Love the Jam. Down in the Tube Station feels like late 70s London. Its like punk, but with the edges sanded down, but in a good way.
So excited to see this album pop up.I’ve loved most of the songs on this record for years, but I never sat down and listened to it as one piece of music. What a Marvelous experience. A nearly perfect record, and definitely on my top ten.
Great album. This would get 5 stars, but there are a couple better Talking Heads records, so I have to make a little room.
The first six songs on this record are a real murderer's row, and this is easily one of the best albums of the 90s. It's easy to forget how incredible they sounded in 1991, now that they've been imitated by decades of bands with less talent.
I haven’t listened to a lot of Black Sabbath. I know the hits. Listening to the whole album was a pleasantly surprising experience.
I love the Smiths, but I've never really been able to love Meat is Murder. Headmaster Ritual is great, but the rest of the album was a let down.
There was one exception, however; Andy Rourke's playing thoughout the record was inspired. I don't think I'd really noticed the bass part much in other Smiths songs, but I was consistently blown away by Rourke on Meat is Murder.
It’s performed well enough, but it sounds like the forgettable adult contemporary that was all over the place in the 80s and early 90s.
The record is fine. Nothing that I think I’ll ever listen to again.
Albums like this are why I started doing 1001 Albums. I never would have picked this up on my own, but I’m so glad I did.
I generally like Leonard Cohen, but beyond Suzanne, this album didn't really do anything for me.
Surprisingly good. I particularly enjoyed the cover of Just my Imagination.
Lovely record. Carlos Santana is one of my favorites guitarists, and the percussion on this album is fantastic.
What a great album. I had no idea this band even existed, but they’re a new favorite.
Great album. Completely filled with favorites.
Great album. A real departure from his usual work at the time. All of Me is a stand out.
Fun record, but beyond the singles there’s not a lot there
I enjoyed it, but not a repeat listen.
Enjoyable listen, but not among my favorites.
It sounds like it was well done, but all the songs sound the same and blend together.
Love this record! There have been better punk bands since the Sex Pistols, but to me, almost 50 years later, no band has embodied the punk ethos like they did. God Save the Queen is an absolutely perfect punk song.
Love Blondie, but I think they have better albums.
This is one of my favorite albums. It’s almost 40 years old now, but still manages to sound as fresh as it did in 1988.
What a great record. I think it was the first CD I ever bought. Haven’t listened to it in probably 30 years. It was good to revisit an old favorite.
Fun record. I really enjoyed the sleazy sound.
Lovely. I’ve only gotten in to them recently, and I enjoyed this thoroughly.
I really like the Who, and love a few of the songs on this record, but they could have cut out about half of the tracks. The blues covers, in particular, were really cringey.
Fun record. Not really my thing, but I enjoyed it.
This album was fine. I imagine they’re fun in concert, but this isn’t an album I’ll reach for again.
Great album. A couple of familiar hits, and some lesser known stuff that were a pleasant surprise.
Fun record. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I enjoy the Specials, but I feel like a lot of the songs on this album run together.
Great record. I don’t know how I missed it all this time.
Didn’t love this album. I checked how much was left several times.
I know that they’re an important part of music history, and have had a large influence on modern music, EDM in particular, but I just can’t make myself like Kraftwerk.
This is a good record. Whenever I listen to the Black Keys, I think I should listen to them more, but I never do.
Fun album. I knew his radio songs, but just about all these songs were new to me.
Interesting record. Probably not one I will listen to a lot, but I’m glad I’ve heard it.
It’s ok. Probably not something I would register to.
Fun record. You can hear how much influence he had on later performers.
Great record. Several old favorites and a few new ones.
A couple songs that I recognized. Overall, a good solid soul record.
Fun record. I’ve always liked La Grange, but there are some other great tracks on here too.
I just could not get into this record. Paradise by the Dashboard Light is fun enough, but even that song is pretty ridiculous.
Enjoyable. I miss this kind of country music.
It has a few memorable, cheesy songs that I enjoyed singing along to, but the rest is forgettable. Pump marks the beginning of Aerosmith’s slide into smarmy, cookie-cutter ballads.
Good album. Some of Green Day’s best songs are here, but there’s a lot of filler too.
I like this record. Nowhere close to a favorite, but a nice trip down memory lane.
Great record. Somehow I missed them when they came out, even though I was definitely the target audience.
Love this record. In the running for best hop record of all time. Hit after hit, the only issue I have is the skits between the songs. They were a staple of 90s hip hop, but not one I loved.
Not for me. With exception of the title track, the songs all bled together into an hour long trance-y adult contemporary blur.
This was really fun. Not a favorite, but one I might revisit from time to time.
The album is well made. The performances are good. But it didn’t really do anything for me.
Fun record. I’m not sure why it’s on the list of 1001 albums, but it wasn’t bad.
This was a fun listen, and one of the great things about this project.
Great record. A real mix of sounds, but Zeppelin has better records, and I want to leave room to differentiate.
Not a Cure record I knew very well. But I enjoyed its Moody and atmospheric sound.
Lovely. I don’t think I knew any of the songs, but it was an enjoyable listen.
Best Christmas record ever.
I’ve never been able to get onboard with Eminem. He is undeniably talented, but he applies his talents in a direction that makes it difficult/impossible to enjoy his work.
It’s interesting that there are still bands from the 60s that I haven’t heard of. This was a fun listen.
I don’t love Aerosmith, but I like them. This is the second Aerosmith album I’ve run into on this platform, and neither was one that I would pick.
Great record. Front to back quality.
Good record. I haven’t listened to anything other than Closer or Hurt in years. I’m glad I had to today.
I love Velvet Underground, but I just can’t get into Lou Reed’s solo work.
I enjoyed this record. Much more approachable thank some of their other work.
Good record. I don’t think there’s any such thing as a bad Jimmy Hendrix record.
If you had told me that this was your friend’s pub band, I would easily believe you. Nothing about this album sounds like something I have to listen to before I die.
It was ok. Most of it wasn’t available, but liked what I heard enough.
Great record. Filled with hit songs
I can’t believe this album is one I have to listen to before I die. Dull and soporific, I almost drove the car into a ditch.
I’m not sure I ‘get’ Tom Waits. People love him, but I side from a couple songs, I really don’t understand.
He is a talented rapper, but I don’t think any songs really stand out as being great on this album, with the possible exception of Method Man, which was already on Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers).
My favorite Zeppelin album. Love every track.
This is ok. I didn’t dislike listening to this record, but it didn’t really do anything for me either.
So many favorites here. And others I didn’t know well before.
I’ve never really listened to anything by Arcade Fire. It was good, but it’s not really for me.
Love this record. I think most REM albums would be a 4 or 5 star record.
This is another one that I don’t really understand how it got on a list like this.
Great record from another band that I had never heard of until today.
One of the best albums to come out of the 90s alternative scene, if not THE best. Two hours long, but it still manages to maintain a cohesive sound and vibe that makes the longer run time fly past.
John Lydon is the worst, but this record isn’t. I fully expected to hate it, and I did hate Religion I. But the rest of the album was kind of good.
Not great. Every song sounds the same.
Fun album. I’m familiar with the Kinks, but not with most of the songs on this album.
Nice record, but it’s missing one or two great songs. The songs on the record are all pretty similar.
I liked this record. I knew “There She Goes”, but the rest of the album was great too.
I miss this kind of hip hop.
It’s incredible that this can be the fourth or fifth best Dylan album and still be this good. It has all-time great songs like Subterranean Homesick Blues and Maggie’s Farm.
One of my favorites. There are no bad songs here.
I was prepared to hate this. I’m not a fan of this kind of scream-singing. But the music, incorporating sounds and rhythms that aren’t common in metal, is outstanding.
I like this album a lot, but not as much I feel like I’m supposed to.
I’ve never loved Dinosaur Jr. I’ve seen them in concert 35 years ago, and I enjoyed it, I think, but I never bought the albums or sought them out. Listening to this record doesn’t feel like something that will change that.
It’s fine. It doesn’t stand out at all from the rest of the late nineties alternative pretenders.
