Pink Flag
WireI don’t see the “art-rock” behind. It really sounds very punk. That isn’t a bad thing but I don’t see the “post” to it. Solid album, nothing amazing.

Every song is worth playing. I’ve never really gotten into MJ but I’ve heard at least all the songs released as single at some point. For only 9 songs, this album feels like it has more to it. I get why it’s held in such high esteem. Song rankings after full play through 1) Thriller 2) PYT 3) Billie Jean 4) The Girl is Mine 5) Beat It 6) Human Nature 7) Baby Be Mine 8) Lady in My Life 9) Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin
Started great and they’re amazing vocally but outside of 3 songs it becomes essentially the same song over and over again. It gets repetitive and mundane. Love Is A Hurtin’ Thing Cloud Nine Runaway Child, Running Wild I Need Your Lovin’ Gonna Keep On Trying’ Why’d she have to Leave Don’t let him take your love from me Hey Girl Gotta Find A Way Heard it through the grapevine(it’s honestly the third or 4th best version)
This is definitely the type of album that just isn’t for me. It just sounds like pounding in my ears with the relentless electric sound.
Heavy Metal Drummer Pot Kettle Black Jesus Etc. Radio Cure War on War Kamera Ashes of The American Flag Poor Places I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
This album ends up being timeless. All the poignant lyrics of a time lost and the cheapening of culture continues today. That fact alone makes this listen so much more accessible and incredible. The Village Green Presevation Society Last of the Steam Powered Trains Johnny Thunder Starstruck Wicked Annabella Village Green Sitting by the Riverside Animal Farm Monica Big Sky Phenomenal Cat People Take Pictures of Each Other Do You Remember Walter? All of My Friends Were There Picture Book
Guitar paradise! The gap between top and bottom songs is pretty wide in my opinion but there are a lot of songs in the middle that bolster the album Purple Haze May This Be Love Hey Joe Third Stone From the Sun Remember Stone Free Can You See Me Fire Highway Chile Are You Experienced? I Don’t Live Today Red House Manic Depression Foxey Lady Love or Confusion 51st Anniversary
A wonderful mix of jazz, electric, and Latin sounds. It’s pretty long for an album but I find that more acceptable with a jazz album more than other genre. Chunga’s Revenge El Capitalismo Foraeno Tríptico
Some things don’t need to be remade or adapted to another language. This is one of them. It’s the same reason I watch subs instead of dubs
More of a crowd pleaser than a masterpiece. It’s not necessarily mediocre but it’s not an album I’m looking forward to playing again Just What I Needed Moving in Stereo You’re All I’ve Got Tonight All Mixed Up Bye Bye Love My Best Friend’s Girl Good Times Roll Don’t cha stop I’m in touch with your world
There’s maybe two songs I actually like and the rest I’ll live without ever hearing again.
It’s definitely an album that needs multiple listens to truly get but it’s drawn me in enough to do that.
The lyrics of this record are masterful and Byrne’s vocals are among my favorite in rock and music in general. Life During Wartime Cities Memories Can’t Wait Mind Animals Electric Guitar Heaven Drugs Air I Zimbra Paper
The depth of this album is so subtle throughout its run time. Despite coming out during the Jazz-fusion era it harkens back to an older time in jazz but also manages to add in afro-influences. This album has definitely become one of my favorite jazz records.
It’s an overall solid album. I was never into blur or britpop to begin with but this is a good album, maybe one that can actually get me into that time period of music but for now I’ll stick with grunge
This is the quintessential Britpop album made by arguably the quintessential Britpop band. I could do without the Swamp Songs because they’re just filler imo. The three most well known songs from this album definitely deserve to be their place but there are so many great songs here. I am amazed that “Roll With It” was the single for “The Battle of Britpop” as honestly, I think it’s pretty terrible. Wonderwall Some Might Say Champagne Supernova Don’t Look Back In Anger Cast No Shadow Morning Glory Hey Now! She’s Electric Roll With It Hello Swamp Song V2 Swamp Song V1
I don’t think this album as the same anthems as License to Ill does but this album is the best work of the Beastie Boys
With a debut album as excellent as this, it’s actually sad that this band had such a short lifespan and produced only one more album.
The song writing is excellent throughout even with all the cooks in the kitchen. In My Life The Word I’m Looking Through You Norwegian Wood If I Needed Someone Nowhere Man Run For Life What Goes On You Won’t See Me Drive My Car Wait Girl Think For Yourself Michelle
I like how this has African music in it. It being different is much of the reason to listen to this album but it doesn’t keep your attention because after a while it sounds like music at a tropical themed bar
I love guitar jazz and this is arguably the best guitar jazz album I’ve ever heard. Some tracks drag along the way which is why I give it a 4 but overall the tracks were excellent. This isn’t the easiest album to lay back and listen to but it’s easy to get into.
While this is an innovative record and inspired country music that came afterwards, what came later was just far superior and left this artifact in the dust The streets of Laredo Let the Sad Times Roll On Let the Good Times Roll I’ve got a tiger by the tail Trouble and Me Cryin’ Time The band keeps playing on Wham Bam Fallin’ For You Memphis If You Fall out of love with me Act Naturally A Maiden’s Prayer This Ol’ Heart

The instrumentation carries this album because the vocals, while largely tender and relaxed, seem to fade into the instruments. The instrumentals were enchanting, the vocals were a chore
I don’t see the “art-rock” behind. It really sounds very punk. That isn’t a bad thing but I don’t see the “post” to it. Solid album, nothing amazing.
Easy listening. Very easy to get into and just let it flow over you. Classic, innovative stuff
Original punk rock can be tough to get through decades later. At times this felt more like a buzzkill than the buzzcocks
Definitely love the differing homages to black music history and how the album talks more about social issues rather than what we’ve seen more recently of “sex, guns, bitches, drugs” as mainline topics.
Bruce never disappoints
It’s an outside the box thinking of what a concept album is. I think it’s a creative way to do it. Over its great, a few songs don’t really stack up to what they’re capable of but nonetheless great album
Doesn’t sound too grunge which is nice
Initially I liked the art-house, ambient vibe of the album but that novelty wore away by the fourth song and I had a hard time getting through it
If someone asked me for the most “classic rock sounding” classic rock album, I’d show them this. That’s not meant to be good or bad, just that this album just seems generic. There are some great songs in here and Rodger’s voice is great but a lot of this album feels like an amalgamation of every classic rock idea they could think of.
How many times can one hear a grown man yell “WAAAAOOOOOOWWWWW!” before it grates on their sanity? It seems to me that this is here more for being an influence and being name checked by later bands(notably Kurt Cobain of Nirvana) instead of standing on its own.
This album is fantastic. Between the musical diversity, the greatest voice in rock history, and excellent lyrics this album goes all out all the way to the end
DJ music is not really my thing. It’s fine to have in the background but to listen to on its own, imo, is boring. This album doesn’t break that mold for me.
First time listening to Traffic and this is a great album. It’s really carried by Empty Pages and Glad imo but the other tracks aren’t slouches. The jazz-rock of the entire album was brilliant.
This being Echo’s debut album does underpin the score. It’s not necessarily a bad album itself but when compared to what this band was later able to accomplish, this just doesn’t stack up. Every sound seems to be confined in a small space, there isn’t much variation to anything which makes this record feel repetitive.
This album has really put me onto Mingus. Over the last two years or so I’ve been steeping myself into jazz music and this album goes straight into one of my favorites.
The story of this album is more interesting than the album itself. The sheer amount of material is impressive for someone who spent 6 months in a psych ward but a lot of that is just not that good.
I love how this album has two themes to it and how Queen pulls them off. They haven’t quite become Queen at this time with this album but you can definitely see them transforming into that.
This album definitely gets the point of the project; this is definitely an album everyone should listen to before they die. One of the greatest concept albums of all time, maybe the greatest. The story of this concept has two intriguing and capturing layers that make this album enthralling to listen to; Pink’s backstory and mental breakdown alongside his drug induced authoritarian streak. The two of them mix together so easily, masterful storytelling.
It’s nice to finally listen to an entire Marley album that isn’t a greatest hits one. That being said, I like this album but i see why I wasn’t going out of my way to listen to them. The music is good but not entirely my thing.
It’s hard not to listen to this and not think about that SuperBowl 41 halftime show.
Somewhat hard to nail down in terms of genre as it moves around from song to song. At times it’s just rough to listen to.
This album gets pretty whacky at times and I honestly like the instrumentation but outside of recognizing the beat of “genius of love” and “boardwalk” I didn’t love this album.
If this was a video game soundtrack, I’d love it. Otherwise, no thanks
Having nearly every song be about 5 minutes gets tiring. I was over this album by the third song.
This album set a high bar for itself with “bittersweet symphony” being the opening track. It never got close to reaching that point again.
Lyrically it’s just okay, but the real legacy of this album is making the standard for the beats of west coast rap incredibly high and helped west coast rap make amazing beats throughout the ‘90s
Started off slow but by the end I ended up really enjoying this album
