Don’t believe the negative reviews about this one. I found it easy listening and will definitely revisit it.
Not generally my cup of tea but with it being from the 70’s I had higher hopes than usual. I enjoyed the first 20 minutes then I felt it got a bit tedious and repetitive.
Well I read some mixed reviews before listening, and it may be well produced have fantastic musicality and deep soul searching lyrics. But 20 minutes in I thought I was still on track one, it’s just bland and tedious. I gave up at minute 21 and that was more than enough for me
I always find myself judging single female artists against jagged little pill, this certainly isn’t in the same league. To be fair it wasn’t a bad album to listen to. I only had one play so didn’t appreciate the lyrics too much. Will definitely give it another go
I didn’t bother listening to this because if the singles from the album are anything to go by I think the rest will be shite
I remember getting this album when it was released and really enjoyed it at the time. Now I’m returning to it in a long long time and find it pretty divided. Some outstanding tracks and some merely fillers. I think it’s far too long I need to do it in two sittings
Good easy listening album. Does the originals justice
I’m not really qualified to rate this as I’m not that keen on hip hop. Anyway I put it on in the car and track one had me hanging my arm out the window and nodding like a pimp on weed. Couldn’t hear the lyrics but overall it sounded ok. I will give it another listen cos I think it’s got more to offer
Apart from mother and child reunion ( which I used to think was someone else) this album is utter drivel, are the songs rejects from S&G albums. Now I know why I find Graceland so offensive on the ears
Went into this with an open mind, being a Beatles fan you usually have high expectations and end up getting let down. Almost 2 hours is usually a big ask and I don’t usually have the patience for albums that long. However I really enjoyed it. There are exceptional songs and others not so much but the whole package was welll balanced and even the long instrumentals which some don’t like I found really good as a background track to the day.
I liked rem around the time of green and document then started to find them tedious later on. This album though is like a breath of fresh air, it’s more basic and raw and you get the feeling of this band has a lot to offer and the rest is history. Don’t know why I didn’t listen to it back in the day
This is a completely new one to me, I’d never heard of them. On first listen I instantly thought of be your own cat but not as aggressive. I was mildly impressed but then on the second listen I couldn’t get over that warbling, it was doing my head in. I really wanted to like this as well
It’s a funny one this. You gotta respect Johnny Cash for the artist he is whether you like country or not. It’s an album of covers of which some I hadn’t heard the originals and those are the ones I found ok. Some of the ones I knew were a bit questionable but one or two I thought were excellent. At the end of the day, after all he gave to the world of music maybe he earned the right to be a bit indulgent and record some of his favourites or songs that were poignant to him at the time.
I think everyone is aware of all the T Rex singles and to be fair there’s not a bad one amongst them. This is the first time I’ve listened to a full album and I was pleasantly surprised that there was more to them than that sound. Some really cool relaxed tracks but some absolute shockers ( rip off ). It’s an album of its time and probably not one I’ll revisit
This album, the soundtrack to my youth, spoke to a whole generation of disillusioned young people. It transformed the musical and political landscape of the UK. Outstanding from beginning to end, it was hugely influential to countless bands emerging at the time. Just a note to some of our American friends: if you’re going to label bands like Green Day and Sum 41 as punk then you have no place criticising this album.
Haven’t heard this in years. Hip hop isn’t my thing but if there’s something called user friendly this album is it from the start it keeps throwing up a balance of music and skits that give a good balance to keep you interested. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to give hip hop a go. It’s a great starting point. However, i think it is probably 15-20 mins too long. I’d have given 5 stars otherwise
Well I was expecting to like this from what I’ve previously heard but it didn’t live up to it. Although the songs are up tempo they’re just not getting that teenage angst feeling about them. A bit limp wristed if I’m honest.
That’s an eye opener. I bought this when it was released on the back of the singles. So I played it and I had no recollection of hearing any of the tracks apart from the singles. Forgettable is an understatement
This won’t take long, the most basic form of satire, not even thought provoking. Must have been aimed at the american market. Utter shite
Hip hop’s not my thing but this mostly had my toes tapping whilst not taking in the lyrics too much. But it’s just one of the generic, I’m better than every other artist, I’ve got loads of money and women are second class citizens. It’s sort of divided as in there’s a constant elevator music backing track with Jay Z doing his own thing over the top . Completely separate
I really really enjoyed this. I bought it back in the day and at the time thought it went on a bit too long, maybe I didn’t give it the time it deserved back then because I was listening to other emerging Brit pop bands that were maybe a bit more “listenable “. But now I’ve given it the time it deserves I’m well impressed now
First listen I thought that’s ok let’s give it another go. That’s when the rot set in. It’s just forgettable country rock, average at best 1 star for the album and 1 star for freebird
First track has a bit of 50’s rock and roll then becomes pretty angry, straight into kick out the jams and from then on (apart from the odd track) it’s just in your face, loud, aggressive and just what you expect from the reputation it has. Absolute banger! Hard to believe it’s 1969
You know what, this nostalgia at its best takes me back to late teens early 20’s. Played it to death with an old girlfriend. It’s not something I’d go and put on now to be honest but good to look back on it. Mix of tracks in my opinion some a bit cheesy and others anthemic some thought provoking. Best track; paradise by the dashboard light. Tell me a teenage boy who can’t relate to that
Not for me. Poor mans Gil Scott Heron. Found it just not listenable
I try and be open minded but this album is utter shite. Got nothing good to say about it. If I could give it a minus score for “Izzy Izzy ahh” ( what the fuck is that shite) I would. So it’s a begrudging 1 star
I’ll make this quick. Tried listening to it, half way through started to read a book thought it may be ok as background music. I was wrong, it’s got nothing to offer me only offending me with that version of little wing.
I was recommended this a few years back and on first listen l enjoyed but instead of it growing on me it started to grate. So when it popped up today I was not looking forward to sitting through it again, however I really enjoyed it. The songs alone are all on point but now I think I know what started to turn me off. It’s them god awful harmonies, sounds like one of them weird church groups. Oh and Neil Young is a self indulgent prick
Nah. It for me, it has that quirky feel about it but no substance in my opinion
