice and delivery. Every song is good. I could do without the skit interludes attached to end of most songs - I don’t want to hear that in a shuffle - would be nice if those were separate tracks. Favorite tracks include Ex-Factor, Doo Wop, When It Hurts So Bad, Nothing Even Matters, Everything is Everything, Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, Tell Him.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke

Motown sound. Burke has a powerful voice, and some of the songs really showcase how emotive he can be. There’s definitely some late 50’s/early 60’s garbage pop songs here too. The notables are Cry To Me, Goodbye Baby, If You Need Me, Someone To Love Me, He’ll Have To Go.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention

Truly awful. Confirms my suspicions about people who are really into original, underscore, Frank Zappa albums, not rereleases! There’s nothing on this album worth listening to. Thankfully many of the tracks are short. Even so, they overstay their welcome.

Cool album. It’s recorded as if its live in a jazz club even though it is a studio. Makes for an enjoyable straight through listen. Really captures an atmosphere. This is from his crooner period. Notables tracks include most of the non-intros for regular listening purposes.

This has all the hallmarks that I don’t like about the genre: juvenile lyrics, a childish fascination with satanic imagery, lead singer doing a bad impersonation of Ozzy. I will say that I think the band is technically proficient. It’s not as bad as Anthrax, but far worse and more unpolished than Metallica. The track Peace Sells is a good premise carried out unskillfully. Good Morning/Black Friday is probably the best song to me.
