Good but not great. Surprised by how much instrumental music is on this album.
Good. Glad I listened to it. Does Sabbath not use power chords? Was surprised by that.
Sunshine of your love. Obviously the best track. The rest has surprising variety and is very bluesy and not pretty. Definitely an enjoyable listen.
It’s not so much that I disliked most of the album in a bland, idc kinda way, but maybe that this genre of music is just so dated and aged. I’m glad I listened but I won’t be back.
I liked this album. Very eclectic, noisy and somewhat discordant. Was surprised by the horns and lengthy instrumental jams. I can tell that Phish listened to Zappa. Overall enjoyable.
One of my top five favorite albums. The sampling, layering, and psychedelic production by the Dust Brothers made this a critic favorite when released in 1989 but never found radio success. I love The Beastie Boys!
Good album. No surprises. Jangly white boy bluesy soft rock. Sultans of Swing is only standout on album.
What a phenomenal album. Had never listened before. Sometimes he reminds me of the Beatles and other times it’s straight funky like Sly or EW&F. He’s so eclectic and I love it. I’m a new fan for sure.
Excellent. Love the first track but didn’t know who sang it. Rock ‘n soul is a perfect album title. He does early rock and roll, doo wop, and early soul with a masterful touch. Will listen again!
This album is eponymous for those of us who were in high school or college during the late 90’s/early aughts. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now, but I recognize the importance of this album and band. I’m glad I revisited it but don’t need to listen ever again.
I’m meh about this album. Just not overly impressed. I’m sure they made waves when they were around but now this music is dated and boring.
I mean how can you go wrong with the classic, the inimitable SADE! This is baby making music for sure, and is great in the background. TBH though, all of her music sounds so similar. If you have heard one famous song, you will always recognize her music.
A great album. I knew the first song but didn’t know who sang it. Interesting use of classical piano and violin sounds with her banshee-like vocals.
Not bad. Glad I listened but I won’t be back. We are Family is the only memorable song.
Damn good album. Neil Young always sounds kinda the same to me. I prefer him with CSNY. This album is very country, lots of twang and some jangly.
One of my favorite albums of the early 2000’s. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Is this the soundtrack to the worst Renaissance Fair movie?
Fantastic! Amazing! Influential! Innovative! Creative! Masterful! This is something that I’ve listened to in the past but revisiting was impactful. I cannot say enough good things about this album.
Such a time capsule album. It’s not my style but she’s damn talented.
Superb. Excellent. Masterful. Memorable. One of the best hip hop albums of all time by one of the GOATs.
Not as good as Kind of Blue but how could it be? It’s also completely different. I do like it but not sure how often I will want to listen to it.
Phenomenal album. Especially when considering that Dave Grohl wrote, played, and produced the whole thing. It is at times post grunge, 90’s rock, and other times gives hints of the radio friendly songs to come from this band.
Very bluesy. Not as much southern rock as I expected. Also lots of blues jams. Can definitely tell it is a live album. Sounds like an old juke joint.
I mean this is classic. Many songs are very recognizable so I get the inclusion. Also, won’t be back. He was great for his time.
Obviously a classic album that is great for what it is. Total baby-making music here. Not for me but I recognize the talent.
