Surprised by this one, did not expect it to be so groovy!

Absolutely not.

It has been a very long time since I’ve listened to this in its entirety, certainly not since the days of the portable Sony cd player and poor quality headphones. The remaster is simply amazing and I really enjoyed hearing certain riffs and lyrics that I don’t remember hearing before. That said, listening to this again is like a gut punch. This takes me back to a time I’d rather not remember, yet I am so thankful this music was there when I needed it most. This is a one and done album for me in middle age.

Not bad, reminds me of Bowie

I rated this a 3 because in my system, it means I liked enough of it that it is already on or has just been added to a playlist. But also.. ew.

Bland alt indie rock

Reading the negative reviews here, I expected some warbling mess of experimental sounds and nonsensical lyrics. Instead what I got was an early predecessor of Tori Amos, hauntingly beautiful and lyrically stunning. This Woman’s Work - WOW, adding that to my favourites

Pedophile rock, absolutely not

I was 14 when this album came out, just entering high school. It’s hard to describe just the absolute zeitgeist surrounding Nevermind and how much this changed everything. I came ready to give this a 3, maybe 4 star review, just because of the sheer over played-ness and saturation of this through the early to mid nineties. I still prescribe to that era’s many anti-consumerism, anti-mainstream ideals and if something is popular then it must inherently be less than. But listening to this critically, honestly it’s just so so good from start to finish. I even listened to endless, nameless- which I definitely skipped back in the day - and it’s so fucking good as an end cap after something in the way. The simplicity, rawness, and absolute beauty of harmonies while being shrouded by dirt, clouds, and grunge is magical and this album really was the greatest and shaped who I am and the music I still listen to.

Never got in to oasis back in the day, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything from this album outside the hits. They were definitely ubiquitous enough that even the most casual fan could belt out wonderwall at the impromptu guitar circle back in the 90s, but they never hit me as a band with much depth. Having just listened for the first time… yeah, definitely made a good call there.

My all time favourite album drops on the same day I upgrade my AirPods - serendipity. This is still a part of my regular rotation and hasn’t lost an ounce of shine for me. The first half of the album is where the hits lie, but it’s the back half that is truly great.
