Iconic indie rock! A unique take on punk/new wave, mixing up 60’s West coast surf rock with NY garage and art rock of the late 70’s, and then having a party doing it. No other band sounds like B-52s. Not back then, not today some 40 years later.
A peak point in the Cure album discography. It might not feature the very best the Cure songs, although it has one or two classics on it, but this album is however not about individual songs. It is more a flow of music from the opening track till the last tone of the last track, hence complete without any unnecessary fillers. True perfection.
Oh no.. how did this ever come about
So vibrant, and beatiful balance between electronica elements and the classic guitar, bass, drums drive
Geeks playing rock n roll… in a refreshing way. Sound is like college rock melets Velvet Underground
Groovy stuff from start to finish… and a lot of strings
Essential 80s - but not really standing the test of time
Maybe not amongst the best Elton John albums…but still a collection of solid pop songs here, performed by brilliant talenter musicians
Blues and guitars, and more guitars… great musicians, but a bit boring after a while
A laid back and moody indie rock sound. The tracks are instrumental soundscapes rather than songs… gets boring after a while
This is it! Update of the 60’s/70’s Bossa Nova, beautifully integrating elements of ambient electrinica, acid jazz and trip-hop. Very smooth and well produced. Music perfect for cocktails in a late night lounge bar, and just as well for an espresso on a Sunday morning on a sunny balcony or in a street café… Music to Dream to

Nice laid back sound and great musicianship. And of course Mark Knopfflers guitar taking it to a different level
Symphonic rock.. Not my kind of thing. There are moments of beauty but mostly I find it too arranged and calculated, and weird.
Yeah, great no nonsense indie rock for partying, yet with interesting lyrics. Like it!
Catchy songs and solid production as always with ABBA, only I never got on that train… was on another platform going in a different direction I suppose. In other words, not really my thing.
The transition from soul to funk. A bit outdated, but groovy
Coldplay at their peak. Tight composition, and powerful lyrics
Iconic indie rock! A unique take on punk/new wave, mixing up 60’s West coast surf rock with NY garage and art rock of the late 70’s, and then having a party doing it. No other band sounds like B-52s. Not back then, not today some 40 years later.
The essense of heavy metal. Amongst the albums defining the whole genre
Beatiful, and singer/song in an 80’s way
A monster of an album. Iconic psychedelic rock
Superb. The most beatiful electronica soundscapes put together as a classic symphony, with its different themes being repeated in variations and mixed up maintaing an exciting atmosphere throughout the whole album
Maybe the best one by the Beatles. A collection of solid and tight rock songs here. Before they included more experimental elements.
Still beautiful and powerful singing, but also a lot of anonymous fillers
Wouw.. is it a joke..?!
Melodic punk. Great album
This is fantastic, in the weird way only Talking Heads can do it
Top album from the sixties, superb vocal harmonies and jangling guitars
Ahhh.. better when it is soul
Quality music, but trapped in time
Oh no.. how did this ever come about
Ahh.. wonder what the big clock is about..hmm
Epic 90’s indie. Although a bit dated, there are no weak songs here.. Wonderwall has kept its magic, but in retrospective songs like the title track, and Champagne Super perhaps even better
One of the Best by the Charlatans. One of the Best from the UK indie dance rock era in the 90’s.
Not up there with the first 3 albums, but still refreshing and powerful
A true classic.. top band behind our man Van, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere. And then there is Van at his best delivering his songs with true passion
Dream soundscapes and Elisabeth Frazer adding vocals of incredible beauty. It’s all about atmosphere here, and gets slightly boring if the ears are set for rythmic 3 min songs with lyrics telling a story, but as a back drop for a meditative moment it works. And the best from Cocteau Twins
Smooth and soft..and that is maybe the problem here. I sm lacking a certain enge or nerve. So not for me thanks
Mainstream 80’s pop. Ok for parties back then. Boring in retrospect
Fantastic!
Ohh yeah! Part of the soundtrack for the 90’s indie/techno rave parties Nice flash back!
A classic. No nonsense heavy rock, with a lot of groovy blues elements refining it. And then Ian Gillans super vocal work on top of things wouuww!
Revisiting 70’s motown. I find it boring
The best from Björk! Continuing the indie sound of Sugarcubes, with fine Dance/Electronica elements
Solid 70’s blues feel, but also weird lyrics, that do not do it for me. Gets boring
Typical easy listening bossa nova vocal jazz for the cocktail lounge. Cozy and warm, but also boring, without any edge
Weird to some extend, which makes me feel unpleasant… not for me
Ok laid back indie rock with some psychedelic elements. There is a nice vibe going here
No actual songs on it, only a variete of soundscapes. I do not get it. Would perhaps had worked well as a movie soundtrack, but then there is not a movie..
OK classic 70’s soul, but not exceptional
Fantastic! A favourite from the 70’es punk era
Another great one here! Fresh and serious lyrics guitar indie rock
Not their biggest hits here, but solid vocal harmonies and groovy rythm as always
Beautiful and exciting soundscapes. Works best where there is rythm underneath, so longer the movements in the compositions without it, makes it a bit boring here and there though
Funky new wave, and an agree David Byrne. And then it’s got Life during wartime on it. What’s not to like
Great musicianship as always with Bowie, but with a somewhat conventional direction here. Influenced by classic soul to some degree, and with famous hits like Fame and the title track. However, lacking a lot of the alternative experimental elements that make the greatest Bowie albums… great. So quite average in this respect.
Typical late 60’s psychedelica. Nice and groovy live performance, but also a bit on the average
Quite noisy. Early industrial.. my ears are bleeding after a while
Solid and honest straight forward garage/punk rock. Love it! RIP Chris Bailey
Iconic indie rock masterpiece from the Bunnymen. Nothing less.
Hmmm… never got into RHCP. Don’t know why. This is an ok album, although it does not really move me
Electronic indie rock/pop. Some ok dance tracks, but does not move me in general
Yeeahh! One of the best by the Jam, with the classic mod era song That’s entertainment as a high light
African choir. Beatiful harmonies, but boring
Shoegaze indierock classic back in the day. In retrospect it sounds dated and gets boring after a few songs
Laid back old school hip hop, That’s got interesting lyrics here and there, and it is funky too. Not too bad, and not like the aggresive direction a lot of the genre has taken today.
The iconic one, because of all the fantastic hits that are classics today It is a a landmark pop album alright, however moving slightly away from the older RnB and soul infused MJ albums, I personally like better. In retrospect it also comes out a bit overproduced (as many soft rock/ power pop/ RnB albums of the 80’s). So for me not the top MJ album as it is to many. Prefer the previous ones.
Love it! 60’s psychedelic rock. And with Neil Young
Mixing the weird and the noisy. Not me
The epic electronica album by New Order. Ends come together here
Wouw. First time listening to this, and really positive. Warm and cozy.. a nice extension of the 60’s be-bop jazz into the 70’s. References to both African music and funk here and there, just making it even more exciting.
No thanks… garage punk with a lot of energy, but then not really that special. Somehow repeating what was delivered with previous releases..
Legendary and one of the landmark albums to define the whole postpunk/ goth scene that followed
Beautiful. Powerful. Vibrant atmosphere all the way.
Rap… never my favourite, but then in this case, mixing it up with cool jazz and soul, making it groovy here and there
The titel song obviously a classic, and several other of the Eagles top songs are included here. However also a few fillers, that do not stand the test of time. So therefore not a 5 star album in my World, but close
Like the idea of the duo format, but then after a few songs the limitation of the same is showing. So Becoming a bit boring after a while
Beautiful atmosphere vibe all the way. And the singing… wouw.
Nice blend of electronica and shoegaze indie. Like it! A lot!
Country meets psychedelia.. Nice soft tunes with an edge here and there. Nice soundtrack for a quiet Sunday morning having a coffee at the down town Street café
Love this one. Finest blend of folk and pub rock
Low Key laid back indie. Ok, but not more than that
Hippies and psychedelia in a nice way. A classic, but also kind quite dated
Some stand out classics on it. But the album as a whole does not stand the test of time
Very hyped.. but rap and hip hop rarely speaks to me. This one is not an exception. Some groovy drum ‘n bass here and there, but that is it
Nice laid back groovy soul all the way, although a bit anonymous here and there
Smooth and laid back classic soul. The title track is a true masterpiece and genre defining, but also filler tracks with overproduced strings, not doing good for the overall impression
Neil Young & Crazy Horse at their best!
One of the AC/DC top albums. Rock n Roll and Rock on! Old love for this one
Weird indie rock. Great moments here and there but it does not really capture me over the whole album
Great album! (Silly title)
Some weird stuff here, in an ok exciting way.Elements of grunge, Radiohead and Velvet Underground
Not my thing. Solid recording, but the music style, hip hop, Soft RnB, does not catch me
A great one! No fooling around here. Just tight straight forward garage rock, with a freshing energy
Don’t like it sorry. This kind of aggressive hip hop, never my cup of tea
Revisiting traditional irish/Celtic folk, with a pink rock twist. And succeed with the project. Thumbs up
Johnny Winther refining and updating the Muddy Waters back catalogue to some extent. And it works!
Nice one by EC. Legendarisk actually..
The essense of James Brown is captured in this recording. Especially the Please Please Please medley is a tour de force of the power and energy of James Brown
This album shows both the strength and weakness of Nirvana. Weakness, not about their musicianship, but in general because they were obviously lacking strong original material for the whole gig, and therefore included several covers. Strength, because the covers they included actually is given their own edge, in becomes relevant. Their version of the man who sold the Earth is epic. Bonus as well is the joint forces with the Meat Puppets. Not a bad album
Fantastic how much energy and nerve The Stones manager to get out of a very laid back period, in the south of France, creating songs from spontaneous jam sessions. A masterpiece within the Rolling Stones catalogue, nothing less.
Melodic indie rock from the 80s. Quite alright!
Groovy organ here and there, but missing vocals. Norring somehow
Nicely crafted. Great musicianship and lyrics, but also a bit anonymous, without any stand out hit songs
No thanks. Old School salsa. Nothing wrong with that, but find the percussion element too dominant. Result is a lot of energy, but as well very stressed.
Love this one. Laid back melodic indie pop/rock. Vocals are great
So much said about this album already over the years. No need to repeat all that. Yes it is a masterpiece.
Yet another of those recordings made by skilled musicians, well crafted and produced, but so boring
Nice heavy rock/grunge, but loosing some of the magic over the years
Because of you. Great Tune. As for the rest, it is pretty average
No thanks. Not a fan of this kind of music really
A DJ set put down on an album. To me it is the kind of thing where you pick an individual tune out for dancing at a party, mixing it with other tunes. However listening to this as an album from start to finish does not work for me. In this connection I get stressed with all the sampling and scratching. Tedeous.
Interesting blend of country and 80’s indie rock. Some catchy tunes included
Iggy Pop in top form. The essense of garage rock. For sure. Only due to the poor recording I have always wondered why so many people are referring to this one as the best one by Iggy. Personally I hav always found it a bit disapointing compared to the first 2 Stooges albums. Anyhow classic tunes are on it that since then have never failed to get the crowd going crazy when played live
Nice. Mods revival Elvis Costello here
Compilation? Ok funky stuff, but very much the same song repeated many times. So not that excited after all
All tunes sounds more or less the same. Never found out why DF could become so big. Ok, when they invite special guest vocalists to join them, but on their own… overrated
Nothing exceptional, but ok solid indie/garage rock
A very powerful album. Not Strange that this one took Adele to international Fame. Strong lyrics on top of well crafted tunes, and the singing…. Wouw
Soft and warm easy listening. Pop with groovy jazz elements here and there. Kind of ok, but also a bit boring
Solid classic rock. One of the best from Aerosmith
Somehow dated, but also some groovy stuff here and there
Great nostalgia. Love this one!
Brilliant storytelling on top of solid indie rock
When Primal scream went electronic. Has great groovy elements, with some weird noisy soundscapes. Some work perfect, like Burning wheel, others become too weird to my taste though. But a solid album in general!
Early punk, funky lyrics, quite melodic, like it
An all time favourite. The Smiths at their peak
Tour de Force. Including soul elements to the original RnR nerve is a powerful addition, and then Elvis vocals here. Top!
One of the greatest new wave albums of the early 80’s due to strong production and Annie Lennox powerful voice. Pure nostalgia in a nice way
A milestone in soul music. Funky and powerful
Rough, in a cool way. Not the best one by the Cramps, but pretty good
Not really my taste. The title track is catchy though.
Raw, fresh, powerful. A real classic from the punk era
Quite alright, but without the magic of earlier albums
Fantastic. Qintesential fussion of jazz and funk. Groovy all the way
Not really a necessary listen before you die album
Pixies quite ok, but do not really need this one. Not bad, but not spectacular
Well.. outdated to some extent. Does not catch me
Fresh and rough Cut. Indie garage rock. Could do with more variation, it is like two-three songs repeated over and over
Retrospectively I do not find it that great after all, but remember when it came out. A real game changer, bridging heavy rock elements and indie rock, and that is not to forget about! Made its mark for sure
Goth meets glam rock. Too dark and bizarre for my taste
Fantastic! A favourite Dylan album. Great lyrics, great atmosphere
The sound of the 80’s. Great then, now outdated.
Never really understood the hype about the Manics, but this one, admitted, is quite good
Ok. Decent album, but grunge never moved me. Its getting a bit boring after some songs
Nice, but dated (is it allowed to say that about the fab four?)
More a curiousity item (with Janis) than a great album
Great album, not quite like the debut, but close
A true classic, and one of the defining albums of the mid/late 80’s sound and night club dance scene
Liked the early stuff from Elvis Costello. Still do :-)
Not the best solo album by Morrissey, but still a solid debut. With classic singles Suedehead and Everyday is like Sunday. On the latter the combination of the reverb effect on the guitar on and Moz’ voice is epic.
A super collection of songs here, summing up the energy and great i die sound of the early R.E.M. before going mainstream
Powerful raw energy, yet melodic and meaningful lyrics
U2 at their peak. Everything works here. A vibrant atmosphere, solid musicianship, strong lyrics, and on top excellent production and sound engineering. Brian Eno and Daniel Landis getting the best out of the band
Aggresive raw nerve. Here and there it works. Here and there it is just noisy. Too noisy imo.
Did not find it that special when it came out. But it has grown on me since. The weirdness I did not get initially I really like today. Not an easy listen here, but give it a chance!
Solid, no bullshit, rock n roll.
Great mix of ambient electronica, house, dub step, for your 90’s rave party. Would have liked more vocals though.
Beach boys getting more serious here as for the arrangement and lyrics are concerned. Love it. A true classic
Never a Big fan, but then again, this is ok groovy stuff.
Easy listening happy tunes. Makes you smile on a Sunday morning as soundtrack to a nice cup of coffee
Really?
Not interesting
Not keen on soundtracks in general. Too much unimportant fillers. However the actual songs here are great.
Nice music somehow, but does not really get to me
Overrated… never understood the hype about Red Hot Chili Peppers and this album. Decent rock, but not really more than that
Not a big fan of rap and newer hip hop. And this one doesn’t change my views..
Led Zep rocks on.. and here with folk/singer/song elements, demonstrating that they were much more than the average rock band.
Solid album, but not as groundbreaking as the previous DM albums. OK, Never let me down again is a massive hit off course, and great song.
Soft RnB…nice, but also a bit on the boring side in retrospective
The essense of Country Rock. Right here!
Love it… (well, love most of Madness albums actually). Fresh and lyrics with a twist
