this is an example of why i cannot write off an album before i have listened to the whole thing. the first 8 songs were pretty unenjoyable but then “we’re going to be friends” came on which was very enjoyable and i wouldn’t have found it had i stopped listening to the album

finally a modern album lol. i actually love janelle but have never listened to their music so i am really excited. okay 1/3 through and i am enjoying the album even though its different than i had originally expected. okay im loving this way more than i thought i would.

as someone who listens to a lot of hip-hop/rap i wish i enjoyed more og rap. i think it’s interesting because a lot of the production on this album was similar to artists i really enjoy like the refugees and lauryn hill.

i actually have this album on vinyl and have enjoyed it. i usually listen to these albums with my headphones which always feels more immersive. honestly way shorter than i thought it would be. crazy how you can just imagine this music really giving off a strong emotion in the background of an old black and white movie
