All That You Can't Leave Behind
U2I really struggled to get into this. It felt very safe and samey. Some of the worst and most generic lyrics I've ever heard too. Grace It's the name for a girl It's also a thought that Changed the world
I really struggled to get into this. It felt very safe and samey. Some of the worst and most generic lyrics I've ever heard too. Grace It's the name for a girl It's also a thought that Changed the world
Horrible. I hated every second of this. It was a real battle to not skip through any of it.
U2 are boring
Mrs Robinson was okay and the rest was incredibly boring
Only heard of them because of the name and it was very much okay
2/3* I struggle with the older style but liked some of the backing music
Not really into this style of music
Boring
More varied than I expected but still not my thing. Slow start too
I really don't understand who this music is for. It's awful. There are no redeeming qualities. It isn't even short
Better than the other early generated albums
Really weird but in a fun way
One of the better pop albums we've had. Was really hoping Cornflake Girl would be on this one when I saw it was Tori Amos
Some great songs and then a few alright ones which dragged it down to a 3
Not listened to this for a while now. Better than I remembered it being.
A fun album. I recognised more songs than I expected
Solid album. A few great songs broken up by boring interludes
A lot better than I expected. Probably 3/4*
I struggled to stay interested in this one.
Enjoyable classic album
I really like the song Scorpio Rising by them so was hoping it would be more of the same but was just a bit weird and not as good as I'd hoped
It was okay. The album is confusing as it repeats a load of the same songs which made it feel like it was going on for ages and I skipped the duplicates
Urgh jazz. At least they knew how to play their instruments and it wasn't a load of screeching instruments drowning each other out. It was short too which helped
I'd heard a few of the songs on this before but never listened to the whole album. Impressed by this one and will probably listen to it again
I've never understood Radiohead. The only emotion this makes me feel is boredom. They have like 3 interesting songs and the rest are all whining moans with boring backing. There is nothing exciting or interesting about this album
Decent. Not exactly my taste but was interesting enough.
Fine background music.
Surprisingly enjoyable considering I didn't understand most of it.
Amazing voice and some great songs. Probably somewhere between 4 and 5 stars.
Not for me. Found it a bit dull. Maybe someone more interesting could make a few of the songs more enjoyable.
Some really good songs. Chuck D is always good and Flavor Flav is also there
Boring, but thankfully short. I don't think I can give it one star as it wasn't painful or irritating. Just total nothing music.
I found it pretty boring and samey
I find punk singing annoying.
I enjoyed it as something a bit different. Walk was probably the highlight for me.
I really struggled to get through this one. I found it incredibly boring. It almost reminded me of being trapped in a school Carol service or something. It felt like it would never end.
Started strong with Hotel California but quickly dropped off and I was getting quite bored by the end.
Liked the first 2 songs then got less into it.
Slightly generic music with a lot of talking interludes
I only listened to the original 10 track release. Didn't want to sit through the 2.5hr Spotify version. Thought it was fine
It was okay. A bit better than I was expecting. Would probably give 2.5 stars.
A few familiar songs and overall better than I expected. Was more enjoyable than a lot of the other old albums recently
Horrible. Barely more enjoyable than the sound of Stevie grinding metal at work. Really hoped they would turn into a Metallica tribute act when I saw Sad but True. Not enough words and too many weird noises for me.
Not sure exactly why it is, but this just isn't my thing. Was really hoping this would surprise me in a good way after Manu Chao
Okay. Not super exciting but certainly not bad.
Not my cup of tea
More enjoyable than I expected.
Agree with Aron and Jennie. It felt very much like background music and I am also scared of Madonna
This is the first album I gave up on. Really not a fan of jazz.
Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me. Enjoyed the noises in Child in Time which had to be the highlight.
Was better than I expected. Although not much more than background music for me.
Better than I expected. A few good songs and some I'd heard covered before which surprised me. Got a bit dreary at times though
A hilarious album. Only at all enjoyable because of how short the songs were. I don't plan on listening to this again but it was funny and I'm glad I've heard it once
I really struggled to get into this. It felt very safe and samey. Some of the worst and most generic lyrics I've ever heard too. Grace It's the name for a girl It's also a thought that Changed the world
It was decent. I enjoyed the weird sections but also didn't find it that exciting either.
Classic old school hip hop album. Enough great songs to ignore the few meh ones.
I found every song relentlessly upbeat, dull or both. Not for me
A classic punk album. Droning and talentless. Made me feel like I was way too harsh to Paul Simon
I liked the first song or two. Then it just turned into background music
The last song saved this from being a 1*
The occasional interesting song or moment but mostly fine background guitar music
It is just too long. There were a couple of okay songs in there and if it were condensed down to a normal album size it might have been okay. But there was far too much rubbish
Some really good songs. But too many long weird intro/outro instrumentals for me. Almost made it a 3 because of that
Things behind the sun was alright but the rest of it was fairly monotonous strumming with droning singing over the top
Better than I remembered it being. Still much prefer Oasis to Blur though. I'd say 3.5 stars
Was fine. I've always found the lead singer to have a slightly funny voice but I do like some of their songs.
Not very exciting music
Mostly boring pop
Always nice when an album I already have downloaded comes up. I'd agree with Aron that some of the beats aren't amazing but still an enjoyable album.
It is obviously very famous and impactful, but I just don't enjoy this sort of music. I find it almost upsetting upbeat and cheery
Decent album. I've heard a couple of their songs before. It felt like all the songs were missing a little something to make it a great album
I was really relieved I didn't enjoy it that much when I found out it wasn't on Spotify
I thought I'd dislike it a lot more than I did
Not the sort of thing I'd typically listen to but was surprisingly good
Started off very strong but then fell off on the last half
I was excited for this as I like a few of their songs. But it all felt kind of decent and didn't stand out enough
A pretty dull album. I wouldn't really notice when songs ended and the next one started. Couldn't get interested in this one
Started very strong and faded in the last half
Some fun songs with a few meh ones every now and again
Horrible. I hated every second of this. It was a real battle to not skip through any of it.
I found it a bit boring. But anything was better than the last album
Really weird. Especially the last song. Was a bit too strange for me
Certainly not bad. But, I didn't find it that exciting either
Very nostalgic. Was fun to go back to this again. Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the standout for me
Felt like it was just Every Step You Take and a load of filler
Decent background music and different to everything we have had so far
A bit boring other than Nothing Compares 2 You
I felt like I didn't fully get this album. Not sure if I just wasn't in the mood for it.
I find REM pretty boring except for their few hits which weren't on this album.
I only know her very famous stuff. Nothing seemed very memorable to me on this. Although I did quite like the dum dum song at the end
Not bad. Also not great either
I'd never listened to this before, but really enjoyed it
Had to listen to it on YouTube which lowered its score even further. It just felt like someone recounting past events in a high pitched voice. It didn't feel like song lyrics
Probably better than the other Stevie Wonder album but still not really my thing
Choo choo. Was nice and short but I didn't find it that exciting. 2/3*
Probably my favourite album we have had so far. Every song on this is great. Had to listen to Meteora and Minutes to Midnight after. So nostalgic
I enjoyed Seductive Barry and hated the last song. The rest of it was fine.
Strong start and got less interesting towards the end. 3/4
I did listen to this after Christmas and wasn't feeling very Christmassy. But it just didn't seem that good or interesting.
Better than expected but not my thing
Jazz isn't my thing. There were some cool moments on this but I mostly couldn't get past the jazziness
Surprisingly talented for a punk group. But just not really my taste
Half the album are bangers and an easy 5* but unfortunately there are a few average songs peppered in there. Probably 4/5*
I only recognised Basket Case off this one. Definitely preferred American Idiot
Method Man's voice is sooo good. Was surprised to hear a love song on there in All I Need. Release Yo Delf and PLO Style were also great. Will definitely come back to this one
Not very into live albums. Songs were decent though
Rubbish. Just a load of noises. I'll never get this sort of music
Imagine and How we're alright but the rest of it was pretty dull. This feels like one of those very famous albums you are meant to like but I just don't
Obviously very talented and had a few songs I recognise.
Fine but nothing to interest me
A few of the songs were missing. I wasn't too disappointed though as it wasn't a particularly interesting album anyway
Fun album. I don't often listen to this sort of music but enjoyed quite a bit of this. Very strong opening song too
Really weird and eclectic. Can't remember it that well but was an interesting listen
Classic album. Love every song and it is super nostalgic too. Immediately followed it up with What's the Story Morning Glory and the Masterplan.
Found most of the album on YouTube. It was fine but not worth much effort to seek out. Who's to blame was probably the best song from it. Would recommend that one.
Short. Other than that I don't have many positive things to say about this album
So much shit at the end of the album. Moog Raga instrumental was one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
Every jazz album I'm forced to endure further solidifies my hate for the genre.
A bad start to my 2 week catchup. Combines my dislike of jazz and live albums.
Dreaming of You is a great song which I seem to always forget. The rest was comparatively poor but still decent listening.
Not as bad as I feared from Queen. I think the only Queen albums people genuinely love are their compilations. They have released so much music and a lot of it is pretty dull really.
Only heard of them because of the name and it was very much okay
Once in a Lifetime was fine and the rest of it was fairly uninteresting
I didn’t know anything about Billy Joel other than that he is old. This surprised me by being a lot more enjoyable than expected.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. There were a handful of good songs and some average ones too. Also, a load of the songs have been sampled in the Wu-Tang vs the Beatles album which I really like.
I found most of the songs pretty forgettable
Fine
An incredible album from start to finish. I even enjoy the interludes which often irritate me. I had to start with this to hype me up before starting my 2 week backlog.
I was surprised by how many big hits were on this. A lot more enjoyable than expected and i might revisit it
This felt close to something I'd really enjoy but was missing something.
Wasn't entirely my thing but also not dreadful either
Really good. A nice surprise. Strong start. Some great songs and a few alright ones. But will definitely come back to this one
My dad loves this but I found it all pretty boring. I have heard Pump it Up so many times and just want it to stop
Really enjoyed this. Fun album from a band I had heard about but never listened to. Will check out some of their other stuff
So boring and too upbeat and cheerful. I don't understand this sort of music. The end was particularly painful
Fine. Nothing particularly exciting on here. Not awful either though
Feels very self indulgent. All the songs are far too long and it is all a bit boring.
Nothing interesting about this
A lot better than expected. The second disc was a bit rubbish. Otherwise would have been 4 *
No
Amazing album. Enjoy every song on this. Even like Orion and I usually hate instrumentals.
The first 3 songs kept getting better and better with Ms Jackson being a great song. Then it became fine until B.O.B. which is amazing. Some great songs but too many interludes and average songs. Bit disappointed by the Killer Mike song too.
Recognised a lot more of these than I expected. I enjoyed it and she has a unique sound. I did listen to this immediately after Lightning Bolt's Wonderful Rainbow so may just seem good in comparison.
It felt like every song had 15 seconds of interesting music that could be used to make good songs. But they would all just loop and had no lyrics to keep your attention. Music without words suck. Anyone who makes music which is described as 'challenging' is just bad at making music. It sounded like you handed a load of rock instruments to a jazz group. Just a load of noises playing over each other
Alex Turner's voice is so distinctive that this just feels like more Arctic Monkeys. There weren't really any stand out tracks. It was all just decent easy listening.
Bland, inoffensive, middle of the road music. The only emotion it made me feel was boredom. Probably 1/2*
I feel like I have heard this exact album a few times now through the 1001 albums. Nothing exciting about it
More funky than jazzy which was a massive relief.
The two Religion songs were some of the worst I have ever listened to. It just felt like an edgy 12 year old explaining why religion is bad. The rest of the album was similarly terrible.
The first Taylor Swift album I've listened to. It was alright. For some reason it sounded to me like she was slightly slipping into a really bad Scottish accent on Closure which I enjoyed. Doubt I'll listen to it again but definitely better than some of the other albums on here.
A trio of pain. Jazz, live albums and it being stupidly long. 2 hours of suffering. At first I hated the host listing names and informing late audience members of what they had missed. Surely you would cut that shit out? Then the screeching never ending noises started and I would have much rather listened to him list the name of every audience member present. Maybe the worst album I have ever listened to. No redeeming qualities.
A great album. A few amazing songs and a handful of decent ones. Karen O has a great voice and I do like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Although I do prefer her colab album with Dangermouse.
A collection of unpleasant noises. The sort of album I expect to be described as 'challenging' i.e. a bit shit. There were 1 or 2 passable songs sprinkled in but not enough to be remotely enjoyable.
I liked Simple Man and Freebird and the rest was okay. Those two were definite standouts though. 3/4*
Couldn't get into this. Felt quite bland
Better than expected. Enjoyed Saturday Night's Alright.
Not terrible but also didn't really enjoy this one
I liked Sunday Shining but couldn't get into any of the other songs
I really hated We Will Fall and was then fed up with the whole album and refused to give it the benefit of the doubt at any other point
Boring. Some old music needs to stay in the past.
Perfectly decent album. Probably won't listen again but was still enjoyable
Didn't expect to recognise any of these. But was surprisingly decent
2 or 3 okay songs and the rest was all dreary moaning
It was fine but not really my thing
I don't think I appreciate this style of music. Maybe I need to listen to more of it but currently don't really get it
A bit boring
Monotone and a tad boring
I enjoyed this one. Nice easy listening rock music
Pretty good album. I particularly enjoyed the weird noises on Child in Time.
Really good. I had only listened to Urban Hymns but this was a pretty good album too, even if not as good as that one.
Some decent songs but too many skits. Dre seems a particularly bad offender for sex skits too
Very famous album which I had never listened to before but was surprisingly okay
Awful. Every song was pain. Butchered House of the Rising Sun too
Bit weird but not bad at all. Nothing really stood out though
Occasionally weird and more interesting than I expected. Not quite enough for me to want to revisit though
U2 are boring
Hurt is obviously very good and I probably prefer the original but the rest was a bit messy for me
There she goes was good and the rest was okay
Short which is always a bonus with a dull album. Very little of any interest going on here. There may have been one okay song
Lust for life and the Passenger are pretty decent and the rest is okay. Fine background music
Mrs Robinson was okay and the rest was incredibly boring
Talented and uninteresting.
Not the worst folk music I've heard but still folk music
Decent. Heard of Perfect day and Walk on the wild side which were definitely my favourite and then the rest was pretty easy listening
None of her very famous songs so I didn't recognise any. Was interesting enough that I never wanted to skip through them all though
I think I recognised a couple of the songs on this and was just generally a better experience than I expected
It was all fine. It all sounded very Foo Fighters like but there weren't any great songs here to make it memorable
The first couple of songs were alright. As was the final song. I wasn't very interested by any of the rest if it though
Not for me and was a live album with all the boring extras which come with that
A classic album with an iconic intro and opening track. Really enjoyed all the WTC features and remembered a lot more tracks from this than I expected
Feels like very safe rock music which never gets that exciting. Not offputting at all but not particularly interesting either.
Never a fan of sex interludes. The rest was good though. I preferred the darker more serious songs such as Suicidal Thoughts at the end. Some great songs but not enough for 5*
Galang was alright but a lot of this was a bit irritating. No cash register song either
I can't remember anything about this album other than not wanting to listen to it agin to rate it properly.
A lot better than expected. i recognised a couple of these and thought it was a solid album. 3/4*
Has a nostalgic enjoyment to it. Kanye's lyrics have never been the best, but I do still like this album and come back to it every now and again. 4/5*
Very strong start to the album and was considering 4/5* for the first few tracks and then it really fell off. The gospel stuff at the end was awful too. Really dragged the whole thing down
Surprisingly good. Reminded me a bit of Fiona Apple. 3/4*
I find this sort of album to be more of a showcase of musical ability than an enjoyable listening experience. I can somewhat appreciate that they are very talented but I don't think it is fun to listen to
I recognised more of these than I expected. Pretty decent album overall
Just straight up boring
Don't understand why he is meant to be such a big deal. His vocals are bad and the songs are fine
Better than a funk album should be. Still nothing more than background music
2 tracks which drag for 38 minutes. The sort of music that just makes you feel angry that you have to endure this simultaneously screechy, painful, slow and boring album. There is variety in the 2 tracks but it is all horrible
This just felt fine. I'd listen to it again but it wasn't that exciting really
Never understood the appeal of U2. Dull but not quite as bad as i expected
I feel like I've seen the artwork for this album loads but never heard it. Was a bit strange but not bad
Not for me
I enjoyed this. Will probably revisit again at some point. Was not at all what I was expecting
Horrible
Cannot enjoy Bob Marley
Really enjoyed a few of these. Glory Box and Roads were definitely highlights. There were a few fairly dull songs inbetween though
It is fine. Not particularly interesting and not offensive to listen.
A bit different but long and uninteresting
Carried a bit by Epic. But was still a decent album other than that standout track
I hadn't listened to the album before but enjoyed it for the most part. Especially Mama Said Knock You Out, although Milky Cereal was a bit of a lowlight for me
5 stars. No explanation needed
Was enjoyable but the whole time I was thinking how I'd prefer a non-acoustic version. Until Where Did You Sleep Last night which was amazing. Stand out track for me.
Dated in every way. Horrible album, even if it is refreshingly short
Fine background music but nothing particularly excited me about this
I don't understand Bob Marley. I feel like I must be missing something as I have found every one of his albums to be boring
Fun hip hop album with loads of weird stuff on. I think it would be improved with cutting out some stuff. Still feel like it deserves a 4 though
I like the woo woo song at the start, but then started to lose a bit of interest throughout. Not bad by any means just not the most interesting
Fine
Not for me
Remarkably varied throughout. Kept on surprising me.
Much more enjoyable than anticipated.
Nostalgia for a lot of the songs on here. Very enjoyable and more of their hits than I expected on this. 4 or 5 *
Fine background music but not particularly interesting or exciting
Impressive and impactful but not completely my thing. Much better than expected though and I can understand the appeal
Far too long. Might have been enjoyable if cut down to a normal length
Started off strong and then became fine. Took me a while to recognise Indian Sunset from Ghetto Gospel
Layla is quite good and the rest was sort of fine. Certainly dragged on too much and felt a little self serving at times
I did find it a little samey. Got distracted and couldn't really tell I had heard most of the album. Didn't really keep me interested
It was okay. Certainly better than I expected it to be. Although, a little longer than I'd have liked
I'm not sure if the album got worse or if I could only tolerate this sort of music for a short while. Either way I was happy for it to end.
Complete nothing music. Everything blended into each other and nothing caught my attention
It was fine
Solid background music.
Was funny and memey sounding for a song or two and then became quite irritating
It is too long and almost sounds like a ridiculous stereotype of a metal album. There were some funny moments on it though
It was decent. Probably 3-3.5
A fun album. Pretty weird at times, but pretty much always enjoyable
No Sympathy was awful. The worst song I have listened to in a very long time. The rest of the album was fine and did enough to drag it up from the 1 which I was close to giving it just for that song
Disappointing so soon after the previous Iron Maiden album on here which was good. Bit too self-indulgent on the guitar solos for me.
I didn’t expect to recognise so many songs. A surprisingly enjoyable album.
I don't enjoy Ice Cube's solowork anywhere near as much as his stuff in NWA. Some pretty questionable lyrics throughout. Some of his rapping and storytelling was great, but I couldn't find myself getting very into any of the songs. They all felt like they were missing a little something. Listening to it after Orbital however has made this feel like a 4* even if that might be a bit too generous
The first and final songs were torturous. It felt like something they would subject prisoners to in Guantanamo Bay. All the 'songs' inbetween were a collection of irritating and repetitive noises. How could anyone enjoy this?
My parents had this and You Could Have It So Much Better on cd. So, there is a nostalgia factor, but I still think it holds up and every song is great. 4/5*
Very strong opener and then fun throughout
A very enjoyable album with a few amazing songs. Fun from start to finish
It was sort of fine. I struggle to maintain any sort of interest throughout a country album. It is fine for a song or two and then drags on
A few great songs and the rest pretty good. Surprisingly enjoyable from start to finish
A struggle. 1/2 *
Decent
