1001 Albums Summary

I understand every bit of why this album is as big and popular as it is. Well maybe not every bit but the broad point. It's really just not for me, too much of Waters theatrics that just don't interest me. When it's good it's outstanding but those parts I can attribute more to the band and Gilmour than just Waters doing his thing.

A really slow start with unmemorable songs, it started picking up for me at Armistice Day which has some great guitar work. Me and Julio is a great track and the album seems to keep that momentem for the most part to close out. There are definitely some songs to revisit but as a whole I wasn't huge on it.

Great album, Kraftwerk does Kraftwerky things that they know how to do so well.

Very of its time. Repetitive with little to no payoff, awful lyrics, just plain boring overall. Nothing really happens in the album for the majority and then when things do happen, I'm helplessly waiting for those things to be over. Maybe it doesn't hit as well as it would have 20 years later? I had no interest in them back then either though so I think it's just not for me and that's Okay.

Production and songs were great, definitely an album to revisit.

It was what I was expecting but also better than I was expecting. The album builds momentum, it was a fun weekend listen.

Expertly put together, everything just works so well together. Still relevant nearly 50 years later.

Production was great, band was great, songs were... okay. I can see why it's on this list but the songs didn't really do it for me. Great work by them though.

There is a LOT going on in this music. I had never heard of this before today, it's obviously very well crafted but can be very overwhelming at times (most times). Someone buy the mixers/engineers a drink because despite sheer amount of things happening at any given moment it sounds crisp and you can seperate the instruments. I'm glad I listened, I probably won't be revisiting this any time soon.

I loved everything about this, I listened through several times and this album will have a permanent home in my collection.

This one didn't really do much for me, I'll have to come back to it another time.

It was well done, a more talented band then I ever gave them credit for. I just wasn't a fan of the songs personally so it didn't really hit for me.

Not my style. Rating is purely personal, this does zero for me.

I enjoyed it. First half the album was fantastic, Electric Funeral is just awful and seemed to be the turning point of me not enjoying the album as much. I enjoyed the rest of the songs, they just weren't on par with the first half for me.

Too long.

Insanely talented group of musicians, this one didn't do anything for me though. I see why it's loved but I don't think I'll be revisiting again any time soon.

Fun songs, band and production were great. Probably something more for the background than to sit down and listen to.

Great album from start to finish, not a lot to complain about here.

This album has some amazing songs with some very generic Nirvana sounding songs mixed in, I liked it.

Maybe a little bit sparse for my taste.

Boring... very boring.

Had it's ups and downs, overall a fun album and worth listening to at least once.

Really well constructed and performed. A great album to listen to once, but likely only once.

This is super cheesy. Punk band wants to be hair metal or hair metal wants to be punk? The good news is if you like one song you'll like the whole thing since it all sounds exactly the same. I believe they achieved what they were going for, it's crisp sounding, band is talented, my ears hate it.

An absolute masterpiece.

I think this album would probably have been great if you had been there in 1966. In 2026 it doesn't quite hit the same, it sounds the way it was, they were trying to figure this whole thing out. Thanks for lending a hand in figuring things out but I'll never listen this again.

The Doors suck.

It sounds like Prince took every cutting edge piece of studio technology and packaged it up into this album. Maybe you had to grow up with this music to appreciate it? The whole thing has the feel of a Fruity Loops sample song. It had a few moments but as always, I don't understand the fuss about Prince.

Sometimes I stop and think "why are you singing like that" but it passes. Really well put together, great songs, enjoyable album.

I'm far too old for this. Well done and dumb. It's not that it's bad, I just don't like it..

This is a great album for someone who has never listened to music before. It's accessible and literally anything you listen to after will be better than it.

It's not that it's bad it's just that I don't like it.

The drumming was ok sometimes.

No redeeming qualities.

First half was great, second half not so much.

No bad songs.

Good but dull.

Has a few great songs. The late 90s bedroom production sound is sometimes grating. Deducted an extra star because Moby is kind of cringe.

For the scale of John Lee Hookers prolific career I was expecting to have my mind blown by this album. Two songs in I was desperately ready for it to be over. This is just the most boring same old blues you've heard a billion times before. I generally can see why albums have made the list but this one escapes me. Obviously no disrespect to Mr Hooker but if this is the best of his output I will have to start actively avoiding other recordings from him. 1 star not because it's bad but because it's just the most frightfully boring thing I've ever listened to.

It could have been the same song 11 times and I wouldn't have noticed.

Too long.

If you like really really shitty music then this is just the album you've been looking for.

The chorus of the second song was kind of fun, it was a struggle to stay awake for the rest of the album. Boring generic mom music.

The beats were good but this didn't do much for me.

Music was great but the vocals were kind of cheesy throughout.

I went into this expecting the worst having grown up through this era and hearing all the hits on the radio. After listening all the way through it was much much worse than I expected. This is music for angry 13 year old boys who are angry and don't know why. I have never heard someone as whiny in recorded history than what I'm hearing from Fred Durst on this album.

Some of the greatest musicians to ever pick up their instruments.... and Anthony Keidis. As always I enjoy the music, it's fun and a pleasure to listen to such highly skilled musicians. Anthony ruins it with his terrible singing and lyrics.

Why does everything Paul Weller does sound so forced? It's like he was asked to make an album that adds all awful musical elements of the 80s together, if this was the case he nailed it.

Red Eyes is a fantastic song. That's my review of the album.

Shitty gimmick "band" with shitty music.

Not a fan of the vocals.

I admire the creativity but there's nothing about this that I personally enjoy.

Listening to this album is like listening to The Cure do a parody of themselves. They're talented, songs are good, musicianship is good, production is good. At the end of the day I just can't shake that it sounds like a bunch of goth kids being sad about being sad.

The Killers suck.

If this was half as long it could have gotten away with 2 stars but c'mon.

I get the appeal but meh, boring.

As if I needed another reason to hate double kick drums. Just awful, the whole thing. Awful.

I don't know what's happening here, is it pop? is it ska? The songs, while occasionally catchy, are incredibly cheesy. It was well produced and there are a things to like but it feels like it's trying to hard and is directionless. I didn't like this one.

I always enjoy strange and interesting music but I feel like these guys are taking advantage of me. WTF did I just listen to? I had intended to rate 1 star because I didn't really "enjoy" it but I'm giving an extra star for creativity.

171 albums deep this is the very first one where I'm saying to myself "this doesn't belong on this list". It's well done which isn't surprising coming from Neil Hannon/Divine Comedy but there's just nothing interesting about this album at all. I guess if you like cheesy over the top theatrical singing it's great for you? Sometimes I'll hear an album I hate but understand the inclusion for cultural significance. I just can't find one single reason for this album to be among the 1001 greatest of all time.

All REM sounds like the same happy upbeat depressing song. At this point I think they're just not for me.

Too long.

Don't try to tell me this isn't the same song 12 times. The music is okay, the lyrics are a joke, I'll never listen to this again.

The music is nice but I kept feeling like I needed to clear my throat the whole time.

Snoop Dogg is a bitch.

A truly painful experience.

The Johnny Rotten imitation stopped being cute pretty quickly. Interesting to listen to once but I would be glad to never hear this again.
