The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Bob DylanI honestly don't get the big deal with Bob Dylan. Bored the balls off me.
I honestly don't get the big deal with Bob Dylan. Bored the balls off me.
I hate this fucking guy.
Absolutely brutal.
Thought this was brilliant. Natalie's Party and Daniella are both superb and book end some absolutely brilliant 90's indie music.
I screamed.
🤘🏻
Some brilliant songs, some that I didn't like at all.
The worst album I've ever heard. Would have given 0 stars if it had been possible.
Best album so far.
Great voice and a few high points music wise, but it has way too much saxophone and isn't a genre I'd listen to again.
Boring as fuck.
Superb. London Loves and To The End particularly.
All good songs but they all sound the same.
A pleasant surprise.
Seen Toy Story too many times to take this seriously. Inoffensive.
Couple of decent tunes but very of its time.
Could be higher if the first half was same standard as the brilliant second half.
Very good.
Was a 3 until Goldfinger.
High two star. Was okay.
A wonderful album.
Incredible - deeply moving.
Didn't mind this at all. Almost a 3 star.
Enjoyed this more than I expected.
Two genuinely brilliant songs - possibly two of the best ever, but so much average on it. Really disappointed.
Liked this a lot.
Superb. So close to 5 star.
هذا ليس شيئًا لكني أطلب منك أن تضع في اعتبارك أنني أملك الألبوم الثاني لفرقة الراب outkast Although the version of imagine is tremendous 😂
Easy listening. Inoffensive. Just what I needed at the time. Wouldn't listen to it again.
Just a wall of noise. Not the worst thing I've ever heard but wouldn't go back to it.
Fine. Just fine.
Very good. I find some of the singing a tad annoying but it doesn't stop me liking this a lot. A vinyl pick up, without question.
Would listen again.
Really liked this one. Pity they fucked it all up.
Overrated shite. He's done way better stuff than this.
Started well but overall it's just not for me at all.
Great voice but all very samey.
Brilliant.
Absolutely brutal.
Never heard of this guy but knew at least a third of these songs. Excellent stuff.
Very decent. Interesting. Would probably listen again.
The singles, which are all bangers, aren't even the best songs on this record. It's really fucking spectacular.
Thought this was very decent.
Solid but wouldn't listen again.
Other than Second Hand News, which gets on my tits, every song is brilliant.
Couple of decent songs. Rest is forgettable.
Wasn't great. Beat heavy and low on tunes.
A really catchy album 😎
An enjoyable upbeat listen.
Painfully boring. She's a nice singer but this isn't made for me.
If it had all been like street life it would have been a decent score.
It was just okay on the one listen I've given it. Will provably go back and give it so more tries because it was interesting, just not what I was expecting as the follow-up to Paranoid Android.
This is the second time this has come up on one of my groups. First time I thought it was just okay. I now think this is a vinyl pickup. Superb tunes.
Wonderful album with some amazing songs. Columbia, Slide Away and Supersonic are as good as it gets from that era of music. Did I mention Shakermaker is shite?
20 minutes too long. Might have squeezed a 3 star out if it weren't for that.
Heroes is a good song and worth a star, the rest is worth a star. Overall I won't listen again.
Not my cup of tea but can't argue with the skill of the musicians.
Brilliant album. Not given it 5 star because there are better albums on the list that I've already rated 5 star.
Hate it. Hate the artist.
Inoffensive but uninspiring. Wouldn't listen again.
2.4 star. Some nice guitar accounts for the majority of the rating. All the songs sound the same.
Would listen again. Opening 5 minute instrumental was excellent.
Surprised I don't hate it.
There's just something about this album. I absolutely loved it. Probably my favourite so far.
Expected to hate it, really liked the first track and nothing after offended me but the album could do with being shorter.
Didn't hate it.
Shit.
Melody for an unknown girl ruined this for me. Solid 3 star except for this song.
Would buy this on vinyl.
Didn't mind it but never been a fan of motor head and this hasn't encouraged me to change that position.
I didn't mind this. Probably a low 3.
2 star because I enjoyed the riffs. Lyrics on this are terrible.
Good. Would listen again. Her voice is beautiful.
I liked this
Thought it was average
Didn't know any of the songs beforehand but will buy this on vinyl. Tight as fuck. I know it's not on the actual original album but the funk guitar on My Brain (zig zag) is superb.
Didn't mind it but too outside my comfort zone for a high score. Would never listen again.
It was okay for what it was. Didn't get on my nerves, probably amused me more than anything.
Didn't mind this.
Stunning. They are absolutely wonderful here. The song choices are perfect, the Meat Puppets are a great addition to this and Where Did You Sleep Last Night? is incredible. If I could have been at one show, this would have been it.
It's just okay. Better than some of their other shite.
Tried, honestly tried but it's just shite.
Wonderful stuff
A work of absolute genius.
Sounded like bad Joy Division. 2 star for some of the bass playing in it, singing and lyrics are not for me.
Liked this a lot
Wasn't what I was expecting. Thought.it was going to be Death Metal. As folksy stuff goes it was okay.
Liked this more than I expected. ‘I ain’t superstitious’ was a nice change of pace as well. Would listen again.
Thought this was very good, way better than I expected. Might listen again.
Loved this tbh
Really liked this. Guitars are mud but that’s okay with me 😎
Quite liked it. Perfect music if you’re sitting in a nice bar but I don’t think I’d want to play this at home again.
Very good, but like some of their other albums more.
I screamed.
Just okay, hate the 80’s style beats, scratching and music.
Thought this was excellent. Enjoyed the guitar playing throughout.
Very 80’s and for once that proved to be a good thing.
It’s just not my thing.
Very listenable. China Girl and Dum Dum Boys are the stand out tracks imho.
A great listen 👍🏼
I like Metallica a lot but this is very pretentious. The orchestral element doesn’t add anything to the songs, quite the opposite. Several times I thought it sounded like the songs had been adapted for a movie soundtrack. A real shame.
Bland
Last song is pointless and the rest aren't much better.
Quite liked this.
It’s okay this. Wouldn’t seek it out again but was absolutely fine on in the background.
Surprisingly nothing on this annoyed me. All very enjoyable.
Could have been a five star album if they’d picked the right 12-14 songs. Just too much bloat here.
Lyrically not great but found it to be very interesting nonetheless.
Was decent in places.
A very decent listen. Nice guitar on this and enjoyed the vocals.
Dark lyrics but somehow it manages to be extremely enjoyable.
Super album but not quite a 5 star.
Close to a 3 star, didn’t like the final few songs but was good until that point.
Was enjoying it but it was too long and by the end I couldn't wait for it to finish.
Thought this was excellent.
Bland.
Expected to like this a lot, was left feeling meh
I hoped for so much but overall found it a bit boring.
Real decent groove to this album.
Turned it off. Not sure who would listen to this. Maybe you needed to be there 🤔
This is the drizzling shits.
Was decent.
I groaned when I saw this come up but really enjoyed this. Would listen again and probably buy on vinyl.
A very easy listen.
A definite vinyl purchase. Wonderful stuff.
It’s a fucking banger.
I’m hearing a slightly better version of Gossip here.
This could have been 3 star but for the stupidity of the second half. Shame.
Can't believe it but this is decent. Heirloom is the best track on the album.
There was potential here but he says N more than wu tang clan, it was juvenile in parts and the later controversies aren't a surprise after listening to this.
I enjoyed this more this time than when it came up previously in my personal list. High 3 star but not quite 4.
Very enjoyable.
I really don’t get shoegaze at all but not on par with some of the shite I’ve rated as 1 star. Wouldn’t listen again.
Atmospheric but will happily live my life and never listen to it ever again.
Lovely stuff, would listen again.
Really good, would probably listen to this again.
It’s well played and doesn’t warrant a 1 star. It’s just not my thing at all.
Great stuff 👍🏼
Brilliant but wouldn’t listen to anything other than The Model again.
Adored.
Not bad.
Phairly good.
As bland as it comes and for some reason I like it 👍🏼
The singles on this album are absolutely brilliant.
This is brilliant. It loses a star for being made by U2.
Silly but some brilliant stuff on here. Drumming is as good as I’ve heard during the album club.
Great album, 15-20 minutes too long. Vocals and guitars are brilliant.
The best jazz we’ve had yet (which isn’t saying much).
Everything here works, even the vocal which should annoy me but doesn’t.
Not great
Liked this. Listened to a couple of times since, Just To Get A Rep is the best song on it.
Was a high 3 based on Chameleon. Fell away after that.
Enjoyable.
Finally discovered that the best way to listen to Brian Eno is in the background when you're working.
Good voice but not for me.
Never got it, still don't.
Did nothing for me.
Great stuff. Would have liked a bit more.
Really enjoyed the second half of the album. Couple of the openers went nowhere for me.
Brilliant stuff.
Very good, loved her voice.
This is a review. Has high points. Then makes me listen to them over and over and over again for the next 9 minutes. This is a review. Has high points. Easy listening and couple of proper classics.
Thought this was excellent other than the sax solo in The Gumbo Variations. Totally killed my enjoyment of the song.
Heard this for the first time 15 years ago. Loved it then, love it now. Can understand why it’s an acquired taste though so 2s & 3s won’t surprise me.
Probably the biggest surprise I’ve had on this group. Guitars and drums are brilliant.
Meh Meh Mehs
Great first half, weaker second. Still very enjoyable.
The end of country music that I don’t enjoy. Not much wit, all a bit ballady.
Started off hating it but by the end it slightly won me over.
Brilliant. Would be a 5 star but for a couple of the less serious songs in the middle.
Fuck me I hate them.
Brilliant fun album.
Superb.
I don't like this. Too different from Stand! in my opinion.
I love her voice, piano playing and the lyrics. Really interesting and this could have been a 4 star but some parts are too jazzy for my tastes.
Thought it was excellent throughout.
Gets a star for first half of band on the run. The rest is just okay. Like the cover. It gets a star too.
Was okay. Wouldn't rush back to it but it didn't piss me off either.
One is a tune. Rest of it is fine but never really hits the same heights.
High 2 star. Lovefool is a great song but I find it all sounds the same.
I didn't mind this at all. Great voice, Nick of Time and The Road's My Middle Name are both very decent songs.
Absolutely wonderful. This is all very good and then you have Life on Mars which is on another level to almost everything. Loved Mick Ronson's guitar on Andy Warhol as well.
Would go back and listen again. Found it to be very interesting.
Second half was very enjoyable. But wouldn't listen again.
Break on through and Light My Fire get a star each. Rest of it is very average. Maybe you needed to be there.
I understand why people love or hate Elliott Smith. Its dreary and a tad depressing but I always enjoy his music.
A load of absolute nothing and I hate his voice.
Some interesting ideas, but really not for me at all. Only the fact it is well done saves it from 1 star.
Great vibe throughout and some classic tunes.
Interesting through out. Liked it a lot.
Fuck off
Shite and Wikipedia suggests he’s a total prick.
Pretty dark - enjoyable all the same.
Surprised Clapton would put together something which is so bland.
Can appreciate that this is a good album but I would never listen again.
Great fun. Close to 4 star.
Two good openers followed by a load of old shit.
This is okay, but I never got the wankfest.
I liked The Wall. Can't get over it! Yeooooooooooooooo
This was okay. Not my thing but it made me smile a couple of times.
Not for me
A low 3. Really don’t like Australia or Kevin Carter. Not surprised that the singles from this album had no Richey James co writes.
Brilliant stuff
I thought it was really good but also really quite boring.
Really liked this. Also didn't realise this was basically a dave grohl solo album. Impressively talented man.
This shit don't stink.
Not great
All very samey. High points are very decent but overall it bored me a tad.
Very decent
Very entertaining.
This was getting a 1 star until the last 2 tracks which are absolutely brilliant. Both 1 star songs to my ears.
I didn't mind this but I didn't love it either. Animal nitrate worth a star on its on own. Remainder worth a couple extra.
Started well enough but overly long and ended up fucking me off.
Good Christmas album ruined by Phil Spector being a part of it.
This movie sound track stuff is well made and well played, but still leaves me cold.
Always enjoyed a bit of Bush, however this was not for me.
Not great. Some bang average covers here.
I'm assuming the front cover is Neil Tennant listening to this album.
I honestly don't get the big deal with Bob Dylan. Bored the balls off me.
Stunning - never heard of this before but will be listening again.
Brilliant throughout, interesting and track order is perfect.
Naf as fuck but spawned one of my favourite 90s dance tracks and the rest is decent. I'm feeling generous.
Heard this last year and quite liked it. Today it bored the balls off me.
Very decent although very samey - the singer has a good voice.
Thought this was excellent throughout. Very uplifting.
No doubting his talent but this isn't much fun.
Mostly brilliant - close to a 5 star.
Listened twice now. Not for me.
God only knows is a wonderful song. The rest doesn't annoy me but it doesn't grab me either.
On second listen the opening is too poor to give it a 4 star review. Second half is great fun though.
Didn't listen to it again, this is the score from original listen on solo list.
Thought this was brilliant. Natalie's Party and Daniella are both superb and book end some absolutely brilliant 90's indie music.
Just standard USA punk in my opinion. Quite fun but nothing to change my life. The 1001 albums review of this album is laughable btw.
Didn't like the last 2 tracks and considered giving this a 3 star but the rest of it is brilliant.
Couple of absolutely brilliant songs on this and the rest are all very good.
Trim some songs down and this could have been higher.
Wasn't massively keen despite the fact that Kool Keith's flow on this is flawless.
Not bollocks.
Enjoyable.
Decent in parts but very samey.
Reminded me of Aqualung and that's a good thing.
I love the G-funk genre but not this album. It has moments but is lyrically appalling. Main issue for me is that there isn't a single song on this that I'd want to add to a playlist.
Thought it was okay but everything sounds the same. Some of the tracks are way too long.
I find it both interesting and boring.
Really liked this. Great voice and enjoyed the slightly slow ambient pace.
So close to a 3. If only she could sing.
It's okay but not my cup of tea.
A brilliant live album.
Like Pet Sounds without the couple of great songs to save it.
Brilliant - found a couple of new songs I hadn’t heard before but will definitely listen to again.
Doesn’t know what it wants to be. All over the place, couple of decent tracks but that’s it.
A scraped 4, high points are great but too long.
Close to a 4. Really good throughout.
Enjoyed it way more than I thought I Wood.
Shocked at how good it was, particularly since I wasn’t found of No Sleep til Hammersmith.
One of my all time favourites. Superb.
Incredible voice but could do with cheering up a bit. Moan moan moan.
Like the guitar, lyrics, her voice. Brilliant.
I get why this album is highly regarded. I just find the pace too slow and end up bored every time I listen to it.
Enjoyable.
Caught me from the first track and kept me interested throughout. Music and lyrics are brilliant.
This could have been 4 or 5 star if it wasn't so fucking long.
Brilliant album.
How the fuck are these lot considered to be such an important band? Wank.
Close to a 4. Could see myself listening to this in the car.
It’s okay - nothing more. Me against the world is the high point and it itself isn’t particularly high.
Decent bass but ended up fucking me off
First thing from them I haven't minded.
Couple of absolute bangers and rest is very decent.
Amused me for about 3 minutes then fucked me off.
Did not like this.
Hated it
Really liked this one
Thought this was superb, particularly the first half. 3 songs added to my playlist.
A bad bad album, with the worst song ever released. Frankie Teardrop can fuck off.
Didn’t mind the guitar. Singing and songs were shite.
Superb album.
This is a high 3 album - liked the singing, the pace and the fact it has some good tunes. Although I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it.
Enjoyable but nothing would drag me back.
Blew my mind that Songs of Love is the Father Ted theme tune. The rest of this is good, and Something for the Weekend is a great opener. Could have been a 4 but for a slightly weak back end.
Better than I remembered but I couldn’t play it in the house.
Slept on it, extremely talented man but fuck me this is boring. Also, the groans and grunts as he plays are off putting and distracting.
It’s an excellent album - strong throughout and then Someone Like You drops at the end. Miserable song but her voice is immense.
Found this boring.
Rococo and We Used To Wait are the high points of a brilliant album. Definite vinyl purchase down the line.
Incredible album and really gnaws at you when you listen to it. Really unsettling.
Brilliant from start to finish.
I'm not a fan of the Who and particularly Townshend, but I can't deny the quality here.
Pretty standard jazz. Didn't annoy me.
Two good songs at the start with a load of shite afterwards.
‘Where the wild roses grow’ worth a star on its own. Remainder probably get another couple. A scraped 3.
Absolutely fabulous theme tune turning up here was a surprise 😂
Secretly worth a star, rest was worth a star.
Pretty bland
A couple of good songs but its all very one paced
Few very good songs and a fair bit of average.
I haven’t minded either of her albums 👍🏼
Actually didn’t mind some of the soul covers.
80’s shite - the singles are good though.
Possibly the best hip hop album we've had on this 1001 albums list so far.
I want to really like this. No Fun and I Wanna Be Your Dog are both very good but the rest is forgettable at best. 2.5 star.
Solid rock album. Odd themes but doesn't get too dark.
The jazz elements of the album stopped me giving it a 4 star.
Took me back to Kellerman's ❤️
Decent without being amazing.
Possibly the best jazz we’ve had so far.
Brilliant, superb riffs throughout and never feels like too much.
There are two brilliant songs in here but the rest were just okay.
Forgettable.
Good guitars and drums but not keen on the singing.
I liked this a lot.
Wank
Some absolutely brilliant songs on here.
Great
Vile.
Very enjoyable.
Started well and then tailed off towards the end.
Boring
Interesting throughout and her voice is perfect.
'You oughta know' is the standout. Lots of other very decent songs, but some bad ones drops it out of 4 star country.
She has a nice voice but the lyrics are brutal. And it all sounds exactly the same.
Not great.
It all sounds the same. Very average.
Was okay
Annoyingly good. Close to a 4.
It's decent but very samey.
Quite enjoyable.
Not keen - one song fades in the next creating 40 minutes I just don’t care about.
It was okay. Very Dukes of Hazzard.
Really interesting and some brilliant songs.
3 star from me for Jazz means it was great!
If this had been shorter it could have been 4 or 5 stars.
Didn't get it at all.
Singles good, the rest is forgettable.
I actually enjoyed it and thought the use of the baseball commentary was very clever.
Seven seas of rhye is the only tune on this.
Absolutely shite.
Love and affection is brilliant. The rest was just okay.
Didn't understand a single word and still enjoyed it.
Brilliant throughout. What a voice.
Couple of great songs and the rest is okay.
Enjoyable.
A good laugh. Jailbreak as an opener had me bought in.
Started off promising, but eventually I couldn't wait for it to end.
A genuine rave classic.
Crazy Love is okay, the rest is absolute balls.
Wonderful.
Might have rated this higher had we not had another Dusty album recently.
What a fucking waste.
I have actually ended up going to 4 star simply because of how good Rock Bottom is. And the Ken Kaniff skit made me laugh.
A really nice album. Found it to be quite interesting. High 3 star.
A load of absolute bollocks. Gets an extra star for some decent guitar.
Turn and Why Does it always rain on me are both still great songs. The rest isn't close to as good as I remembered it. Generous 3 star.
Disappointing
Other than TVC15, this is very good.
Worth buying.
Brilliant
Annoyingly ok
Once I stopped taking it seriously I enjoyed it.
Best album from them imho.
It’s not bad.
Excellent, and unlike everyone else, I quite like the second half.
Great stuff 👍🏼 Really interesting.
Quite boring.
It’s a very good but not great album.
Close to 4 star for me.
Want to love it but it’s meh.
New York balls.
Massive shite
Second half was better, the version of Hey Joe was enjoyable. But overall is wasn't great.
I think this falls into the category of not my cup of tea, but to the right ears I could see this being well received.
This was okay. California Dreaming is a 1 star song and the rest didn't fuck me off.
Pretty boring.
This was decent.
Good old quickly.
Self indulgent shite. And I say that as a fan of JR.
Pretty meh.
Good fun. Tom sawyer and limelight are both tunes, close to a 4 star for me.
Best stones album imho. Stray cat blues the high point.
Beck never ceases to amaze me with the depth of his work.
Started off well but got old quickly.
So fucking boring.
Superb.
It’s okay, but I find their music to be too nice for my taste.
Where is my mind? is in my top 3 songs ever. Gigantic is great and rest is good.
For Springsteen this was decent.
Big mouth strikes again and there is a light that never goes out are both one star songs. The rest is worth a star.
Brilliant stuff.
On another day I may have given this a 3.
I actually enjoyed the misery that was this album.
Genuinely enjoyed it, Courtney’s voice is perfect for the songs (not saying she’s a brilliant singer but it works here) and it has consistently good tunes throughout. 4 star album for me.
Started really strong and then got a bit bored by the end.
Didn’t really like this at all.
Brilliant.
Solid album. Hope you’re feeling better, black magic woman, and oye como va, are all belters.
Sounds like the music in the little sections of Sesame Street where they’d try to teach you something. Not for me.
It’s brilliant but I think it’s a tad too long. Knock 10-15 minutes off this and I’d give it 5 stars.
Vile.
Actually started well but I really struggled with the last half hour.
This was better than I expected.
Intervention is the standout on this album, the rest of it kind of drags. 2.5 star rounded up.
Decent groove but I’m not keen on him or his voice.
She has a great voice and they’re nice songs. Could have given it 4 if it had been shorter.
Brilliant dance record 👍🏼
I want to like this.
It was just okay.
Yes, it’s 29 minutes of the same thing but there are a ton of tunes on here.
Good album and a brilliant cover of Heard it through the grapevine.
Not what I was expecting but I enjoyed it.
This is better than most of the shite jazz we’ve had to listen to.
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I love these guys.
Good album, with a genuinely brilliant song in ‘A Forest’. Memories of Oslo too.
Superb blues album.
Pena was the moment when I finally knocked this turkey on the head. Fucking hate the cover too. Load of shite.
Just a lovely album.
I really do enjoy this country music - piss funny.
Brilliant album. Lucky is probably amongst my favourite songs of the 90’s.
At least it was short. They get an extra star for that.
I dug soil. The rest was shite.
Not for me.
I’ve already forgotten it.
Thought this was brilliant - singles on here are great, nothing annoyed me and I absolutely loved the final track.
Didn’t sound British to me - really close to a 4 star.
Nothing special - I enjoyed it but it’s a low 4 star album.
Torn on this one. Listened to it twice, has some high points but a lot of lows. High 2 is my conclusion.
One of the best rap albums ever.
I don’t like Paul Weller but this is a good album.
Too short.
This is totally forgettable.
Would buy this.
She’s some girl 😎
Some high points, some filler. Gets a full star extra for the bass outro on Barbarism Begins At Home.
Too folksy for my taste and I find Regine’s vocal to be super annoying.
Started okay but dragged by half way through.
Better than the Stephen Stills effort but only just.
Enjoyed this more that I thought I would.
Never listener to any AIC before, but thought this was great.
Although 'Around the World' is a one star song on its own, this is only a good record. It could have done with being 10 or 15 minutes shorter and is just too 'house' for my tastes to be given a 4 or 5.
Absolutely brilliant. Will buy it.
Henry Rolling FTW 😎 I liked it a lot.
Really disappointing. Shite in all honesty.
Superb. Grace Slick's vocal on Somebody to Love and White Rabbit are amongst my favourites by a female artist.
Good and boring.
Very close to giving it a one star. Shite.
Great album, and 9 Milli is an absolutely brilliant tune.
It's okay, but very samey and way too long. If this had been 40 minutes I might have enjoyed it.
Wasn't what I was expecting based on the band's name. But I quite enjoyed it.
Such an easy listen. Would consider buying this on vinyl.
This is bland and boring.
Not for me.
I didn't mind it. Glad it was short though.
Listened twice and thought it was bang average.
Psycho Killer is a 1 star song, rest is decent.
Very enjoyable.
Didn’t like it at all.
Pretty standard blues album - nothing memorable about this. When Craig McLachlan does your song better you know it’s average.
Interesting but wouldn’t listen again.
Underwhelming covers album.
A good fun album. Close to a 4.
It’s very decent. I can never work out whether I love or hate Nico’s voice.
Boner killer.
I still love the album but for every single banger (and there is a lot of them) there is a song I’m not fond of.
Really enjoyable. Close to a 4.
Several times I think I might really get into it then it loses me.
Background music only for me. Not sure when I'd ever want to listen to this.
Hate him but this is good.
In the right mood I love Elliott Smith. Today was such a day. Pity he did himself in because he was a brilliant artist. (Although I can understand that for others this will be total shit).
Weaker than Surfer and Doolittle so can't give it a 5 star, but it's still pretty great 👍🏻
Nice but not my thing.
Clear 5 star. Not saying it's the best album ever but it's the most I've enjoyed and album since we started 1001 albums. Brilliant.
This is brilliant - 37 minute album packed with quality.
Enjoyed this. Close to a 4. Hanging Around is the best song on the album.
I don't get on with Shoegaze but this was OK.
Great album. Not the highest pace ever but really enjoyed it.
Didn't mind it - wouldn't listen again. 2.5 stars.
Couple of great tracks elevating a lot of 60's psychedelic shite.
It has its moments.
Interesting. Might go back for a second listen.
Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
Saw the band name and thought, 'great, I like one of their songs.' Alas, it was not on this album. Pretty shit.
Couple of moments but generally shit. And I fucking hate Beetlebum. Shame as I really like blur.
Bottom 5 album this. Pointless drivel.
I don't get Bruce Springsteen but this is a very good album.
Really decent this - not sure I'd listen again but she's clearly very talented.
Couple of good songs and a ton of filler.
I liked it 👍🏻 might be getting an extra star here because it was a shite Monday morning and it cheered me up.
Thought it had potential but dragged a bit.
Brilliant. Simple Man one of the best songs I've heard in a while.
Great album.
A generous 3
Like a ton of stuff from this era - when they nailed it, they produced some of the best stuff ever. But there's so much guff in this.
Just not my thing. Vocals murder this.
Great album.
Wasn't bad.
Pleasant enough.
Enjoyable enough. Just what I needed was the high point. A solid 3.
Just a big load of nothing.
Enjoyable.
Just a brilliant listen.
A generous 3. Very samey imho.
A high 2 - was the perfect music for a miserable day at work.
A bit harder than I expected. Enjoyable.
Actually enjoyed the first half more which seemed like typical country music. If it had all been like that it would have been a 3.
Hated it
Just ok
Fuck jazz
5 brilliant songs on this and a load of other very good ones.
Great album. Love Debbie Harry 😎
Expected to hate it, but I was wrong.
Hard listen at times
Nothing in this for me.
50 minutes that felt like 7 hours and 15 days.
Excellent. Probably my favourite by the Beatles.
One of the 3 best things made by Wu Tang or a solo member imho. Love it. criminology and verbal intercourse are absolutely brilliant.
Really enjoyable. Had me from the opening track.
Bird shit.
First half was great, second half was just okay. High 3 star.
Didn't expect to enjoy this as much based on the book. Some very nice songs here.
Quite boring
Nice enough album.
Decent but never got the big deal
Thought it was absolutely brilliant.
Too 1980’s hip hop for my tastes and some laughable lyrics.
Disappointing. 1 star for Everybody Knows, the rest gets a star. First album from Leonard that I haven’t loved.
Good but not great.
Decent listen but all blended together.
Gave it a second listen and enjoyed it more but still no more than a high 2 star.
A very high 3 - Grey/Afro knocks it down from a 4.
Been a while since I listened to it. Lots of brilliant songs and a bit of filler. High 4 is probably fair.
Really good
If it wasn’t for the importance of the message, this wouldn’t be considered a classic.
A really good album.
Nice, also liked that it was short.
Great guitar and bass on this.
Not always keen on the lyrics but the beats are absolutely brilliant on this.
Honestly bored the balls clean off me
Great listen. Bought The Seed on single back in the day.
It's at the low end of ok.
Loved it - superb album which I will get on vinyl.
Expected to hate it and quite enjoyed it. Decent.
Fuckin jazz.
Almost perfect.
I enjoyed this - interesting album and shame it didn’t get more love when it was released.
Excellent stuff.
Thought this was absolutely excellent
Pleasant enough
Hated the first song, but after that it got really good.
Still think this stands up.
Pleasant enough but wouldn’t listen again.
First album to beat me. Got through them all until now.
Very decent.
Surprisingly I loved this.
Upbeat and a decent listen.
It was okay
Again, a decent listen. Quite enjoyed it.
Interesting and overall enjoyed it.
Maybe you had to be there - this did little for me.
Absolutely brilliant album.
Decent for a change but would never go back to it.
Started off thinking I wouldn’t like it but really grew on me. 20 Dollar and Paper Planes are great tunes.
Was okay, knew some of this from ads.
Not bad
Shite
Who bought this shit?
First side a 5, second side a 3. Averages out to a 4!
A decent half hour - stupid as fuck but a lot of fun.
A really good album.
Didn’t expect much but this is brilliant - wit, humour and Dre’s production. Heat is an absolute banger.
She can sing but it’s not for me
Enjoyable.
Ice Cube is good but I don’t like the beats on this.
Not for me
Was okay - I quite liked the vibe of this. Nearly a 4.
I enjoyed this - probably more than it deserved.
Nice voice but not for me.
Brilliant stuff
Close to a 1 star
Actually quite good.
balls
Not for me.
Pretty boring imho.
By far his best album.
Found this to be a drag.
Just okay
I liked this a lot.
In my top 5 of hate.
Enjoyed this without loving it. Close to 4 stars.
Constant odd audio coming in and out. Maybe they thought it was cutting edge at the time? Shit though.
Thought this was pretty shit and I don’t usually mind a bit of Roxy Music.
Just bland as fuck
Very good.
I quite like this.
Was okay. Inoffensive. Slightly boring.
It's not bad, just okay - a bit one paced.
Actually wasn't mad keen on this. Extra star for being from Belfast.
I hate this fucking guy.
Enjoyable enough.
1 star for money, 1 star for the rest. Shite and I've never got them.
I had a constant craving for this to end.
Surprisingly very poor.
I want to love this but I just don’t. I never have. She has a great voice but it’s one paced and I don’t think the singles are that great.
Talented people producing dreary music.
Interesting - not sure I’d listen again.
The best G funk album ever made - perfect. Gz and Hustlas is in my top 5 favourite songs ever.
No wonder some many people got high in 60’s. Soul destroying.
Starts well enough. The gospel to finish was unnecessary.
Liked this well enough. Basically the commitments soundtrack.
It’s better than I expected. Some of the singles are excellent.
Was okay - nothing special.
Whilst I like it, it's a very short album and can't be rated higher than a 3 👍🏼
Listened to it twice. It's good. A generous 4.
Okay - a tad boring.
Enjoyed it more than I expected. Easy enough listen.
Didn’t like it at all
A nostalgic 3 👍🏼 it’s okay this.
Tails off toward the end but the singles are all high quality. Generous 4.
Bland shit.
Bored the balls off me.
Brilliant stuff - surprised how much I enjoyed the arrangements here.
Surprisingly brilliant. Looked like the sort of thing I’d hate but genuinely loved it.
Catchy and more enjoyable than I was expecting.
Disappointing
I hate myself for enjoying this.
It was okay but I’m not sure what it was supposed to be.
Bjork 😩 and then they added the annoying bastard in the background.
Questionable concept but the guitar and arrangements on this are wonderful.
It's a decent listen this.
Middle of the road. Nice enough but also totally forgettable.
Not for me
Followed 2 shit albums, was uplifting and more than a feeling is a good tune. Generous 3.
Hated this. Bottom 10 for me.
I love her voice but her best album was yet to come.
Two one star songs and the rest is just average.
I enjoyed this but it's half brilliant and half really average filler. Welcome to the pleasure dome is excellent although too long to put on a playlist.
Only listened to this album for the first time in the last couple of years. It's a brilliant brilliant record. Something Changed is the best track on this.
Always wondered whether I like the idea of Bob Marley more than Bob Marley's music. This album suggests it's the former. It's okay but I wouldn't come back to it.
Wouldn't be out of place in Summerisle.
Such a fun album.
I think they're geniuses but this totally misses the mark for me.
The best 'new to me' hiphop album we've had on this list. Blown away by it.
I don't get it at all. Never have.
I really didn't enjoy this at all.
How the fuck is this in this book?
A generous 3. Very generous. Intro to Shining Star is great.
Boring as fuck.
Some good stuff on here but the stevie wonder tribute just totally took me out of it.
I honestly hated this.
A generous 3 star review. Remember thinking at the time they were quite clever writers but this has aged badly.
Humdrum
The xx did a couple of decent tunes back at the start but they leave me largely cold.
Very decent albeit without any songs that you’d add to your playlist.
Easy listening bollocks.
This is good - probably just a 4 star for me. But I’m deducting a star because he essentially set Branson on the road to being a billionaire.
I hate this style of American country music. Dogshit.
Overly long and so loses a star. But I do enjoy his guitar playing.
Nothing here excites me at all.
Strangely this was just what I needed on the bus on a dark Tuesday morning.
Surprised with how much I enjoyed this. Going to give it a generous 4 because I really enjoyed the last track, particularly the crowds silly excitement when he used the voice box.
Thought this was brilliant. Didn't fancy it when it came up but glad I listened.
Quite enjoyed this. Not the best they've done but still well worth a listen.
She can sing but too much politics on this for me.
Starts slowly and builds. I liked it.
Excellent
Ugly byrds.
Just don't get how this can be on this list. Only decent moment was the cover of the Cure and even it is shite.
A very pleasant listen.
The singles are good. Everything else is poor.
Solid throughout without ever being spectacular.
I want to like Nick Cave but his albums are just too slow for my tastes.
Kate Bush doing a Bert The Chimney Sweep. A load of absolute balls.
Best thing I've listened to today.
Occasionally I found myself enjoying this - but overall, it’s a fucking hard listen.
Just ok
Fine but not my cup of tea
Was decent - kids even enjoyed it.
Liked everything but Seagull which was a load of shite. Bad Company and Can’t Get Enough are both great songs.
Actually the most annoying album on here because EC has produced brilliant stuff over the years. This is total wank.
Really enjoyed this. Couple of songs added to the playlist.
A few decent guitar licks but this is shite.
Not very good.
A high 3 - if it had been shorter it would have been a 4 or a 5.
Brilliantly interesting and entertaining.
On reflection, this bored the fuck out of me. Best song is a cover. The black slows.
It's a really enjoyable album this. They got bigger, but this is their best album by a mile.
I really hated this.
Didn't get into this at all.
I liked Lost in Music. Rest was not for me.
Was better than I remembered and expected. Fucking hate the singles though.
It was annoyingly catchy.
Came into this with zero positivity and ended up enjoying it a lot.
Is it porn music? Is it a moody 80’s thriller soundtrack. Fuck knows.
Weird as fuck.
I enjoyed this.
Better was to come from M.I.A.
Boring.
Some things on here sound quite nice but it's just not got me. A generous 2 because it at least has a groove.
Grievous on the ears.
I honestly don't know whether I loved this or hated it.
I honestly hated this. Maybe it was groundbreaking at the time. Only positive was it was only 38 minutes long.
A nostalgic 3 but this has aged badly.
'njoyable.
You'd need drugs to bother with this shit.
Not bad - given Miles Kane is a part of this I expected to hate it.
I liked this a lot. Never heard of them before but massive velvet underground vibes which is always a good thing.
Close to a 4. Added a couple of these to my playlist.
Better than the other one we had to listen to. But still shite.
Goes on a bit - would give this is a 4 star if they had cut it to 35/40 minutes.
Nothing offensive but just not for me.
Just way too preachy.
Inoffensive.
Close to a 4.
This is a great listen 👍🏼
Brutal. Don’t like the singles on here and the rest is garbage.
Surprisingly enjoyable. Thought this would be scooby snacks and filler but it’s really quite good.
There are a couple that haven’t aged well, but I still find myself enjoying them. The rest of this album is incredible.
Enjoyable but not brilliant.
Great from start to finish.
One paced and generally average.
All a bit samey but what’s here is decent.
I just don’t get this at all.
I didn’t like this.
I quite enjoy this despite there being no brilliant tunes. But it’s too long and so gets a high 2. If they’d knock 25 minutes off this it would be better for it.
Very decent album - a 3 generally but Connection and Waking Up are both brilliant songs.
Quality album
Very pleasant
Some good music here with a lot of bad singing. Love the nirvana unplugged versions so they get a generous extra star.
Some nice stuff on here but overall found it to be one paced and that pace isn’t for me.
Heavy going
Didn’t fancy it this when it came up but it’s brilliant.
Just utterly pointless. If this guy wasn’t in Steely Dan no one would care about this.
Shit box
Singles are brilliant - I’m being generous.
Paint by numbers punk music but I quite enjoyed it.
Close to a 5 - so close, for once I could have taken an extra few songs.
I really didn’t get this at all. Close to giving it 1 star.
Not bad but nothing that grabbed me either.
Just okay imho with two good songs.
Actually didn’t mind this. Mental story about the background and the killing of his mum.
Really good, had never even heard of this album before and really preferred it to his later work.
Very good. (⭐person)
Dreaded it when it came up but actually enjoyed it.
I love her voice, enjoyed the album, but would probably never listen again.
Enjoyed this
Enjoyed this
Brilliant - particularly love Summertime (and Eminem’s use of the song in Rock Bottom).
A couple of decent songs but overall a load of bollocks.
I liked this a lot
Not for me
This was better than I expected. Couple of great songs on here and a lot of guitar playing that I liked.
A generous 3. Higher Ground is a great song but the rest is largely forgettable.
Thought this was absolutely excellent
I liked this - very decent.
It’s a very generous 3
Started okay but got old fast
Nice enough but I expected more
Woke up in a bad mood today so this could be harsh but I genuinely think I hate this.
Really enjoyed this.
There are some bangers on here and there are some average songs. Not as good as master of puppets which is basically perfect.
Good beats and samples used are great - lyrics are very of their time.
I didn’t like this at all.
I almost threw my phone in disgust. Sickly 80’s shite.
Holiday in Cambodia is an all time favourite. Remainder is offensive but I like it.
Quite interesting but not sure when I’d ever listen to this.
Didn’t excite me
Genuinely think this is a load of shite.
This is an absolutely brilliant record.
Good fun. Would have loved to have understood the lyrics.
I like it but I don’t love it. Think Ironman and Cuban Linx are both better.
Enjoyed this more than I expected
Solid all the way through and the first side is a banger.
It’s okay but nothing that gets me excited.
I was a little disappointed if I’m honest. Didn’t like much of Ozzy’s vocal and I detest the song Changes.
Some great stuff on here and some absolutely terrible stuff.
Brilliant throughout
I don’t think I’d ever listen again but I thought it was really good. Close to a 4.
Terrible.
Fine in the background when I was working but wouldn’t listen again.
Saw shoegaze written on wiki and feared the worst. It was brilliant, close to a 5.
I enjoyed this more than I remembered.
Not for me
Utter shite. Actually got on my tits.
Just don’t get it
All over the place.
Turned it off. Haven’t done that often.
Was okay.
It’s okay but very short.
Very good
A mix of good, great and terrible.
Such a bunch of dreary shit.
Not for me. An extra star because I recently went to L’Olympia.
Bored
Really enjoyed this
One of the best.
I loved this at the time but it feels too long now. Honestly could do without 15-20 minutes of this. The singles however are epic. BSS, Lucky Man and The Drugs Don’t Work are still songs I listen to regularly. This elevates it from a 3 to 4.
This was actually very decent. Can see me sticking it on as background music.
Nice voice but one paced.
I enjoyed it but not as much as I expected I would.
Wouldn’t listen again but didn’t mind it either.
Genuinely hated it
Blues 101 really.
In my top 10 most hated albums on this list I think.
Genuinely loved this
Don’t get it - feels like there’s no choruses.
Not great
At least it was short. A big thanks to Syd for that.
Wouldn’t listen again but was decent.
It’s just okay imho. A shaky 3.
This is absolutely brilliant. So close to a 5.
I actually liked this, which I wasn’t expecting. Among the best 60’s psychedelica I’ve heard.
These lads were shit.
Reasonable background noise whilst I was working. Interesting.
Some good stuff on here but not enough of it imho.
It’s exactly what I expected it to be.
Up there with the very very worst we’ve had.
Absolute drivel
Decent with a good song.
Enjoyable
Absolutely brilliant
Very samey and didn’t think that was a good thing.
Would listen to this again.
I have never got MBV or why they are so popular. I assume shoegaze just isn’t for me.
A very decent album until the last song. Without that shit song and stupid gap of 15 minutes to further noise it would have been a 4.
Thought this was a great listen.
Interesting enough album. High 2
Really didn’t rate this at all.
Too many brilliant songs not to give it a 5.
Great songs and other terrible ones.
I’ve forgotten it already
Good but you can’t give a covers album higher than 3 imho.
An entire album that grated on me. Shit. Damn. Motherfucker.
A good album. Some great songs on here.
There’s a bit of wit in this. Generous 3.
Bores me even though she has a great voice.
Great album. Only misstep is Born to be Wild - it was the only time I didn’t enjoy the lead singers voice.
You can’t not give this a 4 - but some of the songs are poor when Jimi is singing but get good when he’s properly playing.
Never heard of Skepta but this is something I’d buy.
Started badly but ended well. Dead Bodies is a great tune.
It was okay - not as bad as I expected.
Jazz is just absolute wank.
Not good.
One song popped up here. It was enough to know it was shite.
Coming to America vibes. I enjoyed it.
Not for me.
Nice voice but way too long. Never listening to this for half a work day.
There are moments when I think I like it but they always go away.
It’s an enjoyable album.
Shite.
A nice surprise. Saw this on the list and honestly thought I would hate it.
Nothing offensive but I just don’t get why it’s so popular.
I genuinely loved this.
Absolute wank.
I didn’t like this one bit.
For jazz this isn’t bad - they actually sound like they’re playing the same song which is worth an extra star.
Pity that the two albums was all we got from them. Great band and I love how dark this is.
Brilliant album.
Never heard of this before but knew Damon’s voice straight away. Very enjoyable.
Just not my genre.
Not bad
I don’t know why, but I really enjoyed this.
Better than I was expecting. Close to a 4 except I’m not sure I’d ever put it on again.
During the first song I thought I’d hate to this but it grew on me and eventually I quite liked it.
It’s a decent enough listen. Low 3.
Such a fucking boring album.
Nothing I have heard from Sonic Youth during this entire 1001 albums has moved me from the position that they are shit.
I’ve always wanted to like this but it’s one great song surrounded by stuff I don’t like.
Never heard of them before, misread the name of the band and thought it was the Bee Gees. Still, this was amazing. Would buy it.
I like PJ, but I’m not sure about this one. Bit too much going on for lots of it.
Just ok
Bored the tits off me
This is the best jazz record we’ve had on here. Not my genre but I could happily listen to this.
Best album we’ve have from EC.
I totally hated this
Good but way too long.
Absolute balls
Has its moments
Absolutely brilliant
Every once in a while you get a gem that you’d never have heard of if it weren’t for this book.
It’s got some lovely vocal but I could listen to it more than once.
It’s good enough but I don’t really get the hype with Neil Young.
Hate American pie and the title track, but the rest of it is okay.
Think it’s quite one paced and don’t remember a single chorus.
Quite a nice album
This keeps happening. I want to love this but I just don’t. It’s maybe a perfect example of you needed to be there at the time.
It has some good points
They have a smashing greatest hits.
This is a decent album but I’ve never fully understood why LZ are so revered. Other than Babe I’m Gonna Leave You I don’t think there’s any big songs.
I didn’t think I would like this Bjork album. And I don’t. Some decent moments but it’s far too long.
I’m coming from a place where sitar music can only ever be given a max 3 marks. I enjoyed light my fire and jumping jack flash and I’m feeling reasonably generous, so a 3 it is.
Really enjoyed it but a tad long in the end which knocks it down from a 4 star.
This honestly bored the balls off me.
Didn’t expect to like this but it was actually a very decent listen.
Very decent album
Molly’s Chambers is a great tune. Rest is just okay.
2 stars really but giving it an extra star due to the Simpsons episode where this gets played at church.
Decent enough background music although I’m not a massive fan of Weller.
I enjoyed every song on this. Absolutely wonderful.
Short and sweet. A generous 4.
Boring wannabe Beatles without the talent.
Nice enough but just not my genre.
This rolled by - a really good record.
I’d honestly never heard of X, but I really really enjoyed this.
It’s okay - not my cup of tea but it wasn’t bad to listen to.
Very generous 2. Just don’t get why people rate these guys so highly.
Heard it through the grapevine is a really decent cover but the rest of this is very shit. Generous 2.
Nice in parts but nothing ever massively interests me.
I genuinely hated this.
Didn’t mind this. Generous 3.
Bjork makes me hate music. So fucking shit.
Really enjoyable.
Nice enough but totally forgettable.
Why people who can play instruments choose to play them like this will always baffle me.
It’s okay. Generous 3.
Music by a non-musician.
Just okay
Pleasant enough.
Is Tim Wheeler a good singer? Not really. Is he a brilliant guitar player? Not especially. But I love this album. It’s a fucking 90’s classic, riddled with great tunes and it was done by lads from just up the road. What’s not to like?
Superb voice.
She has a nice voice but I really didn’t like this.
Great album, probably aged a bit now but nostalgia brings me to a 5.
Really good.
Shit Day
Daddies not Heinz.
Enjoyable while I worked - for once it was a little too short.
Really not bad.
Just the most boring forgettable album I’ve heard in a long time.
Way better than I expected
Nothing special but I did like Go Back Home a lot.
I know that a ton of these songs are amongst their most popular, and whilst I appreciate their talent, they’re not songs I’m keen on.
This was way better than I expected.
I liked this - last live song and Julian’s chat wasn’t great.
Was a 4 star album until 3/4 of the way through. In the end it dragged a little and I was hoping for the end.
It’s not good, but it’s not the worst thing I’ve heard either
Absolute garbage.
I quite enjoyed this but without the big singles it never is anything other than decent.
