I was a little skeptical about this album because (1) I’m not big on double albums and (2) I’ve heard this album can be inconsistent at times. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the full project.
Disc 1 is a classic Led Zeppelin album, no notes. We get a little more outside of the typical Zeppelin sound on Disc 2, and honestly, I’m so here for it…it’s more mellow, more funky, and more experimental, and more importantly, it somehow works. Maybe drop the last song because it’s creepy, but other than that, great listen.

I recently watched the Amy documentary, and it really adds perspective as to all the shitty things about her life. She was a product of her environment which molded her views on relationships/life which influenced the themes in lots of her songs. I’ve tried to get into Radiohead before with no luck (really just OK Computer), so I was skeptical going into this.
Instrumentally this sounds really good. I read a lot about the band and this album after my first listen and learned this is a departure from their typical sound, but this electronic/rock fusion works and creates an almost eerie atmosphere tension. Lyrically I initially struggled here. The few times I listened to Radiohead I didn’t like Yorke’s voice and could barely understand what he was saying. I really immersed myself when listening this time, and the dark cryptic lyrics along with Yorke’s whiny voice compliment the instrumentals really well.
Overall I really enjoyed this and am optimistic going into the more “mainstream” Radiohead albums on this list.

At a certain point, these songs start to sound all the same…which isn’t very punk rock if you ask me.

First in depth listen to Bob Dylan and hot take: I really don’t think Dylan’s voice is that bad. It compliments the guitar and harmonica really well. This has good storytelling and messages but I’d say my only complaint is that it can feel like it drags on.

Great beats and production and overall an fun album to listen to. Biggest tragedy is that we don’t learn the answers to the 4 trivia questions.

I actually liked this a good amount more than I thought I would. Britpop to me can all sound pretty similar and I thought this did a good job of having distinguishing instrumentals and vocals comparatively to other albums I’ve listened to on here.

They’re at their best when they’re jamming and not screeching…but even then it gets old fast.

This was consistently good throughout. The production , the vocals, the atmosphere, are all really good here.

I think we all sometimes wish we were an eagle, or a bird of your choosing (mine would be a peregrine falcon…but that’s not the point) so you can fly away from your problems. The thing with this album is that Callahan’s voice is so soothing and calming that it captivates you to stay. The melodies of the tracks compliment his voice and overall this was a quite peaceful and relaxing listen.

There’s some good drums here but honestly, this genre has always been an uphill climb for me and this album is no exception.

I don’t think this is peak Led Zeppelin, but it’s still good! Even if each song doesn’t always stick the landing, I appreciate how this is more blues/folk and a left turn from their typical sound.

Chapman’s voice really elevates the storytelling in each of these songs to get the point/message across. So many songs about problems that are still so relevant today even 30+ years later. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, it’s an amazing album.
Comparing this to the likes of Jack Johnson and Michael Bublé is an insane take (yes I’m looking at you secretary rock review).

David Byrne is a weirdo and I am here for it. The energy dips a little towards the end but this album is FUNKY. Each song has such a distinct feel and groove that just makes you enjoy the whole ride.
