1001 Albums Summary

Strong start! Live album #1, wonder how many of these there will be among the 1,001? Feels like the musicianship and performances captured here are at a higher level to be considered one of the all-time best recordings.

Classic album. Not something I listen to regularly, but every now and then these songs hit the mood just right.

RIP Ozzy

One of the greatest pieces of music ever created: written, performed, and produced. This is music that instantly changes or enhances my mood. It's relaxing, sexy, introspective, and always cool. Just like Miles.

YES! Amazing album by a musical genius. I listen to Thundercat maybe too much. But as a bass player, it's incredible to hear what he can do.

Love it - classic Texas blues

I am instantly transported to my Sophomore year of college, playing Streetfighter on Sega in dorm rooms while drinking bad light beer. Aside from the nostalgia, it's a great album, full of rage and disillusionment. ONe of my top 10 rock albums of all time.

Early college memories, Kristin's fave. A classic 90s album that is probably on par with Carole King's "Tapestry."

Odd, almost like a soundtrack to a strange, quirky movie. Small bursts of 70s rock fuzz every now and then, too. Not bad, but don’t think I’ll listen again.

GNR opened the door that Nirvana blew open, exposing glam rock as terrible music that is a huge waste of time. They may have started as a hair band, but quickly showed they were badasses with actual musical talent.

One of my favorite rap albums of all time, and my #1 of the Wu-Tang solo albums.

I need to give this more listens. Wilco has never been a fave, but too many great people love them to ignore, especially this album.

This is a sad attempt at relevance from an aging pop star. Hardly worth inclusion in this list.

One of the greatest albums of all time! Electronic anxiety at the beginning of a new millennium perfectly captured the sense of unease and trepidation then. With 9/11 and the Iraq war still to come, this album expertly explores the unknown and mysterious feeling going into a new era.
