Jimi Hendrix
5/5
Great album with great songs, including the "Little Wing" or "Spanish Castle Magic" hits and also some lesser known tracks as "You Got Me Floatin'" and "She's so fine". Actually, the whole album is perfect!
What I like a lot about it is that, although it sounds heavy and excessive, it's at the same time subtle. While I love first Blue Cheer and Cream (two bands sounding more or less similar to Jimi), they are more like caveman blues rock to my ears. Jimi on the other side had this magical touch, which enabled him to play like a beast but sounding gentle at the same time.

Slayer
5/5
The only thrash metal album (besides Metallica, Megadeth, and more song-oriented bands) that I come back to again and again. This is perfection, 30 minutes of relentless attack, up-tempo hardcore-infused thrash metal but with evil sound. Araya's vocals are perfect, even the falsetto screams, Dave Lombardo's pace is what pushes this combo to insane speed. And twin guitars shredding is just the definition of extreme metal.
For those in the reviews, I have a couple of comments for you:
- I've seen some reviews complaining about the lack of variation in the album. Ok, well, THAT'S THE KEY! If it lasts for just 30 minutes is for a reason! This is a trance-inducing album, not that much different from Repulsion's Horrified, King Crimson's Discipline, or Sleep's Jerusalem, each one in its own way. So please don't complain about something obvious.
- Lyrics are childish. Yes, they are! Who cares? It's just this dude screaming about scary stuff, and it fits the music. Also, are you that critic with other albums? I think most of them has stupid lyrics, to be honest.
- Is just about speed. Again, this is precisely what makes this album great. Don't complain about this, please. Is it like listening to Joy Division and saying is too dark, you get the point? Also, the only part of this album I don't like is the more downtempo breakdown parts. When I listen to Reign in Blood I only want Lombardo raising the bar of speed.
- In sum, this is perfection. Probably the best extreme metal album ever.

Linkin Park
1/5
I already noticed it was crap when I was 13 and this was released. Everybody that I knew that were more or less interested in music agreed that this was indeed an utter crap.
The fact that 25 years after it, some music lovers respect Linkin Park, they play in Festival, they get recommended in lists like this, etc. annoys me at so many levels. MTV crap for stupid fake rebels teenagers, not rock, not metal, not counterculture at all. Fuck off.

I have heard The Girl From Ipanema maybe dozens or hundreds of times, but I didn't know this was THE album where it was first featured. I liked it a lot. I'm already thinking of driving along the coast listening to this, and I can't wait to do it.

I didn't dislike it but wondered why it is here.
Megadeth
5/5
Probably, the album I've listened to the most times in my life. Best guitar work in metal, best drumming, best song writing (first four songs + tornado of souls are metal perfection). Even the (somehow weak) vocals fit like a glove.

Elis Regina
4/5
I'm not sure if this would fit the best 1001 albums, but for sure I enjoyed it. There's something haunting in the Brazilian music, at least for me. Rating 4 as I'm sure I'll come back to this when driving or relaxing at home.
Sufjan Stevens
3/5
Interesting, but too kitsch for me.
The Police
5/5
As good as the first one. Best drum sound ever.
Bill Callahan
3/5
Pretentious simple album. Didn't dislike it, but it was too monotonous.
The Crusaders
4/5
First song is an all-time classic and the album deserves 4 starts just because of it. The rest of the album is subpar soft jazz.
Rod Stewart
3/5
Alanis Morissette
3/5
Sound of my childhood. Some really good songs, but too long.
Violent Femmes
4/5
Super cool! Kind of punkish acoustic rock with great songs.
William Orbit
4/5
I liked it a lot! It sounds like the perfect soundtrack to listen to in the car while returning from a hardcore punk concert.
Hawkwind
4/5
I play this "game" by listening to these records only once before rating them. In 2024, it isn't easy to listen to a 90-minute album, so I probably missed all the details.
That said, I enjoyed a lot of moments of this album. I wanted to give it 5 stars. But my millennial attention span has its limitations, unfortunately. So I'll rate it with a 4 and setting a mental reminder for myself "listen to this in the car".
Guns N' Roses
5/5
Quintessential hard rock album. The good parts of the 80s hard rock (catchy songs, good mixture of metal and pop...) but with the punk/rock-n-roll vibe of AC/DC and the likes. Top-notch songwriting, killer raspy vocals, great guitar work... what else could we ask for?
If this is one of the most popular albums ever, it is for a reason!
Eagles
3/5
I guess this is a classic but for me is a bit dull. And yes, I'm biased by the Dude.
2/5
I assumed I was going to vote with this album with a 1 for all what it portrays. But truth be told, at least it sound powerful and has some infamous hits (Rolling, My way...)
The rest of it sucks, though, garbage for mallcore American kids with a f-word overdose. Also, it's super long, which makes it even more annoying.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
All time classic, although they are a bit boring for me.
The Cars
4/5
Fun record. Definitely will listen to it more.
Talking Heads
3/5
As usual, good but not great.
Eurythmics
3/5
It was pleasant to listen but nothing remarkable.
The Doors
4/5
Great as everything by The Doors, although the debut is way superior.
Adele
1/5
Utterly boring, I don't really mind if she can sing.
Supergrass
2/5
British easy-listening rock from the 90s. It is pleasant but not groundbreaking.
Stevie Wonder
2/5
Too weak, although with a couple of great songs.
Serge Gainsbourg
1/5
Why?
Linkin Park
Fuck off.
Cream
5/5
Solid, heavy, psychedelic. Best in class, close to perfection. Tales of Brave Ulysses is the ultimate epic song.
The White Stripes
3/5
Fun! I started hating this band because I was young and stupid but now I really like them as background music.
Beth Orton
2/5
Definitely not one of the top 1001 albums. But I'll play it in my car.
Public Enemy
3/5
I think you can not enjoy 100% a rap album unless you're a native speaker of the record's tongue. Because of this, I'm a bit afraid every time I get a rap one here. For example, I got one of Snoop Dogg and I couldn't enjoy it at all.
The only exception to this rule (up to this point) is NWA's Straight Outta Compton, which I really dig and play often.
When I saw Public Enemy (a band I hadn't heard before), I was hoping that this was another NWA, given the popularity of the band and the fact that they are seminal. And yes, I liked it, but not as much as NWA. Could I listen to this again? Yes, and I will. But I still felt it was not for me.
The Rolling Stones
3/5
I expected this to be a boring album with a great opener, but to be honest 3 or 4 songs caught my attention. Good one.
Nirvana
4/5
Superb, as everything by Nirvana. They are known as the last big rock band for a reason.
This acoustic album was a generation's cornerstone, probably the most influential MTV Unplugged album. My favorite moment is the David Bowie cover, which manages to move me. Amazing album.
The Pharcyde
1/5
Not interesting at all! The worst thing on this list is the number of rap bands from the US that have nothing to say outside of that culture.
Tina Turner
2/5
It has a bunch of pretty solid songs. It is a nice sounding, rocking, and funky album but not that interesting for me.
Stevie Wonder
2/5
Bob Marley & The Wailers
5/5
I like everything by Bob Marley. Every time I listen a full record is like a time vortex, where I don't know if I've been listening to it for 5 or 50 minutes. But I think that's part of the experience, so I'm rating this with 5 stars.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
There is a level of over-abuse of certain artists in this list. One of them is Neil Young (along with Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, David Bowie, etc.). That said, this particular record has been the most appealing of the ones I've listened to by Neil. I really liked the primitive sound of it, and there are amazing tunes like Cinnamon Girl. If I go back to a Neil Young album, it will be this one, for sure.
Common
3/5
One of my last reviews was a rant about the huge amount of American rap records in this list. This is another case. But on the other hand, I liked this one more than I thought. Good bases, a positive vibe (not an abuse of swearing words and cringe gangsta attitude), and clear singing for a non-native speaker. Not sure if I'll listen to it again, but who knows!
Elvis Presley
2/5
Enjoyable but bland.
David Bowie
5/5
5 stars for the sound alone, amazing!
Ella Fitzgerald
2/5
This is not an album but a box set. I listened to it from start to finish on a car trip from Motril to Madrid. It took most of the trip, and the feeling for me was that I was trapped in a vortex, listening to the same song, once and once again. The good part is that the song was cool and reminded me of the old movies that I saw in my childhood. The bad part is that this vortex took almost 3 and a half hours.
Neil Young
4/5
Never in my life did I pay attention to Neil Young, but this is drastically changing since I'm playing this 1001 game, as I get an album by him every other week.
Regarding this one, I liked it. I listened to it while driving on a certain day when I felt miserable. This album made me feel more miserable, which is probably the right expectation. Also, it had a really good blues. Recommended.
Metallica
2/5
No, thanks. These songs are better without the orchestra.
Amy Winehouse
4/5
Good album, although a bit weaker for my taste than her major success Back to Black.
Pulp
3/5
Liked it! Sound like a lot of current so called post-punk records but without being boring copycats.
Deep Purple
5/5
First of all, let's be honest: I've always preferred other heavy bands of the late '60s, such as Cream, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer, and the like. That said, this album is a beast. I've read other reviewers complaining about this being dad rock. That's for sure true, but what's the deal?? It's probably one of the heaviest and best dad rock albums ever.
Highway Star, Pictures of Home, Smoke on the Water, Lazy, and Space Truckin' are masterpieces. That's 5 out of 7, more than 70% of the album. 5 stars!
Joni Mitchell
3/5
Pleasant but forgettable.
Depeche Mode
5/5
It feels super good to listen to this album. I've personally never been a huge fan of the band, but, truth be told, this is a blast. Sounds 80-ish but, at the same time, modern. Not as boring as other "goth" bands, as they were way more interesting than that limited genre, but still sounding dark as f***!
Dr. John
3/5
This was cool to hear and mentally marked as "will play again". Spooky in its way and entertaining.
Stan Getz
5/5
I have heard The Girl From Ipanema maybe dozens or hundreds of times, but I didn't know this was THE album where it was first featured. I liked it a lot. I'm already thinking of driving along the coast listening to this, and I can't wait to do it.
Dusty Springfield
3/5
When I saw this cover, I was pretty sure that I was going to find this album boring. But to be honest, I didn't. Don't judge it by its cover and title; this is not bland Americana/Folk. This is instead a UK "soft" soul singer with a bunch of great songs, including the successful single Son of a Preacher Man. I'm glad I don't understand English lyrics if I'm not actively paying attention because I looked at a couple of them, and they seem a bit lame.
"You stopped and smiled at me
And asked if I'd care to dance
I fell into your open arms
And I didn't stand a chance"
Deep Purple
5/5
I always thought Machine Head was the best Deep Purple, but nowadays I prefer In Rock. It has fewer hits but, at the same time, feels more rageful and metallic, at least for me. Listen to those crazy screams of Bloodsucker or to the beginning of Speed King. So powerful!
Also, I've read reviewers complaining about this being over the top... saying that it's packaged by screams, guitar solos, drum solos, etc... are you amoebas or what? What are you looking for in music? Just people whispering? Don't you have some childhood anger and energy inside you? Music is meant to be cathartic, you guys! I can't imagine how boring it must be to listen just mellow stuff like Coldplay or Adele.
Carpenters
3/5
I hadn't listened to this band before, although I knew them by name, obviously. I started it assuming that I was starting a 38-minute period of my life of blandness and boredom, and that feeling was consolidated with the first songs. But, to be honest, I kind of liked it! The musicianship was good, as was the songwriting. My favorite track was "I'll Never Fall in Love Again". Will listen to it more.
Tears For Fears
1/5
I've always had negative prejudices towards this kind of 80s band. But in this list, I've listened to some albums that blew me away. So when I started this album, it was like, "Uhm... it's not that different to Violator, this will be great!". But no! This is utter crap, bland and extremely cheesy, lacking all the darkness that Depeche Mode could have. Also, the song writing is not good. If this was #1 in the billboards is for a reason: it sucks.
Astrud Gilberto
3/5
The Offspring
3/5
In spite of being one of the most successful melodic hardcore/punk albums, it still sounds fierce, which is more than can be said about all the bands that were influenced by it. Poppy, fast and enjoyable!
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
I've listened dozens of times to this album (as everyone else), and I still have the feeling when listening to it that I'm facing a perfect craft of entertainment. I was in the car listening to it and thinking about *what* makes it so obvious that you're listening to a masterpiece. It may be something like 40% good songs + 40% good engineering + 20% musicianship. More musicianship is good, but definitely not needed (look at all those Ramones, Pistols, etc that created historic albums).
TL;DR. Amazing sound and top-notch songs. All time farlopa-fueled masterpiece.
1/5
Boring country, although at least it sounds authentic. Definitely not one of the best 1001 albums ever.
Jamiroquai
2/5
I approached this expecting nothing, as usually happens when I find an album that was huge during my youth (let's talk prejudices, hehe). That said, at least I found a funky sounding, fun album to listen to. I don't think I'll listen to it again, as I'd rather go to the sources of black music, but I can understand why this was big. Recommended for 90s nostalgics and eurofans.
Björk
3/5
Fun noisy pop!
The Byrds
4/5
Typical 60 sounding record, but it's extremely good in this case! The first song is a killer one, with that fast tempo, the winds section, the psychedelic vibes, etc. Then the rest of the album is not that impressive, but for the moment and kind of sound (beatles-like) this is more original than the average. Good one!
Air
2/5
What was this? This could have been interesting when it was released, because of the film or whatever (even so I doubt it), but nowadays sounds like insipid, bland filling. Something that does not harm as background music, but adds no value to your life. It's somehow creepy and strange, which is OK, but dozens of acts create that environment better. Definitely not one of the best 1001 albums ever.
Isaac Hayes
1/5
Nothing special about this, not at least in 2024. Also, I didn't see the movie so I don't even consider this fun, as other reviewers pointed out.
Amy Winehouse
5/5
Love Amy, and this is her best. Poppy yet powerful soul with modern bases and an astonishing voice. Songs are great and part of my youth (although I didn't give a shit then). Amazing artist that always sets me a bit sad when thinking about her story and tragic ending.
Derek & The Dominos
2/5
On the one hand, good guitar playing. On the other, dull, boring, lazy and generic.
Janelle Monáe
4/5
This was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure of what to expect just by looking at the artist's name and album artwork. What I got was a bombastic, overthought (yet super enjoyable!) album that definitely needs more listens! Looking at the Wikipedia page, I see comparisons with Bowie, Outkast or Michael Jackson, but to be honest I don't think it has that much to do. This album is a singular piece of music on itself, and I promise I'll come back to it again. Probably not for driving, as on the first listen it didn't sound like a sing along thingy.
Tom Waits
4/5
I really like Tom Waits, so this was going to be instantly 4 or 5. Is not as good as the creepy Bone Machine, but still a dark record that reeks of America streets completely. If I vote with a 4 instead of a 5 is because a couple of cheesy ballads (e.g. on the nickel) that I didn't like at all. The rest is great.
Madonna
2/5
I was happy because I was pretty sure that I would rate with 1 star to my loathed Queen of Pop, but to be honest, I enjoyed the trip-hop approach of some of the songs of this album. Some others are crappy, and this have no soul, so rating it with 2 stars anyway.
Nine Inch Nails
1/5
I'm noisy but not too much. I scream, but I also whisper. I'm angry with the system but I work for multinationals. I'm a moron.
Pink Floyd
3/5
I love Pink Floyd, but this is too long, and the average quality of the songs is not on par with other PF records. Sorry not sorry for my millennial attention span.
Grant Lee Buffalo
2/5
A bit boring although I liked the gentle, americana approach to 90s rock.
AC/DC
5/5
Powerful. Heavy. Fun. Sweaty. Ballsy. Primitive. Dark. Macho. Simple. Amazing.
Jane Weaver
3/5
Loved the monotonous vibe, reminded me to some Kraut bands, although in a completely different register. Not sure if I really liked the album or not, as I had it as background music. I can say that it was not annoying. Marking as 3 which now means something like "could revisit in the future".
Paul Simon
3/5
Nice songs and a super fun fat bass sound.
Sam Cooke
5/5
What a surprise I had with this album. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't heard previously Sam Cooke, so when I saw the cover I expected another boring soft jazz or RnB thing. But, come on, this is so real and sounds so stray that it seems than I'm in a pub and I have this guy singing for me.
Really, really, enjoyed it. The best is of course the charming vocal performance, but the songs themselves are pretty good too. Amazing, captivating live album. Probably my best discovering so far in this 1001 list.
LL Cool J
1/5
I'm tired of this type of rap album on the list. It's an unpleasant surprise to start my day in the office by listening to these uninteresting 60-ish minutes, and I cannot find differences between many of them. Subpar and boring.
David Bowie
5/5
Every Bowie album is 5 stars and this one is no exception. Songs are great, Eno's noises are great and Robert Fripp contribution is great. Also, it reminds me of the Christiane F film which is great too. Top-notch, although I don't think I can be a hero anymore.
Everything But The Girl
1/5
Horrid, one of the worst ones I've ever listened.
The Isley Brothers
3/5
This was funky but a bit over the top.
Pearl Jam
4/5
I've always deemed this band as poppy or boring, but to be honest, I never listened to the whole record (prejudices, huh?). Don't get me wrong, I love some late 80s, and early 90s hard rock artists like Rage Against the Machine, Mudhoney, Alice in Chains, etc. However, due to the popularity of Pearl Jam, I assumed they were the poppiest.
Man, was I wrong was! This is rocker than I thought, and have a good bunch of singles. Great one! Gotta listen to it more (I know it feels weird to talk in these terms of such a renowned album, but I'm just being honest).
Slayer
The The
3/5
Enjoyed it, although I'm not 100% sure why.
Les Rythmes Digitales
1/5
What was this? I found almost no single minute of interest here. Repetitive subpar electronic music Daft Punk-like. Avoid it if you appreciate your time.
B.B. King
3/5
Good, I guess?
5/5
Every Beatles is 5-stars, and this is no exception. Love the sound!
A Tribe Called Quest
3/5
For being a rap album, this is not bad. Gotta listen to it more.
Fun Lovin' Criminals
2/5
Boring rap with real instruments. Not entirely bad.
Skepta
2/5
I don't hate this because is not american, I hate it because it's another boring rap album. One star more because of the QOTSA sampler.
The Beach Boys
2/5
First impression was pure amusement by the cover, I guess they wanted something not surfer at all? Which I found cool. Also, the record is nice, but on a single listen didn't leave a mark on me. I may or may not come back to it.
ZZ Top
2/5
I expected to like this more, but found it a bit generic. Again, I play this game with a single listen, so it's not fair to me to say that this is boring. Probably will listen to it more to check if it's a grower or just an overrated album. Btw, the sound is cool!
Nico
4/5
It's funny, because I love the first three Nico albums, but I don't really enjoy the banana one, which is supposed to be a milestone of its generation. Maybe it's an age thing; I see that album as a cornerstone for the modernity era _of my dad_. Maybe the shock factor is lost and that's the reason I don't really enjoy it.
Whatever. This debut from Nico is haunting. It's not as folkish as the second one (which I adore), but it's already charming and tremulous. Definitely coming back to it, not sure if while driving because it could lead me to a rapture-induced accident.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
5/5
Super cool! I don't really mind if Janis could sing or was just screaming. Her performance was full of passion, and there's a bunch of all-time classics here. One of the key albums from that period.
5/5
Extremely good! Back in the day, this seemed poppy and bland, but I was just a stupid child. This is killer, filled with great songs, and with an incredible production. It's like a revamped version of the Beatles or whatever. Funny how we looked this band as pop back in the day but in the shitty and fake 2025 music scene they would be tagged as rock for sure.
Also, way better than Blur.
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
5/5
Whoa, this is way better than expected! The first two tracks as amazing funk / old school rap. Then the one with the robot voice is a retro-futuristic thing that amused me so much! Then two cheesy ballads that are boring, but one of them is hilarious because of the sincere, extremely cheesy lyrics about admiration towards Stevie Wonder. I laughed so hard with this one.
Then, the final track is the all-time classic The Message. To be honest, I always thought this was a maxi single, not a full album, because this is the track that made history. But that said, the album is great, even with those corny ballads.
Ghostface Killah
1/5
Another boring rap album that nobody cares about.
Tom Waits
4/5
Love it! Although it's difficult for me to tell exactly why (or how this is different from other Tom Waits).
Aretha Franklin
4/5
What's not to like in this one?
PJ Harvey
3/5
Typical album that I really enjoyed, but just as background music. It's a pity, but it means that I need to listen to it more. I think I'm creating a Spotify playlist with albums from this page to listen to while driving.
Aimee Mann
2/5
What a rollercoaster of feelings! First, don't judge an album by the cover, but this looks like prefabricated pop-rock from my childhood.
Then I started listening to it, and I actually liked it! It is more folkish rock than I thought, with good vocals and superb production! It actually reminded me somehow of some of my favourite 80s songs, like Moonlight Shadow, but with less guitar and a more modern approach.
But in the end, this is a bit boring for me. The songs are not engaging, and I feel this is a subpar Alanis. But I moderately liked it anyway. Probably will come back to it later. Adding to the "Songs for driving" list.
Talking Heads
4/5
The best Talking Heads I've heard so far (and there are at least 3 of them in this list). Better songwriting and better songs. When I first heard the opening track, I was surprised by how Discipline-era of KC it sounded (and Belew is not playing here). Then I found that Fripp played, which explained a bit.
The Smiths
4/5
I've never been a fan, but I love the sounds of the Smiths album. There's something subtle, crystal-clear that engages me so much. And the vocals are great too, with some kind of storyteller feeling to it. I really like the band and will try to get deeper into them.
Belle & Sebastian
4/5
Really liked the soft, delicate approach here. Also, the winds section reminded me of the all-time classic Forever Changes. I always thought this band was boring, but is actually great.
The Darkness
2/5
I liked this when it was released, partly because of the over the top approach. Nowadays I just find it okay. Has good songs but is not one of the best retro rock albums.
Joanna Newsom
3/5
Way better than I expected. Irritating voice with folk vibes but in a disturbing way. It's a pity (or maybe not) that I'm not able to get the lyrics on the fly.
The Boo Radleys
3/5
Liked it and will listen to it more. The noisy approach was fun, original and entertaining.
Joni Mitchell
3/5
The best Joni Mitchell's up to this point. More jazzy, less folky. I like it.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2/5
Uh.. whatever! I even have this on CD, but cannot find the appeal, sorry. The audience seems to really enjoy it, though... better live than as background music while I work, I guess.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
Good big band stuff! I can't distinguish it from other artists because I'm an absolute ignorant, but this was fun to listen to.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
2/5
For the picture in the cover alone, this deserves one miserable star. But at the same time, the Flying V across the heart deserves five. So let's judge it based on the music alone. This is 2-star boring old-school rock. I can't see the point of listening to this in 2025. Not innovative, not amazing, just a regular rock album with a couple of real bangers.
Ryan Adams
1/5
I liked one song (Enemy Fire) because it sounded grungy to me. Then googled it and it turned out to be plagiarism. Boring crap.
Big Star
3/5
It started well, but as I progressed, I noticed the production didn't click for me. There was too much focus on the vocals, and the instruments were not that audible. That said, I have to listen to this more, as I didn't even know them by name
Paul Weller
2/5
I'm not a fucking dentist.
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Baroque yet funky and fucker, it was a blast.
Muddy Waters
5/5
Uh! At the beginning, I was like "ok, another blues album which I don't really understand". But heeeey this is actually amazing! The sound is amazing, the voice is amazing, the feeling... Everything. Also, is perfect to play it if you have your father-in-law visiting, as is my case. Top notch!
Joan Baez
2/5
What do I do with this? I didn't dislike it, but at the same time, couldn't find any interesting aspect on it. Just a boring, monotonous voice all over the place.
The Associates
4/5
Oh my, this has been a great surprise! I was sure that I was going to dislike it because of the title, cover, and genre, but it surprised me positively. What we have here is an 80s post-punk, new wave, or whatever-you-want-to-call-it album. But instead of being too dark or mellow, this is kind of freaky. Super inspired by David Bowie, with a twisted, ultra-synthetic drum sound and patterns.
I really enjoyed it, although maybe it lacked some choruses or singles.
Pretenders
3/5
My mom listened to this, so there's some sentimental value here. Trying to be objective, I like the sharp sound, close to punk rock, but the production with that clean, loud voice sets me a bit off. Songs are got but not outstanding.
ABBA
2/5
- "Everybody likes ABBA". No, not me.
- "I'm a punk rocker/metalhead/jazz aficionado but ABBA is my guilty pleasure". Nobody cares.
- "Every song is fun here". Every song is the fucking same here.
- "If you don't like ABBA, you're boring". At least I'm not a cheesy, soulless individual.
You get the point. The spirit of Eurovision (one of the most pathetic aspects of this part of the world) condensed in a single band. 2 stars because Dancing Queen is cool.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2/5
I don't get this whole "sad crooner" thingy, sorry. Maybe I'd like better a different album, but this one is too barebones for me (basically a guy and his piano whining around).
Arctic Monkeys
2/5
This is not extremely bad, but is rather boring/mediocre. I like the sound, but not the songs, which are not that good. The "indie rock" bands that preceded this one (e.g. The White Stripes) are way better and more interesting.
Back when all these bands popped out, I hated them. I don't hate them anymore, but still consider (at least this particular one) too soft for my tastes.
The Beach Boys
3/5
Ir was cool to background music while having a nap, not ironically. Then listened again in the car and really liked it, especially the baroque yet subtle instrumentation.
Blondie
5/5
Blondie is the perfect blend of pop and punk. Their 2nd and 3rd (i.e. this one) albums are absolute masterpieces with all-time classics. I slightly prefer the second because it's a bit rockier, but truth be told, this is perfection. Great radio-oriented songs, top-notch production, an amazing and super charismatic lead vocalist... again, pure NY punk-pop sound.
You'll have timeless classics like Heart of Glass or Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another here, but ALSO some others that maybe aren't that famous but rock as hard. Example: 11:59, what a song!
5 stars and I sold my soul to Debbie Harry.
Tom Waits
4/5
This is the album that got me into Tom Waits, and I think it's his best. His somber, nocturne aura is here at its peak, while at the same time has a bunch of good, catchy songs. It doesn't have annoying spoken parts, but instead is a whole of good songs with a deep, weird voice.
Elastica
3/5
Average pop/rock with a grungy vibe from the mid-'90s. While I acknowledge this is a standard record from that age (it could have been OST of a FIFA game, you know what I'm talking about), there's something super cool about this record. And I think it's the punk-ish approach, with short songs, energetic vibe, and a nice crunchy guitar tone. Cool! Straight to my "Discos para conducir" playlist, yeehaaaa!
Also, I don't mind if one of the songs is plagiarism; I like this one better than the original, and I was not familiar with either.
Queen
3/5
This wasn't as bad as I expected. The first half is pretty good, with solid riffing and a few of proto-heavy songs. The piano ballad is cheesy and dull. Bohemian Rhapsody is a cheesy song, but it's a classic for a reason. Overall, a good album, although too bombastic for my tastes.
The Clash
3/5
Ok but definitely not the only band that matters.
Michael Kiwanuka
4/5
I thought this was going to be more modern or perhaps more reggae... but to be honest, this rocks quite hard! Really liked the approach, and need to listen to this more, because I only listened to it once while working.
SZA
2/5
A regular album of modern R'n'B, I don't get the point. Just another one.
Dexys Midnight Runners
1/5
Please don't bore me with this crap.
Khaled
4/5
Amazing as everything by Khaled, although a bit more poppy than I'd like.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Masterpiece, everything's good here. Seminal bluesy album that set the foundation for the hard rock to come.
Peter Tosh
5/5
Amazing record, I thought it was to be more linear but I really enjoyed it, having single hits, ballads, etc.
Femi Kuti
4/5
Funky, sexy and a pleasure to listen.
Alexander 'Skip' Spence
2/5
I thought it was going to be super boring, but it was just boring, so way better than expected. Jokes aside, is not just a standard folk album. Instead, it has some nice details, etc. But didn't stick to me on the first listen.
Soundgarden
3/5
Good but not great. Sounds plastic to me. Not a fan, and most of my friends (with similar music taste) are, so I guess something's wrong with me. I don't care anyway.
Wu-Tang Clan
2/5
Boring, with super simple bases and with not fun at all "humorous" interludes (skits, they say). Why can you be gangsta and at the same time keep doing stuff for fun? This is something I cannot understand at all. Shouldn't you be all danger and seriousness? Whatever.
I know this album *is* a classic, but to be honest, I don't get it.
The Fall
2/5
Didn't hate it, didn't love it.
Japan
2/5
Good title, my life felt quite while I listened to this album. No feelings, no interest, no anything. At least it didn't annoy me.
The Blue Nile
1/5
Sometimes I wonder why I'm doing this stupid game. It's true that most of the days it's just 40-ish minutes of stupid background music, in the worst scenario. In the best scenario, some nice discovery or some really nice album.
But lately I've been having 0 job motivation, and this could impact how I perceive the experience.
This album set my day off yesterday. And I hated it. It made me feel sad. I didn't understand what I was doing with my life by engaging to this daily routine. But today I see everything different. I hope when I click the rating button for this album, I get some classic rock / punk or something noise. Please pray for me.
Elvis Presley
3/5
Not his best album, clearly this lacks some youth energy. Anyway it has a couple of fun songs.
Dr. Dre
3/5
Another rap album, and I'm already tired of writing reviews about them. A lot of details in these albums get lost if you're not able to catch the lyrics on the fly. And I can't catch the lyrics on the fly:
1. Because I'm bad at listening in a foreign tongue
2. Because I listen to them while working
3. Because I don't fucking care about all this "I'm the real motherfucker and I'll bring you down" stuff.
So, reviewing rap albums is a tough exercise for me, and for many non-English speakers.
Rants aside, this one was good. Or at least it was not as bad as others that I've come across on this list.
Did I hate it? No.
Will I get back? Maybe, when I'm feeling too much like a white-collar worker and want to be a gangsta for a day.
By the way, "Straight Outta Compton" is still my favorite non-Spanish rap album so far.
Joni Mitchell
3/5
There's a point where one I don't know what to say anymore about these kinds of albums. Did I like it? Uhmm, could be. Is there any difference between it and most of the soft jazzy folk records of the list? No, sir, no. Maybe I'll add it to my "Songs for driving" list, who knows.
Black Sabbath
5/5
First of all, RIP Ozzy.
This album is one of these rock albums where all the songs are hymns. Paranoid, Hand of Doom, War Pigs, Iron man, Electric Funeral... Because of this, it need to be a 5 stars even if it's not as groundbreaking as the debut. In this sense, it reminds me to some other albums like The Number of the Beast, Back in Back or Appetite for Destruction, where nearly every song is a hit single itself.
Besides this, what can we say that hasn't been said already? This is perfection and this is the birth of the best musical genre of the history of mankind: Heavy Metal.
Throbbing Gristle
3/5
I had high expectations on this one, because this is the kind of noise I like, but to be honest this particular record had too many voice tracks and stuff like that which I didn't enjoy. Besides this, is a nice sing-along background music.
Portishead
3/5
First let's be fair: I really liked this album. It was great to listen and captured perfectly the vibe of the second half of the 90s. Being this one from 1994, this means that it was a cornerstone of a genre, which is remarkable.
That said, was I was listening to it, I couldn't help but think that trip-hop may be the most depressing (mainstream) music of the latest years. It lacks the energy of the rock'n' roll, the rebellious spririt of rap (and variants) and you cannot even dance to it you would with the rest of pop music.
This is the equivalent of a life full of Benzodiazepine. It's there, people use it a lot, but at the same time is flat and reflects that something's off. People of the late 90s didn't wanna rock like late 80s, they were sad.
This led my generation (born between 85 and 90) grow with a permanent feel of apathy towards life, as our role model were digging trip-hop and boring indie rock instead of rocking out and enjoying life. I wonder how it was having Twisted Sister or Run DMC as role model instead of this "first-world issues" archetypical sound.
Good album, though.
Santana
4/5
I prefer the debut. This one sounds good but does not fully take off. I missed psychedelic madness. But good album overall.
The Slits
4/5
Amazing album. Not sure if I'd label it as punk, or at least for what we understand as punk in 2025. But for sure it's a good one, that will make you feel like you're in a tribe surrounded by weirdos.
PJ Harvey
5/5
Whoaaaa!!! Amazing songs, grungey vibe, and PERFECT sound. I liked this even more than the debut, which is of course an all-time classic. I now understand why many of my old friends rocked with this girl... the name always sounded like boring 90s indie for me but once again I was wrong. What an idiot!
Hole
3/5
Given the bad reputation of Courtney Love I assumed this was a bad band, which to be honest doesn't make sense at all. Truth is, this is a good album of 90s rock.
Michael Jackson
4/5
Oh, growing up is such a thing... When young, I remember that I despised Jacko and this kind of "commercial" music, even if I had just heard the hit singles (to be fair, in the case of this artist there are a lot of them). Then, suddenly, you're an adult and you cannot do this anymore for some reason. Something tells you that if this is respected, it is for a reason and that it's probably good. Also, you don't want to make bold statements without a proper listening.
This kind of attitude feels like the *right* one, but at the same time feels boring. I kind of miss the rebellious teenage days where you would insult commercial music trying to be as as edgy as possible.
Rants aside, this explains what I feel about this album. Yeah, for sure, is good, it has a lot of well-known songs and I really like to hear Beat It or Thriller at a party. But at the same time I feel like an imposter when listening to it.
It's an absolute classic? Of course it is. Does it move me as much as Slayer, Blondie or Ornette Coleman? Of course it does not.
The Jam
5/5
One of the greatest surprises of this list. Similar to early The Police but a little bit less punk. Amazing sound and melodies, and a a couple songs that, at least me, already knew (but didn't realize!). Also, cool cover of the Kinks. I can't stress enough how much did I like this album.
R.E.M.
2/5
Started good but progressively turned into a boring album, as expected. The inflection point was the cheesy ballad.
The Velvet Underground
5/5
Oh this is such an amazing album. I've always thought that it was a bit dated, and I see it less relevant nowadays than other of the 60s/70s (e.g. Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, Led Zep, etc.).
I know that it was revolutionary in its moment and that is a cornerstone for those born in the 50s like my dad. But somehow, it feels like for younger generations it is a bit less impactful than for theirs.
That said, when listening to it again, I can clearly see that this is a masterpiece. With its subtle, yet frightening approach, one can nothing but feel the chills when thinking about these pack of weirdos shooting heroin on stage and complaining about the city. Talking about influences, that minimalism in some songs (e.g. using just guitar, no bass) also reminds me of a preceding version of Jesus and Mary Chain's Supercandy.
These kinds of examples prove (me) that this is not another rock album of its era like Rolling Stones', but something more dangerous and disturbing, and I can now understand what my dad's generation felt about this. Or maybe not, as they had no idea or english, etc. Who knows.
Radiohead
4/5
As a teenager metalhead, back in the day I despised these band. But now it is evident that the only reason is that I was stupid and I hated "normal people". This band is extremely good and each of their albums (at least those that I've heard) are special in some way. For this record, what captivated me was the electronic bases, even close to breakbeat in some parts, while keeping a kind of progressive mood. Really good one for driving (added it to my list!).
Listening notes:
Amazing drum sounds at the beginning of the album. pianos, ruiditos, segundo tema, breakbeat!!
luego el tema de a punch up at a wedding me suena a prog 70s, to wapo. sinte masivo en myxomatosis
Scissor Sisters
2/5
This is weak and stupid. I liked the cover of Pink Floyd, though. The original is eerie and I'd expect that a cover would maintain that eeriness. But this one does it not. At all. It sounds more like a bunch of middle-age party goers would dance to while in ecstasy or whatever stupid drug.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
2/5
Boris music for normie dads pretending to be rockers. Not for me. I wish they were funkier. Maybe the first albums... I should try.
Listening notes:
Me gustó la de "I like dirt", el resto no. La de savior también, más pesadilla.
Kanye West
1/5
You pretend you're going beyond the rap genre because you're a new renaissance genius and you act like that (yes we all know you're crazy, we don't fucking care). The truth is that your music is pretentious AND lame. You're not ELP nor Yes, but a boring individual. Your version of Iron Man is stupid and worst of all, pretend to be clever. Music is so stupid nowadays.
The Zombies
2/5
Meh, it has a couple of nice bangers but it's not up to the point of quality that Beatles, Love or whatever.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
I was excited to get this, as I've seen this LP hundreds of time in my dad's collection, and I always thought Elvis Costello was an artist that I should be paying more attention to. But truth be told, although this album is nice to listen, I was wondering if it's still relevant in 2025. Of course it has good songs, and the punkish pop approach is cool, but doesn't sound so memorable. I really liked that although being from 79 it already has a 80s sound, which can be perceived in the structure of songs like Goon Squad or Moods for Moderns.
Also, elephants are cool!
Listening notes: Canciones como Goon Squad o Moods for Moderns me han sonado en estructura a hard rock 80tero, lo cual está guay. Por lo demás un disco que se puede oir pero no sé yo qué vigencia tiene en 2025.
King Crimson
5/5
Finally I get an album by KC in this list, I thought that was not going to happen and I was concerned! This is one of the band masterpieces, sounding heavy and complex at the same time (that opening!). I still prefer their 80s albums with a slightly different approach (more monotonous) but this is one of the 70s masterpiece, probably the best one.
Jack White
3/5
Liked this, good one to drive. Easy listening rock trying to sound like Led Zep, Rolling Stones etc but at the same time being modern. Adding to the list for driving, as usual.
Listening notes:
Wannabe de led zeppelin en canciones como blunderbluss aunque con un aire americano, está guay. Me gusta el enfoque de rock clásico pero con sonido moderno.
R.E.M.
2/5
I feel pathetic because I actually enjoyed this one.
Alice Cooper
5/5
Everything But The Girl
3/5
Liked this one, type of depressing drum n bass from the mid 90s that I loathed when younger but now find amusing because of its ultra short temporal frame.
Stevie Wonder
3/5
Good but long.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Oh this is fun! In these semi private rants I often complain about 90s indie rock/trip hop, because of its over-the-top depressing mood. Here we have the revamped 2000s, that inherited from the good (yet sad) 90s and added fun. And this one shows that flavour, mixing pop/"punk" (of course it has nothing to do with punk but you get the point?) with dance, some slow songs, etc. In some parts it reminded me of the Cardigans, but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are not as good as them, as this album gets a bit boring after the first 3-4 songs.
TL;DR Fun album, starts super good but fail to keep the quality during the duration of the record.
Cowboy Junkies
2/5
Started listening this thinking that I was about to discover a new genre (let's say modern dark country), really interested on the first songs and even adding the album to my "Albums for driving" infamous list.
But, as it always happen, I lost interest after 3-4 songs due to uninspiring songwriting. In short, the idea is great, but I wasn't able to connect with the songs.
ABBA
2/5
I hate ABBA but I hated this album a bit less than the rest. It seems they went full "serious band" here and the result is not that bad. Of course is still cheesy but at least is not embarrassing and there are actual songs. De cabeza a "Discos para conducir" to listen to it again in the future.
Morrissey
3/5
Morrissey has been somebody that I've ignored my whole life (including Smiths), but I always suspected that I'd really enjoy his music if I paid attention to it. With this list, I've made such a step and I was not disappointed. The 2/3 albums that I've heard from him are really good. What I like the most (and I think I already wrote these), is the haunting atmosphere, which really captivates me.
Dusty Springfield
3/5
TBH I expected to like this way less than I did. I mean, is just a collection of covers (I think) of popular songs, but at the same time has tight musicianship! That's what I like about these 60s records... even in a standard soft vocal jazz album, you'd find a backing band that crushes it. Nowadays everything is overproduced shit and plastic.
By the way I'm finding myself coming back to these album even if I discovered it just a few days ago. Good good good.
Earth, Wind & Fire
3/5
I really liked it, although everything's worse than the mighty "September"
Soul II Soul
1/5
You can listen to it, but should you? Nothing new after hearing it. Is club music and is from the late 80s, I get it. Hedonistic thingy.
Basically is just another sterile attempt to add something new to the music history.
You can record this album, but should you?
M.I.A.
4/5
TBH I expected to hate this but I really liked it. Its monotonous approach is what I'm usually looking for when it comes to music, so with that it already have 50% of the work done. But also, the arab influences, the simple yet powerful bases, etc, while keeping the songs catchy is what really won me. By the way the Mango Pickle Down River song is awful with that children choruses. And Paper Planes, besides its fame, is not the best song in the album at all. Maybe I don't like children choruses? Another brick in the wall is not my thing either...
Listening notes:
I liked the repetitive approach, but the songs with the children (Mango Pickle Down River) was atrocious. The songs that sounded more arab were super cool.
Was 20 Dollar a Blue Monday cover? Really dig it.
Roxy Music
3/5
This was a nice surprise indeed! I've always read about this band here and there, but never listened to them. I even didn't know how they sounded like, so I expected something more poppy bc of the name. But to be honest this is mainly rock, and it's so heterogeneous it gets ridiculous! But in a good way.
While the obvious reference could be Bowie, there are some hints of Kiss there in the guitar riffs (All I want is You) and amazing guitar solos in 2 or 3 songs. Then in maybe the best song of the record (Out of the Blue) star in a dark dark way almost resembling post punk. To be lated evolved into rock n roll again, nice!
So this is the vibe... glammy rock n roll with a lot of influences, most of them good but with a few embarrassing moment (that corny country song If Takes All Night is annoying).
Really liked this, and the cover art is cool too!
Listening notes:
Obvious resemblance is Bowie, but guitars are heavier, check those solos and KISS riffs in All I Want is You, super suprised about this... always heard the name but first time listening to them. And then Out of the Blue sounds totally like Joy Division to transform into a shredding guitar piece... what mejunje is this?
El rollo ese country ridículo de If It Takes All Night no es para mí
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
This is an absolute masterpiece and I have pure envy of those born in the late 50s that could experience this a as a brand new album when they were teenagers. It does still sound noisy today... whoa!
Pink Floyd
5/5
Probably the best Pink Floyd album. Sad but relaxing and beautiful. Reeks of melancholy. On a personal level it brings me memories of being slightly drunk in a Chiringuito listening to Shine On You Crazy Diamond during the sunset then falling asleep in the seashore. Ah, those were the days (2 months ago).
Beyoncé
1/5
Oh no this is such a crap for normies. Fuck off.
The Monks
5/5
Whoa I didn't knew about this album and it rocked so hard!!! Proto hard rock? Or whatever from the 60s. With killer songs and sound. The cuckoo cuckoo bonustrack was aberrant but the rest were super cool. The other bonus track with the horns etc sounded a bit like Love. So this album is ground-breaking at some many levels and at the same time a complete unknown.
Os Mutantes
4/5
Fun and obscure.
Pixies
5/5
Now I understand why everybody say this is the band that influenced Nirvana. I have listened to Bossanova before and I found a good, heterogeneous rock album, but this one has THE sound that I expected. Lo-fi, sometimes poppy, sometimes punk, but always pre-grungy. Really liked it and gonna listen to it a looooot.
Nick Drake
3/5
Of the category "boring folk music from a dude and his guitar" this is surprisingly good. Sharp songs, good musician ship and sound and a good overall feeling. Too bad I can't remember any particular song... but I only listened to it once. Will I listen to it more? I don't know. Maybe.
2/5
Wine bar album.
Everything good but the "Você Gosta" porn song which was kind of embarrassing.
Thundercat
3/5
Good but too long. Loved the first tracks when they were super jazzy. It was a massive surprise, I don't find often that "80s jazz rock" approach in modern music. Then I got distracted and the album started to be a bit more boring. And the guy was the Suicidal Tendencies bass player, cool!
Antony and the Johnsons
2/5
I like the trumpets in one of the songs. But I didn't like the rest. Although I have to admit that I expected to like it even less.
Steely Dan
4/5
I'm ashamed to say I really liked this Yacht rock masterpiece.
The Velvet Underground
2/5
Good but not as memorable as the banana one.
Prince
4/5
All time classic. Cheesy AND amazing.
Elton John
4/5
Rocked harder than I expected + I knew some of the songs even if I didn't realized they were from Elton John. Amazing!
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Adam Raised a Cain rocks very hard, good song!
Streets of Fire is a cool ballad but the keyboards made me smile.
Overall a bit boring but better than expected.
The Band
2/5
Good one but I was so annoyed by personal reasons that I didn't even play attention, I was just expecting it to end and play Khanate instead.
The Mothers Of Invention
3/5
I don't get why people complained about this album being noises and random voices. I saw it more like a collection of unrelated mini songs, but whatever.. liked it but one listen is not enough. Also, not being a native English speaker is a handicap with anything Zappa.
The xx
3/5
First song reminded like a modern, simple version of Heroes by Bowie (check the vocal melody). Liked the carillon/xylophone. (Chiringuito music to listen to while eating an avocado toast). Música de chiringuito para tomar una tostada de aguacate.
Good background music.
The Verve
2/5
Boring and the parts with the classical music are lame.
Sonic Youth
5/5
I wish I was a teenager in early 1990 to discover this and realize that you don't need to be a stupid rockstar and live the indie dream. But I was a stupid toddler.
The Dictators
3/5
Good rock n roll but Manowar was better.
Radiohead
3/5
Good band but this one has been the least shocking up to this point. Don't get me wrong, it was ok but it didn't sound fresh as the previous ones. Also I'm not the typical target so I kind of expected it.
Ray Charles
2/5
I guess this is good but to me it was monotonous. I liked the movie 20 years ago though!
The Band
5/5
Nice swing in "Tears of Rage", pretty moving! In a Station is a superb ballad too, I'm really digging this album. It was cheesy but it is for sure a classic, I'm glad I found this album out. Way better than their self titled.
Yes
5/5
Roundabout is amazing, reminds me to Boston first track in the sense that is proggy but memorable at the same time. The album does not feel dull even if it has a lot of interlludes, I don't find them annoying at all. The last song is amazing too and proto heavy, yeah!
Janet Jackson
2/5
I did not like it, but for no particular reason. Maybe too cheesy.
The Sugarcubes
2/5
Ok it has Björk but for me was an average album.
Miles Davis
5/5
What needs to be said about this one? Canonical jazz album for rock aficionados.
Tracy Chapman
4/5
I don't think this is secretary rock at all. Love the voice. Love the proto 90s approach. Love the first two songs! It's a pity I cannot understand the lyrics because my poor english.
Fourth one, a capella, I can get the lyrics in this one, yay!
The Libertines
3/5
I really liked this one. I would say this is modern rock but has a very classic vibe!
The Byrds
3/5
Cool one and the Moog Raga bonustrack made my day!! Boing boing boing! The Byrds rock.
My Bloody Valentine
3/5
Good but not as good as the second one. This is more generic.
The Smiths
4/5
Love the Smiths (although I cannot remember a single song bc I discovered them already old), love this album. My girlfriend heard it in the background and said "This guy can't sing", but I like it.
John Lee Hooker
3/5
Good but sounds like polished blues. Blues for normies. But maybe I'm a normie when it comes to blues? Or am I not?
Happy Mondays
3/5
Whatever. I don't know. Sounds good, and original, soft approach, not your typical instruments, etc.
Do I remember any of the songs? Nope.
It is fair to judge because of that? Nope, because I listened only once.
Would I like to hear it more? Yeah why not? Adding to the Música para Conducir infamous playlist.
Nina Simone
3/5
Great.
Green Day
2/5
Not bad but too poppy. I liked the more aggressive songs.
Pink Floyd
5/5
One of the best albums ever. Breathe is such an amazing opener.
Magazine
5/5
When it comes to give 5 stars, this software tends to reinforce my already existing biases.
I'll for sure rate with ***** Rust In Peace or Reign in Blood, because they are my all time favourites.
Then if I discover that I love everything by Bowie or Waits I'll probably be biased to rate them with 5 out of 5 (or maybe 4 in the worst scenario) because I'm already convinced that I really dig that artist.
Even for artists that I don't know but are legendary, I won't be able to escape the bias. This happened with Sam Cooke. Man, did I like that damned live album!
With this Magazine album, nevertheless, have happened a totally different thing. I didn't know about them. I don't know if they are a cult band (like Television for example, talk about media...). I absolutely know nothing about the band. But I've dig the album thoroughly!
This is an amazing album of "after-punk" (?) but to me is much more than that. It have an amazing horns sound, catchy songs, more punki ones (one of them even resounded like Voivod's Dimension Hatröss!!).
I'll keep this album as one of my main discoveries using this software.
Goldfrapp
2/5
Not cottagecore, but extremely urban actually. And a bit boring.
Fleetwood Mac
2/5
Worse than Rumours and I guess I'll never listen to it again.
Booker T. & The MG's
3/5
I acknowledge this was a success back in the day but tbh is more like a single with a bunch of songs. That said, is a pleasant listen. Instrumental naive blues.
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
I don't know what to say, I see that "gay" is one of the most used tag and that sadden me, as we're still playing the clichés game. I mean, this is music. But I can understand it, at least to a certain point. For me this is fun, danceable and at the same time introspective. I didn't know how this band sounded and I have enjoyed it.
Sarah Vaughan
2/5
Listening notes:
Comfy but the vocal is too high while the instruments are not.
Don't get the humor part, as usual. Why are people laughing? I cannot get what's fun, problems of having bad listening skills in foreign tongue. Also I don't really pay attention.
By that time this could be nice, now I'd say it sounds like an AI generated nice, comfortable album.
Suede
4/5
Listening notes:
I thought this was going to be crap but I'm really liking it. Sound is amazing. Hard guitars in the Animal Nitrate song sounds a bit metal. Expected this to be way more poppier but sounds like rock. Vocals sounds like Bowie which is fantastic. People say they sound like the Smiths, but I found Suede to be more rock, at least for the 2 first songs.
Actually the second one sounded like a Bon Jovi song in structure, and I know that all the Suede fans will laugh at me but you can fuck yourselves.
The Flaming Lips
2/5
Meh, I agree this is for middle class vegans
