Some tracks on this album are great with important themes, other tracks not so. But the relentless swearing and references to his genitals become numbing and meaningless, nothing more than a verbal tic. I am glad I have listened to it and can see why it is on the list, but it could have been so much more. Will I listen to any of it again? Unlikely. A strong 2.

When I first heard Sledgehammer in the 80s, ten year old me wasn't a fan, so when this came up I was interested to see how this album would land for me forty years later It was ok. It is fairly literate pop/rock music, verging on pretentious at times, but there was no edge or excitement. The 80s production sound doesn't help, but that is a fair representation of the times. Just scrapes a 3.
