One of the great jazz records.
Knew nothing about the artist or album going into it. Not bad. Soft rock, but then it also had elements of jazz, progressive and hard rock. Intriguing album but it's hard to wrap my head around it on the first listen.
Fantastic album and might be the best one from Radiohead. One of my first vinyl purchases. Some excellent songs on here including Reckoner, Weird Fishes, Nude. I remember hearing it for the first time in my best friends basement when we downloaded it from their website for free (which has served as a game changer).
One of the first albums that I really started listening to. It brings me back to when I was dating my first girlfriend at the age of 16 since we listened to it a lot. There's some great songs in this one. Standouts include Band on the Run, Jet, Mrs. Vandebilt, Let Me Roll It, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five.
Bad ass. Though the mixing doesn't sound too great since sometimes it's hard to hear certain instruments, like the drums. But the great overpowering riffs make up for that and it definitely has plenty of great 'bar in the desert' vibes.
Relaxing music, but beyond that didn't get much out of it.
What a fantastic album. One of the best rock albums of all time and one of Hendrix's most impressive works. Too many exceptional tracks to even list. This is Hendrix at his prime.
Better than I expected since I'm used to Hotel California and their more country sounding material. Side A is stronger than Side B, but a pretty decent album overall.
Not really into this one all that much. These guys are pioneers for sure, but unfortunately they fall victim to being the cliché of British punk music because so many other bands after them sounded similar. Not their fault by any means. Aside from that, the music didn't last much with me though altogether still wasn't bad at all.
Pretty confused on how this album is included in a "must listen before you die" list. It's just generic early 90s alt rock, nothing special to it at all.
Great performance from a legend.
Kinda outdated and stale, but alright to put on during supper.
Better than average pop record, but doesn't do much for me personally.
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson, nodding politely."
This is the best album that Smashing Pumpkins made and one of the most iconic albums in alternative rock history and a relic of the 90s.
Pretty cool instrumental album that caught me off guard. Interesting mix of funk, hip-hop and jazz.
Didn't do much for me personally and the moments I liked were a bit too far in between.
I appreciate the experimentation but overall not something that I would go back to. I'd be grooving to it one second, and then confused the next.
Aside from "American Pie" there wasn't much here to keep me entertained.
Good 80s pop which serves as a major influence to the generations of artists that came after.
Drum and bass isn't typically my vibe so I didn't get a lot from this album.
Excellent album full of futuristic funk, soul, humor and impressive musicianship.
Impressive album which helps her stand out from her peers.
Knew nothing about the artist or album going into it. Not bad. Soft rock, but then it also had elements of jazz, progressive and hard rock. Intriguing album but it's hard to wrap my head around it on the first listen.
Cool riffs and Cult of Personality is a classic, but aside from that it was a bit boring.
Forgettable because it just sounds like everything that had come out already. Doesn't stand out and be it's own thing and instead tows the line for what was already becoming outdated at that time.
Personally it came across as pretty meandering to be honest.
Though it can sound repetitive at times, it's a very impressive album that set a standard for the punk genre.
Gets a bit dragged down by an inferior second half, but the rest really brings it all together.
Absolute classic that set a standard for the genre. Excellent samples create a jazzy atmosphere that match up with the great lyrical team up of Q-Tip and Phife Dawg. One of the best albums in 90s hip-hop and an absolute must listen.
Not up my alley, but pretty good for what it is - contemporary pop.
One of the all time great albums. The medley in the second half towards the end of the album is divine.
Perhaps the best folk album to spawn since the new millenium began. Robin Pecknold's voice and the bands talent is obvious, and they create some of the most beautiful harmonies you'll ever hear.
One of the all time great hip-hop records. Very difficult to match this one as his flow, lyrics and production are top notch. Special mention goes out to Suicidal Thoughts.
I don't get the hype for this band.
Though a solid album, it's definitely ranked towards the bottom when compared exclusively with the other Doors albums.
Instrumentally very good, but dragged down by bad vocals.
First time that I heard it, it didn't impress me that much. However repeated listens showed me how brilliant this record is. Her rhyme schemes work masterfully with the laidback yet creative production.
Quite possibly the best album of the 21st century so far. Lyrics, flow, production, themes are all 10/10. Not only a masterpiece of the Hip-Hop genre, but up there with all time greats such as Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon and Nirvana's Nevermind.
When I was 14 I used to blast this on my Walkman religiously while playing Mario Kart Double Dash at all hours of the night.
Anyways, super iconic album and both discs are fantastic. Could be the best double album in hip-hop history.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi both deliver with the lyrics, great production, catchy hits and sweet features. An album for the ages that definitely deserved all of the success that it had.
Really good blues. Standout track for me was I've Got My Mojo Working Pt 2.
Dude this album beat To Pimp a Butterfly for Album of the Year at the Grammy's. HOW?!
This is a compilation album so it feels kinda weird to have this one listed instead of works like Veni Vedi Vicious or Tyrannosaurus Hives. Definitely should have just had one or both of these albums listed.
Aside from that though, awesome collection of post punk songs.
Quintessential Holiday album. God bless.
2.5/5. Has some decent songs here and there but jesus are there way too many songs.
Features two of his best songs, Jean Genie and Lady Grinning Soul. Great stuff overall and a career highlight in a legendary discography.
Amazing material that would be worthy of a 5 if not for tracks like Cans and Brahms, and We Have Heaven - which just break momentum. Everything else this album offers is stellar progressive rock that really set the bar.
Not super into this aside from Walk of Life, but there's still a lot of impressive song writing and musicianship on display, so gotta respect that.
I mean the music isn't bad, but this kind of late 80s/early 90s alternative doesn't usually do much for me.
Gets a 2 for Bawitdaba bringing me back to old wrestling promos. The rest....nah.
One of the all time great live albums you'll ever hear.
