Homework
Daft PunkSome very strong songs and lots of creativity, but it also has a few clunkers. Perhaps needed slightly more active listening than I was prepared to give it since its not fully my genre.

One of the all time greats, pretty much every song is a pop slam dunk. No notes.
Pretty easy & enjoyable listening. Moondace is a classic for a reason, but the rest of the album was new to me. I enjoyed all the songs, but am not floored. Hard to relate to whether it was innovative 50 years ago.
Really not my style. Monotonous singing, boring beats and lyrics which completely lack substance . I guess the best I can say is that it was not actively offensive to my ears? But I found myself constantly wanting to turn it off, so hard to give it more than a 1.
Something i listened to at age 12 or so. Really not my favourite genre these days, but it maintains some nostalgia. Still a hard listen, feels very teen-angst-edgy. Even if it grates at least there is some emotion in the stuff, unlike yesterdays rnb, so I feel I have to give it one higher just because of that. The real slim shady almost pulls it to a 3, but there was too much pure trash to get there.
Solid, you can hear many influences from ex. Beatles and other contemporaries but they are also very clearly their own thing. Easy listening but probably nothing I would regularly go back to.
Very much not my genre, but I'm enjoying it. Pretty pushy. It feels unfair to call something so varied monotonous, but at the same time it feels so improvised and varied that it all flows back into itself and I cant really distinguish between the tracks.
Pretty good, it's a band I've not really encountered much but its in my lane for sure. Maybe not a slam dunk, but many interesting sounds. looking at a 4 early on. Something I might actively put on.
Pretty generic punk sound, but it's ok. Not much to say, although why this one is includef over all the others I have a hard time telling.
Totally fine, if somewhat generic rock? obviously Another piece of my heart is a standout track and some of the others were very good. But I'm not going to go out of my way to get back to it. On the higher end of a 3, but till not cracking the higher rankings.
I've never really given Marley much of a chance, but I'm immediately finding it pretty interesting. The reggea beat is instantly recognizable. Enjoyed the listen, but don't see myself returning too much
This is borderline. Some cool songs, but it's pretty noisy. I appreciate that it's highly influential and all that, but ultimatelt it's hard to listen to for me.
Seems like a joke-band? Or maybe this is just the 90s vibe that I have forgotten. It's mostly just quite dull. Simple music and lyrics, not really seeing it.
Very chaotic, but this time in a way I like. Blister in the sun and add it up are some all time angry songs, the rest are good too but I don't see myself seeking it out too often.
A bad I have never heard or heard of. Starting out with a 20 minute mood piece is definitely a bold choice, but I'm enjoying it more than I would have expected.
It's hard to separate nostalgia from preference here, but both Today and Cherub Rock are deeply rooted in the psyche. Good album and I could for sure see myself going back to it.
Very Indie. Very enjoyable. Not every song hits, but when they do they do. This is right up my alley. Soft tones, lyrics with some interest. What's not to love?
Fully pleasant, but unchallenging. Sounds very 60s pop. Each track reminds me of the previous.
Perfectly cromulent. Some tracks are very good and some quite forgettable. A high 3, but ultimately i think it falls back on an overall sound I find a bit bland with the roomy soft guitars and basic drum patterns.
Interesting music, I can see how someone likes this but it requires very active listening. The mix placing the drums so far forward is also a bold choice which I am not 100% sure i agree with.
Now you are speaking my language. Very compelling album.
So many classic sounds. Very easy listening, but in a good way as opposed to some others.
Close to the edge is an all time banger, no notes. Every track is unique and complete. Maybe the instrumental stuff can drag, but it all works in the focused listen. Close to the edge the track is of course stand out, but Siberian Khatru and the cover of America are stellar shorter tracks to listen to with less commitment.
Probably very cool for its time, but it didn't really tickle me.
Its OK. very much jazz and nothing but. I'm sure its inspiring to some but it's mostly plinking to me.
It does not get much more 80s than this. Perfectly fine listening, but nothing to really get into. 3/5
Very chill, but intro is a classic and all around nice album. Not much to say, but this time in a good way.
Extremely basic rock? Noting stands out, which makes you wonder why they are here? Just to show what was on the radio at the time? Hard to give them a low score when its so inoffensive, but I can't see my self going back to it either.
Obviously one of the goats. Not every single track is great, but enough sure are.
Not my favourite genre, as has become plainly evident. This one was ok at best. The tracks are repetitive but at least not oppressive to the ears. It is very long though, and not really holding up as listening progresses. 2/5
Too much jazz. I'm sure it's great for the initiated, but it does not make a good album for the rest of us. Especially the talk in between all the tracks also extra annoying.
To my ears the quintessential disco. Not my standard fare, but as far as poppy stuff goes this has a good beat and appeal. The main knock is how repetitive the songs are. 3/5
Sounds in some ways incredibly generic psychedelic, but from what I'm reading this is one of the originators of the sound. That always muddies up the rating. Normally I would give it a 3 for being generically good but somewhat uninteresting.
It's very old school metal. It's fine, and again I'm sure it was revolutionary for its time, but I have a hard time giving it too high a grade. 3/5.
Mostly piano, but quite pleasantly so. Very repetitive.
An unexpected 4 for me. The first track is clearly problematic and I rather it wasn't there even if the music behind it is good the lyrics were bad then and have aged poorly. But ultimately I have to go on the quality of the rest of the album and it really encapsulates the rave sound of the time.
Clearly this is a classic, but musically it mostly just seems to be people saying random phrases over drum beats. Hard to give this more than a 1 from my own perspective.
A bit all over the place, at first I thought I was listening to a jazz album and then other things happened. It's dull, but at least each track is distinct unlike some of the other albums.
This sure is an aggressive album. No concern for the listener, only for novelty for the sake of novelty.
Feels like very average hard rock now? None of the hits I would have associated with Iron Maiden are here, but the sound is very clearly getting there. I enjoyed it, and will bump it up one for originality
Some absolute classics on this one, and it's a great album. Ultimately I think it's just a 4 for me because it's a bit much guitar. I get that that's his thing, but still.
This is one of those where my nostalgia gets to overwrite my snobbishness. Is this some deep and profound album with heaps of technical skill? no. But do I jam out to it just because its from my childhood? yes,
