Very average … a couple of good songs stand out at the start but then fizzles out and I was bored by the end. There are better Arcade Fire albums.
Loved it … great songs performed by one of the greatest soul singers of all time. What more do you want?
Great album … Great songs … No fillers.
Not listened to this for a while .. a great album, admittedly not Bowie’s best, but great nonetheless. Does make me sad though 😢
Not heard before … but recognised quite a few tracks. Pleasant enough but probably won’t listen again.
Loved it when I first heard it 35+ years ago. Still love it now. Solid 5.
A classic album that I assumed I would be giving 5 stars … but on re-listening, half the album is faultless, the other half has very much a B-side feel. Shame it wasn’t a 10-track masterpiece.
Good album but sounds dated … enjoyed it more in the 90s.
Motörhead doing Motörhead 👍
Not familiar with the band … not for me.
First time listen … would listen again 👍
A great album … can’t get better than opening with Debaser (maybe they should have put that last 😆)
A great live band but not their best album … Some great songs … some OK songs. On balance I’ll give it 4.
Vaguely recognised the cover … checked my collection and found that I own it. Have no recollection of buying it. It was OK but not very inspiring.
I love this album … all killer 😜
First time listen (and second and third). A great album 👍
Not a standout for me … probably wouldn’t listen again.
James Brown is great and I would have loved to have seen him live in his heyday … But this album isn’t great.
I liked the beats at the start … but by the time they”d looped through EVERY song I was very bored. Not for me.
I love Dexys. Kevin Rowland’s voice is simply Joyous … a happy hour spent dancing round my kitchen 😀
First time listen. I thought I’d like it. I don’t. Disappointing.
I liked it .. but deducted a star for excessive guitar solos and unnecessary fade-outs 😀
Great start, but disappointing thereafter.
I guess 80s rap just isn’t my thing
Not my favourite genre … but wasn’t bad.
Average … pleasant enough but won’t listen again.
After reading the reviews I didn’t think I’d like this and was expecting listening to be a chore … Reader, I loved it! Different and interesting and strangely soothing 😀
Too repetitive (and yes, I know that’s the point).
A good Bowie album … Golden Years is in my top 10 Bowie songs and Wild is the Wind is also great … but not enough in the rest to make it 5 stars.
A classic … the cover art alone is worth 5 stars 😍
Yes, it’s all the same song …. But you’ve got to admit it’s a great song 😀
Perfectly fine big band album … but won’t listen again.
Never really listened to much Dinosaur Jr … now realising I should have listened to more. I liked the noise 😃
Thought I’d like it more … OK but nothing more than that. Not rushing to listen again.
I listened to this album many years ago when someone older and wiser than me told me I should. I’m now older and wiser myself and I’ve listened again … It’s still terrible.
Pretty average …. Needs more oomph
First one on this list where i hadn’t heard of the band … didn’t do much for me and not sure why it’s here.
You know it’s a one star when you’re checking how many tracks are left from song 3 onwards.
I liked it … but not rushing for a second listen
Some memorable songs from the 80s that I liked more than I did in the 80s ….
Can’t beat a bit of ramshackle psychobilly punk rock 😀🤘🎸
It’s not bad .. but he was.
Excellent album … with added Iggy Pop (What more do you want? … he’s vibrating!!)
Gloomy Beck is not my favourite Beck.
Running out of ways to say OK but pretty uninspiring … unlikely to listen again.
Courtney Love was irritating in the 90s so Hole kind of passed me by …. but I liked it 👍
I liked a couple of songs … the rest range from forgettable to terrible (Mother … I’m looking at you 👀)
Sheffield’s finest rock hair metal band 🤘
A long-time favourite. Martina & Tricky’s styles complement each other perfectly.
A great soul album … but hoping for better from Curtis elsewhere in this list.
I didn’t think I’d like this one after reading the Wikipedia summary … but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fine (but still not my thing)
Hmmm … thought I’d like this one more. I think it was too long. I stuck it out because I was waiting for Hurt (and yes, the Man in Black does it better).
Honestly, I like REM but this didn’t do much for me. No match for their later 90s output.
Not really my thing, but I can see why it is highly rated.
Perfectly fine reggae music
Classic 80s pop … what’s not to like?! ❤️
Not for me … but Moondance lifts it to 2 stars.
The White Stripes have made some great albums … and some average ones.
A great debut from a fun live band … I liked it, but not sure it’s stood the time test. A solid 3 from me.
It’s a grower … I liked it more the longer it was on. Old Whore’s Diet is a highlight.
Another perfectly fine reggae album 👍
Perfectly fine 70s cheesy rock.
I was looking forward to listening but found it a bit disappointing if I’m honest … I didn’t hate it … but I didn’t like it much either.
Bonio is very shouty on this one.
Initial reaction … Who? 🤷♀️
Wikipedia … Oh No 😔
Reviews … I’m really going to hate it
Track 1 … let’s hope they are all this short
Track 2 … I quite like his voice, maybe won’t be so bad
Track 5 … who’s the girl? A bit screechy
Track 14 … He sounds bored now.
Track 34 … halftime break
⬇️
⬇️
Track 35 … back in (it’s all a bit same-y)
Track 48 … that seemed like a really long pause between tracks - I honestly thought it had finished 😔
Track 53 … time for another break 🥱
⬇️
⬇️
Track 57 … I think he’s losing it
Track 68 … this is my favourite track (skip to this one if you’re cheating 😉)
Done ✔️ Feels like I deserve some sort of reward.
I’ve awarded 2 stars for effort .. but I will NEVER be listening again.
Pleasant but not rushing to listen again.
Full disclosure … I’d count myself as a fan but hadn’t heard this before. I liked it 👍
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this project it’s that the words “concept album” fill me with dread 😟
I’m a big PJ fan … but I’ve never rated this album much. I prefer angry 90s PJ to moody 00s PJ.
Meh .. downhill after the first 3 tracks
Passed me by at the time .. I think I would have liked it back in the 90s, but not so much now.
Bjork doing her thing … I liked it 👍
A change in sound from their earlier stuff … not sure it was for the better.
This album was a favourite when i was in my teens … listened again and I still love it (but not quite 5 stars)
Obviously it’s a classic with numerous outstanding tracks … but it is too long (double albums should be reserved for greatest hits … which I suppose this is!)
One (maybe one and a half) good songs strung out into a whole album … yawn
Slade doing Slade as only Slade can 👍
I’d forgotten how many great tunes were on this album 👍
Not really my cup of T 😉 … but didn’t hate it.
Classic 70s. I liked a lot 🤘
Presumably a coincidence that I got this the day after we lost Brian. Not heard the album before … love the cover art and only knew the first song (from the late great Kirsty MacColl version … had no idea it was a cover until today). Overall, it’s not Surfin USA .. but I enjoyed it.
Great album … but probably overplayed. Felt a bit like an extended advert.
Radiohead doing Radiohead …unfortunately. I’m giving it 2 stars but only because I liked track 2.
Very little to say on this one … not really my thing but pleasant enough as background music.
I liked the two big hits … surprised by the number of covers in the rest. Didn’t love it.
Too short … but also too long 🤷♀️
Some great songs and some mediocre (too long) songs
It’s Pet Shop Boys … enjoyable enough but not the best Pet Shop Boys album.
Highway to Hell is obviously a classic track … but not enough here to push it to a 4. Back in Black is better.
Liked it more than I remembered liking it 👍
This was my first Elvis Costello album on this list … but reading the reviews I can see I should expect a few more 😂
Luckily I”m a fan, but I wasn’t familiar with this one. It was fine … I’m looking forward to Spike 👍
There are no doubt some great tracks on this album … but it is way too long and by the time I got to the end I’d forgotten them 🤷♀️
I used to own a Supergrass ironing board cover but it wore out from too much ironing … 5 stars for imaginative early 2000s merch stall goodies … 4 stars for the album 😀👍
Not sure I needed to hear this album before I die
Of all the Radioheads this is the best Radiohead 👍
Probably more of a 3 if I’m honest … but I’m giving it 4 for the nostalgia value 😊
Never heard of them … liked the beats and the vocals were cool but just too samey all the way through.
I wasn’t expecting to like it but I got my groove on 🕺🏻
I like it. Thank you very much 🕺🏻
The A side is a solid 5 … but tainted by the “concept” B side which I can’t give more than 3 for … so let’s go 4 😀
More crooner-y than expected. It was fine but won’t go back to it.
This is a very good album … but it somehow feels too long even though it’s quite short 🤔
I like it … not a lot … but I like it
A few great songs and a few average songs. I listened to the UK version … I’ve loved Mother’s Little Helper since I heard the Mary Coughlan version when I was a teenager, but Paint It Black is undoubtedly a great song…. Don’t understand why they didn’t include both🤷♀️
Some truly great tracks in the first 15mins … but quickly peters out.
Morrissey is and always has been a tool … but I like it 👍
Never heard of Dr O … will probably never hear him again.
I remember my music teacher at primary school teaching us Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds … at the time I had no idea it was a Beatles song but I’ve loved it ever since (she also taught us when I’m sixty-four which I loved not so much 😁)
Radiohead still doing Radiohead
I’m sure it’s excellent if you like this sort of thing
I really liked this one … every track unique in its own way and Uncle Nick popping in on The Sweetest Embrace was lovely ☺️
another one I’ve never heard of … didn’t do much for me
Iconic … but felt too long and too repetitive
It may be hardcore … but it’s not a different class
Disappointing if I’m honest … I guess I don’t like folk music as much as I thought I did
I like The White Stripes. I like Jack White … he’s a fantastic live performer who I’ve seen many times. There are some top tunes on this album (which I own) but I hardly ever listen to it. I don’t know why.
Too long … and really not my thing.
Good Times … Good Tunes 👍
It was fine … probably won’t ever listen again.
I love the first album .. hadn’t heard this one before and was prepared for disappointment. I was wrong. This one is great too 👍
Marvin Gaye doing Marvin Gaye
Great singer. Great songs. 👍
I really liked this … much more than I expected to 👍
I played Are You Experienced ALOT during my teens. Not heard this one before. I was expecting more of the same but it is very different … in a good way 👍
An average Beatles album is still a pretty good album 👍
I liked the singles … but the rest was pretty average
Vaguely remembered them … didn’t know any songs but was a perfectly fine 80s rock album.
I like Can I kick it? but didn’t much care for the other 13 inferior versions of Can I kick it? .. and to be honest the bit I liked most about Can I kick it? was the Lou Reed bit
I was a bit dubious as this followed another hip hop album that I really did not like … but I should have known that the Jurassic 5 boys wouldn’t let me down 😎
A good album … feels like more than a 3 but at the same time I’m not sure it’s a 4 🤷♀️
I was intrigued after the first couple of tracks… but by the end I was over it.
I liked it but was also slightly disappointed… i expected to love it
It wasn’t terrible … but I still don’t like Prog Rick
Only ever heard shot by both sides before … this was unexpectedly excellent 👍
Perfectly fine background music … not sure I’d play it again
Standard rock … but not for me
Perfect … another album that I listened to on repeat in my late teens and even though I haven’t heard it in several years all the memories came flooding back and I sang along to every word. Loved it ❤️
I tried. I really did. Why do they have to be SO LOOOOOONNNNGGGG 🥱
5 ⭐️for Sugar Kane … 4 ⭐️ for the rest
Another one I own but had forgotten about .. it was fine.
Loved it … any album that makes me dance while cooking tea = 4 stars 🪩😍
A bit short and a bit samey … but otherwise perfectly average OK album
I’ve heard of Fiona Apple but her music has until now passed me by. I was expecting something quite rocky/grungy after reading the reviews … but I was disappointed (and bored by the end).
I was pleasantly surprised … didn’t think I’d like it
Meh … individually, each song was fine but I didn’t want to listen to 13 of them in a row.
I didn’t think 60s Folk Rock was for me … I was right.
My favourite valentine of all the valentines ❤️
Good but not great … i preferred the Electric Landlady album (RIP Kirsty)❤️
I liked the ones that everyone likes
Little Richard is here … boo wop!
Might have pushed it to a 3 if he hadn’t mumbled the entirety of the lyrics
Not my favourite Chili Peppers album … but still quite good. Marked down to 3 due to length.
Reminiscent of stuff I was listening to in my late teens… would probably have liked it much more then, but still enjoyed it.
Ok. I’ll admit it. This isn’t bad.
In common with other Stevie albums on this list there are 4 or 5 fantastic tracks on this album and 4 or 5 ok tracks … so I can’t give it 5⭐️
I’m sure I heard a tune or two in there somewhere which were somewhat enjoyable.
I have nothing bad to say about this album … but just didn’t click for me.
Average … but a bit too long.
It was fine … Neil Young may be a great songwriter, but he is not a great singer.
Unmistakably Leonard Cohen … a great album but doesn’t have the nostalgia of the earlier ones.
Wouldn’t have ordinarily chosen to listen to this type of thing but I liked it
