Man, this album is quintessential 70's rock. Bangers all the way through.
This, to me, is what started Grunge. But their self-titled album is better, imo
This album is a joyous journey from start to finish
It reminded me of mid 2000's indie movies
This is what I'd imagine the Doors would sound like if they were around in 1980
I loved the sound, the vibe. Pretty chill album overall
Little rough, raw sounding, with a hint of surf rock. I enjoyed it.
This is THE seminal punk album.
If you like to hear talking, disinterested sci noises, and unenthusiastic butterfly symphonies, this is the album is for you.
Honestly solid album, PJ Harvey is one of the best female rock singers in the 90s.
This is like watching your favorite track star figure out how to walk. All the elements that made Queen great are in this album, but they haven't figured out how to put them together just yet. Queen's incredible, but they hadn't nearly hit their stride with this album.
Have you ever asked yourself, what is groove metal? Well, this is it.
Sweet dreams, music connoisseurs.
This has some absolute classic tracks on it, but some of the others are skippable.
I’m not the biggest fan of the police, but I did enjoy some of the deep tracks on this one.
You know what? for not knowing what they're singing about, I dig their sound.
This album is like a bad fever dream.
I was familiar with the hits like Tom Sawyer and Limelight, but was delightfully surprised at how solid this album is from start to finish.
This has some absolutely iconic tracks such as Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are, which were the peak of Grunge in my opinion. The rest of the album holds pretty steady.
Enjoyable vibe that's consistent throughout. I could listen to this album several times over.
This was an excellent album, full of original songs that have been covered by many artists.
This album made me feel like i was in some back alley off of bourbon street talking to some weird street doctor about second rate LSD.
This reminds me of a hot first date with a Glenda at Fazoli's where I purchased the baked spaghetti and she had the italian sandwich. We even got free refills on our drinks ;)
Technically, this is a fantastic album. Queen Latifah is a talented rapper, and this album is one of the ones that helps bridge the gap between early and late Golden Age Hip Hop. That being said, I just really couldn't get into it.
This is a solid album by Metallica. It's somewhere in between the thrashiness of Ride the Lightning, and shows signs of their newer sound that they did well on the Black album, but i prefer those two albums to this one.
This is a very solid Hip-Hop album. No frills, just awesome.
This is a really good album start to finish. Most everyone has heard the song Sultans of Swing, but the rest of the album holds up pretty well too.
I remember back when Babylon was being played on the radio all the time. I couldn't really get into it then and can't get into it now.
It's got a pretty chill vibe, and I could've stood to hear more about his time with Pocahantas. But I don't know if it has a lot of replayability for me.
Decent Soul album, but it doesnt speak to me.
Synth pop, but not on the same level as Tears for Fears
I liked it better than the clash, but only barely.
It's a double album, but Elton put a ton of bangers in it. Listen to it, or not. I'm not your boss.
What a brilliant funk album
This is something Dylan would've liked, that ambient loving motherfucker.
While this isn't typically the genre of music I'd listen to, I can't deny how excellent this album is. I really enjoyed listening to it.
Musically, it was decent. Lyrically, it was plodding and unimaginative. Chore of Enchantment is an ironically precise album title.
Oh man, I really enjoyed this album. It has a lot of replayability.
punk. punk punk punk. not crazy about it.
Solid album, but I prefered Born in the USA over this.
This was an eclectic mix of interesting genres, well worth the listen.
A personal favorite, with a ton of replayability.
Solid album, Beastie Boys have always been innovators when it comes to their sampling.
Electronic House music, from 1989? It holds up really well. Decent listen.
Uuhhhhh, i enjoyed the track "Where is my mind?" But the rest was take it or leave it.
Solid Soul album, honestly thought some of these songs came out later.
This is pretty solid, but there weren't any real standout songs on this double album. Marvin Gaye is a talented vocalist but I don't think this is his best album.
I found this a bit boring, to be honest. Reminded me of late night TV informercials. This is not what I want to see on the radio.
I wanted to rate this album higher, but it was a lot of the same thing. Introspective songs about unrequited love. They're great songs, but there's a lot of them on this album and not a lot of variety.
I have a hard time choosing between this album and Master of Puppets as my favorite Metallica album. Stylistically they're quite different, as the Black album isn't thrash at all, but has a ton of great tracks that are timeless.
First off, it's a long album, but it's fun listen to since you get to experience what a Who concert would've been like. I enjoyed it and have listened to it several times in the past.
The beats, the samples, the electronic bits are world class. The lyrics, not so much. You can tell Kanye was well on his way to going nuts by the time he wrote this.
Hell yeah, James Brown! My only real grief is that this album just seems to end prematurely, but it's a great listen.
Solid album, great beats, fun vocals. I'd listen to her other works.
This album exceeded my expectations. I give it a perfect 3 out of 5. It would be a perfect 4 out of 5 if i wanted to listen it to it more times, and a perfect 5 out of 5 if i put it on permanent rotation. Perfect 3 out of 5.
This is what phantogram would have sounded like in 1984. Decent listen.
Man, felt like a Pierce Brosnan 007 movie. Liked it.
Not a single bad song anywhere on this album. I can listen to this album everyday. Legendary.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if they took pyschedlic rock and folk music, and combined it into one album?
This is it, and it's well worth a listen.
Decent folksy/rockly ballad album
Fun simple beats and riffs. You can tell this album influenced a lot of other artists in its era. Not necessarily something I would put on repeat though.
I don't find this very compelling, but it's ok.
Paul is a tremendous songwriter, but this LoFi album has a very rough feel to it.
This album is like a Jackson Pollock painting, just a bunch of shit splashed together and a bunch of critics tugging on each others' members congratulating themselves on understanding it.
The A-side was standard-grade rock noise and not particulaly enjoyable.
The B-side was one of the oldest and greatest classic rock songs of all time.
This was a toss up between 3 and 4. While lyrically it isn't much, honest to god this album is just fun listen to throughout.
Maybe the best album from The Doors, solid listen throughout, with some absolute masterpieces as L.A. Woman and Riders on the Storm. Too bad Jim Morrison died for this album.
Different, but i liked it. Modern psychedlic folk.
It was okay. I don't think it was particularly transformative so I question it's inclusion on this list.
if it were produced by new world monkeys i'd give it 5 stars.
Not the biggest fan of punk. SORRY NOT SORRY.
You know what? It's a solid hard rock album. But not one of the alltime greats.
It's pretty plain folk, imo.
Proto-punk? You know, not bad. I'm not the biggest fan of punk but I like a lot of the other elements that went into this album.
I didn't know what he was saying most of the time, but it was still fun.
While it was frustrating to try to find this album online, I'm not going to let that affect my overall impression of it.
It's a decent house/dance album and I enjoyed the sampling. It was pretty solid throughout. However it's not something I'd necessarily want to add to my normal rotation. That might explain why it's so hard to find.
ugh, its art rock, but it was a slog to listen to.
Imagine was one of the timeless songs. Imagine the album, not so timeless, but solid throughout.
Top two maybe top one Radiohead album. it pisses excellence.
I feel like Trip-Hop is trying to do something but doesn't know what it wants to do.
That's this album, a little bit of motion that goes nowhere.
I'd say this is an acquired taste, but only if you like noise rock. I like loud, I like metal, but I'm not that found of this.
Even though this album is missing Bruce Dickinson, yes THE Bruce Dickinson, this is still a solid album. It lays the blue print for heavy metal rifts that you see on later ablums.
I'm not going to tell you this is his quintessential album. He's got more iconic albums for sure. But it's a damn good folk album worth listening to over and over again.
I imagine that Robin Williams used to listen to this album all the time in the 80's.
it's fine. if i had a vagina i'd appreciate it more.
THRASH METAL THRASH METAL YYEEAARRRGGHGHH
This is their second installement and it's a great example of 80's thrash. Enjoy.
Musically, this is really well done. I just couldn't get into the album myself.
I understand why this album was so hard to find. Junkyard is such an appropriate title for it.
Terrible.
I want to stay inside all day and wear dark leather and make up whenever i listen to this album.
I enjoyed this more than Different Class. Every song on the album was solid, and I listened to it multiple times.
Uh, kinda like it actually. I could see myself revisiting this. I could stand to listen to more about the village green.
It's got some famous classic hits on it, but the rest of the album is relatively weak compared to their other works
I found this whole album easy to sing along too, especially track 2.
Bowie is great, I think I just expected more.
I got so damn excited when i saw the title of this, despite never hearing this before.
Honestly, it met my high expectations.
Elvis is classic, and this album is solid throughout.
This is a rhythm and blues album, the first track sounds a little rock so it throws you off, but this whole album slaps, as the kids would say.
This album is solid throughout, definitely one of the top oasis albums. Not a single track is a miss
Pretty solid album with a pretty solid album.
Reminded too much of Doctor Jones, but this dude definitely didn't practice no medicine.
I really enjoyed this album. I'd listen to this again for sure.
This album is difficult to rate, because the title song is one of the best soul songs ever, but the album loses steam as it goes along. The first few songs are 5 stars, the end of the album is 3 stars. I'll take the average on this and call it a 4 star album.
