Popular Reviews

Junkyard by The Birthday Party

This was interesting but pretty harsh and a little hard to listen to after a while.

Autobahn by Kraftwerk

Kind of mesmerizing but it felt more like background music.

Snivilisation by Orbital

This was pretty good actually. If some of the songs were shorter it would have been better though.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Aug 18 2022

The language and topics were too much, but if I could ignore that, I actually enjoyed the music.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Aug 19 2022

I knew the popular ones here and generally liked the album. By the end I was a little tired of it though.

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
Aug 22 2022

Fun songs, makes you want to dance even if you don't like to dance.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 23 2022

I own this one on vinyl. Many of the songs are played on the radio, so it's very familiar, but still excellent.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Aug 24 2022

This was pleasant enough but a little dreary.

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Aug 25 2022

Good reggae. Some serious topics that I've not heard or at least haven't registered to me in my previous limited exposure to reggae.

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Aug 26 2022

This was pretty good. It felt a little repetitive, but generally I liked it.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
Aug 29 2022

I hadn't heard of this band before. They sound similar to other early punk bands to me.

25 by Adele
Aug 30 2022

I've heard probably half of these songs. Not really my type of music, but Adele has a great voice and I mostly like the songs fine. I did find the general tone a little sad and depressing though.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Sep 01 2022

Wow, I am quite surprised I liked this one. It was not what I was expecting and I liked it. Good variety of genres. Only thing I'd say is it got a little long by the end.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Sep 02 2022

I generally like nine inch nails pretty well. This didn't catch me on a day when I was in the mood I guess, as I didn't enjoy it that much.

Not surprisingly liked this one. Enjoyed pretty much all the songs.

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Sep 08 2022

Marquee Moon by Television
Sep 26 2022

Never heard of this band but I was impressed. Not crazy about the singer. Reminded me of violent femmes but for some reason I didn't care for the voice here.

Oct 24 2025

This is better than the previous album which was also British pop. Still not very great, though I enjoyed a couple of the songs.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Oct 28 2025

This was decent enough but a little generic. I don't think it will be very memorable.

Oct 29 2025

This was decent for the genre which isn't my favorite. Had some variety and was mostly more mature lyrically than some others.

Oct 30 2025

Not surprisingly this was fun. I only knew one song but overall this one was upbeat and had good rhythm section work.

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Oct 31 2025

I've never listened to any of this except the few singles. It was pretty decent.

This was pretty good. I think I've listened to this band before, and while I enjoy them they don't really seem memorable to me.

Tommy by The Who
Nov 05 2025

I have listened to this probably more than any other album ever. Don't listen much anymore because of that and it's not my top Who album, but still 5 stars!

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre

This was pleasant and a little hypnotic.

American Idiot by Green Day
Nov 11 2025

I own this one though didn't get into it when it came out like I did their earlier work.

Tago Mago by Can
Nov 12 2025

Some of this was good some was weird. I think a single album worth would have been just right but this was a bit too long.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Nov 13 2025

I liked a few songs here. Overall it was just okay. I also think this is their second album on the list and I question why that is.

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Nov 14 2025

This might be my favorite PG album. I've seen complaints that it's all over the place but I like the variety.

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Nov 17 2025

While I didn't love this, at least it was different without being just obnoxious. It was somewhat poppy but also was quite different than just straight pop.

Stripped by Christina Aguilera
Nov 18 2025

Knew a couple of these songs. Good singer, not bad, a little king. Just not my favorite genre.

Connected by Stereo MC's
Nov 19 2025

I remember the title track. Didn't realize the singer was British but it's quite prominent. Anyway this was ok but I'm not sure it's essential.

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Nov 20 2025

This was not bad for the genre.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention
Nov 21 2025

That was something. About what I expected really. This leaned more toward the weird/ comedy side of Zappa I felt, rather than the musical side. Not really my preference.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Nov 24 2025

Duh. This is the first Zeppelin album I owned and I listened to side 1 a million times. Took me a while to realize side 2 was also great!

Nov 25 2025

I own a couple of Stooges albums but I'm not sure I ever listened to this debut.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Nov 27 2025

Definitely liked this better than their other album on the list.

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Nov 28 2025

Dec 09 2025

This is a good one. Recently started getting into Jack and his bands.

This had a few songs I liked. Never listened to it before but after reading up I might try their next album.

The Modern Dance by Pere Ubu
Dec 22 2025

I didn't like this one as well as the other on the list. This was a little out there.

Dec 25 2025

This was very nice and soothing. Good music and vocals, very smooth.

Dec 26 2025

I love the white album, as it was one of my first Beatles exposures. Love the variety, even of there are a few duds.

Dec 29 2025

This was okay not great. Then with the intro talking on every song got worse. I mean he’s pretty funny but on every song?

Dec 30 2025

I’ve listened a few times and while I like some of it well enough, I just don’t get the hype.

Jan 15 2026

As I figured, I enjoyed this. Need to listen to these albums again to better gauge which I like best.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jan 20 2026

This is one of their best ones.

Jan 22 2026

This was fine but I didn't like it as well as the other two pulp albums I've listened to. Has some good spots but also seemed like it was probably too long.

Black Metal by Venom
Jan 23 2026

I've never heard this band. Maybe I've seen the name. The themes were a bit dark for me, almost comically so, but I thought the music was pretty good.

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jan 27 2026

This was fine. Elvis is fine. I'm not sure why this one is also on the list when there are so many of his though.

This was better and noisier than i expected. Liked the overall sound but it kind of all sounded the same. Should have another listen.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Feb 16 2026

I think I would have liked this pretty well if not for the dated sound. I love 80s music but that and Cohen just don't mix. That and the background vocals just really brought it down for me.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Feb 17 2026

Spotify only had a few songs so I need to go listen to this elsewhere. Still rating for now since I've listened to Moby Grape before. Generally seems like they sound like a band of that time. They seem talented but their songs have never stuck out to me.

I've never really given Tori Amos a shot. Some of this was quite good. Overall was a bit uneven and too long though.

1977 by Ash
Feb 24 2026

I had never heard of this band. I felt like it sounded like mainstream rock from maybe a later time. I expected something more punk like given the time it was released. Lol the name of the album is 1977 but it came out in 96! Makes a lot more sense now. Anyway I enjoyed some songs. Wasn't bad but not that memorable either.

Feb 25 2026

This started off ok. First instrumental nice. Vocals started not bad. Then it got more and more of the type of r&b that I'm not a fan of.

Came out while in college and was the Metallica I really listened to.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Mar 03 2026

It's funny how this was controversial at the time, considering this seems like nothing compared to Bitches Brew! This is a nice transitional record on its own though.

Pyromania by Def Leppard
Mar 04 2026

An old favorite. I prefer this to Hysteria, which got extremely overplayed.

Apr 17 2026
