“What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.” Billy Madison (1995)

If 1 had a sound, it would sound like this.1*

9/21/26. Definitely a great introduction to drum n bass. Although the rhythm pattern gets familiar throughout, loved the ambient moments and melodies. Will definitely revisit this and explore the genre more.

Timeless - 1 Saint angel - 2 State of mind - 2 This is a bad - 2 Sea of tears - 1 Jah the seventh seal - 1 A sense of rage - 1 Still life - 2 Angel - 2 Adrift - 1 Kemistry - 1 You & me - 2 Inner city life (baby boy's edit) - 3 Inner city life (rabbit's short attention span edit) - 2

I suppose if this is the sort of music you are into, then it's probably top-tier. Not for me, 'Jah the Seventh Seal' was a particularly tedious track. Why do all of these electronica albums have to be double albums and run close to two hours ::crying emoji::

Fit right in with a late 90s early 00s racing video game

Day1022 - not anything i’d wanna try listening to a second time but i thought the production was good

Felt never ending

How did this get made into an album? Who allowed this?

ok, aber wenig packend.

Etwas verstaubt und nicht so meines

At nearly two hours long it took a long time to listen to this. Every track seemed to go on for ages. I Don't think Timeless was the correct name for this album. This would have been a far better album if was half the length. Anyway songs were OK but nothing jumping out 5 out of 10

Oh my god. What have I done to deserve a two hour long drum and bass track?? Just smite me at this point dude. Fuck my fucking chungis life. I mean it's definitely not bad or anything it's just video game music. I could not be motivated to care about this if I tried. Favourite: State of Mind Least favourite: Jah the Seventh Seal

No longer timelines but captures a moment in time.

Holly shit, that was way too fucking long for no real reason, if I wasn’t hearing it while doing something else I swear to god, I wouldn’t be able to bare it.

TOO LONG 3

I think the length of this album hurts it, it could have used editing down to a more impactful piece.

This makes me sad. Prior to today, I had a streak of twelve consecutive albums in this generator that I gave at least a three-star rating. These albums ranged from the country of Mali, to The Beatles(and other popular artists), to the least popular artists you can think of, to a one-album wonder, to another British Electronica album. I really tried not to, I did. You all have to trust that I didn't want this streak to end. However, all streaks come to an end eventually. At the very least, this album was innovative, but the tracks were soooo boring, and the album was wayyyy too long(I know shorter versions of this album were released, but I'm an original album purist). I had no choice, but to end my streak. Favorite Track: "Adrift".

The worst of Neo soul and breakbeat slapped together. Even though I dig electronica, industrial, and dance, I was never into this album when it came out. I think a far more relevant album from this period of drum n'bass and breakbeat, was Plaid's PEEL SESSION from 1998.

this album could have been an email

Like sitting in a bar with a long list friend hearing about his life

hyped at first , first track with inner city , jah and the other one was lit. couldn’t remember a single other song - not bad music but just doesn’t stand out. Did bits for the scene +5 respect

Absolutely fantastic LP, some tracks are misses here and there but the majority of what's on here is bloody brillaint.

Except some small tunes nothing to hold my attention. Therefore even by skipping almost every track 105 minutes!!!! are far too long. I think track number four fits better as album title ==> "This Is A Bad" 1,5

I like Saturnz Return better but this album is classic and was important in the dissemination of drum n bass and jungle music.

I didn't vibe with this album. I couldn't get in to the beats and the choices made in the songs with different sounds and singing. While not bad in a way that it hurts to listen to it just isn't for me at all.

Too much electronic… artificial touch, It is no music for me Even sometimes the rythm isn‘t bad. 1.5

Not my type of music…

The title track saves this from being an absolute snoozefest.

Not quite my cup of tea, but still cool and innovative. I respect the talent although i don’t really like the music. 77/100

Great early electronic album!

Good fun. Hard to really form a strong opinion on something so long after one listen, but I enjoyed it!

I generally like this sort of thing, but I do think that they're asking a lot from people to listen to nearly two hours of average drum and bass tracks. I do enjoy how atmospheric this album is at times. Reminds me of Metroid music. There's a good album in here somewhere but I don't really feel like searching for it. Favorite track: Inner City Life - Baby Boy's Edit

Enjoyed some in the background - would not choose to listen

When I looked down at the track info 8 minutes in and saw I wasn’t even half way through track 1, I knew I was in for a bad time. Decent enough drum and bass ruined by ridiculously extended meandering runtimes that induce boredom.

I'm likely not the best judge of this one... Interesting and fine, but doesn't feel like a huge breakthrough in contemporary drums or electronic music. 2+?

There are occasional (very occasional?) moments of interest, but it’s pretty bland in the main. Can something be aggressively bland? Far too long.

I wasn't the happiest when I saw the runtime (I feel like I've been getting a lot of long albums recently), though it do by fast with very little tuning out of it happening. I think this has some nice songs here and there but I don't think drum and bass is a genre that I feel too great about at the moment. Though I can fully understand the appeal of this sub-genre of drum and bass, and I suppose that there's something a bit nice about aggressive drums with floating, calm, atmospheric elements. I don't think this is an album that I would return to. Highlight Song/s: "State of Mind" and "Adrift"

Godfather of drum and bass. Definitely glad I've listened to it. There is a time and place. Well definitely revisit.

My patience for the robot sounds wanes as the overlords produce more capable machines, and we, too often gleefully, titillated, let them take more and more of the tasks that make living worthwhile. Like playing music. Seven minutes shy of two hours of this reminder that hordes of people have no need for humanity in the art they choose to consume?I made it to 15:43 and felt like weeping.

You can dance for a long time.

Duas horas de musicas “trevosas”, algumas boas, outras insuportáveis. Nao deu pra mim, ouvi duas e me dei por satisfeito.

Gute Musik für nebenbei, nichts für's aktive Hören. Wenn man mal 2 Stunden fokussiert arbeiten will, könnte dieser Soundtrack dafür ideal sein.

Sea of tears surprised me with its quality

0:30 - oh no 1:00 - jesus christ, only twenty to go 1:41 - different boring chords 2:44 - oh no ... 5:04 - maybe it's done early 5:09 - nope ... 6:11 - maybe it's done early 6:14 - nope ... 9:58 - jah ... ... ... 14:44 - i am worried i accidentally started the track over 14:46 - i have not, a sigh of relief compounded by the dread of six remaining minutes plus the five other songs ... 19:35 - hang in there, you can do it ... 20:43 - i hope the rest aren't this long saint angel - :| state of mind - blank this is bad - yup sea of tears - :'''( jah the seventh seal - kill me jah, take me now there's something about calling an album "timeless" that would sound incredibly dated within in a few years, never mind in 2026. no wonder this guy is in one of the worst bond films.

Genuinely fuck right off

I'm not sure why this is considered "groundbreaking in the history of drum and bass music", to be fully honest. It's a good record with varied soundscapes and good production. The effects and sounds are good. Most of the songs have just enough variety to keep it from getting boring. But... "groundbreaking"? in what respect? would be my main question. Maybe it's just not what I like about this type of music... I prefer heavy beats and bass and if it has lyrics, I prefer full lyrics, not chanted, repeated vocals. This is more mellow and mid-tempo with "some" heavy parts, so it just isn't what I'd reach for if I were in the mood for this music. That being said, it was a good listen and there isn't really anything to NOT like.

ive been wanting to get more into drum and bass music so i'm glad the website gave me this one :) this was just really solid all around, i love those ethereal synth pads they used to use and the drums of course are awesome. there was also a female vocalist on this as well and her voice was really nice. added to my library

Love a bit of drum n bass on a Sunday train trip to Liverpool

More multi-layered than the repetitive beats of drum 'n' bass and not as relentless as the 120bpm of House music. How do you dance to this? Great album.

Endless rather than timeless. Yawn

⭐ Drum n bass.

I was digging it, but I didn’t finish it. If I circle back to it I’ll circle back here as well.

Timeless

There is a track on jere called "This is bad." That sums this almost two hour monstrosity up.

Bon album de jungle même si quelque longueurs

Maybe good to have on in the background while you work but didn't find anything particularly interesting about this one.

No. Too chill

It was fine, very safe jungle music. Worked well enough for background music.

One of my first forays into electronic music I love it its great to turn up really loud and hear all the space sounds all around you and I love the beats

Dios sabe que lo intenté, pero con la primera canción de 20 minutos y dos más tuve suficiente.

Why am I feeling like a 13 year old playing a psychedelic first person shooter in a pentium 2? Is it 1998?

Keeps repeating itself

todas las canciones suenan igualmente mal

This was an interesting one. I really liked some of the tracks, but felt other tracks went on a little long. If it was a tighter album, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

Electronica.... The most over represented genre on the list. Not a fan. I don't understand why it's here.

UK people of a certain vintage will associate the name “Goldie” as belonging to one of the iconic Blue Peter kids tv pets of the 1970s, which is why I was slightly surprised to find today that Mr Goldie was the same age as me so would have presumably grown up watching the show as well. Maybe he just likes Golden Retrievers? Anyhoo, this album is a wildly ambitious debut that mostly lands. Mostly. Drum ‘n’ bass is something of an acquired musical taste, with a lot of similarities with the complex mathematical patterns of Steve Reich or the manic high energy drumming of hard bop jazz. Goldie (with production by Rob Playford) also layers in some lush electronica and vocals from Diane Charlemagne and Lorna Harris. The overall effect ranges from hypnotic to being overwhelming in places, but always intriguing.

Amazing drums and bass. The softer vocals and atmospheric bits work so well with them. Loved this!

not for me. kind of anxiety inducing. also there is no need for a 25 minute opening track!! you can separate that out!!

Migraine inducing or migraine sustaining, I don’t know it’s a blur to me now. I now understand that the word groundbreaking when it’s a genre I don’t like is meaningless. I don’t think it helped that I listened to the double album by accident. It had it’s highs, state of Mind is lovely and got me musing on what ever happened to good ole Goldie but then soon after another heavy dance track started and I decided I just didn’t care.

I just don't know how anyone says, "you know what I really want to hear some drum & bass today". I mean 25 years ago out for an all-niter hopped up on pills with the lights going in the rave sure but just sitting around the house, someone blow my f'ing brains out! It is just the same sound for 2 hours. I am doing the vinyl version, I can't take this for that long.

Drum & Base can be pretty decent at times but hard to navigate when sober, especially when the album is NEARLY 2 HOURS LONG. Lost a star for that fact alone, nae time for that level of self indulgence.

So dull. I’ll give it 1 extra star just because I could ignore it fairly easily as background music

I don't think I do the right kind of drugs to really enjoy EDM, although this wasn't terrible.

Genre I don't care for, the first track is 21 minutes, and the run time is an hour and 53 minutes. It never had a chance 1.5/5

Honestly, decent soundtrack to not really listen to while I'm locking in on work tasks. When I was actually listening to what was going on, there were some really weird choices.

Best Track - "Inner City Life"

It's cool that this is 1995 I know this must have melted faces but it's not really my taste and omg way too long lol

I like goldie he’s a cool and sweet guy, who paints and now does yoga. but this music doesn’t work for me, it feels un-synchronised and chaotic. It’s the same sounds repeated over and over again with songs that just don’t need to be that long

This is so boring

I wouldn't mind it being shorter, but I appreciate it is one of the most important drum'n'bass albums. Not exactly my thing but definitely belongs on this list

Fine, drum and bass might not be my flavour anymore, but it was still interesting going back to the roots of the genre I grew to love so much in my late teens. Timeless (the track) is as the name suggests, truly timeless and you can tell how much it influenced the modern scene. I was worried about its length (and the length of the album for that matter), but it maintained my attention really well. The rest of the album suffered a little, mainly because it’s not my music anymore as I said, but also because of the absurd runtime. I will say that State of Mind was a wonderful change of pace, with its jazzier, neo-soul feel.

I don't know how to judge this? If I were in a club with a little something to get me dancing/doing/being sweaty, i think I might enjoy it, even if there are long stretches when the music kind of peters out...not really dancing but probably catching one's breath. But as simply a listening (not dancing) exercise...yeah, it kind of sucks. I made it through the first song (almost 21 minutes) but wondered if that's all? Okay, I am not in a club, I am not high on anything, and now I want to hear/listen to the next album (Neu! 75). That's not good, right? I don't think I can make it for another hour and a half (or so) for just listening? Sorry, I don't see how this rates as a simple listening experience. And I am not going out clubbing any time soon... (3 "I am shrugging my shoulders" stars?)

I like this type of music it just reminds me of a 90's movie. I never heard of the artist but I'm saving this album.

2 hours of techno music? Fuck off.

Saturday, 12 September, 2026 Do you remember that episode of Friends where Ross plays “his sound”? Turns out he recorded an album. Not really. This has some good parts. But I definitely didn’t need 80 minutes of it.

Crazy how this is foundational to drum n bass but I can hear some ideas and tricks I haven't really caught anywhere else. Super fun listen, but the last half hour or so did start to drag, I think an hour of DnB at a time is all most people can handle.

Self indulgent, grating, overstays it's welcome, "just because we can" musicality... In other words, my kind of music! As an album, obviously it could be shorter, but this music is excellent for tickling all the parts of my brain that need engaging while I'm doing something monotonous.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooof. 2 hours of this

One of those albums that makes me think the original Donkey Kong Country soundtrack deserves to be on this list. The sound is missing something. It's a bit thin. Seems like a good example of a thing. Superfluous track lengths.

OK, wouldn't listen again

This is like sexy 2000s "gen x soft club" rave music, and also grotty basement mixes, and also Chumbawamba's "Small Town".

puse el primer tema y dejé de escuchar el álbum, después escuché todos los temas por arriba y es música de viedeojuegos, parece geometry dash

I find the drums stressful. Weird combination of chill out Melodies and harmonies with fast and stressful drums

Nope... Inte ett helt album. Inner city life är ju bra men den kommer ju igen i alla låtar typ, blir lite tradigt. Orkade inte lyssna klart. Bra beats förstås och dansigt men som sagt: orkar inte ett helt album med detta.
