This album starts out sounding exactly like 1967. I’d probably be super into it if it had less of a horn section...
A very interesting album that sounds like the 60s but offers some very unique sounds, lyrics and songwriting. A good album overall.

Rock suave, algo psicodélico
Musically this reminded me a lot of The Doors. Except for the singer, who wasn't great. The music is good though for the most part.

loved the start of this album, interest tapered near the end. Sounds like a lot of psych rock, but enjoyable! I'm curious if my lack of interest near the end is due to the fact that this style was so influential and I have been exposed to many imitations and tropes that reduce the value of the original in my brain? interesting range of styles and instrumentation found within, and cool to see an interracial band find success in the 60's in the genre.
Good sounds not than much special
Sort of folky psychedelic rock from the late 60s. It's one of those albums that I'm sure some people point to as "that was when music peaked" but it's just not my style at all.

It was good! Had a synthy vibe that predated its time for sure. Also, anytime a rock band uses brass, I'm a fan. Probably wont repeat listen though

I wasnt into this at the start but the album really built for me. I liked Live and Let Live and Bummer in the Summer
Dreamscape 60's, a mostly light-hearted trip rock experience. Overall a great listen, but sometimes just feels like it's missing something I can't put my finger on. A lot of 60's music I feel is on this list, I'd say this ranks among others of the decades, somewhere in the middle of the pack. True feeling: 3.3/5
Hippy disillusion in a folky stew.
Lovely, and in the style of good '60s music the lyrics are painful (in a good way)
Didn't do too much for me... Kind of reminded me of the Lovin Spoonful. Very bland, easy listening stuff. I did like some of the orchestral stuff they added, and thought it added to the experience that was otherwise pretty boring. I looked up the album on Wikipedia and there are those who consider it one of the best records ever, not sure why.
I did like it. Will listen again.

Honestly? Thought this was going to be around a one. But it seemed very honest and real, and I really ended up enjoying it! Symphonic at times, like the very last track? Reminded me of The Beatles in a lot of ways!
This is the absolute worst album ever made
A lot of plaudits for the album but it sounds like a lot of things from that time. Maybe I didn't listen closely enough to appreciate but it was a bit forgettable for me.

A bit too much hippie for me, but not bad music per se.
Occasionally dips into generic folk pop, but overall very enjoyable. Love the dark edge a couple of the songs have, it's something that sets this apart from, for example, The Byrds.
Very solid. Maybe the people would be the times is easily my favorite on the album. Gives me feels of early ska roots mixed with Spanish influenced jazz

Thought 3 songs were really good but
Honestly, there's nothing really stand out here. Some of these songs are duds some are okay but nothing tips the scales either way. On balance, it's decidedly mediocre. I liked A House Is Not A Motel and Bummer In The Summer alright though. So it's saved from a failing mark on the weight of those two songs alone.
Some really interesting arrangements here. Many of the lyrics were thoughtful and meaningful, but there are some serious duds in here as well. Overall, I really liked it, but (I'm sorry for this) I didn't Love it. Best track: You Set the Scene
Solid and enjoyed the drumming on this project
I am not a hippie. I've never used any sort of recreational drug, nor do I intend to in the future. As a result, if a piece of music was made with the intention of listening to it while high, there's a pretty good chance that I just won't "get" it. This album had a few decent parts and was pleasant enough overall, but most of the melodies sounded strange and just didn't click. I'm reminded fairly strongly of Animal Collective, whose music I feel similarly about. Best song: The Daily Planet, which was one of the ones that did click.
All-time classic rock album
The string arrangements stand out, especially on the heels of the Eagles. Doors-y but not in a cheesy or cloned way. Not sure if it's actually underappreciated or just a victim of the "it's old and therefore underrated" curse, but I'm glad I discovered it either way.
Surprised how much I ended up enjoying this album as a whole, read it was a favorite of Jim Morrison and I see why he took notes from his contemporaries here.
Eh more boring typical late 60s shit. 2/5.
