1001 Albums Summary

This was the first album generated for me, and boy what a great start to this journey! What a pleasant, uplifting listen. Many great guitar lines and vocal harmonies sprinkled throughout. This album is about as good as it can get after only just two listens. I’m happy to have discovered this one It’s also worth checking out the bonus track High Tide Or Low Tide. Beautiful song Favorite track: Concrete Jungle

Good songs, good times Favorites: Suite: Judy Blue Eyes Guinnivere Pre-Road Downs Helplessly Hoping

I’m a sucker for beautiful, lush ballads; which just so happens to fill most of this short and sweet album. It is reminiscent of the Beach Boys and a little bit of the Moody Blues. Love the mellotron textures throughout Glad to be reminded of this one. It may not be for everyone, but it definitely is for me! Favorite track: Care Of Cell 44

It’s iconic and influential. However, I don’t care too much for all those high end frequencies

One of the greatest double albums ever crafted. Nearly every song is awesome. Just about as good as it gets.

Pleasantly surprised. This is something I would have never found without this generator. The sound quality is a bit spotty, but the songs are quite good, with lots of variety. Will have to check out the film

I enjoyed the rhythms. The Congo is a cool instrument in my book I’ve been playing a lot of a few Sid Meier’s Civilization games recently, and this reminded me of the early tribal music used in those games

Whether played in the background or listened to intently, this album brings joy

Not my go-to favorite Beatles album, but definitely a classic, paving the way for many more great albums from many more great artists to come

The energy and fun of these performances seep through as though you are actually at the concert experiencing it live. Definitely my favorite lineup of the band. On here you see them stretch out and give it all to some of their greatest songs. It’s considered one of the best live albums for a reason

What a great discovery Favorites: Holes, Goddess on a Hiway

I didn’t hate it, but not feeling too inclined to revisit it. Drive You Home was very pretty, gave Fleetwood Mac Albatross vibes

Not a whole lot of variation on the album, but it was consistently good. Such a great voice! Makes me want to dive into his other work beyond the hits

It was so bad that it was actually kinda good

This one scared me. I actually really liked some of the sounds on here, but there were just as many sounds that I was not a fan of. It was creative, but maybe too much so. While I appreciated this, and was proud to have listened to the whole thing, I just did not like the way it made me feel. Probably won’t be listening to it again anytime soon

I couldn’t wait for it to be over

His vocal style will take some time to grow on me, but I found this album to be very interesting and unique. I think this is one that requires a few more listens to fully grasp. Edit: I was correct, bumping this to a 4 haha

Some call it boring, but I find the calm ballads here to be beautiful. The only downside for me is the inclusion of The Murder Mystery on this album. I don’t think it’s bad, it just doesn’t fit the same nature as all the other tracks

Repetitive but in a good way. Fun and funky

I heard this one for the first time about a year ago, and I always remember where I was. I am a huge fan of many Neil albums, but not all of them. He’s always doing something different it seems, but he’s always Neil. This is definitely one of his underrated ones, glad to see it here

One of the most incredible performances in not only piano or jazz, but all of music. It’s beautiful. And it works great for background or foreground listening! I love the story behind the piano used and how it wasn’t the right one or in tune. Yet that obstacle didn’t stop the music. Imperfection lead to perfection.

It was okay. Lots to offer. But I am definitely much more of a fan of The Who to come. The Ox was really cool, it surprised me

An album I didn’t like when I first listened to it. But after a couple more listens upon receiving it here, I am now giving it 5 stars. It’s weird and unique in such a good way This album has a strange yet satisfying way of being both accessible and inaccessible at the same time! Favorite track: Autumn’s Child

It was just so normal that it resulted in being absolutely terrible. It’s not directly bad, it’s just so forgettable. I already forgot what it sounded like lol

Theatrical! It grew on me the more I listened to it! Favorites: You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, and Paradise By the Dashboard Light

On paper this one should sound super dated. But it doesn’t; it sounds super good. I wasn’t a huge fan of Trans Europe Express which I got a few days before this one, but The Man Machine was awesome! Pretty cool

If this album were a horse, I would pet it. But I wouldn’t love it like our protagonist here

I really like Frank Zappa and the Mothers, just not this era. I get it’s important and all, but I try to rate music based on how much I personally enjoy it. I don’t enjoy this one haha

Lots of good tunes on here Bonus points if you listen to it while driving

I did not expect this

Ethereal

I do enjoy Zappas comedic take on music. But I don’t always enjoy the music itself. This album isn’t too hard to listen to, apart from the closer, but I just don’t enjoy it as much as what comes later throughout the 70s

Unique. I’ll give it 3 sex packets out of 5

Going in, I was very curious what folk-punk would sound like I don’t think I’d listen to it again, but it was different. Maybe I would try it again if I ever find myself on a pirate ship. Or drunk. Or drunk on a pirate ship!

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I anticipated. The opener and closer were fantastic, but most of the rest didn’t click with me. There were so many great moments but that was the problem, there were too many. I just wished they would explore each idea for a little longer. But this kind of problem is really only for first listens, it becomes a great thing after multiple listens, because you will always hear something new that you didn’t catch before

Great vocals

It’s not bad, I like it. But I do not love it, and I do think it is a bit overrated

Upon listening to a few other gangsta hip hop records from this era before I got this one, I found out I am not a huge fan of the genre. But this one surprised me! The beats were funky, the lyrics were flowing, and the energy was booming. Definitely my favorite of this style so far

Music is a language we all understand

Favorite tracks: Mr. Tambourine Man It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue

It rocked pretty hard, and there was lots of cool tones and stuff. However, I just simply wasn’t in the mood for this aggressive punk energy today

This was really cool!

Great bluesy album. Hyacinth House is amazing. Riders on the Storm is my favorite doors song, and is worth the price of admission alone. Truly the last doors album, and one of their best!

ABSOLUTELY CRAZY story behind this one. So I randomly decided to listen to this album in the morning, and then later in the day I opened this site and lo and behold my album for the day is Tres Hombres!! I couldn’t believe it! And THEN, I went to my 1001 albums book and flipped right to the Tres Hombres page!! What a wild sequence of coincidences. Oh and the album is a masterpiece.

Honestly these are perfectly crafted pop songs. The mega hits still sound mostly fresh, even after hearing them too many times. And the non-hits were just as good. I especially enjoyed Out Of The Woods I can see why she is the icon that she is

Tiger is such a cool song Great pop songs. Reminds me of ELO a little bit from that same time period

I liked about half of it. The other half not so much. My favorites were She’s so Loose and Sofa (Of My Lethargy)

I liked the mandolin, but most of it seemed pretty generic otherwise Favorite: Hairshirt

The first half was incredible. The second half didn’t feel the same for some reason. Overall, I really liked how quiet and peaceful this record is. I don’t mind harmonica in small amounts, but I think there’s too much here. And since the instruments are quiet, I think his voice does a ton of the heavy lifting here, but in a good way! I enjoyed the Emmylou Harris harmonizations as well!

This is everything I wanted and more. An album that sounds amazing on first listen and will continue to grow through all the listens yet to come

My favorite Santana album is Caravanserai, but any album around that era is top notch!

At first, I thought I was going to hate it. Then the guitar sounds entranced me, and I ended up listening to the album like 4 times. It’s a grower for sure. Favorite track: Animal Nitrate

I can’t quite tell you why, but the more I listen to R.E.M, the less I like them. This just did not interest me at all. And I’m going to give it a 1 not because of the album itself, but because this is the 3rd R.E.M record I got in the last few weeks. And I know there’s at least one more coming. R.E.M, I’m not sure if it’s me or you, but I don’t think this is gonna work out.

Always liked Moonshake, but never dived into this album. The rhythms are hypnotic and the atmosphere is majestic. Definitely an album worthy of attention before you kick the can!

A subdued Bob Dylan, in a good way. This is one of those records where the lyrics prove more important than the music itself

Overall, pornography is like a sandwich; a near perfect sandwich where everything comes together; the meat, the buns, the sauce, but the cheese is slightly out of date. I would rather have a sandwich with good cheese (vocals)

Unlike anything I’ve ever heard I listened to this on my balcony during a thunderstorm. What an experience. It was so weird, but in such a good way Trans-National kinda reminded me of Kate Bush’s Waking the Witch Also that album cover!!

At first I hated it, then I liked it. The sounds are harsh and relentless, but what’s done with them is actually pretty creative and I’m here for it

Even though the album consists of mostly covers, Cash paints them differently with his finely aged voice “Hurt” gave me goosebumps
