Excellent, a nostalgic flow of hits to dream away
Not for me, it could not thrill me although i like other bowie albums a lot
I just love this album. Had happened to buy it vinyls a few days before. Brings back memories from college days
not an easy listen the first time. It becomes better towards the end so perhaps a repeated listen may make it more enjoyable. But for me not at all at the level of dre, snoop and eminem
Ok but not great, white stripes were better
A few good songs, the rest is sometimes a bit annoying. Probably requiring you are in the right mood. I dont always like the singers voice.
A few ok songs on the second half, otherwise aged and not very memorable 30+ years down the road listening to this without drugs and not in a rave. I liked klf, massive attack etc better.
Just wonderful
Nice music
Relaxed music but dated
A few great songs but some others are mediocre, the singer is not great but overall really nice
Nice listen but not very memorable
Cool songwriter and a great album to listen but do read the lyrics
I liked the first two songs, the rest started to bore me after a while.
i tried to like it since so many people do. I do like rap. The lyrics are quite good, but i just feel he cannot sing very well which distracts too much.
Interesting album but not something i need to hear again. I dont get why the list doesnt have more enjoyable music of the more recent period than this.
Ok music but not sure if this qualifies as must listen. Maybe it needs multiple listens but not sure if it is very remarkable compared to other 1960s music.
A couple of good songs like the intro, the rest is quite boring. I did copy afew to playlists but will not listen to the whole album again.
Love it. Just bought it by coincidence. Snoop is so smooth…
Great, several hits and has a nice feel
Nice album, a few reslly good ones but sometimes his voice can get boring. 3.5
Smooth, really nice. 3-4 rounded up
Great music, still sounds fresh despite its age.
Great music, still sounds fresh despite its age. Just perfect.
Nice music, great voice. Nrvertheless i wasnt too thrilled by most songs
Complex album that was a great listen during a walk on a warm summer evening. I never heard of Sufjan but plan to listen to more music of him. 4+
I saw this album draws haters and lovers. I agree with both. She has a great voice and can make good music, i liked the cowboy Carter album. But this one has messy compositions. I guess the wealth of collaborations killed any consistency for the album. She should try less hard to be original and just make good music.
Great music, bringing back memories from an annual local African music festival we had in our town in the 2000s. Really fresh with a live music vibe. First african album on the list so far, i hope there will be more. 4+
i love it. Great songs and vibe. Great albums dont have to be complex.
What an experience to listen to this record. It starts with a song with weird samples that made me fear this would be a one star review. But then there are several really funny and cool songs. Not sure if I will listen to it again but this stuff is why I started this project, to open my mind to new stuff. Three stars.
Loved it. I did not really know the band apart from their big hit and was very pleasantly surprised. Watching the videos from their hits was fun. Four stars
Really nice album. I had assumed some of their hits on the radio to be beatle songs and never explored them before. Cool discovery and looking forward to their other albums
In the past I listened to loose numbers but was never very impressed. After many stories that this album is so great I gave it another go from a high quality source, this time listening in one piece. I like it better now, although i dont consider it one of the best albums I have heard. Anyway, I’ll keep trying… four stars
Nice. I learned to appreciate it when my son played it over and over. Ozzy is cool.
I did not really like it at first listen . After reading a bit about it and listening again I was more positive. Maybe it will further improve given more time but for now I will not join the group of reviews who act as if it is brilliant.
Since i started the list, this is the first new album since I started the list about a month ago that blows me away. I dont know how I missed this music so far but I loved it…
Unconventional. Songs vary from annoying in the beginning to more musical towards the end. i will not listen to this again.
Two good songs, epitath and the title Song, but the rest are mediocre, moonchild in particular. 3.5 stars
Nice concert with some good hits. But not extremely memorable beyond that.
I had his album a long time ago but only recognize the hits. I like most songs, it reminds me of a time when I listened to Eels, Radiohead etc. Nostalgia.
nice pop album, smooth music and a great voice
I had never listened to him before. Decent rap, not as good as Snoop or Eminem for me but it did not bore me. 3.5 stars rounded up.
I guess it sounds quite modern for its time, with slick rapping. But i found the beats monotonous so musically it could not inspire me. 3 stars
Nice impressionistic album. The first songs are the strongest in my view, the album drags a bit towards the end with very long songs.
The album is OK with a few great hits. But as I remember I eventually got tired of those in 1989, I got tired of this album before it ended. The my bitch song must have inspired the fresh prince but then without the humor.
Ok rock but nothing too special from todays perspective. May impress more when doing the list in chronological order. Three stars
I had never listened to this before, the opening song blew me out. Such a strong emotions coming from it, it must have been great to see them at a festival. The rest of the album is very good as well, so 5 stars it is.
this album has some great songs and could have been legendary if they had not bothered with the failed concept attempt and made it more consistent. 4+. Mrs robinson alone made it a 4 already.
The album is OK but I did not find it very special. A few songs sound reasonable, whilst others have a gritty voice that I dont like much. 3 stars.
I am mostly new to their music and probably need a bit more time to appreciate it. For now, I can hear why it was so influential at the time, but prefer the more developed later music from e.g. Nirvana. Or one of the other albums. Three stars.
Maybe two three ok songs, the rest is quite boring. I can listen to this but it will probably not something I remember when I end this list. Three stars.
This album was like the music you hear while waiting when calling your insurance or standing in an elevator. Very slick but why is it on this list? 2-3 stars, rounded to 2
What a surprise to see this on the list. Brave choice from the authors. But I agree she shaped music in this era. A few of the songs are good, basically the hits, albeit very commercial. But there is also a lot of crap in the album beyond the hits. Three stars.
First half of the album is brilliant, it then disappoints after. Nevertheless, four stars.
A few songs were OK but this is not my favorite genre. I prefer Bjork in that case.
Good album, although I had gotten sick from the overplayed Lovefool in the 90s… low 4 stars
Fun 80s album with a lot of energy
great album, i nver listened to it before but like it much better than ever expected. What a beats. In doubt between 4 and 5 stars, decided to go for 4 since it does become repetitive at the end.
After 64 albums I did not have a single 1 star album. I guess this problem is solved now. I could act as if I understand the intent behind the music and give two stars but this was the first time I seriously doubted if I should finish listening. It is called noise for a good reason.
I liked this unexpectedly. Of course the hits, but there is a lot of variety in the rest. 4-5 stars, rounded upwards
Nothing wrong with it but also nothing special for me. Fine background music in a bar or so but just another jazz album that cannot thrill me.
I had not listened to this album in a long time. It is great again, with such a special voice. Maybe not every track is perfect but the album as a whole has such a special vibe that it merits five stars.
I had never heard of her, but am pleasantly surprised. She reminds me of Tracy Chapman a bit. I think the album requires more listenings so I’ll round it upwards to a 4.
Somehow I missed the hype around them when this came out, but it is nice to be able to listen to it quietly. I really like the hit songs, it was fun to watch the videos of them, and want to hear this album more often. Even though the last few songs are a bit less brilliant and repetitive i’ll give them five stars. I just want this album in my top list.
Nice listen in the beginning. But it gets boring, all the songs sound the same to me. Three stars
