Lucinda Williams
5/5
Simply Awesome! Loved this album and can’t believe I have never heard it before. I have heard of Lucinda Williams but didn’t know anything about her our her music. She’s Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlisle, She is awesome. I will share this album with friends and listen to it again and again. Now I need to listen to more of here music.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
4/5
I hate to admit it, I was ready to dislike this album. It couldn’t get released today with those lyrics…but the further the album went on, the more catchy it became. I’m a big fan….a closet fan maybe.

Another album that surprised me a little. I enjoyed this album and many of the songs on it. I could listen to it again if I were in the mood. I’d call this a decent album.

Ghostface Killah
3/5
Wow!! It is hard to listen to this album. I’m not sure why the black community thinks this is a tribute to them. It certainly describes the plight that they are in. But the way that they refer to themselves and their women, their kids, their mommas…..How can that be empowering? I can hear some of the musicality and how clever some of the lyrics are. I also love the continuity of the album and how they tie each song to the next. I just can’t how the lyrics are tolerated.

Heard this album within days of it being released…if it weren’t for the last 2 tracks, this might be a perfect album. I love this album and it deserves accolades.

This music really is in my wheelhouse so I believe I’ve rated
It higher than some. Great melodies and interesting lyrics from the time period. I’d sit down and listen to this album again and really enjoy it
Paul McCartney and Wings
4/5
I enjoyed the album. His music is so easy to listen to. Aside from the first two songs, nothing really stands out on this album. But you can’t help but get sucked in to his cool melodies. I’ve always preferred his music with the Beatles, but he created music you could play at a concert. There is really nothing to dislike about the album…it just doesn’t give me chills. That’s what will make my 5’s in this rating system. It’s a 4 star album to me.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
3/5
I’ve never been a huge Neil Young fan and listening to this album doesn’t ,make me a bigger fan. It is rock…it’s message rock that is appropriate for the time but It’s not great. I can see why people like it…guitar is awesome in it. Just wouldn’t put this album in my rotation.
Tears For Fears
4/5
Wow! I had this album when it was released. I remember the big 3 but had little recollection of the rest of the album. Those are 3 of the most iconic songs of the mid 80’s. The rest of the album is melancholy with a lot of sax and slow rock. I guess they are sort of the forerunners of Coldplay or Keanu. Arena rock driven by piano/synthesizer, Overall, I can see exactly why this became an iconic album of the time. I could stand another few listens.
Le Tigre
4/5
This kind of reminds me of the strokes. the synth pop…the lyrics are off the wall. Is this something that I would listen to regularly. No. However, I’m really glad I listened to this album. It is a trip. As with earlier albums reviewed, it feels like 2000…punk. Something you would hear at a nightclub and need to be on drugs to get it.
Stereolab
1/5
Just really not my thing. For techno geeks, maybe. It was just kind of boring and repetitive. I think that is what they were looking for but I just couldn’t enjoy listening to it. As an experimental, I can see its value. As an enjoyable listen, not so much
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
4/5
A fun early rock and roll album. Short rockin songs from the 50’s that would fit into a playlist.
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
Elbow
5/5
Completely blown away by this album. How had I never even heard of this group before. It’s rare that I love an album on first listen, but this is one of those. From beginning to end, it is a great album to listen to. It has some Peter Gabriel, Dave Matthew’s,….I’ll have to listen to it more to see what else, but it is one I will add to my playlist and listen to regularly. I even want to go check out there other albums!
Beatles
5/5
I was surprised how much I enjoyed all of the other songs on the album. That were not on the Blue Album of the Beatles. I enjoy a deeper dive into the Beatles archive and understand why this one is so popular. I could listen through this album again and enjoy it just as much.
Ravi Shankar
2/5
I was surprised how much I enjoyed all of the other songs on the album. That were not on the Blue Album of the Beatles. I enjoy a deeper dive into the Beatles archive and understand why this one is so popular. I could listen through this album again and enjoy it just as much.
Eagles
5/5
You forget that there are 8 more songs on the album which are very, very good. I think this is the Eagles at their prime. Writing good songs and just making great music. Am I huge Eagles fan, no. Is this a great album? Yes.
AC/DC
4/5
Highway to hell is a great album. Feels like most of the other AC/DC Albums, with a few great songs, some really good songs and some songs that just aren’t as memorable. But they certainly are rocking! And if you are in the mood, it’s hard to beat AC/DC!
Steely Dan
3/5
It’s an okay album. I’ve never been a huge steely Dan fan and this doesn’t really change my mind. When you listen to the album, it has a jazzier feel than I remember from them….but its just okay.
Donald Fagen
2/5
Doves
5/5
That deserves a second and third listen. I enjoyed the album and would listen through it again. I didn’t love every song, but I loved a few and liked the rest.
Pere Ubu
3/5
I didn’t hate it. After reading a couple reviews, I thought I would. It was interesting and I can see why people like it. Once is enough for me
MGMT
4/5
A great listen! Might listen to them again. They had songs I remembered hearing on the radio.
Garbage
4/5
Catchy songs on this album. Very grungy and hard rock with some songs you just can’t get out of your head. stupid Girl is one of those. But there are others. Don’t see this being a casual listen. However, I could see putting this in my run list. It would be good music to run to. I just don’t honk I could take it in large doses.
5/5
It really is a great album. As with revolver, it is always good to hear the “other” songs that aren’t on their blue album or on a greatest hits type list. From front to back, it’s an entertaining album with fun and well written songs.
George Jones
4/5
Classic country from George Jones. It was a good listen. It is singable, easy to digest, good tunes. I actually really liked it. But I don’t love it. And not enough to listen to classic country stations.
The White Stripes
4/5
I was really surprised at how much I liked this album. It is not something I would have likely listened to on my own. I put it with a group like the Black Keys….I could put songs from that album in my rotation and enjoy them. While I can’t pick a favorite, that might take a couple of listens, I enjoyed the album as a whole.
Wilco
3/5
It was one listen through the album and I thought it got better through the album. I think I would have enjoyed this band if I had listened to them when they were popular. The album was good, but not great.
Beastie Boys
2/5
While I can see the significance of the album and find parts of it that are genius….it’s not an easy listen. In some cases it just sounds like a lot of noise. Sometimes you can hear some funk and some musicality. Sometimes it is almost unlistenable. You really have to be geared up to listen to this album. It’s not my cup of tea, but I’m sure there are plenty that love it and more power to them.
Little Richard
4/5
Little Richard was having fun making music and was helping to create rock and roll. These songs could show up on a play list and I would enjoy each of them. We’ve come a long way, so I won’t likely throw on the album just for fun. But it’s a good listen
The Chemical Brothers
1/5
I guess I just don’t get it. That is not music that I would ever choose to listen to. It hit #1 in England….so there are people that really like it. I am not one of them.
Syd Barrett
2/5
Pretty unmemorable. While yesterday’s album wa terrible to me, at least it was memorable. I can’t say the same for Syd Barrett. Occasionally I would hear a touch of Pink Floyd in it, but it was just kind of boring. Not a fave of mine.
David Bowie
4/5
It’s an entertaining listen. I’ve never loved Bowie but think he’s done a cool job of constructing his albums. I enjoyed listening to it but it may not make it into the rotation.
Fats Domino
5/5
Love it! Love it! Love it! I wish I had listened to this a long time ago. I knew Blueberry Hill, but that was it. The rest of that music is awesome. Loved every song. I’d listen to that album again, just for fun!
Scott Walker
2/5
I suspect if I heard this album in the late 60’s, I might have enjoyed it more. I didn’t really enjoy it. Don’t know exactly why it made it to the list.
Steve Earle
4/5
I like it…and I think that multiple listens will make me like it more. He has influenced performers like Chris Isaak in my opinion….He kind of has that new country sound before others did. Really good album.
The Residents
3/5
Well, I didn’t hate it. I could hear how it influenced other bands in the future. It was much better than stereolab or Chemical brothers. It is musical but very odd. It feels like the precursor to They Might Be Giants or Jonathan Coulton. I could probably listen to this album again…and I’m really surprised by that.
Dire Straits
5/5
I love the first 5 songs on this album…and while I enjoy the rest, this is one of my favorite sides of an album. It’s hard to have a consistently great album for 8 to 12 songs…there are only a few of them. But I could sit down and listen to this album any day of the week.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
I am not a big Neil Young fan and didn’t enjoy the last album we listened to. But this one is really very good. I can see why this is a must listen. It’s a really good album.
3/5
I like Green Day…I love punk angst. This would have been an interesting concert to be a part of. While I don’t love it…I love that there is a record of this. There’s nothing like live music and this was a great recording. I probably wouldn’t go back and listen to this in Spotify, but I sure wish I had been at that concert. That’s why you go to concerts, you just never know.
Ryan Adams
4/5
I’ve listened to Ryan Adam’s before but never this album. I like many of the songs on the album. He must have a had a really rough breakup. He’s a little bitter. I think this is an album I need to listen to again. I think this one will really grow on me.
Paul Revere & The Raiders
4/5
This was a fun album. I have seen them in concert….a version of them anyway. I totally get why people would go see them in concert. This group has that 60’s mellow rock feel. The songs are good.
Air
4/5
Really enjoyed listening to this album. I sort of like having music like that to listen to when I am heading to bed…but also when I’ve got busy work….I will definitely listen to this one again.
5/5
This was an awesome album that I need to listen to a few more times from beginning to end. I knew some of the songs, but this is exceptionally consistent and great.
Robert Wyatt
2/5
So after listening to the first song….I thought maybe I might really like this. And then it just got bizarre and while I can hear the musicality in it. It’s not like listening to a Jazz album. It’s a mishmash of stuff that occasionally has something interesting. I will likely not be listening to this again.
Simple Minds
3/5
Underwhelming. I really thought I would love this and just didn’t. Nothing really stood out and it was kinda blah.
Lambchop
3/5
Every time I wanted to like it, it just got real weird. I just assumed it was an older album…the voice and the songs reminded me a little of mark knopfler. In the end, the album was only okay. .
Pixies
4/5
I kinda like this group. It’s a rock album and really good. Do I love this album, no, but I really like it and will listen to another of the Pixies albums.
Arcade Fire
5/5
Wow….I really, really like this album! However, repeated listens I believe will make me love this one. It gets 5 stars!
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
Very 70’s message soul. I think it is okay…but don’t love it.
Taylor Swift
5/5
Wow….I’m a Swifty. I love evermore. It is a great album that is right in my wheelhouse. And also unusual, first listen and I love it. I guess this means I need to listen to folklore. I haven’t given many 5 stars, but this is a 5 star album to me.
The Modern Lovers
3/5
It’s a good punk album and makes for an interesting listen. Kinda mellow but still punk. It is a long album, maybe overly long. I can see why it belongs on this list.
Frank Ocean
4/5
I can see why people like this album. I couldn’t listen to it all the time, but it’s a really cool album.
Elvis Costello
4/5
Enjoyed the album….but I love his next album, King of America and I love it so much more than this one, it makes it hard to give it 5 stars. I knew the song Allison…and would listen to this album again. I think I even enjoy Spike more that this one.
Marty Robbins
5/5
Fascinating going from Fishscale to Gunfighter Ballads. We have been glorifying violence with guns since the 1950’s probably longer. With this album, it’s romanticizing the west for entertainment. And it really is good and fun. It seemed like the transition from old country western to a new country and western sound. I did love this album…just find it fascinating to hear Ghostface Killah that day before and then this. Quite a contrast dealing with similar subjects.
Arcade Fire
3/5
Totally underwhelmed by this album. I was totally expecting to love this album and it just didn’t resonate with me. It was kind of boring. There are other songs by them that I was more impressed by.
Blur
5/5
I really enjoyed this album. A mix of rock and angst and just a very listenable album. Makes me want to go listen to more of their music. I will also listen to this album again.
The Cure
3/5
I was surprised I didn’t know more of those songs. I didn’t realize just how synthesizer, moody they really were. I enjoyed listening to the album, but was underwhelmed. I had a different recollection of what I thought the Cure were at the time. When the Cure sang of angst and love, the songs popped. It was an okay album.
Buzzcocks
5/5
This was a great album. Very punk, very 70’s!
Billy Joel
5/5
I forgot just how awesome this whole album is from beginning to end. It is timeless. I believe it could have been released today and been popular. It is just great music from a great musician.
Dennis Wilson
3/5
I liked this album. It is definitely not Brian Wilson. Smile is a great one that I’m sure we will hear in the future. This was good, but not great.
The Police
5/5
Wow! This could be released today and it would fly up the charts. It is truly timeless. An awesome album that I only knew the popular songs. This was ahead of its time.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
4/5
I liked this album. Amazing how awesome Janis Joplin sounds. I thought that the crowd noise gave it a live feeling without actually being live. I love that The Who would be there in another week…at the same venue of the last two songs. This sounds so late 60’s…I don’t think this is going into the rotation though.
My Bloody Valentine
2/5
I can’t say I really like this album. A couple of songs were good and I could see potential. Then there was Nothing Is….which sounded like the needle was skipping back the whole song. I am not a fan.
Method Man
2/5
I still don’t get it! I can’t tell if it’s just bad, or if I don’t have an appreciation for this type of music. I need to listen to a universal 5 or at least 4 album.
B.B. King
5/5
That is an awesome album. It is a snapshot in time! There is no one as good as bb king. Fortunately, I got to see him live in his later years. The man can play the guitar and perform.
Nina Simone
3/5
While I appreciated the artistry and would love to see her live. I didn’t love the album. I am very happy that I listened to it. I’ve heard numerous people find Nina Simone as an inspiration and I totally get that.
The Allman Brothers Band
3/5
That is certainly a jam album. I’m usually not a huge fan of that type of music. I like the lyrics, I like the voices. Some of that was very good. Just like I love Dave Matthew’s, but at concerts, those jams can get really long. This is one great big live jam… don’t love it…but they are good.
James Taylor
5/5
Loved the album! That was the beginning of that singer/songwriter genre being big and he is the epitome of it. Great album. It’s also in my wheelhouse. That’s my favored genre, so it gets a great rating.
The Black Crowes
4/5
I’d listened to this before and while I still don’t love it, I have a greater appreciation for it. It is a perfect album for the transition from the 80’s hair rock and the 90’s rock going into grunge. It’s not a repeat listen, but a fun one that I can certainly see why people like it.
Simon & Garfunkel
5/5
Love, Love, Love this album. I still love their greatest hits more…but that’s not really fair. I could listen to this album anytime and enjoy every moment of it.
The Smiths
4/5
It’s a pretty good album. I love Louder then Bombs though more. There is no mistaking the smith’s sound. I would listen to this one again.
Bob Dylan
5/5
Love, Love, Love this album. It’s the beginning of the singer songwriter era….and definitely with a message. I may not always agree with the message, but it’s funny how the music makes. The message more palatable even if you don’t agree. There is a reason that Bob Dylan is a legend, and this was just an early chapter.
Goldie
3/5
I certainly liked it better than some of the other techno stuff from that time. I could actually listen to this and enjoy a bit of it. I might be able to have this on in the background for working.
David Bowie
4/5
I think I am becoming a David Bowie fan. I really enjoyed this album. I didn’t enjoy it as much as Heroes…but it really grew on me and even if there are no more Bowie albums in the list, I need to check more out.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
4/5
I hate to admit it, I was ready to dislike this album. It couldn’t get released today with those lyrics…but the further the album went on, the more catchy it became. I’m a big fan….a closet fan maybe.
Gorillaz
3/5
Another album that I wanted like…..didn’t for the first few songs and then got into the groove. Not an album I loved, but more listenable than I expected and I will have to listen to more Gorillaz.
Jorge Ben Jor
2/5
I’m afraid this was just too Brazilian for me. While I can appreciate the genre, I just couldn’t enjoy the music all that much.
The Pogues
5/5
I’m a sucker for this kind of music. How can you not want to draw a pint and sing along with all your new friends from the bar you’ve been in all night.
While it is not my favorite from the pogues, and maybe because I am not as familiar with it, it is a great album. I could throw this on with all my Irish drinking buddies…because aren’t we all Irish?
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
I understand why. They were one hit wonders. I love the use of horns in their work. The songs are not particularly memorable. I see why they had some fans in their day. Just don’t feel like their music translates past when it was written.
Lupe Fiasco
2/5
It’s still rap. And while there are some moments of interest for me….A couple of songs that are something more than rap, since I don’t enjoy it, it’s hard to get wrapped up in lyrics. There are some interesting ones.
David Bowie
4/5
I continue to find that I love David Bowie…the piano driven music is a change for him. The music has a different feel but is totally Bowie. I think I liked Alladin sane about the same but Loved the Ziggy Stardust album that followed this a whole lot more. Changes is an awesome way to start an album.
Lauryn Hill
4/5
Fortunately listened to this with a fan of her album and it helped me appreciate it just that much more. She can sing…And this is such a personal album that you feel invested and immersed in it. It;s not my genre, but it is a very good album.
Scott Walker
3/5
What a bizarre album…feels like a classic 60’s Vegas act, but he words are just bizarre. However the songs about girls and dogs was so good, i gave it 3 stars. Maybe overshot a bit, but it was interesting.
Depeche Mode
5/5
Heard this album within days of it being released…if it weren’t for the last 2 tracks, this might be a perfect album. I love this album and it deserves accolades.
2Pac
3/5
More rap…however, this tells a very dark story and i give it credit for being interesting. There were some songs I enjoyed listening to and I can’t about all rap. So 3 stars it is.
Prince
3/5
I wanted to love this album. I love purple rain and had heard that this was a great album. I thought second disc was far superior to the first and thus it jumped a star. I appreciate what he does, just not a huge fan of the genre
Paul Simon
3/5
Early experimental paul Simon that feels very raw…and I can see the seeds of Graceland growing in the melodies and the experimentation. It’s a very good album…just not as good as some of his others.
3/5
It’s classic Yes…there is no mistaking it. They make it feel grander and bigger than I think it really is. I get the one side, one song thing broken up into parts. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. They have a great sound at shows up in their more rock/pop songs later.
Death In Vegas
2/5
Surprisingly, i enjoyed this much more than I expected. while I am not ready to give it 3 stars….2 1/2 would have worked if there were half stars. So it’s a two star album with some upside.
Elliott Smith
5/5
Everybody may not agree. But this is one of the first albums I had no idea who it was AND never heard any of the music. I loved the album and immediately after the album was over, I wanted to listen to it again. that is the first time that has happened with a brand new artist. I realize that this artist is playing to what I like, but he hit it. Love the album and can’t wait to listen to it again.
Peter Gabriel
5/5
WOW….I’m reminded of just how awesome that album is. It is a classic with excellent songs from beginning to end. It might be in the top 5 of the first 100 albums I have listened to in my random order.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I get why it is influential and perfect for the time. It has a bluesy rock feel to it before that became a thing. While it might not be a favorite album, I could listen to it again.
3/5
Another album that surprised me a little. I enjoyed this album and many of the songs on it. I could listen to it again if I were in the mood. I’d call this a decent album.
T. Rex
2/5
Get It On is a great song, but the rest of the album lacks the energy and catchiness that their one hit song emotes. This is an okay album, but not one I’ll likely come back to. T. Rex will be relegated to one hit wonders in my book.
Grant Lee Buffalo
3/5
This was okay. I can see why people might get into it and I enjoyed some of the music…but it was only okay.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
This is classically good. They have a great sound that is very distinct and bluesy….and very much rock.
The Offspring
5/5
This is a freaking awesome album. I listened to it tonight and it is a rocker. I knew big chunks of the album and had just forgotten how cool this album is. This is not a back decker with the wife! It is an in your face, run like a bat out of hell screamer that would be great alone for a predate.
Orbital
1/5
I am soooo not impressed. It’s just not good.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
2/5
I was okay with a few songs, but just didn’t find that it distinguished itself in a good way. It is funky, and maybe just not my cup of tea.
Bee Gees
2/5
I really wanted to love this so much more. I love their later stuff when it is more upbeat. While I liked a couple of songs, I never would have gotten into them with this album.
Iron Maiden
3/5
This was a good album…I liked it but didn’t love it.
Fatboy Slim
4/5
And I thought I would hate this album. There is something mesmerizing about it. It repeats, it can get annoying, but I enjoyed it way more than a person should be allowed.
Femi Kuti
2/5
Meh? It was okay, but not an enjoyable listen.
Sly & The Family Stone
2/5
A couple of the songs I knew were okay. I just didn’t enjoy the album all that much. I probably should because Sly and the Family Stone are classic, but I just didn’t.
Goldfrapp
4/5
I loved this album…it was musical and enjoyable to listen to. It was not cutting edge, but I’d listen to on the back porch, on a walk, at dinner. It is a great listen.
Carole King
5/5
Wow! Just Wow! I didn’t realize just how many amazing songs came off this album. Unbelievably good. This gets a rare 5-star ranking from me. It can always be in the rotation. She wrote great songs.
Sufjan Stevens
3/5
That is an interesting album that feels like it should have been recorded 20 years earlier. It’s a long album and really needs more than one listen. The lyrics are interesting and the music is decent.
Beatles
4/5
It’s hard to believe how they were churning out music at the time that was really really good. While this isn’t my favorite Beatles album, it is great early work that has to be admired.
Sheryl Crow
4/5
This is not my favorite Sheryl Crow album…in fact, it might be number 4 or 5 on my list. Her self titled album, Cmon, Cmon, Wildflower, The Globe Sessions. This is what put her on the map and I get why it made it to the list. It’s just disappointing that maybe her 4th best album is what people get to listen to. It is still pretty darn good and is a very good listen. And the popular songs are great! It’s also very bluesy…and that set the tone for all of the rest of her albums. Make sure you listen to some of her other early music. you won’t be disappointed.
AC/DC
3/5
There are some great songs on this album. if you want rockin or rocks sake, AC/DC is your band. Is this great music, probably not. I can only take it in small doses. Would I love to see an AC/DC concert? Hell Yes! It would be a spectacle. Would I wear earplugs? Of Course, because I’m not that young anymore. But their greatest hits are awesome and there are many songs on this album that fit in that category. The rest sound very much alike and it’s just okay. I’ll ask my cycle class instructor to throw a couple of these songs on to get me motivated. You need to be in a mood to listen to this.
Duran Duran
5/5
I forgot just how great they were at the time and how much fun this album is. I never owned the album and I knew the popular songs, but I didn’t know how good the rest of the album was. Should have paid closer attention at the time. I will listen to this again.
Prince
5/5
I forgot just how great they were at the time and how much fun this album is. I never owned the album and I knew the popular songs, but I didn’t know how good the rest of the album was. Should have paid closer attention at the time. I will listen to this again.
Stevie Wonder
5/5
It’s a classic! And a great one! If this were one album of the best songs, I’d give it over 5 stars….as a double album. It gets 4 1/2 stars. All in all, I will round up and give it the praise that it deserves. I could listen to that album any day of the week.
Gotan Project
4/5
This could be playing in a restaurant or a dinner party….or just anywhere and it would be pleasant and enjoyable. There is nothing offensive about it and I would play it at my dinner party.
The War On Drugs
3/5
Sometimes it has a dire straits feel…It’s kind of all over the place, but I did enjoy it and would listen to it again. I had never heard of the group or the album, but this is very good and worthy of more listens.
Yes
2/5
I feel like the music is trying to hard to be progressive and unique. I enjoy the more accessible Yes music and sort of like their more pop y albums. I can hear glimpses of what they ended up becoming.
The Prodigy
2/5
This was very difficult to get through. I am not much of a fan. With that being said, if I was going to listen to this genre of music, I can hear notes of beauty in this and could be persuaded to listen to this again.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
5/5
Wow! I had no idea what this was going to be like and in the end, I really did love it. It sound very much like soundtrack music. It’s odd but very musical….a little dark at times, and sometime whimsical. I may have to listen to this one again.
Jane's Addiction
4/5
I had heard of Jane’s addiction but didn’t know any of their music. It had kind of a YES feel…but harder rock. I can see listening to this album again and thinking that it will definitely grow on me. It definitely gets a thumbs up.
Stan Getz
4/5
This is great dinner music. But I love listening to them play and wish I could have seen them live. They would have been so awesome to see. I could see listening to this again, and again. I enjoyed this.
Fiona Apple
4/5
I was a fan of here from her cover of Across the Universe. This album I thought started out slow and got better through the album. I love her voice and think that I’d like to listen to more of Fiona Apple. She can sing!
Aretha Franklin
5/5
She can sing. And while I know some of the songs, there are some l didn’t know and they were equally as good. This is an awesome album that makes you want to listen to more of Aretha.
Derek & The Dominos
4/5
I really enjoyed this album. I had never heard much of this except for Layla. Knew some Clapton, and enjoy Clapton. But early Clapton in this band is really good. I’ve been given some great albums recently. This is a good one too.
The Waterboys
2/5
I’m okay with this album. This is in the same genre as the Cheiftans and I liked them better. I wouldn’t likely come back to this album.
Lana Del Rey
5/5
You either love Lana Del Rey or you don’t. I do. I can see why she is so polarizing. I love Norman Feaking Rockwell better, but I’m in love with her. She is always a mood listen, but I could listen to her anytime.
Oasis
4/5
I enjoyed this album…I knew some Oasis but didn’t know this album at all. I enjoyed. I did not enjoy it as much as some of their greatest songs, but overall, it’s a great listen for me.
Radiohead
4/5
I wanted to dislike it because I haven’t enjoyed much from Radiohead…however, this seems to be their most poppy accessible album to me. I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. It’s always interesting to see why albums are on this list, why they are important. but I actually enjoyed listening to this album and could listen to it again.
The Beach Boys
5/5
This album is a great one. There is a reason the Beatles were envious of this album and worked hard to top it. Great melodies, great songs, and an infusion of so many instruments. I normally might give this 4 stars…but it is so far ahead of its time and influenced so many artists. Thus, my rating.
Leftfield
2/5
While I don’t enjoy this music typically, there was something about this I enjoyed more than most in this genre. I could hear a melody occasionally. But really, it’s so repetitious and not something I’d go back to. Most of this music I’ve done 1 star…this is better, so 2.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
4/5
I think this has been my favorite of the Elvis Costello albums so far in my random listens. It has a more pop, melodious feel and I enjoyed it a lot. this is one I will bring out regularly to listen to.
Coldplay
5/5
I love Coldplay! I love this album! On a repeated listen though, I love most of this album and I’ve gotten spoiled by all the music they make that I enjoy.
De La Soul
4/5
That album is a trip. This is the common mans rap album. It has funny, interesting lyrics and familiar music to go along with their quirky style. Of all the rap I have listened to, this is one I have enjoyed way more than I expected.
The Cramps
3/5
While I wouldn’t choose to go listen to this album again, it is indicative of the time it was written in and for those that are fans of this kind of music, I can see why it has been Included in this list. It probably influenced many bands along the way.
Randy Newman
5/5
I totally was into this album. Sarcasm! an indictment of the current system ( at the time) in politics. And very unapologetic about dealing with racism in the moment. I will listen to this album again because it is great music and very entertaining. Loved it way more than I thought I would.
Roxy Music
4/5
This was not what I was expecting. It was way more rock than I thought it would be. Again, I can hear so many later bands in this album.
The Who
5/5
A great album that when I started it, I was expecting better. However, the album just kept getting better as I listened to it. And now on repeated listens, totally understand why it became the classic that it is. I think from top to bottom, it is likely the best Who album.
David Bowie
4/5
WOW! Very Poignant. I did not love the first track, but loved the rest of the album and therefore enjoyed it overall. Each time I listen to another Bowie album, I’m impressed with how much I enjoy his work. I have never listened to a full Bowie album before I started this journey. Now I regret that I haven’t done it before this. His catalogue of music is awesome and deserves numerous listens.
Carpenters
4/5
It’s hard not to love this album. I could listen to Karen Carpenter sing Metallica, or well, anything. Great melodies and a beautiful voice add up to a really good album. This is my kind of music, but maybe not my favorite of theirs.
Koffi Olomide
3/5
This would be great on a Caribbean beach, on a cruise ship, with mai tai’s and Hawaiian shirts in a casual setting. I can honestly say I enjoyed it. Great singer and interesting. However, many of the songs sounded the same to me. Not going to jump on to the daily playlist, but I’m glad I listened and know if him now.
Metallica
5/5
That was one heck of a commitment. The SFSO made this whole concert epic. It made Metallica has some great songs and are an entertaining crew. You really got their greatest hits on this album, and with the Orchestra, it is hard to beat this album.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
While I don’t love the album. I can certainly see the appeal. It’s rock, with a twist. It is very funky. There are also some great, catchy songs. I could see them live and I’m sure it would be a great concert.
Thin Lizzy
2/5
I really hoped I would like this better than I did. I did like the call out of Huey Lewis on the harmonica near the end though. Loved Boys Are Back In Town. I was just underwhelmed with the rest of their playlist. It was okay…just didn’t love it.
Soundgarden
4/5
Completely forgot just how depressing grunge was. that is not a very uplifting album. It is a long one and likely could have been a few songs shorter. That being said, I loved that sound and only knew Black Hole Sun. What a great, depressing, song. It spoke to a generation. I can’t say I enjoyed it, it was too depressing. I appreciated it and might listen to some of the songs again, but only if I’m in the mood.
Talk Talk
3/5
I don’t know how to feel about this album. I like the sound, don’t love the songs. It seems like the album and group are about10 years too late. I enjoyed the last two songs. I need to listen to more of this group aside for this albums.
Dire Straits
5/5
Loved this album! I love Money For Nothing…and was surprised I enjoyed this album as much as I did. I’m a fan. Will keep this on the play list.
Keith Jarrett
5/5
What an awesome album. The story behind it makes the album even more fascinating. This piano in my mind was a precursor to the George Winstons of the world. Keith played a live show on a crappy piano and adlibed and adjusted to make the music work in that venue and time. This is music I will listen to again.
2/5
I’m only okay with devo. They really wear on you.
Elvis Presley
3/5
It’s Elvis. Classic Elvis. I don’t love it but certainly appreciate his place in history. He was one of the pioneers in rock and roll. But I just don’t enjoy listening all that much
The Byrds
4/5
This is the beginnings of new country. You can tell they laid the groundwork for a lot of bands including the eagles. It’s a good listen
Supergrass
5/5
You know how sometimes you get to an album and you realize when it was made and what it is supposed to be like…and you’re disappointed before you ever listen to one note. This is NOT one of those albums. this one exceeded my expectations and I loved it.
Rush
4/5
This was the first album growing up that I really, really noticed the drums. And Getty Lee’s voice is unbelievable. This is true progressive rock. It brings back memories and is a good listen.
The Monkees
4/5
Beatles
5/5
What an awesome album. This one is what made them great in my opinion. I might like other album better from them, but they don’t become who they were without this album. Writing their own music. Amazing!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
5/5
This is a rock album. You have to be in the mood to listen to this, but it is a great album. Short and sweet.
Ryan Adams
3/5
I should love Ryan Adams, his music should be in my wheelhouse. And I like him, I just don’t love him like I love some artists. This is a very good album, I just like it, not love it
ZZ Top
5/5
Early ZZ Top is way better than I imagined. I always knew the popular stuff, the greatest hits, but this is a really good album from beginning to end. It is trending towards their signature sound with a very heavy early 70’s influence. But I love it!
Beck
5/5
This Beck album is sooo cool. I should have listened to more of Beck a long time ago. He writes and performs great music. It is definitely mood music…so couldn’t listen all the time. But it certainly has a time and place and this is a great album.
OutKast
3/5
Again, this is not what I usually listen to and so this makes it hard to rate. However, some of the music definitely feels accessible. It is okay, but not great in my book.
Joe Ely
3/5
Wow…that is 100% country and kinda fun. While it is not my favorite genre, I can certainly appreciate it. I think it set the table for the current batch of country stars incorporating some rock in their country. I give it 3 stars because of its influence. Not a go to for me, but I did enjoy it.
Fishbone
2/5
Don’t love it…in fact don’t really like it all that much. It has a couple of good songs, but overall, not sure it belongs on the list in my opinion.
The Black Keys
5/5
Love this album! Knew this album from before and I think this listen I enjoyed it even more and should have had it in the regular playlist. Great Album!
Dr. Dre
2/5
Just not a genre I can get into. I didn’t enjoy the album…could see why people might, so it gets two stars.
Sonic Youth
2/5
I thought I would enjoy this more. Meh.
Alanis Morissette
5/5
This really is a great album and a time capsule of the time. with that being said, it is still relevant and an excellent album. There is a reason it was made into a broadway musical. It tells a great story and has great music.
The Darkness
3/5
Well I was expecting to not like this album…and after the first two songs, I was thinking I was right. However, it grew on me and I think the album got better with each passing song. I liked this more than I wanted to and will listen again.
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
This was a commitment. I don’t usually enjoy a jam like this. I would prefer to see it live. But he can play guitar…and this is a more funky, rocking version of B.B. King. It’s a long album…and for me, if it had been a bit shorter, I could have enjoyed it more. As for it’s impact on the rock era, especially for its time, it is unmistakeable.
The Mamas & The Papas
5/5
Just heard Jimi Hendrix and now the Mamas and the Papas. It’s a time capsule. They had such great harmonies and such good songs. this genre is more in my wheelhouse and I like it much more. I also feel like it is just as relevant as Hendrix.
I forgot just how great this album is. I own it but haven’t listened to it forever. It is goof from minute one to the finish. Makes me want to see them in concert. I’m looking forward to going back and listening to some of their old stuff. This is such a great album though.
Van Halen
5/5
This is one heck of a rocking album. It’s just too bad that David Lee Roth left the band after this album. He was so much fun and gave this band an edge. It might be because he kept everyone else on edge and had one hell of an ego…but it helped the band and made them more interesting. Great album!!
Beach House
3/5
I wasn’t expecting to like this album…its from a time that if I hadn’t heard it, I wouldn’t like it. This was very good and I really enjoyed it. I will go back and listen to more of their music and will likely to listen to it again. One question, why does this have to be listened to before you die…I can’t see where this is groundbreaking or innovative, it’s just a pretty good album. not sure I get how some of these albums end o\up on this list.
Pink Floyd
5/5
I knew dark side of the moon and The Wall….I knew a little of this album. This is an excellent album and as I listened to it, I totally get why it is on this list. They had a sound that you could just keep listening to.
The Isley Brothers
3/5
While I didn’t love it, I enjoyed much of it and see why they were so influential.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
4/5
If you can never go to the Grand Ole Opry, just shut your eyes and listen to this album. It wasn’t what I expected and I feel fortunate that this album exists. It is a slice of life that I am not familiar with and it is something that I will listen to again. It’s the roots of all the country music we listen to today.
Janet Jackson
3/5
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this album. I didn’t love it. I thought it was really good. Certainly ahead of its time dealing with social issues that really hadn’t been addressed in this way before. It felt like a very personal album.
Big Star
5/5
WOW! Not a bad song on this album. However, I don’t quite understand why it is on the list. It doesn’t break any ground, I really enjoyed listening to it and will listen to it again. But it seems unremarkable, if that makes any sense. I give it 5 stars because it is a gem that fits in my wheelhouse of music.
R.E.M.
5/5
No one can understand just how awesome this album was when it came it. With all the other 80’s popular music, the country, the hair bands, REM was a breath of fresh air and this album was and still is a gem. it just doesn’t have the same affect on people that it did back then. Everyone is doing that type of thing now. They were the face of college rock and we were lucky to live when this album debuted.
Van Morrison
5/5
I’d never heard this album, I knew some songs. What an awesome album. In fact, I turned around and listened to it again. Love this album and I think I’m going to enjoy listening to his other albums. There is a reason artists cover his material.
Simply Red
2/5
Meh….I just didn’t like this all that much.
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Other than Killing Moon and Silver seas, the album was just meh. I always thought that I would like this group better. Was introduced to them in the 80’s and thy never caught on with me. They get an A+ for their good singles, a D for the rest of album. C is the grade and I guess that’s 3 stars.
Little Simz
4/5
I didn’t think I would like this one…and yet, there was something likable about this album. It had a message and it was pretty darned good. I’d listen to Little Simz again.
Björk
4/5
I never would have thought that I would like this album, and it is not in my wheelhouse, but it is really good. I enjoyed it way more than I expected. I will listen to this again…and maybe again.
Norah Jones
5/5
So smooth. so easy to listen to. I could listen to her all night and all day. Great album and a great voice. she is spectacular!
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
I may have listened to this album at some point all the way through, but I don’t remember because it would have been long ago. It is a great album. Lightning in a bottle good. from beginning to end. There is a reason it is a classic
Chicago
3/5
I had no idea what a jam band. They were. I knew the later version of this band and it became less rock and more pop. This set the stage for their sound and I’m sure they were and still are a great live band. I knew a couple of songs and enjoyed the album.
R.E.M.
5/5
What can I say about his album? It is a classic. I am an REM fan, so maybe this isn’t fair, but it is definitely a 5 star album. So many good songs and so accessible. Probably their most accessible album for casual listeners. just Awesome!!!
King Crimson
3/5
I can see why this is an important album. Progressive rock is always hit or miss for me. And while this isn’t a miss…it’s not really. Hit either.
Pixies
3/5
You really have to be in a certain kind of mood to listen to this. This is punk rock and hard rock that would perfect for a club. It’s a fun sound with quick songs that are catchy. You can hear Led Zeppelin in there…I like the different voices on that. I probably should have listened to this while I was in school. heck, maybe I did and don’t remember. That’s how I feel about this album…interesting but unmemorable.
G. Love & Special Sauce
2/5
There are some okay songs on this. Nothing that is an ear worm that will stick with me forever…or even just a few minutes. It’s more musical than Public Enemy. This obviously has many influences. It’s okay, just not my cup of tea.
Meat Puppets
3/5
It has a rockabilly sensibility. Does that make me sound arrogant? Maybe, but I like some of the songs and could see some falling into a party playlist alongside the turnpike troubadours or Red clay strays. If a punk rock band made a country album, this is what it would sound like.
The Undertones
3/5
I was a social distortion fan in the day and this has that same feel. This type of music was very popular back in the late 70’s and 80’s. This spawned all the Green Day’s and alternative rock of the 90’s. This isn’t easy listening, but it really is very good. This is what you like to hear at a bar from a live band.
Beatles
5/5
the most disjointed album of all of them. you can tell they are minutes from breaking up. but they still make great music. So may of these songs have been copied. panic at the disco, ELO, just unbelievable how many people have been influenced by this group. While it may not be their best in my opinion, it is an awesome album.
The Clash
4/5
It’s a great rebellion album and fascinating to listen to . We are still dealing with issues that they bring up in their songs. Do I love it and want to listen to it again? Probably not. Is it an important album that makes me appreciate when it was made and what it meant? Hell Yes. it’s worth another listen just for the lyrics.
The Beach Boys
4/5
So different from the albums that I do know by The Beach Boys…and a similar feel to Smile, from Brian Wilson, which makes perfect sense. Very political. Kind of in your face political that feels a little forced and maybe too literal. But I really enjoy the music and listened to it a second time right way because of how much I thought of it. And I will listen again.
Hanoi Rocks
1/5
Just don’t get and really didn’t enjoy it at all. Even reading about the album, I still don’t understand how it mad the list. Seems like there are some better choices.
Radiohead
3/5
I was surprised how much I enjoyed Amnesiac, so I had high hopes for this album. While it didn’t live up to those hopes, there were parts of it I really liked. And while I enjoyed it, I still don’t get why they have so many albums in the best ever. I keep listening to see if I can get it.
Neil Young
4/5
My first of many Neil Young albums. I liked this one. It has a some great songs and I like listening to him and his Music.
Joy Division
2/5
Very Dark…and not very musical. This might be art but it doesn’t feel like music. It takes all kinds. this one is just not for me.
M.I.A.
3/5
You have to be in the right mood for this album…but it has a good beat and the lyrics are interesting. I wouldn’t add it to my list of albums to listen to, but it is not something that I would immediately turn off either. It’s catch, in small doses!
Jeff Beck
4/5
I’d never heard this before and I never realized that it was the Jeff Beck band. Rod Stewart was the lead singer at this time. I ended up listening to more Jeff Beck after the album ended and actually enjoyed it more. I did enjoy the the album though.
Black Sabbath
5/5
What an awesome timeless album! I believe if it were released today, it would fly to number one. This is simply a great album for those that rock…and even those that don’t!
Sam Cooke
5/5
I loved this album! I knew of Sam Cooke. I know of some of his music. But he sounds sou good live. I so wish I could have seen him live in his prime. His songs and his voice are amazing and I will listen to this again.
Public Enemy
2/5
This music is not for everyone! it’s certainly not for me. With that being said. You can hear rhythms and musicality in these songs. It is in your face and full of anger. I give it 2 stars for listenability, 3 stars for its importance in music history. And overall, be cause I will never put it on again, back to 2 stars. I like the idea that I can at least talk about public Enemy now from a place of knowledge instead of disliking them out of ignorance. I may not always like the on of these 1001 albums, but I can appreciate that they might belong on the list after seeing that some people love this. Just not me.
Spiritualized
3/5
There were some things I liked about it and there were some things that I didn’t like. Overall, it was okay, albeit, pretty long. It did change up though the album so it didn’t feel like the same song over and over, but I jut didn’t love all of it.
The Hives
4/5
It’s just fun garage rock that is fun to listen to and I enjoyed playing. Never heard of the group or the album, but enjoyed my quick romp through their “greatest hits”.
The Strokes
4/5
I really like the strokes. I began listening to them when their 2nd album came out and I loved it. Time never got me back to really listening to the first. After listening to this album, it’s great, but you never forget your first. I really like this and get why The Killers were asked to change their sound because they sounded too much like the strokes…they are similar. Thanks god they did, because we got two great groups and many more albums.
Ramones
4/5
What a fun album. This is a party album that is perfect at dances, weddings. It’s a great listen in small doses.
1/5
This is the equivalent of modern art in some ways. It doesn’t make sense to me. I get that are needs to expand and experiment, but sometimes it gets a little ridiculous. This truly is an assault on the ears and while it may be something to listen to before you die. Dear God, please don’t let this be the last thing I listen to before I die!!
Massive Attack
4/5
It’s electronica, but I kinda like it. Make great background music! I’d listen to it again
Tom Waits
3/5
Not at all what I expected, but after the initial shock, I liked pieces of it and feel like a second listen is warranted. If I want to listen to it a second time, I usually give it at least 3 stars…but I don’t really love it. So 3 stars it is.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
This is 100% a protest album and it does an excellent job of doing it. I don’t know if there are other Bob Marley albums on this list, but there needs to be at least one. This is distinctive and awesome. Makes you want to sit in a beach bar in Jamaica and sip on a drink with an umbrella in it.
Nirvana
4/5
Uneven album. Some of the music is so raging that is barely music anymore. Some of it is awesome. It is definitely dated, but not in a bad way. That Angst and anger of the time is evident. I don’t love it as much as Nevermind, but it is definitely a good album.
SZA
4/5
I was expecting to dislike this album. I really didn’t know what I was getting into. I enjoyed it way more than expected and will have to listen to it again to see if it can be added to my rotation.
Radiohead
4/5
I keep saying that I don’t like Radiohead, but I really didn’t enjoy this album. This is maybe less experimental than many of their albums and more accessible. I will listen to this one again and may find that I am a Radiohead fan after all.
Joy Division
2/5
This was better that’s the first Joy division album I listened to, but not by much. I’m just not much of a fan and don’t know why they had more than one album on the list.
Depeche Mode
4/5
I enjoyed listening to this album. I’ve always been a Music for the Masses fan and only really knew the popular songs from this album. In a listen from beginning to end, it really is a very good album. I think this music impacted numerous bands that came after it. Coldplay, Keane….among others.
Metallica
3/5
It’s a long album and while I like Metallica, too much of it is pretty brutal. If it had been about 30 minutes shorter, I could have gotten behind it. I like it, but will only take in the highlights.
Arcade Fire
5/5
Had heard of them and now I know them. I have already listened to this album two more times before I rated it. Loved it and think it belongs on the list.
Brian Eno
5/5
Gotta love someone that establishes a brand new genre of music. I enjoy having this on in the background while I am working. I know I have heard it in airports.
The Birthday Party
1/5
It’s just terrible to listen to. This does not remind me of a birthday party and it kinda sucks.
The Velvet Underground
4/5
I see why this is influential…and it is a good album. I had seen the album art forever and heard of it. It was a good listen and I’ll listen to it again.
OutKast
3/5
Okay…on a second listen, I kinda like this. I’m not going to put it on for a dinner party, or when I want to relax. I guess that this is not an album that I can find a time to listen to it and enjoy it or share it with someone. It makes me more worldly and a better conversationalist because I am knowledgeable about the album and the genre. If I was in the car and the person I was with asked to listen to it, I wouldn’t be against it. And if they liked it, it would make for an interesting conversation.
Beth Orton
3/5
Meh? It wasn’t only okay. If this were on the list, so. Should 10,000 maniacs In My Tribe. I understand that it was a monumental feat to produce this list and update it on a regular basis…and it feels like it has an English slant. And the knowledge it took to do all this is amazing. It would be interesting. To have someone from New York or L.A. produce this. Seems that the core might be the same, but the fringe things would change.
The Sugarcubes
2/5
Did not really enjoy this album or the group. Would definitely not shoes to listen to this again. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good.
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
I knew the popular songs and those are great. There is a distinctive sound to them that is easy to enjoy. When they go solo, it seems to lose that special sound that makes them distinctive and listenable. It is certainly a time capsule of the time it was written and performed. I like the sound, but don’t know that another album would benefit this list. This could probably be enough.
Muddy Waters
4/5
There can’t be any list without including muddy waters. I couldn’t listen to this regularly, but if Icould have seen this live, it would have been awesome.
Pulp
5/5
Loved this! Surprised and shocked that I never heard this. Granted, we had our first child that year…so I kind of had a few lost years. I need to find more of them. This is a great album band and an awesome sound.
Traffic
3/5
I had never heard this before. I had heard of Traffic, but didn’t know realize Steve winwood was part of this group. His voice is very distinctive. This was really good, but I enjoyed his solo stuff more.
Lenny Kravitz
4/5
That’s a really good album.
Leonard Cohen
5/5
This was a dark album, but really good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
4/5
The covers were cool….and I enjoyed their music too. This is not what I was expecting from a one hit wonder. I got a lot more than I expected.
Steely Dan
4/5
I really enjoyed this album also. Aside from Ricky don’t lose that number, i knew none of the rest of the music. It was a far better album than I was expecting.
PJ Harvey
2/5
I was only okay with PJ Harvey and this album…it doesn’t make me want to go in search of more music from her.
Bob Dylan
5/5
It really is a great album. I love listening to it. Seems the older I get, the more I like it. it is a classic. I originally got hooked on Dylan with Time Out Of Mind….and then went back. I don’t love all his stuff…but his great stuff is really great!
The Clash
5/5
You have to be in the mood for this music and I must have been when I listened to this album. The clash is great and are timeless.
Cat Stevens
4/5
He has such a distinctive sound and I really like that sound. It is a really good album. With that being said, I might have a hard time telling the difference between his good album and a not so good album. However, I enjoyed this listen and will listen again.
Butthole Surfers
2/5
Wow! it is not my cup of tea at all. I can see why someone might like it. If you are angry and need music to match that mood, this would certainly do it. It just doesn’t feel very musical to me.
The Temptations
4/5
This is a very good album. Short and sweet and a time capsule of many groups from that generation.
Fela Kuti
4/5
I think I would enjoy this more if I were at the performance. Live music and watching them perform. But this just kind of bores me. As impressed as I am with how good they are, and the songs are pretty good. I am also happy that they have these live performances recorded so that if you couldn’t see them, these are here. I think they are important to the history of music.
Jethro Tull
4/5
It is certainly a classic album. Makes me think of Jesus Christ Superstar….very much the same sound. it is a really good album.
CHIC
2/5
Barry Adamson
3/5
I needed to listen to this before I died. While it is and interesting listen, I just can’t see why it needs to be listened to over many album that are not on this list. I didn’t hate it. It would be a great soundtrack for a movie about spies or….it is similar to to the Until the End of the World Soundtrack….but that one is so much better than this. I can’t lie though…I enjoyed the listen, just don’t get why its so important.
The United States Of America
4/5
It wasn’t what I expected and threw me off a little bit as I started to listen to this. So I got through about 5 songs…waited a few days and started over. I didn’t like the first try at listening but enjoyed it much more once i gave it a chance. I can’t exactly tell you why I liked it, but I did.
Pantera
3/5
I didn’t love it. However, if I was in the mood for it, I can totally see why someone would like the music. It’s not my cup of tea. But while it was hard core rock, it had some musicality to it. I get it, just don’t enjoy it much
The Smashing Pumpkins
3/5
There are songs I like on this album, but I don’t love the Album. In fact, I recently saw them live opening for Green Day and was even more disappointed. I enjoyed some of their songs, but as a whole, I wouldn’t just go and listen to this album.
David Bowie
3/5
I’ve like lots of the Bowie albums from beginning to end. This album feels like it was before its time. It was at the front of disco and some of the songs feel that way. I like a couple of songs…don’t love the Across the universe cover very much. It’s an okay album, just not on par with some of his other stuff.
Radiohead
3/5
I still don’t get it. While I find the music interesting and okay, I don’t get all the hype. It’s a good album, but not one I would choose to listen to again. Occasionally I listen to Radiohead to see if I’ve grown into the music. It still hasn’t happened. Maybe someday.
Jazmine Sullivan
2/5
When she actually sings, the music is okay. I don’t hate it. But I’m not a big fan of albums like this. I realize you want to be able to express yourself…but this goes a bit off the rails for me.
