1001 Albums Summary

Interesting album. Thought it was really good. I haven't listened to the Kinks a lot, but I see their appeal. I really liked Australia and Victoria.

Interesting. Not a huge fan of Blur, but it wasn't bad. I didn't hate it, but not sure there was anything that was going to make my favorites list.

Wow, not familiar with Faces. Didn't realize this was Rockin' Rod. The initial impression is great bluesy rock. Definitely some similarity to the Doors. I like it. It will be interesting to see if all the tracks are like this.

I've never been a Tom Waits fan. This is an interesting album, but can't say I enjoyed it much.

OK, this is weird, 6 songs, but the first track is 20 minutes long. Plus, I've never heard of this, not even sure what the genre is.

I was kind of over Kate Bush. Running up the Hill has been overplayed and overcovered over the years, but I found this album to actually be pretty enjoyable.

Ugh, Bob Dylan is so hard for me to listen to. Actually, I found this better than I thought and quite enjoyed it.

Vintage Cure is always great.

I always think of David Crosby as some kind of Wilford Brimley type fat old guy. Like the quaker oats guy or something. This is really pretty good, and good to remember that he was a big deal back in the day, both solo and with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (or the variations thereof). Oh, I didn't realize Crosby as in the Byrds.

Really enjoyed this.

Not a huge Metallica fan, but that is a good album.

Classic Stones

I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but it's iconic for sure.

Wow, this is weird. Prog rock, lots of vintage keyboard and other weird sounds. Some of it almost symphonic. Not really my jam.

LOVE Steve Earle

Really strange. Some cool guitar, but not really my things.

More punk than I thought, so that was kind of cool, but couldn't get behind the lyrics.

Queen is always great.

Pretty sure I'm going to like this more than I used to like Chicago. Really cool. Some of it got a little jam bandy, but really liked the horns in the band and it being lest soft rock than the later Chicago.

A friend introduced me to the Pet Shop Boys in college, and they have been one of my favorites ever since. I'm not sure I've ever listened to this whole album by itself, but Being Boring, So Hard and Jealousy are great tracks, so I'm sure the rest will be good too.

Again, not really my jam, but hey, I'll listen.

Just no

Really interesting. The first few tracks I thought really sounded muddy and like they were recorded in a garage or something. The later tracks seemed better. Not sure I love it, but it wasn't bad overall.

Whole thing isn't on spotify. I'm not sure why. I actually enjoyed what was on there more than I thought I would.

I like Leonard, but some of these are depressing and hard to listen to.

I'm surprised that there are two Alice Cooper albums on this list. I didn't think he was that influential, and I didn't realize this work was early 70s. I would have thought it was late 70s or early 80s.

Interesting, great indie rock feel, but I'm not sure any of the songs really hooked me.

Interesting that almost every song on this album is prison-related and dark. It wouldn't seem like prisoners would want to be reminded of their escape, but maybe it helped him connect with them. Seemed different from the San Quentin album, darker somehow.

I like the genre, but too grating for me. I'm not even sure why.

He has such a great voice. I don't love every song on this album, but his guitar and voice is just so great makes it worthy of 5 stars.

Good classic REM

I really like Fela Kuti, but this is mostly really long jam tracks with Ginger Baker hammering on the drums. I appreciate the significance, but trying to listen to it wasn't great.

This is just a really great rock and roll album. So good.

I love electronic music of the early 90s. This wasn't an amazing album, but it's pretty good, and a fun listen.

Interesting but a little tough to listen to.

I had this CD when I was a kid and it was great then. Still great.

I like this kind of music typically, but this was a little weird. The song with the dolphins was over the topo.

I forgot how much I liked t his. It's so good.

This album is so great, not only because it's such high quality, but it's amazing to listen to his final work. One of the best albums every in our opinion.

I'm not a big Beatles fan, but that's a really good album.

I love Dinosaur Jr., and this is a great album, especially the cover of Just Like Heaven.

Papa Was a Rolling Stone is a great song.

I just don't get Kanye

Overall, I'm not a big Stones fan, but I have to say I do like this album quite a bit. Sympathy for the Devil is a great classic song, but the whole album is pretty great musically, especially the guitar.

A couple good songs, but I've never been a big Pixies fan.

Better than I thought. I've never really been a Radiohead fan, but I actually enjoyed this.

I just don't love this style of Jazz. Listened to some Miles Davis recently and loved it, but Coltrane isn't my favorite. That said, I can see why this is important to listen to.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. The Killers had such a great sound and were so tight on this album. There's a reason the first 5 tracks on this album are not just hits, but an iconic representation of the era. It's so good.

This was hard to listen too, maybe I just wasn't in the mood.

I love Peter Gabriel.
