I suppose it was nice back in the day, but it's dated. I could take it or leave it.
a pretty interesting sound I would say. makes for a pleasant listen
I hadn't heard of this band before. I liked how strongly "70s" it felt, but nothing really grabbed me. Might need to relisten.
Boring ass shit
I loved at the name of the band, the name of the album, the album art, and thought "this looks dreadful". But when I found the album and opened it on spotify it turned out I had already favorited the first song. So apparently I have heard at least one song by the band before and liked it. Starting with Alone Again Or, it is a good song. Not the best, but perfectly good. The second song could be good if the singer was better. But man from there this goes right downhill. I mean, the lyrics are trash. The signing is, shall we say, uneven. The music and arrangements are mostly pleasant. How did this stand out in 1967 as a great album, much less something I needed to hear before I died? Everything good about this album has been done better by others. Bummer in the Summer, for example, could have been great with some 13th Floor Elevators electric jug.
Nothing special. Classic 60s folk/orchestra sound.
First half was better although I did like The Good Humour Man. Very 1960s hippy Woodstock vibe.
Definitely not a Beatles riff-off, of course they aren't, their name isn't a misspelled animal name. But are they enjoyable? Personally, not really. Actually, they sound more like The Kinks. And while it is a skeptical take on the "hippie" movement of their time, I didn't really caught the dark undertone in their sound. It's in the lyrics. But still, the meat of this album is more on the sound. Great strings, great bass, great beat. But sadly, it didn't really captivate me. Perhaps the sound came out more of an uninterested than a skeptical view of all those colorful movements. It sounds colorful and bright, but the colors are a bit bland.
Any absolute snoozer of an album. Bad singing, bad songs, and very late 60s sounding. 4/10.
Yet another album that, while not too bad, should have been consigned to the dustbin of history were it not for this website and its peculiar, fetish like, habit of attempting to put lipstick on pigs.
a bit dated for me, only song I like is alone again
Most of the album was forgettable, my favorite was the “bummer in the summer” but I probably wouldn’t relisten to this.
Sounded like it belonged on the Austin Powers Soundtrack or The Beatles, but not good.
I should be in a dark incense-y room or something. Don’t remember much of this - it felt sorta bland
The first 2 songs I really enjoyed. Classic 60s sound. Then it got more psychedelic than I prefer and they lost me at “Oh the snot has caked against my pants”
Decent 60s music, killed the vibe.
Mostly pretty bad
Thought this was average psych rock at best.
All of this music sounds the same. I wonder how many bands around this time were like "oh! I've got a great name for a band" only to be disappointed that someone else had the EXACT SAME NAME for the EXACT SAME MUSIC. Boring, uninteresting and one-dimensional. I'm borderline angry that I had to listen to another crappy album. "Damn hippies!"
The guitar work is nice. There is too much of a hippy-dippy attempt to make artsy music though.
mmmm gotta listen to it again maybe
couldn't finish
Hmmmm. There's a free-flowing nature to these tracks that I am not digging, baby. Nothing here that I could sink my teeth into. As soon as it felt like I had a tune, it would slip out of my grasp and go spinning off in some other direction. I just couldn't do it.
2.0
I have a thing for late sixties albums. I don't enjoy all of them, but I'm fully prepared to listen fully. This wasn't an awful album, but one song blended into the next. By the time it was through, I realized how unremarkable it was. The vocals are decent, lyrics good but I won't remember any of it in a couple of hours.
I did not really like this album. Some of the guitar work was good, but the vocals and lack of substantive lyrical content was tough for me
hippies were a mistake
2,5; I like the vibe and music isn't bad but that's all
Not for me
This is an album that starts pretty good and progressively decreases with each song. I enjoyed the first track and then maybe the next two. And that was it. Album couldn’t stay consistent and felt like it became too much of a hippie rock album. 4.3/10
Iskreno, nema loše pjesme na ovom albumu, al nema ni sad neke da idem ikad opet poslušat.
A cynical folk album that definitely sounds like the 60's. It's alright.
A completely unremarkable album. I was not familiar with the band or any of the songs. It is best described as folk music. It have no desire to listen to this album again.
It was okay. A bit too mid 60s folk for my taste. Had a few catchy songs though
Listen taking drugs (good Claudio)
Not sure, bit soft and twangy for my taste
Fine, not really my style.
Reminded me of the first album spinal tap released in the parody film this is spinal tap. BAD AND NOT GOOD.
It’s ok. Hard to understand why it’s on a list like this.
not my style
Instantly forgettable
Very 60s psychedelic....nothing amazing but easy listening. A little twee at times which I don't like so much, but cool. Probably won't go back to this one which makes it a 2/5.
I already knew and quite liked Alone again or. Not sure why the full album is so highly recommended, pretty ordinary - nothing bad, just nothing special or memorable.
Never heard of this band or album before. Did not know a single song by this group. The songs are mellow and the overall tone is chill. It just didn't grab my attention though. Meh overall. I don't feel like this is a gap in my musical knowledge that needed to be filled.
It was ok but grated on me a bit
I've had a long string now of 60s psychedelic/pop/folk so my patience is wearing thin. Still the opener surprised me, pleasant orchestration, nice minor key, spanish guitar. But by halfway through I'm bored shitless.
meh, not that special
another footnote in the folksy psychedelic rock scene. surprised this is so well-received

A real letdown after a promising opening track. Occasionally enjoyable but on the whole really poor
The opening track did not hook me, I was reminded of "YMCA" by "The Village People", and not in a good way. The second grabbed me instantly. The darker lyricism expressed in "A House is not a Motel" paints a dim view of '67. The album somewhat regresses from there, the tracks undulate between grating or uninteresting, and complex earworms. Overall, an interesting album, but I'm not interested in listening to any song other than "A House is not a Motel".
"The news today will be the movies for tomorrow" only half standout, very inoffensive and quite forgettable for me live and let live has a bit of pep in it but not much "and it is oh so Repetitious" sums it up for me but the music is pretty good but never gonna listen to it again so a 2 - not for me but doesn't hurt my ears
60’s California free love shite. Can’t warm to it. Nothing is standing out as original or unique within the genre so on that basis, I can’t give this anything more than a 2. Some stuff just doesn’t age well and this is it.
This is an album that I would only listen to the first time. The rhythms and instruments are interesting once, for it doesn't have that intrinsic enjoyability that keeps me coming back to it. The singing is sub par, and I really dislike how some instruments are thrown in the left ear and the rest of the instruments are put in the right ear. Favorite track: A House is Not a Motel
Not a fan. I'm not sure if i'm missing some historical significance or what.
Just so boring dude oh my god
boring
I couldn't find whatever it was that got this LP to the top 1001. It would be harsh to describe it as bad, but it was definitely boring.
typical late 60's rock ballads... meh
Starts strong but then the bottom really falls out in the second half as it gets more into the psych rock parts to the point I paused the album in order to find the next one to listen to. 2.5 but rounding down
Neither here nor there on this one to give it a lot of coverage. Fresh, novel sounds that influenced later bands
This album starts out sounding exactly like 1967. I’d probably be super into it if it had less of a horn section...
Gave it a chance, not interested. Next,
Nope
Too hippy dippy for me
Didn't do too much for me... Kind of reminded me of the Lovin Spoonful. Very bland, easy listening stuff. I did like some of the orchestral stuff they added, and thought it added to the experience that was otherwise pretty boring. I looked up the album on Wikipedia and there are those who consider it one of the best records ever, not sure why.
has a certain psychedelic folk charm to it. flows really nicely. quite dark
Meh
A bit too much hippie for me, but not bad music per se.
I am not a hippie. I've never used any sort of recreational drug, nor do I intend to in the future. As a result, if a piece of music was made with the intention of listening to it while high, there's a pretty good chance that I just won't "get" it. This album had a few decent parts and was pleasant enough overall, but most of the melodies sounded strange and just didn't click. I'm reminded fairly strongly of Animal Collective, whose music I feel similarly about. Best song: The Daily Planet, which was one of the ones that did click.
Eh more boring typical late 60s shit. 2/5.
Nah
I feel like I've heard of the band called "Love" but upon looking at their Wikipedia info and their top songs on Spotify - I don't recognize any of these based on the titles. So maybe I am confusing them with someone else - maybe the band called "Free". Don't know. Thoughts after listening 3 times... Was surprised that not one of these songs rang a bell. I figured there must have been at least 1 that had entered my consciousness at some point. Sometimes in parts of this it kinda reminded me of The Kinks and sometimes the Moody Blues - but the songs are generally not near as good as those bands. I found most of this rather generic and forgettable with barely any standout moments - musically, vocally, lyrically. I can easily come up with a list of hundreds of albums that are better than this that did not make this list. Wow - I just noticed that there is another Love album on this website. Maybe that one is better?? I did end up "liking" 2 songs - "A House is Not a Hotel" (the guitar part in this was pretty cool) and "The Daily Planet" (good vibe) - but each of them were just "ok" and not "great" songs. Liked songs on Spotify: 2/11 Rating: 1/5
what am i even listening to? What genre is this just a bunch of everything and nothing
not for me
What kind of middling Hippie bullshit is this? Is this Satire? Is there a song on here that resembles a hit? Anyone? Hello?
Hippy nonsense. Really bad
Putting my biases aside, it’s probably more of a 2, but I really want to just spite the bafflingly high amount of rock critics who think this isn’t just a boring, pretentious nothingburger of a record, so here goes.
This played like a parody of 60’s psychedelic albums. Surely no one intentionally made or rhymed “I believe in magic, why? Because it is so quick”. With that, I realized I could be tortured no longer.
nup
I HATED this album. Knock off Beatles and just so very forgettable. Maybe this suffered from being yet another 60s/70s boy band but it wasn't unique or really enjoyable at all.
A few interesting strange bits, but mediocre singing and poor production.
The most annoying lyrics I had never heard
Sounds like elevator music. I'd take the stairs.
not my cup of tea. barely noticed it.
Not for me
I don’t love Love. In fact, I don’t even like Love. This album sits right in the pocket of 60s rock that makes me want to clean my ears with knives while I bang my head against a wall. It’s so drab and uninteresting. I’m not into psychedelic rock or psychedelics themselves, so I’m not the target audience. I appreciated some of the melodies and musicianship on the album, but I really disliked the lyrics and vocals. I feel like the opposite of the old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn. I’m the younger woman telling the old people to take their hippy-dippy trippy trash elsewhere. Now, scram!
very slow
This was incredibly boring.
1 alone - 0 2. motel - 0 3. again - 1 4. Planet - 0 5. Man -0 6. Red - 0 7.people - 0 8. Live - 0 9. Humor - 0 10. Summer - 0 11. Scene -0 Terrible fucking band !!!!!!!!!!
Really did not enjoy this album found it but of struggle to listen to no real stand out songs
Bland
Nothing changes. Still crap to this day.
Bad 60' Flower power easy listening. Austin Powers dance party.
Ummmm. The music is good, the lyricism is stunted and sounds like a teenager is improvising. Terrible experience
indistinguishable from any number of other 60s rock albums we've had, another album that seems like it's on the list for the single. an entirely unrecommendable album experience.
Boring album - songs all sound the same
Differed sound from the 60’s. Not the typical rock n roll sound. Seemed to be a nice change.
listened to it but dornt remember shit
60’s mediocre music. What the hell is an Andmoreagain? Cool cover, album, not so much 1001 album worthy: No - 22/39
Pretty boring sixties rock, IMHO.
People like this? I've tried to listen to this to get it maybe once a decade and every time come away feeling like, wow this is so lame and stupid. Boring, lame, uninteresting. Hard pass.
OMG, wer hat denn diese Hippiemucke ans Tageslicht gezerrt?
For the love of god, no more 60s / 70s psychedelic
I know I know, #First. Don't care.
Just not good 60s rock
Painful
i hate medieval psychedelic rock
Didn’t like even a little bit
This will be a one time listen for me. I get that this is very much the music of the time, but I didn’t like it. The singers voice seemed like it would be better suited for a softer folk sound.
Crap
Booooooooring
Not for me - I would not listen to this again. very generic folk music.
60’s isn’t my style
Made it two songs
Listened to it yesterday, can't remember anything about it.
already forgotten it. why is this in here
Meh, it's aight
Nope
Listened to a couple songs and it wasn't the vibe Owen's function was last night, was fun. Wish I knew more of the ppl that came. Currently tho feeling good, phone is active which is nice
The word play here is pretty damn lame. God get me out of this album. Thank god thats over.
Leñe, a ver cuándo ponéis un LP que me guste. El algoritmo es bastante malo.
2 Hours Super Relaxing Baby Music ♥♥♥ Bedtime Lullaby For Sweet Dreams ♫♫♫ Sleep Music
Apart from the first song, I didn't like this at all. How did this terrible band end up with two albums on this list?
Wank
3/10, capaz 2/10..
I've never been into the more psychedelic stuff from the '60s and '70s, so it's just not my thing.
This wants to be something it's not. It's just boring, self important, and tired.
Not my favorite
Pretty dated. Definitely some hippie folk music.
Boring.
I could've die without listening to this.
Bleck. Not worth listening to the whole thing. This has been done better.
Did the folksy side of this band kick off the psychedelic era of rock music? Yes. But if I wanted to listen to a Moody Blues album, I'd just go listen to a Moody Blues album.
this was a real stinker. lyrics were either nonsensical or inane, music was forgettable. just not very good.
Nope.
I want to be a hippy… Well, actually, I don’t if it means listening to that
Couldn't get into this one.
Nah, the whole 60s psychedelic rock thing just doesn't do it for me, and most of these groups remind me of Spinal Tap's '(Listen to the) Flower People,' as this album does. I get the irony of an aging wanna-be hippie like me not liking 60s psychedelic rock at all, but I really don't. On we go.
ooh i hate this music.
Lead track - Alone Again Or - was quite good but the rest bored me to tears
Trite 60's hippy garbage. The album art says it all. Drawn by someone's cousin.
[inserts something about hippy free love harmonised bullshit and how I’m right about the 60s being awful]
More folk rock and less psychedelic. Not so much. A little weak for rock for me. Some Zepplin crossover but not quite enough - gets to renaissance-ish
Just not varied at all - some uptempo compositions but most are slow acoustic ballads that all blend together
Didn't like
This is the absolute worst album ever made
Did not like this album one bit, same old guitar intro and the singing was not very good.
