1001 Albums Summary

Really like the raw noise-rock sound. Can see it's roots spreading to both grunge and shoegaze. Reminds me our early Hole and Smashing Pumpkins, but also Sin-é era Jeff Buckley.

Really well rounded and accomplished for this style of music. Perhaps not as catchy as some soul hits, but more substance too them.

Really varied album. Every song is different to the last. Prefer the slow Trip Hop tracks.

Half rock album, half art project. All excellent

One of those albums I always start of enjoying but it gets very samey and by the time I get to the end of the ironically named 9 minute 'Release' I'm begging for exactly that. Favourite track: Evenflow

Not my cup of tea but you can recognise it is a masterpiece of it's genre.

Another triumph of the Berlin era. You can very much hear the Bowie influences but it is lifted up by Iggy's unique vocals.

What is this doing in the list? By this point it was clear U2 had lost their unique voice and this is bog standard fayer.

Really surprising. Like a well performed score from an obscure soviet cartoon.

Not bad for hair metal. Stupid childish lyrics but the addition of synths makes the music interesting.

Brilliant. Probably the best Hip Hop album I've listened to.

Not bad. Better than the other Van Halen album on the list simply because it isn't so childish.

Ah this takes me back. Great in most places but is guilty of some filler. The songs that follow the style of rap with sung choruses seem to be the best.

Don't get how an album with only mild acclaim makes this list. It has a little more musical depth than a lot of country music, but is otherwise typical country fayre.

Great live rock performance, let down by a poor quality recording. The Beatlemania type screaming from the crowd is weird.

A step forward for rock but still heavily influenced by 60s harmonised guitar pop in places.

Such a step forward in one year from their debut it is incredible. Much more musical depth and their signature sound, at least for this early era, shines though.

All individual tracks are great, but due to its length and all the remixes, it gets repetitive in the end.
