I had never listened to a Kanye West album before. I really only knew him as the egotistical buffoon who married a Kardashian. I never saw the appeal. But I get it now. This is a fantastic album. I still don't like Kanye as a person, but I can't deny his talent.
I liked this for the most part. I had no idea what I was going into with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Very "Jam" like without sounding exactly like The Jam. I really enjoyed this. Moon On Your Pyjamas was a really good song.
90% terrible noise. \"50ft Queenie\" is a highlight and one I'll likely listen to again. This is literally the only good track.
Music is smooth and buttery, vocals are rough and gravely. Somehow they fit together nicely. I liked this, but doubt I'll re-visit very often.
Not really my thing, but it was good. King Kunta was my favorite song.
Never been a huge fan of Dylan's voice, but this one wasn't bad. My favorite song was Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, which is also the longest track on the album. I enjoyed this album one a lot.
Awful... just awful. It was so hard to pick a favorite on this one... Most of the songs have been in constant radio rotation since 1999, but I tried listening to the rest with an open mind. I ended up just picking the shortest song as my favorite. I really didn't like this album.
I really wanted to like this. But... no, I didn't. I really tried because I like other Talking Heads stuff, but this just wasn't good. A few bright spots, but the rest was just a bunch of weird stuff that didn't sound good.
This album is definitely 1994. The music is fine but the vocals are borderline unlistenable in some songs. This album gets a solid \"meh\". A little bit good, some pretty bad, mostly very mediocre.
Umm... No. This was weird and not good weird. I understand why these guys never made it. I mean, electric jug? What???
Umm... No. This was weird and not good weird. I understand why these guys never made it. I mean, electric jug? What???
Fun album. The music was good but the songs all sounded the same. I liked it overall.
It was okay. Not a huge fan of live Dylan. I actually liked side 1 (all solo acoustic) more than the electric stuff.
Music gets 4 stars, Morrissey's whiney vocals get 2 stars. Averages to a 3 star album.
Just some rock n roll. Nothing wrong with that. Less metal than I was expecting. I wasn't familiar with their super early stuff. Lots of fun!
I've never been a huge fan of electronic music, but I really liked this album. Some of the songs went on a bit too long, but I enjoyed it for the most part.
This sounds like a nice bridge between early 90's fun rap and mid 90's gangsta rap. I liked it.
It was fine, I guess. I've really liked Depeche Mode very much. This was exactly what I thought it would be.
I might be too old for this now. It just gave me a headache. The music is good for what it is, I guess. Just not my thing.
I had no idea what to expect going into this. It was... fine. Nothing spectacular or mind blowing.
I had no idea what to expect here. I've never heard of this artist and didn't know what kind of music to expect or even whether or not Devendra Banhart was a man or woman. Turns out it's a male folk singer. Not bad, not spectacular.
Pretty decent. Didn't blow me away or anything, but I liked it.
I forgot how much I enjoy The Smashing Pumpkins. Great album!
I tried... I really did. But I don't like this stuff. EDM music is terrible and just gave me a headache.
I liked this for the most part. I had no idea what I was going into with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Artists like this need to shorten their songs. This was almost 2 hours and 19 songs. Each song was the same refrain repeated over and over again. I mean musically it's good, but so goddamn repetitive. Cut 'em in half or write some fucking lyrics, for God's sake!
It's not just music from Pixar movies! This was actually very good. Not what I was expecting at all.
I liked it. I obviously recognized a few of the songs, but the ones I didn't know were really good as well.
Garbage. Just garbage. This was awful. I'll take 8 straight hours of Californication over 1 re-listen of this French crap.
Every song on this album was good, some of them pretty great, with one notable exception: "Mother" is God awful.
I liked some of it and didn't hate any of it. If I could rate 3.5 I would... it's not quite 4 stars though.
Not great. That one song that everyone knows is the best one, and I don't really like that one either.
43 tracks, all less than 3 minutes long. Most were actually very enjoyable and the bad ones were over quickly. I enjoyed this.
This was pretty okay. Very Bowie-esque in parts, which makes sense since he produced it. I liked a few songs.
I was hoping I would like this more than I did. It wasn't terrible, but not really great either.
It was okay. Some good songs, but nothing spectacular.
It's really tough to pick a favorite song with instrumental jazz... The 5 songs on here just kind of blend together into one 42 minute song. I'm not saying it's bad... but just tough to find one that stands out. All in all, I liked it.
Bo-ring. I guess Sinatra is a legend and all that, but I'm not a fan...
I mean, it's a great album. Not my favorite Beatles album, but a great album.
More instrumental jazz. I enjoyed it, but I couldn't tell the difference between this, Miles Davis, or Thelonius Monk.
This definitely isn't my thing. I mean I guess it's okay for what it is, but I still didn't like it.
I never gave Oasis a chance in the 90s. This was better than I was expecting. Solid 4.
The first and last songs are great! Everything else is just okay. I guess it's enough to earn 4 stars.
This was okay. I liked the last LCD album a little better, but this wasn't bad.
I want to compare this to other Elvis Costello albums, and it's far from my favorite. But it's a great album overall.
I liked this. Some really good songs on here. I think I might dig into a bit more Ryan Adams.
I didn't like this. It sounded interesting, but it was noise. I would have been happy to die without hearing this album.
I was expecting to like this a lot more. There were some good songs, but overall it was just okay.
I don't like electronic music, but this is one of the better ones I've heard. The songs are way too long, but some are fun.
It was alright. Seemed pretty typical late 80s, early 90s rap from what I remember.
This is a great album. So much anger, but the music is just amazing.
Very shoe-gazey. Loud instruments, low vocals. In context, this album probably influenced a lot of later music. In present day it's just mediocre.
This was also weird, but not in a good way. Not a fan.
The first song was great but it went downhill pretty quickly. I wasn't a huge fan.
Not very great. Some highlights, but for the most part I did not enjoy this.
Loved this! Just some rock n roll music. Great stuff.
I liked the 1st half but the last 4 songs were all weird instrumentals. I wasn't a huge fan of those.
This album just confirms that Lennon was the talented one.
I was only familiar with the radio tracks. This was pretty good. I like her vocals.
I didn't like this, but it was interesting. Metal but mixed with some tribal/latin kind of beats.
There's some good stuff on here, but lots of not so great stuff. 3/5.
I don't like classic Springsteen, so I really didn't enjoy his more recent stuff. I tried to give it a chance, but no... I just didn't like it.
First off, I love the album name. Second, this is right up my alley. Very punkish and fun. I liked this.
Great 90s rock. Brimful of Asha is a great song.
Has some good songs, but then some are pretty awful. So a typical Pixies album, I guess. 3/5
Mellow and kinda boring. Not terrible, but I doubt I'll listen again.
I enjoyed this. It's kind of surprising that this band wasn't more popular than they were. They were kind of one hit wonders with that "Time of the Season" song. And that's far from the best one on this album. 4/5
Can't wait to go back to the Chicken Shack. I liked this a lot. 4/5
Not bad, but kind of boring. Musically it's pretty good though. 3/5
I know this is an iconic album and all, but I just can't get into Springsteen. There were some good songs, but overall this was just okay.
2nd Kate Bush album in 3 days. This was much better than The Dreaming, but that's not saying much since I absolutely abhorred The Dreaming. So this was a breath of fresh air when it comes to Kate Bush albums. Still not my cup of tea, but at least it was listenable.
Pretty good. I apparently knew more Donovan songs than I thought. Very folky and mellow.
Some good stuff on here, but a few of the songs were almost laughably bad. Borderline silly sounding.
I loved this album. Great stuff. Right in my wheelhouse
Some great songs on here, but the Mule Skinner Blues made my ears bleed. It was terrible, but the rest was good.
Too short! 22 minutes?? Not enough shaking going on.
I'm not a fan of 23 minute songs. These songs were way too long. BUT they were still good. Some of the bluesy riffs were quite enjoyable. They were just too long.
Nothing like an afternoon grooving to the smooth sounds of Curtis Mayfield.
I never wanted to give this album a chance in the 90s because I hated the radio hits. But I listened with an open mind and it turns out I like a few of these. Overall a mediocre album in my opinion, but definitely better than I was expecting based on my previous thoughts about Oasis.
Mellow vibes. Not bad, but not the Frank that I was expecting
Can't really go wrong with Elvis Costello, can you? This is pretty great. A little bit grittier than some of his other stuff. I really like this album.
I don't like house music or whatever this is. Not my bag. There were one or two songs that I liked, but for the most part this was a tough listen.
I was expecting a little bit heavier than this. I did like it, but would have rather had a bit more power behind it.
Smooth and jazzy. I liked it, but none of the songs really stood out.
Musically this reminded me a lot of The Doors. Except for the singer, who wasn't great. The music is good though for the most part.
Never heard of these guys. I enjoyed it for the most part. Very 80s with a hint of new wave.
The best part of this album was it was the 3rd and final Kate Bush album on this list. That means I don't have to listen to more Kate Bush.
Not a fan of Neil Young's voice. I thought it was just bad as an old aging rocker, but it looks like it was bad in 1972 as well. Musically it was okay, but I can't see past the whiney vocals.
I had never listened to a Kanye West album before. I really only knew him as the egotistical buffoon who married a Kardashian. I never saw the appeal. But I get it now. This is a fantastic album. I still don't like Kanye as a person, but I can't deny his talent.
Pre-Grunge 90s Alt! There were definitely some good songs on here. I think it would be a pretty great break-up album, but hopefully I won't have to test that theory haha
The songs were okay but far too long. Cut about a minute or so from each one and I might actually like this album.
A bit more rockin' Queen than A Night at the Opera. This is a great, fun album
I was looking forward to some Velvet Underground as I wasn't very familiar going in. This was good! I especially liked Pale Blue Eyes and That's The Story of My Life
This definitely doesn't sound like a Beach Boys record. I liked this a lot. Highlights were Pacific Ocean Blues and What's Wrong
The first song on this kinda rocks, but the rest left me wanting... This is was mediocre rock at best.
Nope. Not a fan. Some of the music kind of rocks, but the vocals are just awful.
This is very 80s. Like the most 80s thing imaginable. I liked it though. The Sound of The Crowd and I Am The Law are highlights.
This album was 50/50 for me. 50% great songs and 50% not so good. The good ones were really enjoyable though. And their cover of Just Like Heaven was pretty great.
I remember Waterfalls when this came out, but it was never really my thing at the time. This was okay overall.
Classic metal... I enjoyed this for the most part. The title track is my favorite
Very "Jam" like without sounding exactly like The Jam. I really enjoyed this. Moon On Your Pyjamas was a really good song.
This was okay. I liked a few of the songs. Solid 3 stars
Short, fairly generic. Maybe this is on the list for historical reasons? I mean it was okay, but nothing spectacular.
This was very odd, but I loved it. Only really familiar with the poppy "We Can't Dance" or "Invisible Touch" type Genesis. I was definitely not prepared for a psychedelic romp through the English countryside. It was a well-appreciated detour!
Never been much of a fan of Van's voice. It's a tad shrill for my tastes. But this was a decent album.
Overall this would get a 2.5 if Super Bird wasn't such a great song. That knocked it up at least 1/2 point to 3 stars.
I like reggae, but this is bad reggae. I did not enjoy this album at all...
This was really good. Not a bad song on here. Consider me a Mann Fann.
Great cover of Summertime Blues and great versions of some Who songs. I liked this one
This is half good and half just weird. Not good weird either. Just weirdness for the sake of being weird.
I was surprised to see 2 albums from Hole on this list. I never though Hole was that great of a band (still don't) and I don't think they made much of an impact on music. But there are so legitimately good songs on here...
yeeaaaaaahhh boyyyyyy!!! this was great. Angry rap with a message. Great album
This is good, but I didn't really like it... kinda boring. But I can definitely appreciate it. The singer's voice wasn't the best. This is a tough one to rate...
My college roommates used to get high and listen to this album nonstop. I hated it at the time. So I came into this one with a bit of a pre-conceived opinion, but I really tried to give this a chance. I know this is everyone's favorite album, but I just don't get it. There are definitely some good songs on here, but so much filler...
Interesting stuff. I had no idea what this was going into it. Very nice vibes.
sort of a punky kind of Doorsy kind of thing? Very hard to describe. That doesn't mean it's bad... but doesn't necessarily mean it's good. There were a few good songs on here, but also a few stinkers. And it's tough when there's only 9 songs on the album and one of them is almost 20 minutes long.
This was different. I wasn't a huge fan, but it's good for what it is.
I enjoyed this more than I was expecting. Mostly slower, jazzy instrumental stuff, but After Eight kinda rocks.
This a quintessential metal album that everybody needs to hear. Great stuff from start to finish.
What even is this? This is terrible. Boring and repetitious. I'll never listen to this on purpose again.
Some beautiful music on here. I really enjoyed Fight Test, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Are you a Hypnotist, and Do You Realize. But all of the tracks on here were great.
I was not at all familiar with this band. It's good stuff. Reminds me of classic Aerosmith, but a lot groovier. I'm going to dig into this band a little bit more. I like what I've heard.
What can you say? I have listened to this album literally hundreds of times in my life and I can guarantee that I'll listen to it more. Classic hard rock album. One of the best.
This is a great album! BOB is one of my all time favorite rap songs. Not a fan of the Interlude tracks.
This was okay. There were some good songs, but they were all so long... If every song was capped at 4 minutes this would be a really good album.
Proto-Grunge... sort of a transition album from punk to grunge. Some fun songs, but also some noise.
It was a funky-ass Friday. This had some great versions of songs like Sunshine Go Away Today and Summer Breeze.
I was not in the mood for industrial metal when this popped up on my list. However... this was really good.
After being quite disappointed with this album after it came out, it has really grown on me quite a bit. This album is fantastic.
So incredibly 90s... I loved this for purely nostalgic reasons. Queen Latifah can sure rock a rhyme though.
Interesting. I was definitely not familiar going into this one, but I liked most of it.
It's not my #1 Elvis Costello album, but it's definitely up there!
This album has my all time favorite Elvis song (Suspicious Minds) so it gets an extra star just for that. The rest of it is exactly what you'd expect... which definitely isn't bad.
The title track is not very funky and is way too long. Tracks 2-6 are pretty good with Super Stupid being my favorite. Track 7, Wars of Armageddon is wayy too long and is not good. Especially when you get to the fart sounds around 8 minutes in. Bonus tracks are not bad with the exception of the \"Maggot Brain Alternate Mix\", which is somehow worse than the original. I had high hopes for this album, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting.
Normally not a fan of Neil Young's voice, but this was much less whiney and nasally than I was expecting. It was not bad.
The quintessential Bob Marley album. Some great songs on here
Look up rock n roll in the dictionary and this album appears. Just a great rock album.
This might be my favorite album of all times. I have listened to it literally hundreds of times. I can't give this anything less than 5/5
This was great! My first Missy Elliot album. I liked it very much
Mixed feelings on this one. Musically very impressive and some very good lyrics, but overall kind of boring.
Wow... This was just.... awful. Terrible. Why is this album on this list? Why must anybody hear this album ever? This album needs to die and be buried so nobody has to suffer through hearing it ever again. I need to sue The Young Gods for permanent brain damage because it will take a long time to forget this. I would give this negative stars if I could. What I'm saying is that I did not care for this.
7:30 into track #1... why am I listening to them tune their guitar? Otherwise, this is pretty good. I've never been a huge Rush fan, but I can't deny their talent.
This is okay. It's definitely not as good as Crooked Rain, but then few albums are...
I like Metallica, but I don't think I like Metallica + an orchestra. It's okay, but I'd rather listen to these songs with just the band
I liked this one. More so than The Wall. Probably an unpopular opinion.
Yeah, this was pretty good. Totally not familiar with these guys, but it sounds like I should be.
I was ready to give up on this one during the 1st song. Track #1 is horrible. But the rest were pretty okay.
Not bad. Nothing too exciting on here though.
This started off strong, but very quickly dropped in quality.
This was okay. Pretty generic sounding, but I've never been much of a Neil Young fan.
YEEEEAAAHHH BOYYYYY!! This one took me back. This isn't my favorite PE album, but it's a really good listen.
I didn't like Cypress Hill is the 90s and still don't like them.
This was kind of fun. It dragged on a bit, but some of those grooves were quite funky.
Unfortunately most of this album was not available on Spotify. I found it all on YouTube. It was pretty good.
While listening I was thinking "This has a very Arctic Monkeys type of feel to it". Then I realized why. Good stuff!
I really, really, really enjoyed this. Not being at all familiar with the artist, I went into this completely blind. What a fantastic album! This has definitely been added to my rotation and I will be seeking out more from this artist.
Tom Waits... voice of an angel. I liked this, but his voice is so grating at times.
This was good overall. Some ups and downs. I was a big fan of "When the Shit Hits the Fan" and "Hungry for Love"
This wasn't available on Spotify, but I found all of the songs on YouTube. Overall this was okay. Folksy and Joni has a good voice. Nothing really grabbed me though.
Wondering if the singer ever feels embarrassed at some of the lyrics on this album. They remind me of a high school student trying to write deep poetry. Some of the lyrics in "Susan's House" were almost laughably bad. Musically, however, this is pretty great. Genre-flipping, sometimes grungy, sometimes shoe-gazey, sounds very of-its-time (which is good because 90s alt is my personal favorite)
I absolutely love this album. One of the all time great metal albums.
Not the Iggy Pop that I'm used to. This was much slower and less aggressive. I know Bowie produced it, but the album sounds like Iggy trying to do Bowie and it just doesn't work for me.
I enjoyed this for the most part.
This version of Fever is pretty terrible. Overall, not the best Elvis I've ever heard.
It was okay. Kind of boring. Harry Nilsson's version of Everybody's Talkin' is better, but Fred's is still a decent version.
This is the first Aerosmith album I remember and one of the first albums I bought with my own money. You would think that at the very least I would have liked this for nostalgia reasons.
Definitely not the "My Girl" Temptations. This was much different than I was expecting and much grittier.
I thought this album was great. I only knew the one radio hit (Connection) going into this, which I liked years ago. But little did I know that it was far from the best songs on this album. Pleasantly surprised at how great this one was. I'll definitely be listening again.
Some definite misses, but there were some good songs on here.
This was pretty great. The Kinks were very ahead of their time.
It's a cross between traditional Irish folk music and psychedelic rock. You'd think it would be an interesting combination that might sound pretty good. But boy, would you be wrong. This is awful.
Different than what I was expecting. I like Black Sabbath and I liked this album. But it was different.
The trio of Mic Contract, Mind Over Matter, and New Jack Hustler is pretty great. Some of the rhymes are very of their time and sound a little ridiculous now, but this is a great album overall.
