Live At The Regal
B.B. KingNobody since and to this day (besides Jimi Hendrix) has ever made their guitar cry in the way that the king of blues did all those years ago. A stellar live album, jam packed with hits and no misses, classic
Nobody since and to this day (besides Jimi Hendrix) has ever made their guitar cry in the way that the king of blues did all those years ago. A stellar live album, jam packed with hits and no misses, classic
The birth of a new genre is always something that should be celebrated and listened to. 4.5/5
That was one of the nastiest albums I've heard in a long time, and I really mean that in the best way possible. I wasn't totally in love with the title track, but other than that, this is easily a 5/5 album for substance and historical value
One of the greatest concept albums ever made. My favorite record of all time (tied with Electric Ladyland) for a good reason. The stresses of modern day life, loss and grief, finding your own identity, being ridiculed into conformity, never truly connecting with others, it's too much for us sometimes. Eventually we loose ourselves in the background noise and become so disconnected to the rest of the world, funny enough this is why there's so much to connect with here in this album. On a personal level it makes me feel more emotional than any other piece of art I can think of. On a creative level it shattered every single critics expectations and remains as Pink Floyd's magnum opus due to its subject matter and sheet relatability to the human experience. Captures the entire life of one mans journey into self destruction and disillusionment through heavy drug addiction and self isolation, looping around on itself (isn't this where we came in?) to really drive home the point of how easy it is for any human being to fall into this trap given the right external circumstances, after all, we're all just clawing our way through this existential crises on thin ice anyways. I originally thought that the wall was a metaphor for death, we gain more bricks during our short lives that we add to our own wall. Eventually one day we will die, being reborn or not, and leave these same bricks to our grandchildren for them to piece together in a way they see fit. This could either be a good or bad wall depending on the morality and heart of the builder. However in high school I finally did some research and discovered what the message truly was, I was just overthinking it too much. Creating a literal wall between yourself and the rest of the world, or those you see as less capable than you. The berlin wall, the great wall of china, the proposed wall between the U.S. and mexico, all these walls were meant to ward off other people from getting close to you, or more realistically, keeping yourself from coming to connect with and understand your fellow brothers and sisters. I think one line specifically sums up what I love so much about this brilliant work from Rodger, from the first song, In The Flesh?, If you want to find out what's behind these cold eyes You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise Oh yeah, and the movie is pretty good too.
One of Bob Dylan's best, went electric on BIABH and only refined the sound on this album. Somehow only getting better by the time he released his next album only 1 year later
Pretty solid effort from Jimmy Smith. Lots of tight grooves and a light atmosphere that makes it a fun listen to put on and relax
3.5/5 a pretty great album when it hits its strides. Starts strong and ends strong, the middle section had a few good tunes but mostly forgettable to me. Nice cover of Little Wing!
A fairly solid concept album from Bruce about a town on Nebraska, I think. Anyways, good listen, a nice sound, 3.5/5
Is it nostalgia? What am I not getting here? 1.5/5
What can I say? Thrash at its peak
Nobody since and to this day (besides Jimi Hendrix) has ever made their guitar cry in the way that the king of blues did all those years ago. A stellar live album, jam packed with hits and no misses, classic
Solid effort from an artist I have no prior knowledge of, will definitely be checking her music out after this listen
I guess that it was decent, I thought a few of the songs were stand outs but overall this album didn't do it for me, 2.5/5
Great album to just sit back and feel the funk
3.5/5 for this record, a lot to like but I just can not take that ska shit seriously for some reason, the first leg if this album sounds like something that would be featured on the show LazyTown. The whole album has some variety though and the second half is more funk and protest songs so I would say overall this was a very good album and I would be inclined to give it another listen sometime in the future, closer to 4/5 but I can't justify that with a couple of the tracks sounding too much like the 90's if that makes sense. Great cover of Freddie's Dead though!
Pretty solid, lots to like here but not much really stood out to me. Might come back to listen again but it wouldn't be my first choice to pick at random and play. 3.5/5
Never heard of this guy before, after listening I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. Lots to love here, super catchy vibes. Will come back to this artist for more
Not sure why the mixed reception for this one. It's so good! Definitely a much different take on electronic music which I will always welcome as I feel it's a genre that gets bogged down by too much of the same sounding records. Give it a listen.
3.5/5 , it was a Steely Dan album, meaning it was really good. Bit sure I would come back to this one over Aja but definitely a worthwhile listen for fans
Joy Division really was one of the most influential bands of the 80's, couldn't stop thinking of them while listening to this album. Not to say it's bad at all, I quite enjoyed it, but felt too mixed on it for a few songs. A pretty nice album if you're a fan of punk/alternative/Irish pub sounds. 3.5/5
Lots of good beats, chill vibe music. Not sure if I'll ho back to most of these songs, but a handful of them were really great. 3.5/5
4.5/5 , Classic. Essential listen.
I really like this man's voice, he can sing but also he's a little goofy which makes him stand out from other R&B artists. Liked the first half more but definitely has some stand out cuts on the second side. Definitely is the soul machine, I'm interested in listening to his other projects. 3.5/5
Who are these people? Never even heard of this band. But, wow. Great stuff. My least favorite song was the first and I thought this was going to be a slog but after that it's nothing but slaps all the way through. Government funded art, I like it in this instance! Would definitely recommend
I love your work Brian, definitely a stand out producer, but I didn't groove with this project like I thought I would've. Listened to it driving in the car and it just didn't hold my attention which is a shame because I could listen to Side B of David Bowie's 'Low' all day long. Needs another listen, but as of now I'm not super into it. 2.5/5
Even people who don't like Rap and Hip-hop love this record. That should tell you everything you need to know about it
The production is really great, bit outside of that and two songs this really did not do anything for me. Decent. 2.5/5
One of the THE best rock/alt albums ever made, besides my mixed feelings on the song Faust Arp this is nothing but slaps and bangers front to back. Essential listen for any music fan
Love me some Iggy & David collab projects. Getting off the drugs and making some of the most groundbreaking stuff of both of their respective careers in the late 70's, you love to see boys being boys.
Baby's first John Lennon. 2.5/5
Classic status for a damn good reason, 4.5/5
Reminded me why The Beatles are the most influential music group in human history, 3.5/5
It's cool, it's fine, idk man I just didn't really get it all that much. No two songs sound the same but that's not necessarily a good thing just like how every song on an album sounding alike isn't necessarily a bad thing, eh. It's a good album, 2.5/5
It's supposed to be fun music to chill to, don't take it so damn seriously people! 3.5/5
Hard to top songs like Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman when you put them at the start of the album. That being said, Carlos Santana is one of the greats. Super solid record. Give it a listen
I really liked this! Pretty much echoed my thoughts for the album OK by Talvin Singh. It's a different sound for electronic music to have. Very enjoyable listen
Sweet album. My first from the artist and I would say I'd like to give some of their other albums a listen. Gentle and strong sounds here. 3.5/5
That's some GOOD shit man. Mmmm. Tasty.
Listened on February 26th 2022. Absurdly relevant to this crazy Russian invasion of Ukraine times were living in. Fucking meaty. Pure anger. Love this album
As far as I'm concerned Zeppelin 1-4 are flawless and I will stand by that until I die
Surprised by how much variety is on this record. A solid listen from the boys
The birth of a new genre is always something that should be celebrated and listened to. 4.5/5
Speaking as a white man from the suburbs this album was definitely not made for me
I'd have to give it another listen to fully appreciate it. Very good tunes here. 3.5/5
I really liked this. 3.5/5
Yeah! Punk music! Hell yeah!
It's super weird and unique. I like this album a lot and I'm excited to dive into their other records.
Singer. Actor. This guy does it all. 3.5/5
Reservation. 3.5/5
I'm really disappointed I didn't connect with this more. It has everything I want from a record of this kind but I just didn't feel it and after while I was just waiting for it to end. I can definitely hear songs on here that inspired artists like David Bowie in his mid to late 90s period. It's alright.
Great fucking album. Sick grooves and killer flows. I just wish I could understand him!
Some stand out tracks on here, obviously the title track is the best on here but a very good collection of songs nonetheless. 3.5/5
I enjoyed it. A lot.
Get on the bus
20 minutes of atmospheric soundscapes and another 20 minutes of post-punk noise psychedelic rock, years before punk rock even became a staple of mainstream music. Brilliant record.
So much more than just "Cars & Other Songs Collection" like I imagined. Simple, repetitive, strange, cool.
I'MMM ANNNEEEEMIIICCC!!!!!
This record is very culturally important for fans of hip-hop/house/electronics genres. Would recommend. As of right now this is an extremely solid 3.5/5 and might be a 4/5 whenever I listen to it again.
The land sure was fat. 3.5/5
Nothing new to say. Genius from front to back. Classic status for a good reason
Completely loved it. Need more of this kind of energy in my life
Did not disappoint. I think this album could've been 10-15 minutes shorter, but overall this was a pretty solid listen. 3.5/5
Essential country/live album. Need I say more?
Huh, well, alright then. Maybe I should listen to her first album and reserve my full judgement until then. Boring instrumentals and a good voice. 1.5/5
Enjoyed this a lot, alt rock with some neat twists, this shit was dry! But I mean that in a good way! 3.5/5
Towards the end I was hoping it would be over soon, but not because I didn't like it, just felt like this could've been tightened up more, I liked the instrumentals a lot, and the hip hop cuts were super solid. Overall it's a classic album and deserves the status it has attained over the decades.
Enjoyed this a lot, I wish I just cared more.
Classic 60's psychedelic rock. Doesn't do a lot to stand out from others with the same sound around the same time, but if you like this type of music you're sure to get some enjoyment from this album. 3.5/5
Fat. Cuts. All. Day.
Albums with a perfect title in regards to the music. 2.5/5
Nobody did it better than Bowie. 4.5/5
Personal top 5 Elton John albums, not every song is a chart topping earworm, but they are all memorable and make up a very strong body of work. 4.5/5
Based as fuck
I knew CCR was good but I didn't know it was like this!
It's like what Rubber Soul was for The Beatles, the start of a great new chapter in the bands history
1990's Krautrock. If you know, you know
It's fine for what it is. It could've used a little shorter of a runtime in my opinion, but I did like it, even though I didn't completely like every single song, it is a complete and digestive project that's enjoyable if you already like the genre. 3.5/5
LSD was good in 1968 👍👍. The strongest 7/10 I can give without it being an 8/10. In all honesty it probably is an 8/10 album, might be a 9/10, I'm not sure yet. I'll rate it how I feel right now after just listening to it.
My first album from Ray Charles, I can definitely say I am not disappointed. This has aged very well, still feels like an era gone by with the background vocals and orchestration, but I do mean that in the best way possible.
A good record, lots of great music and some songs I wasn't too hot on. 3.5/5
Listened to it and already forgot about it.
It's fine. I was expecting a lot more from this and I unfortunately didn't get it
The album cover art is great, the music inside was adequate. 2.5/5
Some genuinely brilliant songs here, loved the second half more than the first half, but I don't think it was anything life changing. Probably should've listened to this smoking a J, but I didn't. 3.5/5
Sorry @ women this wasn't all I expected it to be, that being said there is a lot to enjoy about this album, I just wasn't interested in all of it. Felt like it dragged on for too long and didn't have enough payoff. 2.5/5
Let me start off by saying that I didn't dislike this album, I found a few tracks rather enjoyable, but it just got too monotonous for me after about the 30 minute mark. I definitely enjoyed the second half of the record a lot more than the first. That being said, I will probably never listen to this album ever again in my life, nothing here will probably ever stick with me (besides the title track, I really rather enjoyed that song) but that's completely fine. 2.5/5
I like dad rock. This was textbook definition of "dad rock" and if you expected anything more you're not going to get it. 3.5/5
I don't always like albums that have many different styles of songs like there is on here, I usually feel like it takes away from the pacing and makes it too inconsistent for my enjoyment. That doesn't mean I wouldnt listen to those songs on their own, but when put into one package I usually feel like it makes the whole thing drag a lot. With all that being said, I did not at all have that issue here, there's so many great songs that it's really hard to even get too upset with something like that, especially when you know this was going to be a triple album that was slimmed down to a double LP at the request of the record company. This was also my first Prince album I listened to from one side to the other. I loved it. There's a reason why this man has gone down as one of the most legendary acts in modern music history.
There's something to like here, however I think it's mostly just surface level. I just listened to this album 2 hours ago and I already forgot pretty much everything about it. Not to say this isn't a good record, it just didn't stick with me in a meaningful way.
Pop music has never sounded so good, so cohesive, so danceable, and so consistent! I knew about the legacy of this record long before now, but actually having listened to it I know fully understand what makes it have such legendary status. Great listen. 4.5/5
You've already listened to it, you already know what the fuck is up. If you haven't listened to it, why are you reading this? Hurry up and give your ears some sweet guitar licks and atmosphere!
This is another band on this list I've never heard of before listening, I was pleasantly surprised. A really good album full of some awesome tunes. 3.5/5
Wow. Now that's what I call music, and by music I mean post-hardcore proto-mathrock. Jams for days. Front to back it's just stuffed with goodness. Absolutely legendary act, too bad they only made 2 albums before calling it quits. To quote Marty McFly, "I guess you guys aren't ready for that, but your kids are gonna love it." 4.5/5
I loved it a lot, I'm not sure if I liked it as much as "if you're feeling sinister" but as a debut album there's so much charm and talent on display. Got a little bit more tedious for me towards the end, but the first half was full of great songs that show the band that had something they wanted to prove to the world. 3.5/5
Started strong, ended extremely weak. Forgettable is the word I would use to describe this album best
I love prog rock, a true amalgamation of all different types of music, this is a straight jazz rock classic and I don't care what anyone says!
Never even heard of this guy before, can't believe that, this was more than a folk record. I loved it.
It started very strong and ended good, the second half was good but I failed to like it nearly as much as the first half. 3.5/5
It's a good record. Might have to give it another listen one day. 3.5/5
Seminal progressive rock album. Genesis at the height of their creative run of albums. 4.5/5
Might have liked this more than 'Sticky Fingers' but I will have to listen again to figure that out for sure. Great album from the Stones, give it a listen if you haven't
It's not even so bad that it's fun to hate, it's like background music at H&M bad, almost not even worth using your brain to think about it
At around the 3rd or 4th track I thought to myself, "this has to be some kind of joke." Fast forward to the 11th or 12th track and I audibly said to myself, "this isn't funny anymore." 1.5/5
Dire Staits makes music for people who enjoy some seriously good vibes, seems like a lot of people don't enjoy that kind of thing. 3.5/5
Some serious vibes on this record. Loved it front to back. Give it a listen
A pretty standard 1980s pop album that has a couple of pretty good tracks, but ultimately just blends in sonically with the rest of what came out at that time. 2.5/5
'Stand!' is full of way out there funky-pop infused jams that keeps you interested from beginning to end. An essential listen for any music fan. 4.5/5
These guys really must have liked 'The Velvet Underground' because that's all I thought about while listening to this
I'm not exactly sure why this is on the essentials list, not because it's bad, but just because it came out so recently I don't know how it is had nearly enough time to be considered as such. That's really my only complaint though. 3.5/5
You either get Tom, or you don't.
An interesting post-punk album, I would probably like it more upon another listen, but as of now I thought it did a good job at accomplishing the vibes and sounds. 3.5/5
I don't really care about other people's politics, but when you have to shake your head because of lyrics like "At heart, what's left, we sadly know that we are the last truly British people you'll ever know" something is definitely wrong there. The music was very enjoyable!
More influential than "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and you know I'm right!
Great album, the length was definitely an issue, the songs are all classic. 3.5/5
I'm not sure who is playing that guitar, but there is a lot of emotions behind those strings
It never fails to amaze me how that second half is so damn good it's over before you know it. 4.5/5
Wow, my first Otis Redding album. I was blown away. It did not disappoint. 4.5/5
Eh. It's whatever. Sounds like everything coming out of the 1969 scene. I'll take The Velvet Underground any day over this. 2.5/5
Nothing happens. Very low energy. Brilliant record!
3-4 great songs, the rest were good. 3.5/5
HEAAVVVYYYY LICKS! This album was so much more than just "Seven Nation Army" and I gotta say, I'm impressed. Straight to the point. That was a weird way to end your album though.
Is this album objectively a perfect record? No, I will admit that. But I don't care, this album came to me nearly a decade ago, right when I was really getting into music and the art of listening to entire albums, and it has stayed with me the whole time. I'm still impressed by certain songs like "Monolith" and "Life's A Gas" and the real emotions I feel listening to them. Not perfect, but to me, it's a damn classic.
My first Mingus, not as good to me as Miles Davis' "Kind Of Blue" but that's a hiiiggghhhh bar to pass. Great if you like jazz, terrible if you think jazz is meaningless noise
Arguably my favorite Bowie album
Arguably my favorite Bowie album
This is Earth Radio. And now, here's... human music. 2.5/5
A bit dull at times, still a pretty good little album from this band. 3.5/5
Ehhhh. I will say the vocals and production in particular are better than it needed to be for a generic country pop album. I remember when it came out, and many people that year were very polarized about it. I remember mostly hearing good things, I thought it was pretty forgettable. I listened to it a few days ago and I can't recall a single thing from it. Not terrible, just not exactly sure why there was so much praise for this. It was definitely too pop-y and gummy in a lot of parts for my own taste. 2.5/5
It gets a lot better as it goes along. Still not what I'd say is "good" as an overall project, except for that album cover of course! That's great!
I liked this pretentious shit! I wish the album cover didn't suck, or I might actually want this on vinyl. 3.5/5
Tom Waits, makes music, for humans, with problems.
I gotta say what said in regards to their album "Goo" and reiterate that Sonic Youth band members are clearly inspired by The Velvet Underground, every single band after 1960's was too, but they are HEAVILY inspired by them, it's too noticable for me. I will say I did like this more than "Goo" but still, not as exciting and groundbreaking as I was led to believe. Not to be a cynical asshole, but I'm gonna be a cynical asshole. This album is only groundbreaking to the people who haven't listened to "White Light/White Heat" & Kraftwerk's first album, that's the kind of noise I want to listen to. 3.5/5
It didn't take itself too seriously, and after the first few songs that won me over. I'd love to hear more of this guy's work, seriously a special talent here. 3.5/5
While "Discovery" is definitely the more consistent album (and understandably most people's favorite Daft Punk album) this album just has much higher high points for me, and puts you in a trance for an hour. If you don't like that, I'm honestly sorry for you!
Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible, Neon Bible. Favorite song: Neon Bible. 3.5/5
There will be no hair-metal slander in my house!
I just love David Bowie, 7 of his albums are 10/10 for me, in the same league of artists for me as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and the Grateful Dead. Just such a brilliant mind, I wish he was still around today. We miss you Ziggy.
Never heard of her, pleasantly surprised. I like this list because I get to find artists like this, barely recognized but very talented musicians. 3.5/5
How does an hour long piano concert go this hard?
Simply cool punk music, very nice vocals from the lead singer, I like this a lot. 3.5/5
Alice Cooper just school'd me
SOUNDS GREAT! Thats it. 3.5/5
A fairly strong record, one that has a few too many "okay" songs for me to consider it great, but maybe upon a relisten I would think more highly of this. 3.5/5
I really like this record, but I'm not sure if I loved it. This is a great record in a lot of spots, but I think cutting down the length a hair would've done some good for this. I'd definitely recommend a listen. 3.5/5
How am I supposed to listen to this seminal record and not give it 5 stars? It's loud, messy, rough, in your face, and proud of it. Lots of your favorite bands "sound" can be traced right back to this. An undisputable classic
Super good songs here, a lot of it sounds similar, but that's a small complaint for a really good sound. 3.5/5
We're getting sad with Lou Reed. Nice!
Classic album. At its best when it's not just icelandic whining into a microphone. 4.5/5
I wish the second half was as great as the first half, oh well
WOW. This is some good sounding stuff right here. I would love to listen to some more of this guy's work.
Probably my favorite from Ice Cube, although Death Certificate is definitely a top tier contender
Listening to this post Alex Jones interview, it doesn't hit the same, not like it used to
It wasn't as good as 'Solid Air' but a fine follow up to that album nonetheless. 3.5/5
All over the place in terms of quality. Had some really well made stand out tracks that I really enjoyed. The low points were pretty uninteresting for me. Would like to listen to it again sometime in the future when I'm not driving.
The music was good, I think the album could've been shaved down a few songs. 3.5/5
First half slogged a bit for me, loved the second half. Pretty decent, might listen to some more of their works
I can see why this album is so well revered. I wish the second half of the album kept up steam like the first half did. Amazing production by Paul Simon. Pretty damn good overall. 3.5/5
It was good background music for the gym, the songs were pretty fun and light-hearted but had good instrumentation as well
A fine effort from Judas Priest, but was nothing memorable at the end of the day for me. Still culturally important for the hard rock and metal scene, but it's no Black Sabbath (1969)
Those Japanese people really know how to bring the energy to a concert. Great music too from the boys in the band
It was pretty good? A weird mix of alt-rock and country that actually kind of works well. I liked her voice and song structures. 3.5/5
Essential 90's rap. Classic is as classic be. 4.5/5
This album came out of nowhere and had no reason being as great as it was, definitely going to need to delve deeper in the discography after this gem. 4.5/5
I'm going to have to listen to this again and reassess if I really like it as much as I did the first go around, but it was really well made. Some songs sounded like what David Bowie would end up doing on his album '1. Outside' a decade later, which any comparison to Bowie is high praise
It was pretty good, nice background music for the gym. Could've been better, but nice for what it was. 3.5/5
This album got really great in the second half, and it was really jarring. I'm not sure what to give this, probably more listens will reveal itself to me, but I will just rate this 8/10 for now, even if this might bump down in the future upon relistening I think I kind of loved it? Not sure, but damn, what an interesting listen for an 80's pop record
This was a fine album, pretty fun most of the time, but falls into that forgettable area for me, I'd say it was good, but it's no Ramones. I guess people forget about The Velvet Underground and The Stooges when saying this is the original punk record, but that's fine I guess. 3.5/5
Stone Cold Classic
A love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme. 4.5/5
Arguably their best album. God tier album.
So forgettable. Generic, might've been great at the time, but I wasn't impressed by all but one song on this whole album. Meh
I really liked this. Definitely a group I've never even heard of before, and I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Slow and easy listen, but never feels too simplistic. Good stuff
Really shows it's roots, and is proud of it. Holds nothing back, pushes the ideas of rock music further, and keeps you engaged into every song the whole way through. What a classic record. 4.5/5
Much like Radiohead's first studio album, this is a very solid first effort from a group that would go on to make quite a name for themselves in the history books of modern music. Some okay songs, and some really killer songs. 3.5/5
I didn't love it, but it was fine. Sounded like a generic British rock band but that's not completely a bad thing, the music was enjoyable but not very memorable overall. I'll probably forget all the music in a couple of days but it was fine for what it was
That was one of the nastiest albums I've heard in a long time, and I really mean that in the best way possible. I wasn't totally in love with the title track, but other than that, this is easily a 5/5 album for substance and historical value
Really solid 90's dance electronic record, really impressed with some of the compositions on here. Need to listen to some more of this guy's work
I think for my first LCD Soundsystem record I can see mostly why it's such a popular artist, pretty simple and hypnotic once you get really deep into some of these songs on the album. Didn't really like the final song, but overall I thought this was great
Zeppelin's first 4 albums are the stuff of rock music legend. Unmatched to this day
Yeah, the music here is all really good. Minimal dreamy sad music for the 21st century made in 1980's UK
Great hip hop record. Not the best one I've ever heard, I don't think anything quite lived up to "Ny State of Mind" but that's fine
Pretty fine little record. Sounded like "Diet" Smashing Pumpkins most of the way through, but the good thing about the Smashing Pumpkins is that even a soundalike band is still a damn fine listen.
It's like Bob Dylan poetry if he kept going down the country genre after 'Self Portrait' in 1970. Really impressed. Gotta get some more of this vibe in my life
I'd love to hear the story behind this albums making of process. Cat Stevens tells stories that are so relatable to the human experience. Essential folk and essential 70's record
Food... Water... Atmosphere...
Another great album from the man Bob and Co. Really great stuff here. Loved the first half
Pretty damn good little proto-punk record. It's no 'Funhouse' but it does what it sets out to very well. 3.5/5
Call me a dad because this shit rocks
Very important to hip-hop culture/women in hip-hop/Chicago culture. Good if not a little bit repetitive outside of the first and last few songs here. Definitely an important entry on the list. 3.5/5
When funkadelic starts talking about flushing out the mental diarrhea, I felt that. 4.5/5
If it happened at Newport Jazz festival in the 50's/60's chances are it probably slap'd. 4.5/5
A very well made album, songs are really good, some great, but I don't think the whole album was as good as some standout songs were. 3.5/5
Really dug this. Some solid jams. Wasn't too nu-metal or goofy as I thought it might've been. Great album
That feeling when you lose a feeling. 4.5/5
Solid effort from Buck Owens, there is definitely a lot of influence that was plucked from this particular style, being replicated by country artists for the next 5+ decades to come. Super influential, I really enjoyed the few songs where the tempo slowed down and his voice was able to hit those low moments. Liked it, pretty nice little twang to it. 3.5/5
I mean besides a few stand out songs this is a pretty generic 80's upbeat pop record. It's no Blondie, but for an all female group that was (apparently) the first not to be managed by a man it's fine for the historical significance. It's alright, good enough for some mindless background music.
This wasn't bad, just very forgettable. I think this might be a 1 star if it wasn't for the couple of hard hitting in your face single tracks. I didn't hate it, just didn't find anything here particularly interesting.
I really liked the direction this album headed in as it progressed, I really like it, and I'd be curious if I would love it upon repeat listens. 3.5/5
Fantastic 80's pop record, Prince was a one of a kind act
What can I say, Captain Beedheart it's an absolute legend
I thought it was pretty okay, but after having listened to it about a week ago I can't remember a single thing off of here that was memorable. 2.5/5
Nothing I thought was groundbreaking or innovative on here, but I liked it and it went down fairly easily. 3.5/5
I listen to the original David Bowie mix of this album, I tried listening to the Iggy Pop version for about two songs and I thought it was just horrendous. That being said, this album was not nearly as a fantastic as Funhouse was, but it was still pretty great and I really enjoyed the majority of it
I didn't particularly love this album, that is up until the last four songs where I absolutely started to love every track on it. I later found out that version on Spotify was wrong in this track listing and the last four songs were actually from a different album by Shuggie Otis called freedom flight. I would have much rather listen to that because it actually had some really interesting compositional material that was the most memorable stuff on the album, and it wasn't even technically on this particular album from the list. Going to have to check that out for sure
There's a really great album somewhere here, it just needed to have about 20 to 30 minutes chopped off in order to make that a reality. 3.5/5
Truly the beginning of a new chapter for The Temptations were they really began to explore new and interesting sonic palettes that would pave the way for other artists like Stevie Wonder and Funkadelic down the line. 3.5/5
Pretty standard '90s metal album, not a lot of these songs are going to stick with me but I did like it for what that's worth. 3.5/5
Most of what makes this album so special is that "no fucks given" attitude that so much of the NYC art scene breeds. 4.5/5
I think I might not be giving this album enough credit, there was a lot of really great songs on here, and the runtime was pretty good for what this style was going for. I'd be curious to listen to some other records from him. 3.5/5
I really like Harry Nilsson, he seems like he was a real cool guy
I just really don't care about Primal Scream whatsoever. For some reason I just cannot seem to enjoy anything I've heard from them, there was nothing offensively bad that I disliked on this album, but even as background music at the gym it was completely boring me and I was just waiting for it to end. 1.5/5
A lot heavier on the synth use then I would have originally thought from only having listened to the two major singles off of this record. I liked it and I just wish that some of the songs were a little more cohesive and tight. 3.5/5
I really like Randy Newman now, he's a great at arranging songs and a pretty good lyricist. This might grow on me over time, would love to hear more albums from the guy. 3.5/5
I really enjoyed this. Definitely feels like something I would've heavily cherished if I heard it for the first time in my early-mid teens. I'm giving it extra credit because Tim Buckley's vocals sound like what every alternative rock group was singing like in the 90's (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, etc.) and was definitely influential in that regard
Classic country album. Willie remains one of the most inspiring and influential minds in country/pop/rock. 4.5/5
It's fine. It's like if The Smiths made sub par music while still having Morrissey on vocals. Could skip this one. 2.5/5
I didn't hate it, I thought it was fine enough. Not something I'm going to listen to anytime soon. 2.5/5
Great album! Lost me in the second half, too bad it couldn't stick the landing because this was a really fun listen for the first 60-70% of the record. 3.5/5
Really enjoyed how subdued a lot of these songs were, and at an easy 30 minutes this went down very easily. I know Elvis is like a Rorschach test for people, but just listening to this by itself with no outside bias I really loved this album for what it accomplishes
There is an amazing indie folk pop rock record buried in here somewhere, I really enjoy it a lot of these songs, and I really do admire the effort of making such a giant album, it could not have been an easy process for the band. I just can't in good faith give this a very high mark just because a lot of it really just feels like filler and bloat, I loved the second disc the most, and after putting all the best songs from the album onto a playlist I narrowed it down to about 35 minutes worth of amazing songs. Doesn't justify the runtime, 3.5/5
This was fine, I really enjoyed the last song on the album, but besides that I didn't really get too much out of this. I would have much rather have just listened to Nirvana instead
This was a pretty good album. Nothing that was on here was going to blow any minds, if you know the band then you could expect pretty much all of what you're going to get from this, if that kind of thing appeals to you then you're probably going to like it, which I did. 3.5/5
It said on Spotify that Supergrass was "one of the most important bands to emerge during the 1990's" and my question is, why? This isn't anything new or interesting, just more britpop, even if they're talking about commercial success I still don't know where they're coming from, there were so many more important and influential rock bands to emerge during the 90's, in terms of the quality of the record, it's okay. It was a very passive listen from me, I liked one of two songs, but I won't remember this is a couple of hours. 2.5/5
Even though The Beatles are probably my favorite band, I've never actually listened to this all the way though. Good album boys!
I liked this well enough, the instrumentals were all very good, and some of the songs were genuinely touching on something very beautiful and honest. Good for her.
Neil Young proving he can still keep up with the youth
Really outside of the big singles (Kids, Electric Feel) this isn't a super memorable album. Sure the production is great, I just don't really see anything else about it that makes it top 1001 list, not even the bands best album, I guess cultural significance? Three great songs, that's better than some albums on this generator list I've listened to.
Voice= not as good as his debut record Emotions= cranked as high as the dial goes
A phenomenal album, an essential for any fan of prog rock, or even 1970's experimental sounds in general. This is like a mix of all types of musicians and genres, Gordon Lightfoot, early Krafwerk, and Frank Zappa all blended together with a little hint of magic mushrooms for good measure. Still holds up. 4.5/5
I liked it, some really cool songs here. I like the one that goes "beep boo-boo bop boo-boo bop". 3.5/5
Not a great overall record, but has a lot of great moments on it, and a few great songs
Have You Ever Been Experienced?
Pretty good little punk record. The first full album from the band I've heard, but I assume the others that came afterwards are a little more refined. 3.5/5
Stevie was in his musical prime, some beautiful songs and hits in this record
Another banger from Stevie, what were you expecting?
Besides 'Blood On The Tracks' this is the record that really made the Dylan sound "click" for me. Super well regarded classic for a damn good reason
The greatest album ever made. No debate
Loved the minimalist approach to this sound, Like what Joy Division would end up doing 2 years later, a brand new approach to this new landscape of music emerging in the late 70s.
It was a really good album. Didn't quite live up to expectations, but really good nonetheless. Might be a 4/5 album, but I'll have to reassess my feelings in the future. 3.5/5
A solid effort from the band. I noticed a but more synth than I did on 'The Queen is Dead' but pretty enjoyable overall. Much like their debut album the songs are all good with one or two definite standouts on the tracklist. 3.5/5
Pretty decent album overall, the second half really heightened my enjoyment overall. Pretty good little 80s new wave record. 3.5/5
What I consider to be the beginning of The Beatles Golden era, the experimental side started here. 4.5/5
A classic 90s hip hop record. Not as great as I remember it being, but still great nonetheless
Started off fantastic, loved the first few songs, trickled off in quality down the stretch, but ended pretty good. 3.5/5
I'm thankful for this list for making me finally listen to all these classic Stevie Wonder albums, this is definitely one of the best (new to me) albums I've heard in awhile. 4.5/5
How fucking depressing was that...
I'm not sure what I was expecting, maybe something a little more mind-blowing, as this album has pretty legendary status which I have put off listening for quite awhile. I liked it, but nothing blew me away. Still, a good collection of songs. Maybe a reslisten would make it click a little more for me
Tons of fun songs here, started off okay, got great in the middle, and was good to end. Really liked this
Truly the "start" of their massive creative period that lasted until their eventual break up in the late 1960's. A fantastic listen still almost 60 years later. Crazy its been that long
A great album that would be much better suited for when my mind was in an altered state. Very dreamy, lots of wandering sounds, really enjoyed this. The 2nd album of theirs I've listened to and probably their best, but I really enjoyed 'Treasure' as well, they're pretty close in terms of my enjoyment level
He was a great musician. 4.5/5
If Frank Ocean never makes another album again, at least I will always have Channel Orange and Blond, and all the memories associated with them. 4.5/5
Awesome samples, great flows, classic 90's hip-hop record for a reason. 4.5/5
