High Violet by The National

Predictable chord progressions, tuneless singing, whiny sad boi faux-oblique lyrics that aim for profundity, songs that aimlessly build to woeful guitar dirges…gutted that was my first album on here :( Props for some decent drumming throughout

Ramshackle and ineptly recorded - a borderline mess. Curious mixing decisions and parts that sound like first takes played on instruments that are often out of tune. The only consistent thing about it is the complete lack of polish or finesse. That and the obvious ear for melody. Stupendous, loved it

Lower league boomer rock. Kinda cringe. What happens when you record a bunch of session musicians cosplaying at being hip.

Masterpiece. Perfect combination of the accessible and experimental. So many moods and genres covered - it’s impossible to get bored. The Beatles completed music with this one, everything else is sounding dull in comparison
