Never heard of them before but I liked it a lot.

5-Star Albums (3)

I fail to understand the hype around this band. A couple of good singles does not make an excellent album.
Every track seems familiar, even the ones that weren’t singles.
Sounds like a load of demos to me.
Country music normally gets one star from me but this made me chuckle a couple of times so an extra star for that.

Perfectly pleasant background music
Sadly now sounds somewhat dated
Reminds me of Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers
I love the Cure when they rock it out but there’s not much of that on this album.
Just not my thing at all. I only give one star if I think that the album is one that I could never listen to again. This is one of those. Sorry to whoever listed it.
At times I thought that I was listening to Steely Dan but that’s no bad thing. Enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Couldn’t get into this at all. Sorry!
Sounds like a load of demos to me.
I always wondered if this guy’s voice would grate when listening to a whole album. It does.
Every track seems familiar, even the ones that weren’t singles.
Every now and then there was a bit where I thought it was going to liven up a little but those bits were very few and far between. I got bored well before the end but stuck it out in what proved to be false hope of enjoyment.
It sounds like something that someone has knocked out on a cheap Casio keyboard in their tea break.
Nothing outstanding but pleasant enough as background music.
Unremarkable but perfectly listenable
Quirky vocals over fractured beats. I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not so I gave it the benefit of the doubt as it would probably grow on me with more listens.
It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive, It’s a bit repetitive…
Enjoyed it. Will be well worth listening to some more.
If I didn’t know I would have thought it was Taylor Swift.
Good to hear that a hip hop album can be made without gratuitous over use of obscenities.
One extra star for sentimental reasons - RIP Ozzy
Country music normally gets one star from me but this made me chuckle a couple of times so an extra star for that.
It grew on me on a second listen, hence the fourth star.
I’m not a Pink Floyd fan but I liked this more than I expected to.
Trying to think who she sounds like??
I’ve heard worse, like a lot of the original list!
Run of the mill and formulaic rock.
Never heard of them before but I liked it a lot.
This geezers voice is so monotonous it makes even the uptempo songs sound boring.
Unexceptional but pleasant enough for background listening.
I always think that the guitarists in reggae bands must get really bored.
I liked their early stuff a lot and was disappointed with the second album but this is good enough for four stars.
I didn’t think I was going to like this at first but, in the end, I liked it a lot.
It wasn’t at all what I was expecting but it turned out to be great! If it had been in English I may have given it five stars!
I fail to understand the hype around this band. A couple of good singles does not make an excellent album.
Not just a great album but also a little bit of history.
A band from my youth that I never much knew about so thanks for listing it. Beforehand I thought it might be a two star album but it was nearly a four!
Started off with an open mind about it, soon got bored and changed to something else three quarters of the way through.
Music is always better if it sounds like the guys making it are enjoying themselves
Dedicated to all those 40 year old girls called Kayleigh
Interesting. Something a little bit different in each track. Enjoyed it.
Pleasantly listenable
Miles off of my radar I’m afraid but there’s a couple of jolly bits.
Average only.
Folk Punk? WTF! Not for me I’m afraid.
Sometimes great, sometimes good, sometimes awful and sometimes annoying, sometimes all in the same song. Intriguing though.
Heard these guys lots on the radio but never listened to a whole album. Pretty good 👍
I wasn’t sure about this one at first but it got better as it progressed.
Sounds like how The Pogues may sound if they were American.
It slowly grew on me 👏
A quirky choice which would be even better if this non Spanish speaker understood what the lyrics were about. Maybe it’s about violently slaughtering Burt Lancaster. Or maybe it’s a love song to him. Who knows? 🤷🏻♂️
My old Dad used to love Herb Alpert but it’s not my thing but two stars for nostalgia and memories of my long gone Father.
Another band I’ve been well aware of but never listened to a whole album before. I enjoyed it 👍
Good in parts, dull in others.
The last half decent album that REM made.
Somewhat dated and WTF were the “comical” comments between tracks?
Reading the Wikipedia page about this album I thought that I might like it. I didn’t much.
Black Sabbath called. They asked if they could have their riffs back please?
Run of the mill Rock
Interesting mix of styles
A solid three but nearly a four.
I’m never sure if they’re serious or just a novelty band? It’s ok I suppose but slightly tedious.
Good for insomniacs I would think 🤔
Of the 141 albums in this secondary list, this is definitely the BEST one I’ve heard so far 🤘🎸
Not to keen on the vocals but everything else was great 👍
What a great voice he had/has. So full of feelings!
If they got rid of the screamy/shouty geezer with the sore throat this would be half decent!
I’ve been a big fan since the start and think that he’s always been underrated. This isn’t his best album by a long way but it shows where he came from and is well worth four stars of anyone’s ears.
What an amazing mishmash of styles. I never knew what quite to expect next!
I’d expected that a band called Vampire Weekend would be more edgy but this is ok as it is, I suppose. However, my music provider played other tracks from the band once the album had finished and some of those were far better than anything here.
Is this supposed to be funny, because it’s not 🤷🏻♂️
Can’t take too much of her screechy voice
Formulaic pop for sure but she’s got a half decent voice and this album is more listenable than quite a lot of the other stuff on the lists.
Apart from the Vic Reeves Pub Singer style vocals this is a pleasant enough listen.
Really odd in a riveting sort of way
Nothing different from thousands of other bands
It’s no “Live & Dangerous” is it?
Unlistenable
The geezers voice gets pretty annoying after a while
Too twee
