3.25 - There are some good moments, but I think I'm more of a "greatest hits" Beastie Boys fan.
3.25 - Several classics, but I like this less than I want to.
4.25 - Oh, okay. Maybe I do like this band. I thought Maps was their best song, buts it’s Heads Will Roll and I didn’t know that was their song.
2.5 - I liked it about as much as Transformer, which again was way more than I expected.
1.75 - I like some metal, just not this metal.
2 - I don't mind ambient music, but I don't necessarily think I needed to hear this album before I die.
5 - I didn't need to re-listen to this to give it five stars, it's one of my favorite all time albums by my favorite band. I've heard every song on this album performed live by the band at least once (Oceans) up to 35 times for Alive (there was one show where they didn't play it).
1.5 - I’ve heard a lot worse, but I didn’t really care for this.
3.25 - I've never really listen to any Wu-Tang or Wu-Tang adjacent music, but this was pretty good. Too many skits/filler, which is normal for the era.
3.75 - What album to listen to right after finishing Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. My appreciation of jazz has soared after three years of four years of attending high school jazz band concerts for my son.
4 - I don't listen to rap music very often, but these songs are undeniable.
3 - I think I like the concept of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a lot more than I actually like listening to a full album by them. A few songs are really good. Just lots of untapped potential to be something I'd love.
4 - I’m just now noticing that this list has a lot of live albums on it. That seems wrong for a list like this. Would greatest hits count? Some live albums are so special that I think it makes sense to include them, but maybe not this many. Anyway, this one is very good. The may jam just a bit too much though.
2.75 - It was okay. Maybe I'll like the other two Jimi albums on this list better.
1.5 - Country music just isn't for me. It's not unlistenable or anything though.
3.5 - I think of the song La Grange every time the nearby Kentucky city comes up. This was an enjoyable listen.
3 - This was a very pleasant listen, but it's not something that I'm ever going to choose to put on again.
3.75 - I've never heard of this band before and I was intrigued by their sound. I need to listen to this more.
3.75 - That was a really enjoyable first listen.
2.5 - This is not what I expected Iggy Pop to sound like. It's okay.
1.75 - I like a lot of punk music, just not the Clash maybe.
3.25 - It's weird listening to an album like this where three of songs are very, very popular and familiar and the rest of the album is not familiar at all. It's also the case for me that I've heard those familiar songs more as covers or edited clips leading into episodes of CSI, so it's a strange listen. It's fine overall and occasionally epic.
1.5 - Not for me, but it would at least be useful as background music while trying to concentrate.
3.25 - I really want to like R.E.M. more than I do. I did really like their last album, Collapse Into Now, but I find every big album that people tell me is amazing to be hit or miss. There are some great songs here and some that are just mid.
2.25 - I’m more familiar with subsequent albums. This holds up better than Run DMC, but I was a bit disappointed in this.
1.5 - It had a few moments, but not near enough.
2.5 - This is fine, but it feels out of place on this list.
3.25 - Pretty good. I was surprised to learn that this was a female-fronted band.
2.75 - I thought I would recognize more from this.
3.25 - Decent, but not as fun as I thought it would be.
4.75 - Look, I don't consider myself an AC/DC fan and I've never listened to them on purpose before today. These songs are just too iconic, influencial, omnipresent, and (in some cases) good not to rate the album at 5 stars.
3.75 - I like this a bit more than the other album I've listen to recently.
2.75 - Decent. Not what I expected.
4.25 - Who doesn’t like Sam Cooke??
3.25 - Not wholly what I expected from a Temptations album. It's good though.
2.75 - I've never heard of the Soft Boys before. This was fine.
1.75 - Not at all what I expected from a Bee Gees album. It felt like Christmas music at times.
3.25 - I thought I would like it more than I did.
3.25 - I like it a good bit, I just wish there were more substance and less experimentation.
3.5 - Another band I should probably do a deep dive on. I like all of these songs.
3.25 - This was a nice listen. Lots of stuff I recognize.
3.75 - I should listen to more Dire Straits. I'm always taken off guard by the slurs in Money for Nothing much like listening to that Green Day song. Even thought I get the reasons for including them, I think there are more reasons not to do it.
3.25 - Solid first listen.
3.75 - I think that I need to hear this in the context of the film now.
1.75 - Praise You is very good. Most everything else is too repetitive, but I liked this a lot more than The Chemical Brothers.
4 - This plays like a greatest hits album. Almost every song I know and enjoy by them is included.
1.25 - I listened to this in the car and a few times, I thought I was breaking down. It turns out the song just had some unnatural and unnecessary elements. I can dig some of the experimental elements, but there wasn’t a lot here that I would want to hear again.
2.75 - Solid, but the the songs that I didn't know already didn't do a lot for me.
2.5 - I thought I would hate this based on what I heard in the documentary from a few years ago. Not bad.
2.5 - I wanted to like this more. Maybe I would if I gave it a few more listens.
4 - My relationship with Radiohead is that I thought Creep was just okay and Karma Police bored me when I first saw the video. Then I would hear bits of pieces from albums like "In Rainbows" that sounded no better. At some point when you could have custom ringtones for different people, someone asked me to use "Paranoid Android" and I liked it a lot more than I expected, but I still didn't really dig further. I was just convinced that they weren't really for me.Slowly, I've heard songs in Instagram posts or musician breakdowns of particular songs that have lead me to think I need to do a deep dive. Thankfully this challenge has most of their discography, so I'll get my chance. Having listened, we're off to a good start. I liked it a good bit.
1.75 - This album is 40 years old and it’s sounds it. It has a few good songs, but it’s mostly dated and cringy.
4 - I liked this a lot more than when I listened to it in 2010.
1.25 - Every time I thought something sounded cool, it either repeated for far too long or an annoying sound effect or lyric was layered over top of it.
3 - I've never heard of this band before, but it was pretty good. There were several songs that sounded familiar.
3.5 - I did not expect the stylistic difference between songs I know by the Rolling Stones and what I heard on this album.
2.25 - I’ve never been a big Beck fan. I like a handful of these songs, but I was kind of bored overall.
3.25 - I've never heard of this person before. I loved some of the tracks, but I was so-so on the ones with the heavier reggae sound.
2.25 - I haven't listen to a lot of Fleetwood Mac, but I love Rumours. I'm disappointed that I didn't like this more.
2.25 - Better than expected, but still not my jam.
If every song we’re like the title track, I will give it four or five stars
1.5 - Hoo-boy, not for me at all. I would give it an extra half star if possible, because I can see how some people would like this and the musicianship is good.
I had only listened to newer albums by this band, but this was good.
1.25 - There are some good riffs, but I really can't stand these vocals.
Why aren't there more flute solos in rock songs?
4.5 - I wish this were on a 10 point scale, but it's closer to a 5 than a 4. It's my third favorite Unplugged behind Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains.
4.25 - I usually listen to Californiacation, By The Way, or even One Hot Minute when I’m j the mood for RHCP. The non single tracks are in some cases a lot better and in other cases a lot worse than I remember.
3.25 - Several bangers. Better than their other albums.
1.75 - There were some moments of this album that really worked for me, but a much larger portion that did not.
4.75 - I didn't listen to this album for the first time until that guy went viral riding a skateboard and drinking cranberry juice set to Dreams. I could listen to Dreams on repeat for a week and not get sick of it. This album is like a damn greatest hits. I don't understand Mick Fleetwood's dangling balls on the cover here though.
4 - I did not realize that all of these songs I knew were on the same album.
3 - I owned this album like many kids at the time, but I doubt I would have ever listened to it again if not for this app. There are some good songs and a lot of nostalgia. Too much filler though.
2.25 - I liked it more than I expected and I found the styles to be more diverse than I thought it would be. I really didn't expect Kent State protest song. I still don't see this as something I would choose to listen to on a regular basis.
3 - I didn't realize that this was the guy from Steely Dan. I really enjoyed the music, background vocals, and general vibes. I don't love the lead vocals.
2 - Not bad, but not my style. Skits are rarely a good idea.
3.5 - I get his voice isn't for everyone, but enjoy his music quite a bit. His connection to Pearl Jam certainly doesn't hurt.
3.25 - This was an enjoyable listen. I was surprised by how many tracks I recognized.
4.25 - I've heard the name Lupe Fiasco before, but I had no idea what to expect. I absolutely loved "Kick, Push," I was surprised to learn that I knew a song ("Daydreaming'"), and I love the the thoughtful lyrics throughout, but especially in "American Terrorist." This could be a 5 star album with a few more listens.
4.25 - I should have listened to this a long time ago.
3 - A bit bloated and I don't like it as much as I feel like I should.
3 - Her voice is amazing. It makes me feel unsophisticated that I don't like this more.
1.25 - I just really don't like reggae music, especially the repetitive sounds. I think the content of these songs are good/important though.
3.75 - Good stuff. Probably the first time I’ve listened to BB.
2.75 - Fine. I’m still thrown off every time I hear “Fanny” in that song.
1.5 - Again, not for me. It is much better than some electronic music.
2.5 - I’m not a no on Yes, but I’m not a yes on Yes either. I enjoyed some of the prog rock moments, but not the mixing with classical music.
4.25 - I don't consider myself a Boston fan, but these songs are pretty epic. The vocals and riffs are pretty great, even in the lesser known songs.
3.5 - I'd like this morning without the skits (at this point, this can probably be assumed), but the songs are pretty good.
2.25 - A few good songs. Mostly just okay. My biggest takeaway is that Supertramp and Superchunk are different bands.
