Stan is a literary masterpiece!
A great country album with a bit of rock from one of the greats!
I would’ve given it 4 stars but well it’s Michael Jackson
How does this fall into 1001 albums, surely there was better?
Love Zeppelin but this one was not for me. Take out Immigrant Song and this would get a 2.
After listening to the 10 seconds of the opening song I new this was trash!
Only know the ABBA hits which are great! Having never listened to an album in full this was a pleasant surprise.
What a great discovery, enjoyed it!
I had never heard of Nick Drake, what a beautiful album. Such a shame we lost him so young
I am not a fan of Leonard Cohen, he sounds like he’s reading a book!
Not a huge hip hop fan and only know two Beastie Boys songs (Fight For Your Right & Sabotage). I loved this, what a Banger!
What a shit show of an album! My ears bleed from the start of the first track to when I turned it off halfway thru! Hopefully no more Tom Waits albums.
What a Deeeliteful album! A real Groove in the Heart!
I had never heard of Rush, it was pleasant without being outstanding!
Flog of a human and flog of an album!
I’m a RHCP fan, so I’m biased!
I only know one of The Flaming Lips songs (not on this album) and I find that one a bit strange. I’m not really sure how to describe this album.
Really enjoyed this album!
What garbage! I cannot believe this is the same band that wrote Come On Eileen.
Sitting on the fence with this one! Didn’t hate but didn’t get excited about it!
I’m not a fan of the Gallagher brothers but this album blew up summer 95 in Australia. I was only a young man and this album rocked. I believe this album ignited the fuel of Britpop!
I really have this one a good go, think I got halfway before tapped out. Really uninspiring, another album that somehow made this list.
I’m 48 and grew up with Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden. I knew very little of those grunge bands that came before them. Only discovered Screaming Trees in the last year and I love them, so this is a biased rating!
It’s the Beatles! I’ve never listened to a full album before and I only know the hits. Every song on this album almost sounded the same, a bit ho hum really. A 3 because it’s the Beatles!
Not a Magic Mushroom Music kinda guy and that’s what this album is!
I only recently listened to my first Def Leppard album Hysteria and I loved it. Didn’t like this one as much but still an ok album.
A funky & wacky little album.
My first full listen of a Pretenders album and I loved it!
Another, never heard of album review. Little Simz, you little gem!
The whole album wasn’t available and I only got to listen to three songs. That was three too many!
Great album, almost a 5! Lost its way a little as the album went on.
I found this to be a great background play, whilst cooking dinner. Great!
I found this to be a great background play, whilst cooking dinner. Great!
As a teenager of the 90s I was hugely influenced by the Seattle Sound! I never got the chance to see Chris Cornell live, for me he is the greatest alternative/grunge vocalist!
This album did very little for me. First few songs sort of ok, but went downhill quickly!
Nope, Nope, Nope! Surely a better album than this could have been found.
This album still bangs! I saw Green Day earlier this year, they played Dookie and American Idiot in full. Probably the greatest concert I’ve seen.
I really tried but this just doesn’t do anything for me
I was sheltered with music as a very young teen. Only really introduced to Led Zeppelin by a school friend when I was 17. I Went out and grabbed a Zeppelin compilation tape that was on constant play in my car. A couple of songs from this album on that compilation. Brilliant album, one of the very best
Could never get into the Pet Shop Boys and couldn’t get into this
Brilliantly Solemn and Dark!
The following duos are only a small handful of duos better than Simon & Barfunkel:
Starsky & Huch, Itchy & Scratchy, Tom & Jerry, Beavis & Butthead, Bert & Ernie, Calvin & Hobbes, Smokey & The Bandit, Abbot & Costello, Darstardly & Muttley, Pinky & the Brain, Ren & Stimpy, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Wallace & Gromit, Laverne & Shirley, Cagney & Lacey, Dharma & Greg, Jake & the Fatman, Kath & Kim, Mork & Mindy, Scarecrow & Mrs King, Simon & Simon,
I’m a casual Sonic Youth fan, I find this album misses the mark!
Bowie is a music god but this felt like Temu Bowie!
This was more like Lemon Juice, very sour tasting album!
The Cream is supposed to rise to the top, but not on this occasion!
I wanted to hate this album after the first song, but the more I got in deeper the more I started to enjoy it. Then I hit Card, did not know this was Numan’s song. I love that song!
Dropping the Garfunkel didn’t help this album!
Apparently this is a loved classic but I couldn’t get through it.
Some good songs mixed with ok songs but I still enjoyed it!
Didn’t like Pantera in the early nineties and I still don’t like them
Can’t believe how many shit albums are in this list.
Really thought I’d like this album, love Once in A Lifetime. Album was meh, some songs just sounded the same
I don’t how to rate this one! I started off disliking this and then got Needle of Death where it picked up.
Vibrant, funky album! Great to have on in the background while doing chores
I don’t see how influential this album could be, boring as bat shit!
As an Aussie I’m embarrassed to say I’d never heard of The Saints. To be fair I was only 2 yrs old when this album came out. I absolutely loved this album, it’s a funky/punky album.
Could only manage one and a half songs. Terrible sound and her voice really annoyed me
I just didn’t enjoy these covers, but I’ll give an extra star cause it’s Willie!
How on earth did this make it in to the 1001 list!
Take a Load Off is good the rest not so much
A very funky album, kicked off with a great 10 minute hendrix like guitar solo
It’s just passable at 2 stars!
This was awful, another 1 star! Bring on the next
As a teenager & young adult I loved Hotel California the song. Now more matured (in age only) it doesn’t have the same hold it had on me. It’s more of a nostalgic feeling when I hear that song. The rest of the album had a more nauseous feel to it. Extra star for nostalgia
A couple of good songs but I feel overall it’s a pretty mediocre album considering it’s the mighty Beatles!
I had low expectations with this album and I was correct!
It takes a great song to get me excited about ED music. Personally I didn’t find any on this album. Hard to rate cause I’m just not into this genre.
I thought I loved Van Morrison, until I listened to this whole album. Love Moondance & of course Brown Eyed Girl (not on this album), but this album was a bit same same!
Don’t mind the opener but the rest is bland. Just not a Neil Young kinda guy!
Supermarket Home Brand boring!
Sounds like a church band and that’s a nope from me!
I find this a very vanilla album!
Another album I can’t believe is on the list! One minute in I new I was wasting my time!
I was 8 when this came out, very much into all things big that came out of the US of A (As were my friend group)!
I loved I’m Fire (with no regard to its meaning) and I think it’s the best on the album. I was into Born In The USA but over time that has diminished significantly and I can’t stand hearing it anymore.
Absolutely love Common People, the rest of the album is a bit boring & repetitive!
I didn’t know anything about Tom Waits before this album but what I do know now is that this album is rubbish!
Couldn’t really get into it but it wasn’t awful!
I cannot get into this, just plain boring!
It’s ok, not awful but not great!
Started off promising but got bland later on!
I thought I really liked The White Stripes, I mean I love Elephant but did not really enjoy this one the same.
I appreciate that it takes all kinds of music to make the world go round, but this was utter garbage! Didn’t make it past Where Time Becomes a Loop, over and over again!
I found this one pretty smooth and easy listening. Just put it on in the background!
Until a year ago I couldn’t have told you a single Pixies song. I discovered that they were an influence on some great bands, namely Nirvana.
I listened to a random album before seeing them open for Pearl Jam in Sydney. I must admit that I was late in and only saw them play 3 or 4 sings. I just didn’t feel it.
Then I listened to this album and it blew my mind wide open, what an album!
Had some good qualities but sounded repetitive!
I couldn’t even get past the first song!
I love The War On Drugs and only discovered them in recent times.
Better than some of the other rubbish albums on this list
My mum passed away last week and I had 4 or 5 rubbish albums to get thru. Not really a fan of this genre, but this one just seemed to be what I needed and it helped put my soul at ease.
It just sounds all the same, not a fan but I’ll give it 2 stars because of Bobby McGee.
I have listened to this album only once before and I thought it was just ok. But listening to it this time round I’m in love with this album. What an intro Teen Age Riot has, just sets up the whole album nicely. Now this is a 5 star album and it couldn’t have come at a better time as I’ve had shit album after shit album I thought about quitting! Not now, thank you Sonic Youth
Is Suede considered Britpop? This album smells like it and it stinks!
I could not finish this album Faust enough! Thank you, I’ll see myself out
I preferred Doughboy in Boyz n the Hood!
It’s no Are You Experienced! Fairly mediocre for me
Didn’t know much about Morrissey or The Smiths. I’m happy to not find out anymore.
Not for me, sounded dull and repetitive!
I just don’t get this style of music!
Enjoyed the sound, lyrics & singing not so much! Don’t see this as a classic album.
Not a big Metallica fan, enjoyed Enter Sandman & Unforgiven early 90s but that that was the extent of it. This album was great really enjoyed it, going to listen to more Metallica!
Another Beatles album, I’ll give it 2 as I feel generous today!
Another rap album I couldn’t get into but it was better than others I’ve listened too
What a stellar album, very cool!
I don’t mind the Blues but this one just didn’t smack me in the face. Maybe there’s better Muddy Waters albums?
Another 90s metal band I could not get into as a teenager but I enjoyed most of this album (didn’t care for the Ice Cube collab). Solid album!
Hated metal bands of the 90s but really appreciate them now. I think this album is chaotic and beautiful, loved it!
I knew nothing about this band until today and I hope I never hear from them again
This was no good, overrated artist
This is not the Jimi I love
My early 20’s kids think he’s great, I find him dull and uninteresting
Almost elevator music but not as good!
I’m a new Maiden fan, this was brilliant
I had never heard of Bad Brains until I recently discovered Kurt Cobain was a fan of their debut album. I really enjoyed this and then promptly added another album to my collection.
This was cool and pleasant
Never listened to a Bob Marley album before and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’ll give it a 3 & move on
I was introduced to this album at 13 (nearer 50 now) and it blew my mind, in particular Anarchy in the UK. I ended up buying the album and must have almost worn out the CD. I am an Antichrist!
Did not listen, not interested in Spector nor Christmas songs!
It’s a classic Bowie album
Another Heavy Metal band I really knew nothing about and for 30 years refused to listen to. This was banging, loved the guitar and drum work. I preferred Iron Maiden which I listened to only a week or so again, but looking forward to listening to more Megadeath!
Not a Duran Duran fan, couple of ok songs and the rest a bit bland
One good song, I prefer The Strokes!
I was confused that this album was already in my library, I had no recollection of listening to this album. After the first minute my brain jolted into gear and I recalled how shit this album was
I was 17 when this came out and I had a preconceived idea that Hole, more so Courtney Love was not up to scratch. My thinking was probably warped by the media and being a Nirvana fan I saw Courtney as the enemy.
I only knew one Hole song Celebrity Sin, I refused to like it even with it being played over and over again on the radio.
This album slapped me in the face so hard it factory reset my brain and I now have a new found love for Hole!
If Manson was really Kevin Arnold’s best friend I’d have given this 5!
It’s pretty good but just not my type of music
I couldn’t get into this!
I really enjoy Royals but I cannot get enthused about any songs on this album
This album was neither inspiring or uninspiring!
Opens with a masterpiece and then the music dies
I didn’t really appreciate R.E.Ms music as a younger lad but I sure do know. This was the first time listening to this album
WTF did I just listen too! Absolute garbage, this album has no right to be in the 1001 list!
Brilliant! Just Brilliant! I grew up only really knowing Fight For Your Right and have never listened to a full album. I’ve been missing out.
I really thought I liked The White Stripes, turns out I really only like a couple of songs. But I’ll give them 3 because of those songs
Ordinary, I couldn’t get halfway through
Couldn’t get into this album, not one of their best
Brilliant, love this album. I’m a recent Sabbath convert
This is not for me and I’ll leave it at that
It’s kind of ok and then it’s not at the same time. Not for me!
