White Light / White Heat
The Velvet UndergroundOh fuck off
Oh fuck off
Easily the most influential album of my childhood + teen years, one of my all-time favorites. No way to say how much this record means to me. Every note feels measured and intentional without losing any of the emotion behind it. And of course, I'm a sucker for a good theme. Wake Up, Tunnels, and Backseat send a chill down my spine a thousand listens later. I love you, Arcade Fire.
First know that I'm not a proghead so I had no idea who these dudes were, nor did i understand wtf was going on for the entire duration of this album. Usually i have zero patience for these meandering, self indulgent 20 min tracks. But unlike the allman bros, this was actually fun and entertaining to listen to. so, based on my enjoyment of the experience rather than my actual knowledge of the music, i'm giving this a 5. deal with it
I don't have the musical sense to understand why this is good. I'm sure that to many people, this is an objective masterpiece -- otherwise it wouldn't be on this list. But I don't really have the patience for twenty minute-long jam band sessions. At best, I'd put it on as background study music.
"have I carved enough, my lord?" "child, you are a bone."

solid classic rock joint. not life-altering but super enjoyable!
Baller! Nothing to dislike here, many instant classics
I really liked this. I feel a bit silly for convincing myself that I "didn't like metal" even though I had never really given it a try. It's definitely not something that I could listen to all-day-every-day, but a lot of the songs pack a real punch and I loved the political lyrics.
Didn't do much for me
this just rules. I don't know anything about this genre of music, and I'd never heard of Chao, but this was such an enjoyable experience. it's sort of beneficial that I feel like I don't know what's going on (due to both language and genre), because I can get very lost in the music!
pretty good! predictably, the songs with the most plays were my favorites.
honestly a bit underwhelming ... ofc the popular songs were enjoyable, but not really affecting. other stuff didn't hit at all and many of the songs were needlessly long.

"have I carved enough, my lord?" "child, you are a bone."
I had to take a break in the middle to listen to Nelly because I was bored
Short and sweet. Totally my shit.
Remember when this guy advocated for the death of Salman Rushdie via death fatwa
o woman you
sad I didn't like it more bc I love The Killing Moon so much.
needs a second listen
Good, but not as fun as manu chao. Songs sound nice but dont really stick out to me
Listened to this album twice before -- O woman you!! But the end lags a little bit. I love the energy of precious things, happy phantom, and girl :)
excellence
Some bangers but not really my type of music
superFUN!
i don't know how to rate this, but it FEELS awesome, so i bet it IS awesome. Also this dude had like 27 wives
meh
Van The Mothafuckin Man
Don't mess w the best
Pretty fun. Drags a little in the 2nd half
I loved it. Wouldnt change a thing.

Ti esrever dna ti pilf nwod gnaht ym tup i
I just adore this album. it's twee as fuck, and I don't care!! It's awesome!! I feel weird giving it 5 stars because I think their output continues to improve in the next two releases, but ... oh well!
2nd half lags a little but a classic
U know how i feel abt these jam albums. Also im becoming harsher i feel like a grumpy old man
a little corny 😫
too long, did not stand out to me
snore
Took a nap to this and it was the most peaceful 55 mins of my life
She's cute but she's no Unknown Pleasures
4/5
Fuck it
I like donald fagen but it felt a bit samey. no real "wow" moment.
"both of us" and "it doesn't matter" were bangers, but that's only 2 bangers out of 21 songs, or approximately 1/10th banger. that math adds up to NO MORE than 2 stars. sorry stephen </3
Okay coldplay stans ... you win this time ...
Oh fuck off
yawn
I rock with iron maiden now
Primordial Jeff Buckley?! But a little too long
snore
Didn't finish. it wasn't awful, just ... not my speed at all.
Weird lil album
This is just reflektor but 4 years late and not as awesome
Flames
Tight. Obv they can't all be silver springs, won't fault the other songs for that ... no reason to give less than a 5.
Invented being down bad
Bombs over baghdad greatest song of the 2000s
Mid
I cant. im sorry but i cant. 12 minutes ... yes i know you're THE frank zappa ... but i need to stop letting men convince me to listen to songs over 7 mins ... this is getting ridiculous
I really loved this. I don't think I fully absorbed it, but I'm going to give it a 5 because there's nothing i DIDN'T like about it, and I think I'll continue to like it more and more as I re-listen.
Cool but not my thing
pleasant
Punk fucking rock
Delightful
I feel bad bc i really liked the first album of theirs i listened to (...Like Clockwork), but this didn't affect me as much and felt a little bit too long. "If Only" and "Avon" were my favorites.
Snooze
Flames. Shockingly modern.
San Quentin, I hate every inch of you!
Otherside is one of the greatest songs of all time. But this is a little too long :,(
I love the cure ... I really do! But there's only two songs on here I would revisit.
The Whale bangs in the whip
It was okay. I don't think it deserves to be on this list, but I don't want to be a hater. So let's go with a 3.
Only david bowie could make a 10 minute song that I would actually choose to listen to multiple times
Sorry
I appreciate their influence on later groups like Iron Maiden that are more my speed. Unfortunately this doesn't do a whole lot for me. Nothing personal !!
Little too long
Good but didn't hit the same as my slime shivkumar sharma. I am woefully unqualified to speak on this topic. Plz disregard arbitrary star rating
No brainer
Ignore my arbitrary rating :P
Slay i guess!
Ok
Wish she was iron maiden
I am so bored of these eric clapton albums
I like weird stuff! But i probably wouldn't listen again
Perfectly pleasant
Lovely
All three stars are for Going to California
Jojo
Didn't know anything about them beyond Insane in the Brain but I liked this a lot. Boom bap rules.
Mali <3
It wasn't even bad but i'm resentful that u think i needed to listen to this before i die
Midness
I'm not one of those anti-country music people, I'm really not! But this was just a little bit too hokey for me. And like, Marty Robbins is just some guy from the suburbs of Phoenix. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with writing as a character, and to his credit he did actually write a few of these tracks, but I found neither the songs nor his performance of them to be remarkable. The important point is: why did I need to listen to this before I die? Why is it really necessary?
Bruh ðŸ˜
Sadly it didnt really stand out to me
Srry i listened to this over the summer so i don't feel like relistening but it's pretty good?! But not enough for a 4
Fun! Only george clinton can pull off a song called The Doo Doo Chasers
I don't know how to react to that information
Fiye
I Got No Thoughts On This
I Got No Thoughts On This
Obviously
If i say dirty mind is better will i be stoned in the town square
Im sure I will like this a lot more on re-listen i just don't really care right now. LOL. Like i get it bob. I get it. You are bob dylan. Happy for you.
Idk why but this did nothing for me. I probably need to re listen? I like some of their other songs so idk why this was so meh for me.
Im getting tired of this guy ngl
I cant explain it but this really works for me
Track 10 is insane
Ok
The critics weren't lying
God forbid a white guy catch a vibe
Holy shit i forgot how good this album is
Dont play with me
It seems I wore my long legs today
Truth nuke
Worth a listen for hip hop samples i guess ðŸ«
