Sheet Music
10ccThe songs felt all over the place, couldn't get into it.
The songs felt all over the place, couldn't get into it.
A great listen, I also liked the Ska songs that were sprinkled throughout the album.
Super folky, thought he sounded like Woody Guthrie and then low and behold Guthrie makes an appearance on the album. Enjoyed the listen.
Not the genre that I usually go for, but I still enjoyed it.
The singer sounded a lot of Julian Casablancas and the music was moody all the way through.
Not my bread and butter, so it was a rough listen.
A good listen.
Not my cup of tea, but not so bad to listen to.
80s classic, some interesting stuff mixed in the middle of the album tho.
This was a fun western album that I really enjoyed listening to.
Black Sabbath on the softer side with a mix of their classic heavy riffs and rocking, enjoyed this one all the way through.
A classic
Interesting listen
The title is happy sad and it makes a lot of sense, some of the songs were pretty good, and then some were a little too long and slow. Overall, not too bad at times I felt like it could be a 4 but I've settled for a 3
I knew a lot of these songs and they're all pretty good, an easy listen.
My first time listening to Morrissey, and it was an interesting album that I thought had some good songs on it. There were a few where I also thought he's just saying things for a reaction but overall, not bad to listen to.
Was never a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, though I try to keep that to myself being that I'm from NJ, but the album had its classics that everyone knows and some other songs that were cool to hear for the first time as well.
A more obscure DB that I've ever encountered, but I was able to get through it. Not sure I would put this one on again though.
Not really my kinda music but didn't mind it so much.
I felt like this one was a cruel joke, I think it was a nearly 4hr album. After listening to the first 2 songs, I thought that surely it was almost over but that was just the tip of the iceberg. I did not listen to the whole album, so I feel bad giving it a 1 star, but that's what's happening.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time (FAOAT). It really encapsulates the west coast hippie movement sound IMO.
Good shtuff.
I was between a 4 and a 5 here, because I think the studio version of some of these songs sounds dull compared to when they are played live however, there is no live without the studio. Disraeli Gears is a classic for me and I gotta go 5 here.
I was a little surprised how much I enjoyed this album, it was a 3 that turned into a 4 for me.
Didn't dislike this, but at the same time nothing jumped out at me.
Not a huge fan of Billy Joel, but this album has a lot of good songs on it IMO.
Hmmm, interesting one. Between a 2 and a 3 but going to go with 2 because none of the songs really grabbed my attention.
Interesting listen, not too shabby.
I feel like this album is better than a lot of the 3s I've rated, but not as good as the 4s, I think that going forward I'll be more reluctant to just give a three out to an album that I didn't think was bad. 3 has reached a new standard.
Very punk, not as polished as their stuff after this though.
Not my cup of tea
This album made me realize how much I don't like hair bands, that being said it wasn't totally unbearable and I think that if I was into this kind of music then it wouldn't have been so bad.
Not my kinda music
Liked this one more than I thought I would.
Really enjoyed listening to this all the way through again.
Solid
Kinda glad this one was only 30 min. Something about it just didn't sit well with my ears.
I'm a huge fan of The Band and this one is a classic for me.
Felt like this one was between a 3 and a 4, but closer to 3 for me
Hmmmmm at first I thought this band sounded a little like Black Sabbath at but the more I listened the less true that became. A bit too out there for me I guess, but there were some parts of songs that I liked though they seemed to blend together at times.
I was in between a 2 and a 3 throughout the whole listen, I felt like some songs were 3s and others 2s. But because I had never heard of this band before and I was glad I listened to this one, I'll give it a 3.
Some very good and then very experimental songs on this album! I really enjoyed it from start to finish, besides the last 3 or so minutes of Liberation.
If this isn't the most Brit-Pop album I have ever listened to... At times they almost felt like a Beatles cover/parody band and then at other times they sounded like a the most British Pop group ever, I kind of enjoyed it though, kept me intrigued for the next song.
A very interesting, but cool listen for me
This album really caught me off guard. I had not heard of the Boo Radleys before and wasn't expecting much, but sure enough each song had me listening intently. Seems like they had a ton of influences since nearly every song was different than the next one. I'll definitely be giving this one another listen.
Probably my favorite CCR album.
I accidentally read reviews on this album before I listened to it, so my rating is a bit skewed, I think. I like the Beach Boys, and I liked the new versions of Heroes & Villains and Good Vibrations, but the stuff in between sounded like unfinished songs that were pieced together.
Some songs I liked, some songs I didn't, also some funny ones in there too.
This is the first time I listened to this album in its entirety and though I'm not a rap fan, I thought this album was very good.
Wanted to like this one more, but didn't!
The only other Wilco song I know is Jesus, Inc., which I like. This album was different than that song, but still enjoyable and something I'll give another listen to.
Some groovy songs in there, the first one being, perhaps, the grooviest.
A proper early 2000s Brit-Pop classic! Or maybe I should say, a classic Brit-Pop album... I can confidently say I don't remember a single song from the album, but a memory of how I felt when I listened to it. I never know if I like Brit-Pop or hate it, but I think the world is better for it being a thing.
For me, I think that was the longest 45 minutes I've ever lived. The scream to start the album was funny, there were some funny bits in the middle as well, and the last song was unique. I was surprised to find out this band put out 10 albums, this one kind of seemed like a couple of guys rented out a recording studio and riffed for a bit, then released it as an album. I'll give it a 2 because of how caught off guard I was when I started the album, and the guy started screaming in my ears for 30 seconds.
Wasn't expecting to find an album from the Pogues on this list, but I'm happy I did! I thoroughly enjoyed this album all the way through, even did a few hearty jigs along the way. The Dubliners collab, the Medley, and Fairytale of New York were my faves from this one.
didn't like this one as much as the other Beta Band album
hmmm, in between a 2 and 3 for me, but since there were some nice acoustic songs in there so I'll round up
The albums peaks with the first song, which makes the rest blend together for me.
Liked this one a lot.
Pretty good album, I liked her rock songs more than the other stuff she was playing though.
Love this one, a classic for me.
Thought this was a very good album with some interesting history to it as well.
I was between a 3 and a 4 here. I haven't listened to much Elvis Costello, but I found this album a fun one to listen to and enjoy.
This album had some really strong and classic songs on there that bring it up to a 4 for me.
I enjoyed this one, but no songs really popped out at me.
This one was out there! Reminded me of Pink Floyd's more experimental days in between the Syd Barret era and the Dark Side of the Moon album.
Not a bad song on here! Might be my favorite Neil Young album, maybe.
Iron Maiden has never been my thing, but I can appreciate what they were doing.
Acoustic Psychedelia! I'm giving this one a 3 because I am a big fan of Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd. My favorite song off of this album was and has been Octopus. I feel like he tried to achieve the similar results with the rest of the songs but wasn't able to find the magic and they ended up sounded jumbled up.
This one wasn't as good as I hoped it would be and a lot of the songs blended together.
A very chill album that was nice to listen to on a chill Friday.
I really enjoyed the first half of this album a lot but for whatever reason my interest waned in the second half, still solid though.
American Beauty has a lot of the Grateful Dead's radio hits on it, with Box of Rain being my favorite. That being said, I'm giving it a 4.
An all around goodie, Money For Nothing's opening riff still gets me, and I like the variety of styles that Mark Knopfler plays on the album.
Two stars for two good songs on one album. The rest of the album made me keep checking to see how much longer I had left to listen to.
I liked their hits, which I had already heard, but the rest of the album definitely blends together.
I kind of liked this one in the beginning, then the middle lost me, but the end of the album brought me back. I was surprised that I actually knew some of these songs, I think.
I enjoyed the first half of the album, but I felt like the second half got a bit more experimental and I was happy when I saw that the I'd reached the final song of the album.
I liked this album more than I thought I would. I knew "Drive" and "Pardon Me" before listening to this one and I don't really care for those songs, but it was the rest of the album that took me by surprise.
This is one of my favorite albums! I remember hearing "Hot 'Lanta" for the first time and I was immediately taken aback by the musicianship of the group. It's still one of my faves by them! After hearing the live versions of their music, their studio albums just don't do it for me, haha.
Idk what it is about XTC that this list loves so much, but I don't feel the same.
Pretty cool album, definitely worth the listen. A lot of the issues he raps about are still talked about today, though there are some that need updating and I'd be interested to say what he says about social media and phones! haha
I'm not a huge Elton John fan and I hadn't listened to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road before this, but that was a great listen! I enjoyed this one from start to finish and it was nice to hear some of his songs that aren't always on the radio.
Not great for me, but also not bad. I really want to like Morrissey, but I've only come across a handful of songs that I really like so far.
A lot of the songs followed the same formula, but I have to admit that I enjoyed listening to this one though I didn't think I would.
Not a fan
I don't like Cult of Personality, automatic 1 star deduction. Not terrible, but I didn't like it.
What a musical journey that was! Not for me, but at times I was dancing at my desk like I was at a club or something, which should be an automatic +1 stars.
Dare I give this one a 4? I shall. I feel like I heard so many 2000/2010s Indie riffs in this album from 1981. I'd never heard of this group before and yet I thought I had listened to half of their album before. I wonder if a lot of Indie Rock artists found inspo from this group because it sure sounded like it.
Great vocals and good 90s rock.
I was in between a 3 and a 4 for this one, but I have to go with 4 here. A lot of good stuff in here, nothing that blew me away, but certainly kept me interested throughout the album.
I've listened to this one so many times, so nothing new, but it felt commercial at times. I found myself liking the songs that aren't played on the radio more but still felt the whole album was very good.
Looks and sounds a bit like Oasis did
Not my vibe.
Pre-Classic Bee Gees, not too shabby. I hadn't heard any of these songs before and they sounded like a rough version of themselves before they became the refined hit makers. Still pretty good though.
I liked the album artwork, but not so much the music.
This sounded a lot like Bon Iver, I thought it might have been him at first. I would guess he had some influence from this group. Good album though, I'm in between a 3 and 4. I'll settle with high 3, but I think that could change to a 4 after a few listens.
This was an interesting album; it felt like a lot of these songs were some version of "Carnival Song." I think I've heard "Once I Was" before and I do like that song.
I liked most of this album... I had to break it up into sessions though and I think that the last session was the worst, so it ended on a bad note for me. Still, considering I enjoyed most of the album I'll stick with a low 4.
Went from rock to experimental in the blink of an eye. I liked No More Sorry, but not All I Need. Then right back to the regularly scheduled program of (garage?) rock songs.
Some good songs in there, not a bad listen.
I haven't listened to too much of the Flaming Lips besides their more well-known stuff. I would not have guessed that they were making albums in the mid-80s though. Solid album though I enjoyed it and he used "realize" in a couple of songs here and it sounds exactly like their song "Do You Realize" in the way he pronounces it, so I guess it's one of his fave words.
I liked some of the songs, but it's not my genre of choice.
I only knew Sunny Afternoon from this one, but pretty good stuff.
