9/10
Very lovely record, the production is so rich and has so many nice little touches that I appreciate.
8.5/10
Immediately clicked for me, Badlands is a very strong opener and Adam Raised a Cain keeps up the pace so well.
Most of the songs including a guitar solo was an unexpected but great decision.
8/10
I have to admit I probably missed a lot of details and I need another listen, but the songwriting is consistently great and I loved that opener a lot.
7/10
It's pretty good but honestly nothing here really grabbed my attention.
8.5/10
I really enjoyed the dark lyrics and how heavy the instrumentation feels. Pretty good vocals too.
6/10
Definitely not for me but it doesn't overstay it's welcome at least
8/10
Never listened to a U2 album before but I enjoyed this one a lot! Fav part was the instrumentation for sure.
4/10
I did not enjoy this one for the most part, there were a few highlights such as Sonic Attack but the majority of songs just felt like listening to someone play guitar without any major differences, it was a bit too unfocused for me.
Might change my mind on another listen.
7.5/10
Fun album! would listen again
9.5/10
Excellent production, surprised that I haven't listened to this album before.
8/10
Great punk record especially for a genre I dislike a lot, crazy that this is a debut album.
6/10
Pretty nice instrumental album but nothing spectacular, and it gets repetitive after a while.
8/10
Amy's vocals are really amazing here. Definitely a strong debut.
7/10
It's pretty alright, with some really good guitar moments.
8.5/10
Really good production and vocals all around, will definitely come back to it.
4/10
I'm not even trying to be a hater but I genuinely don't think you need to hear this album before you die.
There's nothing special about the production or the songwriting, and if we're gonna include an album on this list because it has a lot of bops this album doesn't even have enough of them.
6.5/10
It's pretty alright, I didn't find anything remarkable about it but it's good for easy listening in the background.
8/10
A solid folk album. First time I listen to Paul Simon, really enjoyed the variety in sounds used here.
8.5/10
I really liked how the album uses noise without ever feeling overwhelming, and the songwriting is amazing. I had a really good time listening to it.
9/10
This album just sounds like what an 80s synth pop album should sound like, it's dancey and doesn't take itself too seriously.
Marc's singing is so fun it makes me want to sing along 10 seconds into any song.
8/10
I normally don't listen to hard rock at all but this was a fun time. Favorite song is Jaime's Cryin'
8.5/10
An album made entirely from samples that still sounds this consistent is seriously impressive. I just wish it was a bit shorter.
7/10
It's good folk music I guess, it's just that nothing here really stood out on a first listen.
8/10
Pretty fun album with a variety of sounds and samples. Favorite song is Hell Yes.
7/10
A pretty fun pop punk album. I kinda wish they switched things up a bit, because even though the songs are short, they started getting a little samey.
Still enjoyable regardless.
8/10
Good album for easy listening. I give it 4 Djangos out of 5.
6/10
Maybe it's not for me but I didn't like it a lot. I just don't see this album doing anything interesting or new for an album released in 1980.
7.5/10
I like the songwriting and his singing but it gets a bit boring after a while.
8.5/10
A pleasant surprise from this list, full of fun beats that pushed the boundaries of house music. I can feel RnB influences in some of the tracks.
8.5/10
Very creative funk music with odd lyrics, awesome production.
8/10
While most mainstream Hip-Hop isn't my thing, I really enjoyed this album.
The production across these songs is so diverse and feels calm in a way that nicely contrasts with the rapping.
8/10
Pretty good album! I don't have much to say other than that I'm looking forward to listening to more from this band.
8/10
Waiter! waiter! more folk rock please!!
7/10
I think it's fine but nothing in it stands out to me.
I'd rather not give this album a rating seeing that the most impressive aspects of it are technical.
All I'm gonna say is that I really enjoy it. Blue Rondo and Take Five are really cool.
7/10
I thought it was a bit boring at first but it sort of grew on me halfway through. I love this brand of Baroque Pop but the singing style was not doing it for me.
8/10
My first time listening to Emmylou Harris and I love it! Really reminds me of Dolly Parton.
Maybe not a groundbreaking album but the vocals are amazing and the instruments were nice and kept it fresh.
9/10
Feels experimental without being overwhelming. I love how this album has several different sounds while staying thematically consistent.
8/10
I like this jazzier version of Joni Mitchell's music, and the songwriting is great as usual.
8.5/10
I really enjoyed the beats on this, I found it more enjoyable during the less serious parts but it's a really good album overall.
8/10
Not the biggest fan of live albums but this is definitely one of the better ones I listened to
8/10
Really good dance music, Rockafeller Skank is insane. Maybe should've been kept a bit shorter.
8/10
Not gonna lie this might be my least favorite of her albums, but it's an excellent debut. Really pleasant piano playing, but the album starts losing momentum near the end.
7.5/10
I really like Elliott Smith's songwriting style and the sad mood comes across well with the production, I just wish his singing was a bit more interesting.
8/10
Really enjoyable but I kinda wish it went all the way with the funkiness.
8.5/10
This is my first time listening to Beth Orton and I'm really loving it. Her vocals really shine over the simple quiet instrumentals, especially the last few songs.
Also I have to mention the beautiful singing on Pass In Time (with guest vocals by Terry Callier), definitely my favorite song on the album.
