Music Has The Right To Children
Boards of CanadaScottish electronic. Chill lo-fi synths. Very atmospheric. Cool beats. I dig this. Interesting and varied. Pleasant and floaty. 80s vibes.

Struggle with this because of artist. Will give it a go. So many hits. So smooth. Hardly any skips, no wonder it took off. Incredibly coherent, defining sound. R&B is just not my favourite genre. Great album.
Very unique, enchanting sound. Beautiful harmonies. Very much of its time and iconic. A bit cloying in parts. Totally understand that this was an era-defining sound and there are some fantastic classics on here. But doesn't blow my mind.
Lots of soul, which works so well with his gorgeous voice. A good dash of country. Elvis sounds amazing. Album flows beautifully. Not that many massive hits, but so much good stuff. Beautiful album, fully believe this is one of Elivis' best. Flawless production and his voice control is fantastic.
Very strong start with Chain of fools. Unsurprisingly very soulful. Powerful. One you really want to turn up and belt in the car. Every song has incredible energy. Also deeply cool. Aretha is a force of nature. Incredible intensity. Would put this on at a party and everyone would love it.
The definition of groovy. Some interesting vocals. Feels extremely 70s. Nice chill album to have on in the background. Did not blow me away.
One of my favorite bands. Karen O has the perfect rock star voice. Two of my all time faves are on this album.
Fund and enjoyable, but quite monotone.
Very funky, very groovy. This album certainly sets the tone and creates a great atmosphere. Not my style, but I admire it.
Very raw. Goes hard. Reminds me of my teens. All around excellent. Makes you wonder where they would have ended up.
What you’d expect from a Jimmy Hendrix album, outstanding guitar work. Loads of soul and rhythm. Technical masterpiece. Very layered. Also long! Psychedelic. Absolute insanity, what kind of sounds he gets out of his guitar. obviously inspired a lot of rock. Admire this very much, but not my kind of music.
Late 60s rock. Playful, fun. Janis Joplin was lead singer before going solo. Her voice is something else. Interesting Summertime cover. Piece of My Heart just knocks me off my feet. There are absolute pearls on this, other tracks don’t really appeal to me.
Indie Rock. Lush soundscape, at times almost too much. Sounds a bit like a rockier Elbow. Feels a bit dated. Some songs feel too long. Chaotic, a lot early 2000s styles layered on top of each other. Would not seek out to listen again.
One of the best albums, one of my favourite bands. Joyful opening. Just beautiful. Playful. So many bangers. A perfect pop-rock album.
Electronic rock. Very interesting. Seems ahead of its time and influential. Sets very cool atmosphere. Creative synths. Kind of dreamy and surreal. Experimental. Insanely modern for 1977. Random moaning and screaming. Fascinating and kind of amazing. Almost a bit scary.
Reminds me of the Cure but more electronic. Interesting use of instruments. Beautifully 80s. Very atmospheric. Very early 80s, so must have inspired the decade’s sound a lot. Makes me happy. Interesting soundscapes. Varied, experimental and still cohesive. Fabulous.
Very mellow. Great harmonies. Very late 60s, very Laurel Canyon. Some great songs on here. Lovely but also a bit boring.
Brazilian singer, late 70s. Musical style I’m not at all familiar with. 70s pop with jazz influences. A style of music I just do not enjoy at all. The Brazilian influences make it a bit better.
Early 70s rock. Amazing guitars. Harmonies. Sounds like an inspiration for Queen and many bands like them. Progressive rock. Very multi-layered. Loads of synths. A really good time. Great use of an organ. Insanely long songs, but they flow well and are very enjoyable.
Australian early 200s rock. Sounds American. Garage Rock. Was compared to Nirvana. A bit noisy. A lot of older influences, especially British like the Beatles and Oasis. They’re borrowing a lot from everywhere. Enjoyable but not massively special or unique. Solid, but not memorable.
Lush soundscape. Modern rock. 70s influences. Very funky and cool. Jazz and Mowtown influences. Smooth. Elaborate. Beautifully done. Varied. Stunning 60s samples.
Welsh Altrock. Goes hard. Pretty angsty. Reminds me of US rockbands from that time. Fantastic rock album. Very ‘süffig’.
The OG of Britpop. Liam’s voice is a bit grating, but the music is great. Quintessentially British. Very cool, excellent album. Just not super exciting.
There’s nothing like R.E.M. Angsty. Beautiful. Rooted in Folk. Mellow. Simple.
The title alone is wild. Very classic hip-hop. Some of the earliest hip-hop hits. 80s samples are fun. Very straightforward. Very repetitive.
I love Sinatra so much, his voice is just stunning. Very moody and mopey. Sets a mood. Perfect album to melt into the couch to. Very samey. Snooze after the title track, sadly. Sorry Frank!
60s retro rock. Very well done. Arctic Monkeys front man. Not very interesting.
British Heavy Metal. 80s metal, much tamer than expected. Very melodic. No one uses guitars and drums better than a good metal band. Absolutely fantastic, even if not my genre.
ate 70s punk rock mixed with other styles. Iconic title track. Amazing energy. Very varied. Joyful. Poppier than expected.
Bossa Nova. Absolutely delicious. Early 60s. Beginning of Bossa Nova craze in US. Deeply cool. Immaculate vibes.
Late 60s funk. Pretty standard. Just not my thing. Some interesting instrumentals. Boring.
Pakistani Devotional Music. Love that this album is included here. Quite repetitive, obviously. Easy to listen to but nothing I would listen to again.
Early 2000s UK rock. Pleasant. A bit tongue in cheek. Also a bit blah. Nothing stands out.
Powerful female alternative rock, UK artist, great voice. Nirvana influence. Outstanding alt rock, good amount of grit.
One of the best Jazz live recordings ever, early 60s, unpredictable Jazz, quite modern but still easy to follow. Gets more chaotic. Not a style of Jazz I enjoy. The more traditional sections are delightful.
Late 60s British psychedelic rock that I like. Very cheerful and light. Fun harmonies. Came 2 years before the Beatles and sound as good. Sounds a bit like Beach Boys.
Punk and industrial from Germany. Loads of German yelling on a building site. Certainly different. Feels like performance art. Screaming in an aquarium. Would work great in haunted house. They also do awful covers. No melody, screaming over industrial instruments. No doubt influential in the early 80s, but too removed from actual music for me.
Well, it’s the Beatles. I like them but don’t find most of their work massively compelling. Pleasant and mellow.
Seattle Grunge. Pretty hard rock, punk rock, not massively melodic. Not my cup of tea, was not feeling it. Proto-Nirvana, roots obvious. But noisier and edgier. Great drummer.
One of the all time greats. Beautiful. Uses voice very creatively, like an instrument. Punk and avant-garde apparently. Some songs are quite theatrical. Very varied album, high re-listenability factor. Every song is different and interesting, twist and turns. Theatrical, surprising.
Enchanting. Very laid back. Gentle, one to dream to. Just a lovely time.
Brazilian psych rock. Love the world music on here. Melds African and Brazilian beats. Not my music in this language either, but good vibes. The afrobeats make this more interesting. Cheerful.
His debut album. Solsbury Hill. Slightly bonkers. Very varied album. Rock, circus, folk. Quite a bit of stadium rock. Did not grab me, but good album.
Incredibly rich electronic soundscape. Creative use of tones of instruments. Great beats. Jarring at times. Melancholy and very cool. But also a bit rambling.
Pure oldschool rock ’n roll. Excellently executed. Outstanding live recording. Very short, very clean. Shame he was a POS.
90s alternative rock. Certainly interesting instrumentation. Creative covers of songs I mostly don’t know. Loads of talking over guitar riffs. Kind of fun. Long album. Great beats. The talking gets kind of old.
Cute, cheery. As cliche as it gets, bit lots of fun. Excellent example of an iconic genre.
Much more chill than expected. Ozzy is surprisingly good. Surprisingly varied. Instrumentals.
Just amazing opener with Smells Like. Banger after banger. I love Nirvana.
60s folk. Protest songs. Aggressively late 60s in a way I don’t particularly enjoy. Also not fantastic singer. Most songs are bloody annoying. Dad of Jeff Buckley, son was so much better.
Lover her. Very atmospheric. Twigs debut. Lovely soundscape to relax to. Most songs great vibes but not massively memorable.
The legend. Incredibly smooth rock with latin influences. Stunning guitar, of course. Excellent rock album.
Blast from my teenage years. Classic 90s rap. Lauryn Hill is amazing. I have definitely heard this album at school, takes me back. Some absolute bangers.
Loopy instrumental rock. Phil Collins on drums. Soundscapes with electronic elements. Mostly pleasant.
80s Post-punk, new wave, art rock. Certainly creative. He found his sound. The more straightforward songs are great, but some are a bit too weird.
Album made U2 superstars. The first 3 hits are awesome, the rest is very good pop rock, but not really bangers.
Very fun rock.
Talking heads is always an interesting time. Great beats. Lovely album. Loads of surprising elements.
Rap. Groovy, soulful. Lovely voice and flow. Melodic, soulful samples. Very easy to listen to. Like hip-hop more than I thought.
Bluesy rock ’n roll. Abit boring. Like Morrison’s voice.
80s rock. Really decent, what you expect. Good melodies.
Very playful electronic pop. Enjoyable, but most songs are quite mid.
Experiments with African beats and scattered vocals. Very cohesive sound scape, not single outstanding songs.
70s rock. Very straightforward rock, if you want to put on some nice US rock. Really enjoy the vibes. Road trip music. Quite a few hits.
Completely forgot she used to be a rapper. Decent 80s rap, bit repetitive. Ultimately quite monotone.
Opens with a lush scope and very distinctive style. Inspired Coldplay and many others. Beautiful songs. Tom Yorks voice is lovely. Floaty rock. Filled to the brim with good stuff.
Piano album. Beautiful opener. Somber mood, but lovely. Melancholy. Immaculate vibes to lie around and stare into distance.
The album is one of the earliest and most influential of the progressive rock genre. 1969. Distorted vocals, great guitars and drums. Almost sounds like Jazz, super lively. DNA of a lot of later bands and music. Very abstract at times, then back to very traditional prog rock. Ambitious album.
9th Beatles album. Mid 60s. Clearly more on form and experienced than Hard Days Night. 30 tracks! Very varied. Lots of hits but also lots of silly songs. Some beautiful folk songs, some ggod rock. Ends with insane 8 minute cacophony and a kitschybmovie musical track. A bit all over the place, but some gorgeous songs.
The Boss just hits. His defining album. Great rock, with Bluesy vibes. Very linear and maybe not interesting enough.
2000s US alt-rock. Pretty heavy, edgy and dirty. Noisy and aggressive. Hardly melodic. No rhythm. Didn’t finish.
60s rock, rock ’n roll. Do you love me. Very classic. Roll over Beethoven. Garage rock, very hard for the time. Much less polished than contemporaries. That’s kind of cool. Recorded cheaply on purpose so sound has a lot more grit. Punk long before punk according to White Stripes. Classics but a bit dirtier and sexier.
Absolutely epic rock. Queen’s hardest rock album. Bonkers at times. Theatrical.
His delivery is interesting, almost a bit jaded and spoken, very cool effect. Perfect Day. Take a walk on the wild side. Produced by Bowie, which you can hear. Glam rock. Reed was in Velvet Underground. A bit silly and playful at times. Really like the 'who gives a fuck' attitude.
70s UK rock. Live album. Opens with ominous wall of sound. Straight into hard driving guitars and drums. Long, fairly traditional rock songs. Well presented but pretty standard. Not objectonable but not very original either.
Love the album art. Twinkly piano, harmonies. Chill and happy. 70s pop. Some songs sound like Peter Gabriel. Some really interesting songs. Very vibey. Very chill California. I want to put this on in Malibu, sitting on a terrasse, watching the sunset over the Pacific, nice drink in hand. A Beach Boy and I prefer this solo record. Sounds like Eric Clapton. Sadly passed 6 years later at 39. Beautiful instrumentals. Bluesy.
Good, clean 80s rock. Fun. Their most successful album. Really driving beat. Sounds like an excellent night out. Really tight songs. A good time.
First solo album. Reggae vibes. Some lovely folk. Cozy. Nice and mellow. A bit boring.
Post-punk. After death of lead singer. 80s pop. Synths. New wave. Very tragic lead singer story. Dark. Some dark and gothy tunes I really like.
Jumps right in driving guitar and drums. 90s US punk rock. Album that made them internationally famous. Punk will never be my favorite genre, but it’s easy to see why this went platinum several times. Moshpit music for bouncy teens.
Very sombre. Incredibly unique voice. A lot of lyrics about gender identity. Beautiful and aching. Melancholy and a bit weird, but also very tender and beautiful.
Indian spy movie soundtrack from the 70s. Jazzy Indian spy music. Certainly sth different, appreciate the diversity. Fun. Indian bollywwod music mixed with Western spy soundtrack. Sure this is a cult album for some.
Scottish electronic. Chill lo-fi synths. Very atmospheric. Cool beats. I dig this. Interesting and varied. Pleasant and floaty. 80s vibes.
Unsurprisingly, very funky. Mid 70s. Some rock, some reggae. Chill. Quite boring, not unpleasant. Great guitar parts.
Pretty standard punk rock. Very influential for its time in the early 70s. Excellent beats. Last song is absolute mayhem. Some very cool rock tracks. Good energy. Iggy Popp.
What a legend. A bit rough around the edges still. Theatrical and a bit weird, musically very rich. An absolute classic. Deeply emotional.
Pop, punk, rock. LOVE her voice! Chrissie Hydne. The definition of cool rock voice. Best punk rock I’ve heard so far, awesome guitars. Loads of instrumentals. Turns into kind of cheesy pop half way.
Joni travelling around the US in the mid 70s recording her experiences over scattered beats. Kind of medidative. Poetry set to music. A bit rambling but also soothing and beautiful.
