Reviews (page 14 of 14)

I've always been reluctant to listen to Adele, often labelling her as miserable (true to an extent), but I enjoyed this album more than I expected to.

I've heard at least one of these songs before, but ended up liking the album more than expected.

I recognize her talents. Amazing pipes, great lyrics. Yet, the music (chord structure, instrumentation) just isn’t very interesting in the end.

Like the depth of her feeling and voice but don't think either are served by the orotund phrasing and production

Still haunting

Cheer the fuck up. After 3 albums did She ever stop to think the problem might be her? Songwriting is actually pretty basic considering there's a team of the fuckers. strong vocal tbf but theres plenty of those. 2/5

I think this album is overrated and all of the singles except send my love aren’t that great but it’s still Adele so it’s good even if it’s not as good as 19 or 21 or 30. All I need and send my love are the standouts

This is not on my copy of the list, once again putting on full display the absurd turn around time for new albums getting tossed on the list and then relegated to the dustbin. The single is a banger, but Adelle is a talent for making bangers. I've never bothered to give an album of hers a deep dive. Momcore isn't exactly a go-to genre for me, although I guess I'm glad there's someone out there not bad carrying the torch for Cher and Melissa Ethridge. I'm about halfway through at this point and, unfortunately, the singles are carrying this album pretty hard. Final verdict: A few standout moments but overall not essential.

One of the best singers of our generation. Album makes you happy sad.

Hello from the other side

Pretty easy to see why this album was so popular

Does anyone buy it when these low-end department store background music singers get writing credits? Every song on this album was written by a different person/writing team - there's no way Adele's involvement extended beyond changing a few vocal lines once she was already in the studio. I'm also gonna put on my hipster hat and say it: this is horrendously factory-produced pop drivel. The songs feel like they came from a textbook, they're full of manufactured emotion and presented as an immense personal journey for Adele. Which begs the question: was said journey just as immense for the other 50 people who wrote this shit? 1/5.

I prefer the white-hot angry Adele of 21 over the blue regret-filled Adele of 25, but it’s still a nice listen.

I really tried but I found this bland. Three stars as she must be doing something I am missing and her voice is something special

I feel like Adele is someone I shouldn't really like, only because I put her in the same category as artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion, and I really don't care for any of them. But damn it's hard not to like her. Such an amazing voice, coupled with powerful, emotional songs. 4 stars.

oh. just what i wanted to listen to today.

Love her music and this album. Some of these songs are heart-wrenching that's so good.

rly enjoyed listening to adele sing about sad shiht. that second song is a certified banger

I like Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You, neither of which is on this album. Still, I thought this album has some potential to be a nice one. Turns out, I really don't care for any of her other songs than the two aforementioned. Adele has a really good voice. But her songs are soooo boring. It's just cookie-cutter pop music. A complete waste of time.

Now you're pushing it

13th May 2022 no idea what’s going on with dates Listened during the day while working from home, went to the pub with Cox to watch the north London derby. Not Adele’s best, but hello is a classic and there are some very moving songs on here. One of the great modern voices.

her voice is incredible and its wild how popular this became. Lots of praise for specialty production but not in a way that I can super recognize....humbling lol.

My greatest respects to Adele. She's a wonderful singer songwriter but, some songs haven't grow very well with me in this album . If you heard them too many times you don't want to hear them again for a long long time while some others are just mediocre to typically good . At least she doesn't cheat by using autotune like many others of her age and that is plus. Overall a good album 3.5

I thought I had already reviewed this. But no, this is the same album with a slightly different cover.

"All I Ask" is so hauntingly gorgeous. Glad I got to re-visit this album again! As much as I love 21, this record's definitely up there as well.

Some really great tracks on the b side I liked it way more than I expected to

wow i liked this a lot more than i was expecting.

I did not expect this album to have no skips. It absolutely has no skips. This album is pop writing done incredibly well. Fantastically written and Adele’s voice is insane. This goes beyond the singles and is a solid album.

Not really my thing personally if I'm being honest but I can still definitely respect her vocal talents and the songwriting quality of this album. I don't know if I'd seek it out but I wouldn't complain if it was on.

Couldn't bring myself to listen, I can do without the diabetic shock. I liked it back in the day, but I'm as far from torch ballads as I can be at the moment

She has an amazing voice and I really enjoyed this album but I will say that her song style are similar.

Strong album from Adele. Only a couple tracks that were more pop that I thought were a bit weak. I could listen to power ballads all day. Hello is 10/10 and also really liked Sweetest Devotion.

I suspect this is slightly over-rated.

Pop, soul. Melódico. Aburridito.

A good album but not nearly as great as her first, IMO. Feels much more over produced. Has more of a pop sentiment and is less soulful. Still... she's pretty amazing.

21 is more consistent, but 25 has the higher highs. Best track: Hello

Good for what it is, plus a couple singles that belong on her greatest hits collection

Although the mood of the album can feel interminably conservative to the point of bleeding and blurring into each other, 25 showcases Adele doing what Adele does best: conveying heart, soul, emotion and regalia in her music. One can understand why this became a smash once it dropped six and a half years ago. Favorites: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Remedy, River Lea, Love in the Dark, A Million Years Ago.

She’s a good singer and although I enjoyed her hits, I am definitely not into pop. I can’t say that most of her songs are memorable.

Not usually my bag but she is undeniably sensational

2.7 - How can Adele be so talented and yet so boring? This record is totally devoid of any risks, and presents no distinct point-of-view. She's a young woman who's lived with heartbreak, has had a chance to process her pain privately and is ready to move forward with her life. Wow, Adele, so profound, and yet so relatable - it’s like she’s one of us! And I hate that she's consistently chosen to share only the most tiresome parts of her love-life. We see her always at the “crossroads”, saying goodbye with sincere regret but looking ahead to what's next. Has she never experienced the fun of being in love? The giddiness of meeting someone, the anticipation of being intimate? And why has she chosen to sanitize her pain? It's all very vague. Where are the tears that left smears of mascara on her face? What about the hours spent jealously stalking a lover on Facebook? I'm sure critics have praised this as a "mature" record (*wretch*). As expected, Adele's voice is luscious - she's truly blessed. But why use that exceptional voice to convey only the most unexceptional, "everywoman" feelings? By the end I find all the operatic belting and "you-got-this-girl" sentiments nauseating.

Pretty stellar album with incredible vocals and strong songs from start to finish. 9/10.

Similar to how her previous album sweeped Grammy awards, 25 walked away with two awards and the leading single, "Hello", earned 3. Obviously, the industry views Adele as a powerhouse. I do not share that sentiment. They're not bad songs, but they're not the most fantastic or memorable songs either. Adele does little to push her pop songs in new and interesting directions. Great for casual listening audiences that tune into the radio and not much more, but not so much for me. Has Adele earned a rightful spot in the annals of pop history? Sure. Has she earned a spot on any of my playlists? Probably not.

Pretty standard pop diva stuff. For some reason she seems to appeal to me more than most of the others, not sure why but I think she has a touch of I due in her. 3 🌟

Voz espectacular femenina con un gran timbre. Canciones muy bien elaboradas. Para amantes de grandes voces.

Average singer Adele returns with some more radio songs. This set is a little less show-tuney, a bit more The Knife lite. Not for me.

10/10 Adele must be protected at all costs.

Adele is who I listen to when I need to be sad and empowered at the same time.

Obviously very talented but not for me

Quite like Adele as a singles artist, none of the songs I knew were here though and found it surprisingly dull

I guess I was surprised by how many songs I actually knew from this album without knowingly listening to it before ("Hello", "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", "When We Were Young"). That's what being the second best selling album of the 2010 decade does: makes you a major staple of the pop culture. It's hard not appreciate the talent: a searing, powerful, soulful voice. Most songs are extremely dramatic and about relationships and regrets. They tend to be the former state of a relationship not necessarily a story. Working with superstar producers and writers, the production and songs sound great. On the critique side if that ene matters, most of the songs and structures are formuliac and the album tends to drag in the second half. The exception is the last song, "Sweetest Devotion", which might have been my favorite song on the album..traditional rock band structure, great backing vocals and especially her voice. l do like her next album "30" better which I'm sure is also in my future.

Some songs like I Miss You and When We Were Young are very interesting. Others like Send My Love and Water Under The Bridge are obnoxious. Very two-sided album.

Love the voice, but the songs have a sameness to them that gets tedious after a while.

Amazing voice but not really my thing. Obviously have heard Hello a million times, everywhere...but liked Send My Love and Million Years Ago more. Paul adds: Great voice, but there's a sameness about the songs that makes it feel tedious by the end.

Vocals that are as slippery and enticing as an eel ad. Some big songs, mixed with a few middle-of-the-roads.

Not my cup of tea.

Mjög góð plata. Þarf að stúdera nánar.

This one would be better featuring in a book called “1001 albums you will likely be subjected to before you die”. I may be jaded partly by the fact that it wss only a week ago that i got 21, another Adele album. Full disclosure. i did not listen to all of it. But i tried. Twice. both times i made it about 6-7 songs in before I realised i wasn’t listening and her voice was distracting me from my thoughts and irritating me. i was quite surprised to hear that she actualy wrote a lot of these songs herself. They sound like they are manufactured to showcase her voice. But they are bland, manufactured pop trash. Kmart background noise. Great music sounds like it is beimg performed with passion. This has some of the ingredients, her voice is good, it is clearly well produced and no doubt the session musicians are spot on. But it has no soul. No narrative. And her great voice becomes whiney. No thanks. i hope there are no more Adele albums in this project.

Adele is a breath of fresh air. Real songs and a real voice with no auto tune

Music for mums 1.5 stars.

Obviously talented. Enjoyed 'Send My Love' and 'All I Ask'. The rest is a bit boring, and I can't handle that much sad/soppiness in one go. Needs cheering up a bit.

Incredible voice but could do with cheering up a bit. Moan moan moan.

Does little for me but hard to say she's not brilliant.

Still beautiful and powerful singing, but also a lot of anonymous fillers

She’s a damn good singer and I appreciate that her songwriting is deeply expressive without being so blatantly dirty laundry airing the way that idiot Taylor Swift’s is. This isn’t the kind of music I like to listen to, but I have a lot of respect for her tremendous talent. The album feels too repetitive in tone as it goes on to really give me what I need to be converted to a fan.

Top bird with a cracking set of... Lungs.

Incredible album, will stand the test of time I'm sure

Her voice is great but not for me.

meh.... even if i'm extremely open-minded on this one... it's just boring to me and got bored right after the third track. Also, i never understood why people love Hello and feel that it's emotional... it just comes out corny to me...

Fuld fløde, klaver, god vokal

Adele sings well.

Pop vocal is just not my wheel house, so I sm most certainly NOT the one to judge this albums artistic merit. For me this album sounds generic in its pop vocal performance. Her voice is sublime there is no doubt but you better bring more to the table than a pretty voice to catch my ear. First off ballad after ballad makes for a boring listen for me. When she does open up a little like on Send My Love...it sounds like rip off of the Lorde hit from 2 years earlier. I'm not an Adele officialdom but I've never heard anything that comes any where near Rolling in the Deep. As I type Sweetest Devotion comes on and it's easily the best song on the album. Makes the album climb from a 2.5 stars to 3 🌟.

big songs, not sure i can take a full album of it, but the compositions are a notch above her peers

White women love this shit. So does this white boy. Maybe not AS much - I'm Team Taylor, she won me over with the Folklore/Evermore Combo all the way back in 2020. You don't want to wrong Adele, unless you want an album about how you done her wrong.

Part of me wishes I saw in this album what everyone else saw in it when it came out, and while it's good, it's not the genre-defining masterpiece others seem to regard it as. Decent tho!

Muy buen disco

Hello it is me

Adeles powerful vocals overpower some mediocre lyrics, there are some absolute classics on here but I found that many tracks got a little too repetitive over time

This is one of the first records that Walden really liked. I haven't listened since he was probably 2-3 years old. So, 5ish years. As soon as I heard the first chords of "Hello" I was struck. This is such a good record and she is an amazing talent. I don't think the production is going to stand the test of time. Which is a shame, because Adele doesn't need any of that shit. Her talent is timeless, but it can't overcome those muted drum sounds for a perfect score.

I'm not quite sure if I'm ashamed to admit this or not, but I really like Adele's music. She is an undeniable, generational talent. And it's not just the voice, but the authenticity. Not sure what else to say really. Any album that has this many hits (even in today's over-commercialized market) is impressive.

Like the first song, the rest not really a fan.

Thought her previous album was the classic one? That one contained at least one great song (Rolling in the Deep)...

Vocal acrobatics, but not in a good way. What a waste.

Normally not my genre... But she is so f**king talented. Her voice is tremendeous, but the record becomes repetative, as there is not much development. A solid album, well produced. Removed from the list (2018), and surely there are new albums that can replace this one.

Likeable pop. Powerful voice. Hard to criticize Adele, but I'm not a big fan of this. Could be my age, but it sounds way overproduced and overly dramatic.

I enjoyed listening to this. I especially liked the songs that I hadn't heard before. I don't know that it'll cause me to listen to her more. The biggest obsession about Adele that I have is the fact that Rick Beato is obsessed with her. I LOVE to listen to him talk about her!

I actually find her voice a bit overwrought and I can’t listen to it all in one go. It lacks subtlety and nuance in the sound, but you can’t deny that she’s a good song writer. I’d probably prefer to listen to Kraftwerk than this.

I've never listened to an Adele album all the way through. I've always assumed that radio and shopping centres will provide me with enough of her (admittedly quite good) music. Obviously I've heard Hello a lot. The third beat song with that word in the title. I have a massive soft spot for it, as my daughter used to sing it when she was too small to pick up all the words. So I always remember her versions when I hear it. Hello. It's me, I've been waiting for this moment in the unagalaxy. Send My Love To Your New Lover is familiar and pretty good too. The next couple of tracks are pretty samey though. She definitely has a comfort zone... I recognize, but am fairly ambivalent about Remedy, and River Lea wakes me up a little, if only because I used to like a run along there. There's not much else worth writing home about tbh. She has an incredible voice, but it largely gets used in one way, which limits the enjoyment I can get out of it.

Not my cup of tea. Overly produced and I'm not wild about the timbre of her voice.

Not bad, love Adele’s voice, but find the music behind it uninspired

Adele is Adele. I already knew her and this album. Okay, she might have been inspired by some song here or there, so to say, yet this is a good piece. She deserves it.

One I was already familiar with before this experiment. Loved getting a chance to listen to the album!

I'm surprised I've never sat down and listened to the whole album before. What a tour de force.

A classic. Of course.

It is a modern classic!

This album is actually a jam all the way through. The writing is a little repetitive but is more mature and nuanced than a lot of pop. It's cool that she mostly writes her own material (albeit with cowriters).

Very powerful and talented. Closer to a 4 than I expected though. I had to listen twice to get hit by the melancholy nostalgia that runs through the album. Make me ache for a simpler time.

Grande cantora, mas arranjos ok. Não surpreende positivamente
