Reviews (page 7 of 8)

I was familiar with the first track on the album. The rest was pretty boring. I don't need to listen to it again. 2/5

Almost a snoozefest...but not quite...just kind of boring. Alas, my favorites were Alone Again Or and You Set the Scene. 2.75 rounded down to 2.

Another psychedelic rock/pop album from this 60s group. Why there are two albums from them in generator i'll never know because they are very similar and very mid.

I didn't love this. I'll be forever changing from this to a different album.

Started out boring and only got worse

скучно скучно

Malo mi je lejm album, a čak sam i očekivala da bi moglo biti okej kad sam krenula slušati. Jbg. 2/5, 4/10

Not much for the psychedelic stuff.

idk ich dachte es wird richtig geil sein aber es war alles irgendwie nicht so meins. Bisschen langweilig teilweise.

This album is relative for one reason Alone again or Other than that it’s great in certain areas but it’s just not ear catching, enjoyable, not all bits but doesn’t really make an impact to me. Maybe I’m wrong or missing something..

Maybe everything that was wrong with late 60s rock?

"A House is Not a Motel" was the only valid to me.

no se destaca en nada, ni para bien ni para mal

Too folky

not really up my alley here.

Hard album to rate because most of the songs felt dated, BUT I really really liked a few songs - especially "Maybe the People..." Overall, just ok though.

Whatever? I probably won't remember this in a week

One of those dumb 60s folk type albums. Like the Birds, it's just boring

I loved the sound of this initially, but around the halfway point it got stagnant and the back half just blended together.

Maybe its just this album is too basic for me? I can understand many of the arrangements, styles and whatnot that were used in this album could have been new, innovative or niche by their standards. But listening to it on 2026 after a lifetime of albums where artists try to one-up each other with new techniques, new vocals, new samples, new everything... This just does not hit the mark for me. There are some solos and powerful political messages I really liked in one or two songs, but that's it.

Interesting, but not one I'm reaching back to

No fav song

Yea yea. Very 60s. Could have been their other album on here

Not my favorite.

I enjoyed a few tracks, others were skipable 2.5 stars

This album wasn’t really my thing. It felt like it dragged on, every song sounded similar. Maybe in another time and place but right now it isn’t for me

nice listen, but songs listen samey to me

Completely forgot I listened to this a few hours later and was wondering what the album for today was

This has never really clicked for me, even if I am still a Wes Anderson fan. Just too much of the 60s folk/psychedelia ponderings for my tastes. There’s a childlike/nursery rhyme quality to a lot of the verse/lyrical melodies that is in keeping with those trappings, which is then heightened to melodrama by the strings. A few of the songs open up into something more compelling, but they’re still surrounded by the aforementioned.

Not interesting

Acid Rock is not my kind of jam.

Late 60's, folky kinda album. Didn't do much of anything for me other than make me check the time to see how much longer I would be listening to it

I can't get around the singer's voice, and I do not like it at all. 2

It's not unpleasant but it didn't move me at all. Didn't get the vibes that some others seem to have taken from it.

The arrangements were interesting instrumentally, but the vocals and lyrics didn't please at all. Voice was ugh. ⭐⭐

Ugh, the singing and lyrics. Taking a breath in the middle of a sustained word? Hate it. And snot? Eww. Nobody needs to hear about that except maybe your ENT.

Typical 60s psych folk rock. A little dated but still listenable and better than many others on here.

Just another 1960 psych rock band good as all others but outdated.

Psychedelic funk and more again!

I like Love but I did not love Forever Changes. De Capo was my intro to the band and I prefer that album. This was a little softer psychedelia. Top tracks are "Alone Again Or" and "Bummer in the Summer." The rest of the record hung in there but did not move me...2.38 stars.

Not bad, not great. Maybe a tad better than the prior Love album but pretty similar in my standing. There a couple of moments that stand out and make you think these guys could have had something more. However, for some reason the whole album just doesn't have anything that sticks to you when its said and done. Even the best songs are just alright and seem like they need some more development. Maybe it's the softer vocals or slightly folky style that makes it just another 60s album as opposed to something worth exploring deeper. I do believe the artists are talented but something about their arrangement appears to hinder what could be the sum of their parts. I've tried to give Love a shot in the past and they just can't get over the hump to make me care at all. 2.37 stars

This album just felt odd to me as if I was at a medieval fair or something. Not sure why it is on this list.

meh. an okay listen. like Byrds or Chicago-lite

ging van vrij goed zeer vlug over naar slaapverwekkend

Boring and nothing that special

Eu nem lembro o que escutei. 2,5

2.4 stars

Correcto

I was like eh, but I think I liked track 7.

Every now and then I've tried listening to this because it's "a great album" and lots of artists that I like say it's one of the greatest albums of all time. Yet again today, it's done absolutely nothing for me. His very deliberate phrasing when singing just leaves me cold. I quite like the drums.

not for me

Liked songs: A House is Not a Motel rating: 1.5/5 Feb. 09, 2026 (6PM)

60 psychedelic / like old Pink Floyd, but not as good

Yawn. Not awful music, but it was certainly non-memorable. Not a collection I care to hear again.

60’s folk pop. Yeah this sucks

4/10, Favorite song: Daily Planet

Alone Again Or is wonderful so I was expecting to like this, but I didn't click with many of the other songs. Some of the lyrics are laughably bad, with weird stressing of syllables. A bit puzzling that this is so highly revered.

Eh. I guess it's fine for what it is, but not my jam. 2.4

Surprisingly didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. But some overall good 60’s folk rock tracks

Orkestret gør, at de skiller sig ud fra alle de andre 60’er bands, men synes ikke nogen af numrene er lige så gode som det første

Pretty boring.

Not really getting an urgent sense of meaning or purpose from this one. Therefore it doesn't make a case for iself on this list.

I have never heard of this group, although I know “Alone Again Or” as The Damned covered it. I also see Love are actually still around and touring the UK in April 2026. The album is pretty unobtrusive, to the extent that it sort of played through without me really realising. Second listen I tried to pay more attention but it became background music again. Certainly not a bad album, but one I already can’t remember.

Just didn't really get with this it slipped into the background and I don't really remember it

Pretty bland, honestly. I'm assuming these guys were so influential to the point that they sound stereotypical of their own sound, but I still don't dig it.

Very much of this decade. Reminded me of The Mamas and The Papas, The Zombies and Cream.

Musically decent but a lot of the lyrics felt like they were written by a 5 year old, random jumbles of words that don’t really say anything when all is said and done Standout songs: The Daily Planet Maybe the People

This album sounds incredibly dated and has not aged well. Parts of it seem like a cheap Moody Blues parody. I ain't feeling it dawg...

This is the kinda of hippie shit (derogatory) that I can rarely get behind. There are a few sections where it gets sufficient psychedelic (guitars, horns, strings) that I can dig it, but the lyrics and vocals both generally grate. Peaked at the first two tracks.

Didn't love it. It's not bad it's just not all that exciting.

Interesting instrumental parts but some of the writing was pretty dumb. I really couldn’t get into this

This album, and for sure this band, can't figure out what it wants to be. WalMart Doors? Beatnik Bakersfield rock? Backup band for Jose feliciano

I listened to the whole thing. It was boring without ever entering the 'I can't listen to this shit' zone.

Way to start off with the good song.

It's not bad, not hard to listen to. Not really noteworthy in my opinion.

I hope this won't be another one of those unabridged paranoid hippie monologues I seem obliged to sit through.

Great first song, but imo there’s no reason to listen to the album if you’ve heard the byrds and other 60s music

I did not like this nearly as much as some other songs by Love I have heard. It was really easy to zone out during this album because it just didn’t stay interesting even if it was easy to listen to

The album is not bad, very 60s, but too soft for me. Some songs are good, but most of it felt too long. 2,5/5. Would not listen to it again.

Okay, 60’s pop. Beat little flow in the delivery of lyrics.

When I listen to this, I imagine a bunch of guys running around in Robinhood costumes. 🤷‍♂️

Not my style, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad. I don’t know how I feel about it, I’ll probably have to listen to it a few times in different contexts to see if anything changes.

Psychedelic rock without any edginess can be some of the most boring music recorded. Add in a heaping of the most bland vocals and lyrics and you have yourself a 2 star. A House Is Not a Motel at least has some good guitar work

Ehatever

Just mid 3 out of 10

Folksy skåpmat

Maybe this just psychedelic rock isn't my jam

Not very interesting, reminds me of 60s movie music. And it’s also depressing. No thanks.

Boring

Absolutely KILLER first track. Then it just devolved. I understand the talent and why people like it, I just don't. Too many songs remind me of fantasy, elf or nymph flitting about in a forest, or so.e such shit. And I can't stand that shit. There was another Love album I got a few months ago. I liked that one much more. But what a killer first song! 2 stars for Alone Again Or alone

Ok 2/5

Not into it.

This is NOT my style of music at all. I can still hear the talent in it, but I would never listen to this normally.

More of the same, psychedelic rock is generic and boring to me. I can listen to a couple of songs at a time but it’s just not for me. Jazz of rock… 4.0

Just a bit bland and inconsequential

4/10 - folksy relaxing pop rock, ok but nothing notable

Boring! Forgettable. I have heard of the song Alone Again Or. Wasn't the worst, but certainly wasn’t great.

Album was just okay

Strong in places, but at times verges into a dawdling parable of contemporary music.

I cannot remember a single song just hours after listening to this. Completely inoffensive and also completely forgettable.

Possibly the worst band name of all time. Must say most of the songs both felt quite cheesy and pretentious. The lyrics and how they were sang was a bit of a thorn in the side as well. Plus points for sounding fairly fresh for being a 1967 record, can imagine it was a bit more impactful hearing it back then. As it is now it just isn’t that interesting, sadly. Definitely don’t want to revisit this, so I guess a strong 2 is appropriate.

eh. didn't find much here. Just couldn't really get into it. Wasn't terrible. 2/5

Real 60s flower child hippie vibes. Not bad. Not good 2 1/2

I don’t get the rave reviews for this album. It’s an irritating album.

Couldn't listen to it

The opening track is outstanding and the rest are a fine example of folk\ psychedelia, but don't have huge appeal in the modern era. I'm not sure I agree this belongs in the list. Outside of the initial track (Alone Again Or), the best thing about this is the cover graphics, which are the epitome of 1967.

The cover of this album feels a lot more known than the album itself as I’ve never heard these songs and would be hard pressed to tell you who the band was from memory. It’s cursed with my usual criticisms of the 60s album: a strong leading track or two followed by some really weak filler.

Helt för simpelt och inte alls byggt på ljud man inte kan hitta i andra artister som också gör bättre sånger i allmänhet.

That guitar bit in the first song is amazing, the rest is nice but gets tiresome. Fucking awful lyrics throughout.

Folk rock and psychedelia are not genres I enjoy much is one of the things I've learned from this journey so far. This album has not changed my mind about that. I found it unremarkable and incapable of catching my attention Standouts Andmoreagain 2/5

The trumpets helped some of these tracks (eg "Maybe the People ..."), and this is better than Da Capo, but still isn't really to my taste.

No me gustó. Super meloso. No hay nada que destacar

Family road trip in Oregon day 2. This one was interesting - particularly the simple and innocent lyrics - but not something anyone wants to hear again. 2/5

Some interesting guitar work but not particularly good songs.

Nothing makes it stick out from other 70s records rock

Stand out for Live and Let Live, but the rest was just okay psychedelic stuff

It’s nice to see bands like these pop up on the list. It assures me that there are other artists from the 60’s other than the Beatles or “insert generic well regarded blues rock band here” to look forward to. The music here is nice enough, and I recall hearing and liking the opening track at some point in my life, but there isn’t a whole lot else here that excited me. The tunes have this slightly out of time feel; they just moved on by, like a Thanksgiving float of Woodstock hippies shaking their tambourines, and holding up ‘peace signs’. Godspeed you beatniks. Away with ye, and on to the next band of freak-shows. ⭐️⭐️

I mean that was weird but not in a fun way. 2 stars

sure! 2.5

I listened to this like five hours ago and have no recollection of it

feeling a 2.5 but not enough for a 3

No stand outs

Not much of a fan

Not enough "psychedelic" or "rock" in this psychedelic rock band. Everything felt pretty tame. It's not for me.

I actually don’t hate the palette here, though I’m normally not one for the Summer of Love psychedelic era. I find the vocals a little weak. Standout track is: “A House is Not a Motel”

naja, nix berauschendes dabei

Just when I was starting to get modern albums from this list I'm thrown yet another boring album from the 60's. Music from the 60's was not that great, give it a rest.

around 700 albums in, there are no new mountains to climb. Love was fine but nothing special

it's meant to be influential. I'm sure it is, but it's pretty dull.

Never heard of these guys, so my lack of expectations were completely fulfilled by this listen.

Another folky type singer-songwriter album. Cool album cover and a cool name. This album is almost like sing talking. My feelings toward it are very similar to Gram Parsons which we just listened to an album before. Probably could be a 3, but I enjoyed Gram Parsons a smidge more.

Folk / psychedelic

It was okay. I wasn’t the worst thing I’ve listened to. It was just very boring in my opinion. It sounds like every other album from the 60’s, honestly. Not a huge fan of music from that era in general.

Dull and generic psychedelic crud.

beatles esq

I liked the back half better than the first, it's still not an album I'll find myself returning to.

Groovy but not super my cup of tea.

Sort of folky psychedelic acoustic stuff. Was okay in the background as it seemed to finish without me noticing, really didn't mix it up very much. I know the 60s were hugely influential on loads of genres but feel like I'm wading though landfill now. Didn't have to hear this, not painful but not worth listening to.

It was aight

Was alright

Good opening song that I always thought was a Calexico song but the rest is kinda floaty hippie stuff that is pretty meh. I'll just continue listening to Calexico

I didn't mind this, but it didn't really rise above its peers for me.

Nothing here really stood out. It wasnt bad but there’s nothing there too much for me.

Didn’t do anything for me sadly.

it approaches decent on occasion, but ultimately it's just kind of standard hippie flower child pop.

wasn't the most captivating listen, but there were a couple of decent tracks rating: ⭐⭐ [48/100]

Boring

Overall chill psychedelic rock album. It has its catchy moments but very little of it was able to hold my attention. If youre doing anything else it is very easy to not notice a different song has started

The most 60s sounding album ever.

60’s hippy rock. Decent

Bit dull.

Little bit boring

I have heard many better albums from that time period. This one could not hold my interest. 2 stars or D+ for me.

Fav: A House Is Not A Motel Least Fav: Live And Let Live I didn’t love this…

The first half was pleasant, although nothing special. But by the second half if got boring quite quickly and I was starting to lose interest. This one could grow on me in the future though.

Some slick guitar that runs perfectly counter to the cutesy Cowsill-esque vocals—though the frontman sounded like Jimi Hendrix for just that one song(??) Definitely maybe prejudged the album for the band name—Love is a bold choice

My thoughts while listening to this album: why do most of the songs sound similar to one another? The genre is Rock but it sounds more alternative rock

Never really got this album. Tried listening a few times and it often ends up just being background music.

one of those typical late 60's records that if you didnt know it (and love it) at that time you're very unlikely to know it or love it now. Pass

Americans trying to be the Beatles. Not bad, but not something I liked

Pretty enjoyable late 60's album with love and peace throughout

Solid 2.5 not bad, no stand outs for me

It was ok

puoliksi ihan hyvää kamaa ja puoliksi maailman paskinta kuraa mitä voi kukaan ikinä tuottaa. ei ette voi vaihdella vakavan surueukko ja hupaisa hapsuttelija välillä ei ette ole the beatles... huoh ja sieltä tuli vertailua comparison is the death of duty... loki nr 780: vaimo hakkasi taas päähän lujaan. mustelmaa niskassaai vittu. horrid.. maybe the people would the times or between clark and hilldale

Never heard of 'em, won't remember 'em. Dated 60's mellow rock without any bangers.

Honestly, there's nothing really stand out here. Some of these songs are duds some are okay but nothing tips the scales either way. On balance, it's decidedly mediocre. I liked A House Is Not A Motel and Bummer In The Summer alright though. So it's saved from a failing mark on the weight of those two songs alone. 2.5⭐️

its okay. pretty run of the mill folk rock. usually the vocals are a dealbreaker for stuff like this, and the lead singer doesnt do me any favors, just a bit too much of a whine. Also these songs just end weirdly. listen to Old Man, it just stops with no lead out.

Can't think of anything else to say other than it's just totally fine

I would have said I’d already had this on my list … but it must have been one of Love’s other albums. It’s quite nice psychy pop rock. ‘Alone Again Or’ is a very strong opening. The rest could be a musical stage production. Everything has that clean enunciation. It’s OK but not one I will be rushing to come back to.

I think I know why this never hit it huge. Credit to the writers of Spinal Tap if they were channeling this - got a serious "listen, to what the flower people say" vibe. I will likely never listen again, but get how the Doors were influenced. Just not my jam.

Only liked 3 songs. It was good, nothing special. The album if anything gave me a chuckle. That's about all I can say

Just found it boring.

It started off really well. I liked the first track, but it all went downhill from there. I was just waiting for it to end.

Alone Again Or is an incredible song and I love it so much. The rest of the album was fine.

Kinda obvious why it failed when first released. A couple of good tracks and a pile of garbage.

Not great to be honest. Pretty boring

‘67 was the Summer of Love, right? So, with that in mind, I was looking forward to writing a review about the irony that I had never heard of this band before. But after listening to this, I found them completely undistinguishable from any of a dozen other “pop folk“ bands from that era. Such a wasted opportunity.

I know what is sophisticated, and what is well produced, and then music critics go and rate an album like this 37th best ever. What?? While the arrangement can be well done, like on “Live and Let Live” (easily the best song on the album), the singing and the lyrics can also be a disaster, like on “andmoreagain.” Even the Wrecking Crew couldn’t fix what ailed this album.

might be good?

I really do not Love. I dunno man, I was just trying to be clever. I mean, it's o... k... Owes a lot to the production, which is maybe trying a little too hard to be the Beatles or something? Songwriting is stilted more than organic, forced. Just watched a live version of Arthur Lee doing \"Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale\" and the band he was with gave it the juice it needs, which it DOES NOT have on this album, none of the songs really do. With the possible exception of \"Live and Let Live.\" The lyrics on this leave me cold but I appreciate the effort. I've never heard this before, is a bit cynical inm the middle of the whole Flower Power movement. Baroque Pop and psych, leans into a folky space that collides with the songwriting a bit. By that I mean the lyrics have a more "pop" style, repetitive words or phrases, a verse/chorus/verse structure. Simon and Garfunkel use the pop formula to great effect by integrating folky sounds and vocal harmonies. These guys need to rock, I think. Interesting album and a unique band for sure. Sounds pretty dated. I'm sure I would have more affinity toward this if I was there at the time or understood the context better.

not really my thing

Some nice guitar work but not much of the album stands out to me. I can appreciate it though. It does have that classic sound to it. There are some songs that I'd give another go. Highlights: Alone Again Or Bummer In The Summer

For some reason my original review has messed up once again, this time my saved review was what I had written for Guero, I will try to summarize my thoughts once again I thought this album was going to have something going for it at the start as the first few songs (particularly the first track) were very nice, the album quickly meanders into very plain, almost timid sounding music I am not sure of what the bands usual sound is but this album felt like the equivalent of someone coming on stage to give a big 'rah rah' speech after they had only come up with their opening hook.

another british rock album, another album i can't listen to. i really can't be bothered even writing a full review for this one, i can already see the rats reviews. first song is good, rest is boring, bland and blends together (this is also my opinon). 4/5 from byron, no music is bad music.

Narcolepsy rock for the silent generstion and boomers. The first track is good but the Damned do a MUCH better cover so please go and listen to that. Great as a sleeping aid/if you need to pacify a geriatric.

I didn’t Love this and found a lot of it downright ugly. Nope.

Meh. 60s Psychedelia. The first four songs are okay. The opening track with it's badass horn section was great. Has some good instrumentation especially the strings. The melodies are unique too. But the songs feel very weak and at times musically bland and whiny and annoying.

Love's Forever Changes lands with a beautiful thud. The melodies are undeniably catchy, and the use of strings and horns adds a touch of sophistication. "Alone Again Or" is a standout, with its melancholic mariachi horns, but overall, the album feels disjointed. The shift from their earlier garage rock to this orchestrated psych-folk is jarring. The laid-back pace might put some listeners to sleep, especially with an album so thematically downbeat. Arthur Lee's lyrics, while introspective, often veer into cryptic territory, leaving the listener wanting more clarity. Forever Changes might be a critical darling, but for casual listeners, it's a slow slog through some beautiful but ultimately unfulfilled ideas. There are moments of brilliance, but they're overshadowed by a lack of cohesion and a general sense of malaise.

Parodically annoying

One or two all timers but the rest is a fucking slog

Song 1 - tier 1 banger, I've heard it before in a movie, I can't remember which one, however it is so cinematic it belongs in the movies. "Here we go, I'm in for a good album" I thought to myself. Songs 2 - 11... "Damn..." It's hippy crap, I don't get it, it makes me angry, although the American hippy stuff is substantially better than the UK stuff. 2 stars as I loved "Alone Again Or", but the rest is shit.

Didn’t stick with me unfortunately

Great another 2!

These are just the inane ramblings of a bunch of fancy lads. It would be one thing if it were compelling lyrics or revolutionary song writing with a unique sound, but this really just gets lost in the noise of 60s psychedelic rock. This has all the makings of an album that nobody liked at the time that got retconned into significance by riding the wave of musicians much better than themselves.

Pretty basic 60 rock/pop. I aside from 'A House is Not a Motel' I did not care for it much.

✅ yup, it's from the 60's. free love!

a lot of love. Ok not great

Listenable enough in points but pretty dull

"The news today will be the movies of tomorrow." That's the best line on this album.

I get it - it’s melancholy flower power, it’s melodic 60s mastery, it’s alternative when alternative wasn’t a thing. I just don’t feel it in my grunions. It’s not bad; it’s just not leaving an impression. It’s meh. I’ll give it a charity star so that it’s separated from Limp Bizkit.

Really didn't dig this. Hippy dippy in a bad way.

This was just okay - heard parts and pieces of other songs I like more. 2/5

Not sure how to feel about this album. It's a shame that (at least to me), everything from the late 60s just sounds like knock-off Beatles. Which unfortunately includes this album. I will give props to the lyrics, very interesting and descriptive (to a fault in some songs). Top tracks: Alone Again Or, You Set the Scene

Very mistrel ish. Psychedelic folky. 2/5

Another relatively mediocre 60s, rock album. It’s not bad, but fairly forgettable for me. Super generic band name doesn’t help their legacy.

This album reminded me of the Beatles if the Beatles were dull and had one sound. The track titles were very enjoyable. Favourite track: The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything.

2.5 Glad to see some Love representation on this list. An underrated band of this era for sure, and they wrote one of my fave songs ever (not on this album tho). I’ve heard Alone Again Or covered by other bands, I didn’t know it was by them! This album starts really strongly but I get bored in the later half. I don’t think this is their strongest showing, but also, a lot of bands simply weren’t thinking about making cohesive albums at this point. I like Love, though!

Repeated songs right?! Pretty good tho but nothing worth revisiting perhaps

Musically and arrangement-wise this is a remarkable album. Good, folk-oriented rock. For me the lyrics are very unremarkable and bordering on pretentious. Some vague disaffected youth stuff but not much in the way of storytelling, just some vague sketches and a few interesting turns of phrase that don't really do it for me. Standout is Bummer in the Summer.

Forgotten as soon as it was gone

60s psychedelic, similar to the doors. Bit hit & miss

Psych-pop. Nope.

Started off in a pleasing fashion and I liked the ones with the trumpets. Overall though, a bit weedy-sounding and Not Very Good.

Very reminiscent of its time, pleasant enough but I didn’t really engage with it. The guitar made me want to go and listen to Nick Drake. So I did.

Dated, slow. 1st track is well known but too much flower power for my taste

Not really for me.

Y'avait de quoi mais ça m'a pas allumé plus que ça.

Nothing wrong with it, but nothing that stands out either. Just sort of exists.

Not for me.

Unclear if this is wankery or frippery or some combination of both. It's technically sound but it's not really engaging or entertaining for the most part.

i don't understand what makes love's forever changes worthy of being on this list. it's pleasant enough and is very reminiscent of the sixties. folk, psychedelic, pop. but i'm left unenthused and bored. what was done on this album that others weren't doing? i'll stop being a curmudgeon for a moment. i found some musical aspects interesting--and lyrics unusual. the opening lyrics of "live and let live" ("oh, the snot has caked against my pants, it has turned into crystal") in particular struck me.

Nothing really stuck me as special about this album. It was fine, probably wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to again. Highlights: A House is not a Hotel.

Very calm not terrible. I could jam to this its like hippy campfire music you know. 2.9/5

I have no meaningful input

Meh...

No me convence.

Mello proto-psychedelic tunes form the mid-60s.

Varken bu eller bä, stark 2a!

Relatively Unremarkable. To my untrained ear, there's several half baked Revolver songs here. There are a couple of songs that might stand out on a different album but they end up held down by the rest of the entries. Most positive attribute overall is the instrumentation and arrangements on a couple tracks. Underwhelming entry overall.

Very generic 60s music. Not really that memorable to me. Almost the same type of voice, guitar and brass in every song.

It as fine, but I dunno, felt like in one ear and out the other pretty instantly. 2.5/5

I know this is considered a classic album, but I just couldn’t get into it.

This album was fine. The instrumentation was very well done, bonus points for horns. Why don’t more bands have horns? The songs were kind of meandering, they didn’t really go anywhere. They just kept going.

Hippy shit

Some forgettable psych-rock album. Not bad, not outstanding.

Will need to revisit at some point.

Første halvdel var ok godt akustisk men resten blev dårligere

I actually really enjoyed this album, I put it on in the background while I was playing some video games, not really expecting to be the biggest fan of it, being some kind of early classic rock, but yeah I loved it. Honestly, the best song for me was the opening track.. 'Alone Again Or' it had such a great sound to it.. very egyptian almost.. Other than that, I didn't like obsess about any of the other songs on this thing but I did enjoy it.. it would bea great album to have a vinyl and throw on while I'm cleaning my house or something.. I'll probably pick it up someday for that exact reason. Overall: 2.4/5

A pleasant, if not forgettable, 60s rock record. Just like a lot of the albums on this list it seems.

Fine but very generic. Like a Who album but without the bangers to carry it.

There is too much of this sort of thing on here

Wide range of acoustic and rhythm Sounds. Vocally good, nothing jumped out as profound or incredible. Seemed ahead of its time for sure.

Vond niet heel Nice, paar saaie nummers

I was hoping to like this one. It’s fine. Some of these lyrics are pretty terrible though: “Oh, the snot has caked against my pants. It has turned into crystal.” Wow, deep stuff!

Going to disagree with the consensus on this album and go that yes Alone Again Or is a tune, but it's pretty standard late sixties a bit psychedelic a bit folky pop/rock.

Yesterday I got Joni Mitchell. So this is a little disappointing. It’s not bad, but nothing that hasn’t been done better. Some of the chord progressions are very far fetched. Not essential if you ask me. Favorite song: you set the scene.

Highlights: "Maybe the People Are the Times...," "Old Man," "The Good Humor Man" A weird amalgamation of psych and the studio pop and soul that came before it, a Jefferson Airplane with different strengths but many more weaknesses. The acoustic guitarwork can be pleasant, and the second half has better vocal delivery, but the first half had some really abysmal singing made worse by technically incompetent lyricism -- sometimes total disregard for meter, like they were written without hearing the music and shoehorned in. All throughout, there are issues with too many unsatisfying left turns repeated too many times. Comes across like a studio piggyback on the nascent Laurel Canyon scene, but you'd expect a band from LA to at least have its act together as musicians.

This was some goofy shit. Sounded like Pretty. Odd. era Panic! (complimentary) mixed with Laszlo and Nadja’s music from What We Do In the Shadows (derogatory). I feel like they should’ve just let this man sing about wizards from olden times, there’s no way he wasn’t yearning to sing about wizards from olden times.

Nothing stands out here, nothing is memorable, listened to it once and I doubt I’ll come back to it again

Based on the reviews, I expected this to instantly be a new favorite for me but honestly I was bored listening to this album. I’m also not sure where the “psychedelic” part came in to play…

Pink Floyd meets Simon & Garfunkel

Feels like 60s/ 70s generic cosplay music

Sounds like just about every other album released in 1967. Meh.

Really not my type of music, too much love and peace and understanding makes me nervous.

Couldn't get through this album

Too 60s for my taste.

actual instrumentation is good but the lyrics/vocals don't do much for me. probably would have been better if neil young had actually produced it lol! i think the sound is just a little too much of a beatles knockoff for me, which i knew a lot of other british groups at the time were doing too. but still.

Didn't enjoy this - sounded like a forerunner to stuff I do like (most obviously Genesis) but it was a bit too twee and nonsensical for my liking. Musically not as interesting as you'd want for an absurdist album like this. 2/5.

This was fine.

This album was fine, I really liked the instrumental but nothing really stuck out as a favorite song to me.

Parecchio noioso

Wouldn’t need to listen to this regularly. It could be because this kind of pop was never my thing but it just sounds like the soundtrack for a forgettable 60s youth movie made in 2015 to be nostalgic.

Not bad, nice to have on in the background on the train to work. The whimsical 60s rock with horn and string sections is interesting but that's not my bag, baby. Favourite track was the first one on the album, bit dull after that.

I heard a Beatles resemblance… I’m not sure which part but it sounded like then a lot. The album wasn’t necessarily boring but I couldn’t listen to the voice for much longer. It had a peacefulness to it and was gentle, I just couldn’t listen forever.

This is a nice, inoffensive record, the orchestral flourishes add a little something to the otherwise unremarkable acoustic guitar songs. 2 / 5 stars.

First few songs were very interesting, but they decided that the rest of the album had to be boring to compensate.

It has moments. I bought it years ago after being told it was such a classic. I didn't really like it then. Enjoyed it a bit more now but still not one I rate hugely.

Real earnest hippie dippy music from the late 60s. Not bad, but definitely naive and full of unrealized hope.

Kinda boring, nothing special

The first two songs were ok, but I really did not enjoy the rest.

Great acoustic guitars. Average Vocals.

Seems like it has some flamenco influence, as well as being coated in strings. Nice enough when it's on, but not sure it's gonna be anything that sticks with me. Favorite tracks: "You Set the Scene", "A House Is Not a Motel"

Meh. Very 70s, would not listen again

It’s a whatever album. Not something that I’ll want to relisten to. I don’t know what it was about this album that just didn’t work but I was mostly bored throughout.

Love - a mostly forgotten psychedelic band from the sixties that most people never heard of. They sound like a beatnik and a hippie playing music at a Renaissance fair. I discovered them myself back in the '80s when I realized the Hooters song "She Comes In Colors" was a cover of a Love song. I like a number of the elements in their music but most of their songs don't have a hook and easily forgettable. Complex melodies and lyrics that you rarely find yourself singing along ... self-indulgent for the artist and the listener just has to wait until they're finished. I played "Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale" and even though it was fun to play, our guitarist thought it rambled on and hedonistic....the guitarist, that's right, the guitarist. I do think this band is worth remembering and studying but not necessary for the casual listener to be forced to listen an entire album in one sitting. I want to like them more but I've already forgotten every song and couldn't name one (except the one I played) to even request a revisit. Lots of line but no hook will catch zero fish.

Trippy dippy 1960s psychedelia. Probably music being played in places other than my imagined barbecue in Laurel Canyon. Reminds me of other bands, but I can’t quite think who off the top of my head. Maybe the Moody Blues (days of future passed). Maybe the Doors, Beatles? Some lyrics that struck me: ‘A house is not a motel’ …and the water’s turned to blood…go turn on your tub and it’s mixed with mud ‘The daily planet’ … plastic Nancy she ‘s so fancy… ‘Live and let live’ …The snot has caked against my pants. Summer in the summer is different than the other songs ‘You Set the Scene’. …There’s a chicken in my nest and she won’t lay until I’ve given her my best. The next song that Spotify chose to play after this album was from the Beatles’ album Revolver. Hmmm? The only song that that I definitely had heard before was the first one, ‘Alone Again Or’ but the rest of the album was both really familiar and foreign at the same time. I wholly enjoyed listening to this. Once.

A very psychedelic experience. Like something out of an Austin Powers movie. Every track has the same feel and they all sound alike. Didn't care for it, but I made it through to the end. Rating: 2/5 Favorite Track: Bummer in the Summer

Back half of this album is the best part

Overrated as fuck.
