Likes: Running up that hill, the big sky, jig of life, Hello earth
Dislikes: waking the witch
Took 2 listens to get into it (didn’t realize it was a concept album lol). Instrumentals are Immersive and unique but feel like there’s some lulls on the second side
Likes: hanging on the telephone, 11:59, heart of glass
Fun and energetic throughout
It’s consistent throughout and works as something to have in the background, but not a lot sticks out to me.
Likes: bigmouth strikes again
Enjoyable listen with nice harmonies and instrumentals.
Likes: Judy blue eyes, pre-road downs, wooden ships, long time gone
I’m a sucker for some good keys but doesn’t have quite as much appeal as Born to Run has.
Likes: badlands, something in the night, racing in the street, promised land
Funky!
Likes: little child runnin wild, pusherman, Freddie’s dead, no thing on me, superfly
First artist on this list so far who I had no prior knowledge about, so went in blind. A unique sound at first, but as the album goes, everything starts to sound the same and blend.
Likes: Sidewalk serfer girl, juxtapozed with u
While the album’s middle parts don’t have as much pull as the incredible start and finish, it’s not enough to bring down the overall quality of this album.
Likes: Baba O’Riley, The Song is Over, Going Mobile, Behind Blue Eyes, Won’t Get Fooled Again
A little too twangy for me.
Likes: Return of the Grievous Angel, In My Hour of Darkness
Really cool blend of jazz and rock, but some songs feel that they overstay their welcome.
Likes: Peaches En Regalia, Son of Mr. Green Genes, It Must Be A Camel
Fun and enjoyable listen throughout, but ultimately something I probably wouldn’t give a re-listen to
Likes: Title Music, Countess’ Caper, Baby Let’s Dance Together
My favorite Beatles album (as of now).
Likes: You Won’t See Me, Nowhere Man, Michelle, In My Life, Wait
Elements of Zopf bring this down for me but otherwise a really peaceful and fun listen.
Likes: Penguin Cafe Single, The Sound of Someone You Love Who’s Going Away and It Doesn’t Matter
I don’t hate it, it’s just not my genre.
Likes: One More Hour, Little Babies
Even though this album loses steam pretty quickly, I would have preferred this one added to my ITunes without my consent back in the day.
Likes: Where the Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, With or Without You
I feel like I got whiplash as the songs would go from really unique, impressive, and fun to what am I listening to?
Likes: tubular bells
Good instrumentals but not a fan of the sound of the vocals.
Likes: Wardance, Change
Enjoyable jazzy listen.
Likes: Glad, Empty Pages, Stranger to Himself
Good jams but gets a little old/boring after a while.
Likes: Stormy Morning, You Don’t Love Me
Might be the nostalgia for me here.
Likes: Nowhere fast, Stellar, Drive
Starts off strong and then just gets really boring and monotonous
Likes: Big Sur, Don’t Steal Our Sun
Could’ve sworn this was about Compton, Rhode Island.
Likes: Straight Outta Compton, Fuck Tha Police, Gangsta Gangsta, It Aint Rough, Parental Discretion Iz Advised, Express Yourself, Quiet on tha Set
Grew on me after some re-listens, but it mostly all just blends together and doesn’t stand out to me.
Likes: Revival, Coronado, He Would Have Laughed
Thought it was actually a pretty relaxing listen. It does all blend together but it works for me.
Likes: These Early Days, Goodbye Sunday, Blue Moon Rose,
Good flow, good instrumentals, good lyrics, good rap.
Likes: Selfish, 101FM, Pressure, Sherbet Sunset, Flowers
While I’m familiar with Black Sabbath and have liked the few songs I’ve heard before, this was my first time diving into a full album. Was genuinely surprised at how much I liked this given I usually am not a heavy metal fan. The guitar, drums, and even Ozzy’s voice all sound really good here.
Likes: Wheels of Confusion/The Straightener, Changes, Snowblind, Cornucopia, Under The Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes
I can eat seventeen saltines 💁♀️
Likes: Missing Pieces, Love Interruption, Hypocritical Kiss
Maybe this was groundbreaking back in the early 2000’s, but idk it just seems so middle of the road to me.
Likes: The Scientist, Clocks,
This was the first one I’ve gotten where it felt like a slog to get through. 2+ hours of song after song with a nasally/whiny voice is too much. Only a few saving graces in this.
Likes: Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Galapagos, 1979
Enjoyable
Likes: Shot by Both Sides, Burst
Vocally, they’re not that good. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Likes: Dirty Boots, Kool Thing, Cinderella’s Big Score
I equate this album to what it would feel like if I liked The Smiths.
Likes: Darklands, Happy When It Rains, April Skies, On The Wall
As someone who is a big rap fan I was excited to do a full dive into this. It was cool to see how future artists would sample this. The beats, instrumentals, and whole vibe of this album is very fun, but man their rapping style is mainly just yelling which can get old fast.
Likes: The New Style, Fight For Your Right, No Sleep Till Brooklyn, Brass Monkey
I don’t hate it but it’s kinda bland.
Likes: One More Name, Buenos Noches from a Lonely Room
Don’t let the Temu Tom Brady album cover fool you, this is a really fun listen.
Likes: Uncontrollable Urge, Satisfaction, Gut Feeling, Come Back Jonee
I didn’t want to like this at first, but after a few repeats, it’s quite peaceful and enjoyable.
Likes: Ballad of Big Nothing, Between The Bars, Rose Parade, Angeles, Say Yes
This might just be my genre.
Likes: Cloud Nine, Runaway Child Running Wild, Don’t Let Him Take Your Love From Me, I Gotta Find A Way
There’s so many better gangsta rap albums from the 90’s….stick to Law and Order. It’s not all bad, but way too long, and sounds dated and corny.
Likes: Mic Contract, New Jack Hustler, Body Count
I didn’t want to be that cliche guy who, like everyone else, says this is a masterpiece…but damn this is good.
Likes: Breathe, Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Us And Them, Brain Damage
Was in a bad mood before listening and this helped get the ✨angst✨ out.
Likes: Holidays in the Sun, God Save the Queen, Submission
It’s no Superfly but still quite good!
Likes: Billy Jack, So In Love, Blue Monday People, Hard Times
there’s really just nothing going on here for me
The jams and riffs are good but even with the big hit songs, it all pretty much feels the same.
Likes: Hells Bells, Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long
Started out fun and unique but then quickly got repetitive and obnoxious and I found myself looking at the clock as the album continued.
Likes: Fascist Groove Thang, Penthouse and Pavement
Started growing on me at Growing on Me.
Likes: Growing on Me, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Givin’ Up
I be dancing to this, queen.
Likes: The Visitors, Head Over Heels, When All Is Said and Done, Soldiers
This is hard because it’s basically 2 different albums and I like the first side a lot more. There’s still enough gems scattered throughout though to make this a worthwhile listen/experience.
Likes: Get Ready for Love; Cannibal’s Hymn; Hiding All Away; There She Goes, My Beautiful World; Breathless; Supernaturally; Carry Me
Listened on a long car drive and was a good relaxing choice.
Likes: Lively Up Yourself; No Woman No Cry
Lauren Boebert wishes she could be Alanis at a theater.
Likes: All I Really Want; You Outta Know; Hand In My Pocket; Head Over Feet; Ironic
Was hoping this would resonate with me a little more given my preference to the genre. The band, energy, and performance were great but ironically, there’s something about Brown’s voice that just didn’t stick the landing.
Likes: I’ll Go Crazy; Try Me; I Don’t Mind
The lyrics and storytelling are all there but I don’t think it’s as sonically consistent as some of his other albums. Still a solid play through.
Likes: Born in the USA; Cover Me; Working on the Highway; I’m On Fire; Dancing in the Dark
Emotional and a little aggressive…but I don’t hate it!
Likes: Rid of Me; Rub Til it Bleeds; Highway 61 Revisited; 50ft Queenie
Fun, funky, and punchy
Likes: Ether, Natural’s Not In It; I Found That Essence Rare
Kinda peaceful, kinda boring
Likes: Laughing; Catapult; Sitting Still
Having an album called Destroy Rock & Roll and then delivering an uninspiring, boring, bland album is certainly a choice.
A pretty basic album where Young really doesn’t sound that great here. Surprised this made the list given his lengthy discography.
Likes: Over and Over; Mansion on the Hill
This was really nice! Ray’s voice and the instrumentals all work really well together to create a smooth sound throughout.
Likes: Bye Bye Love; You Don’t Know Me; It Makes No Difference Now; Careless Love
Spooky yet calming
Likes: Pilots; Utopia
I was stressed listening to this
A pleasant listen, but nothing really stands out here.
Likes: What You Do To Me; Star Sign; Guiding Star
An album that really makes you feel and want to care. Everything about this is great: Gaye’s voice, the instrumentals, the way each song flawlessly transitions from one to another, the lyrics and message. No notes.
Likes: What’s Going On; Flyin High; God is Love; Mercy Mercy Me; Inner City Blues
Did I understand what was being said? No. Did that stop me from enjoying this record? Absolutely not! The horns, the keys, the drums, and the vocals all create this fun, engaging, and atmospheric listen. A really good example of music overcoming barriers.
Likes: Plástico; Buscando Guayaba; Pedro Navaja; Maria Lionza; Siembra
A fun easy listen!
Likes: Our Lips Are Sealed; Tonight This Town
Good storytelling, solid flow, great instrumentals, mixed messaging (gangster rap is always hit and miss with me), TERRIBLE skits.
Likes: Gimme the Loot; Machine Gun Funk; Juicy; Big Poppa; Suicidal Thoughts
A pleasant album which seems to be very similar to that of The Beatles’ early albums. Not necessarily a bad thing, but nothing to rave about.
Likes: You Told Me; I’ll Spend My Life With You; You Just May Be The One; No Time
The rabbit hole down YouTube to listen to this is well worth it. The keys, the flutes, Heron’s voice all work so well together to create a cohesive smooth still thematically relevant listen decades after its release.
Likes: Peace Go With You, Brother; Rivers of My Fathers; Back Home; The Bottle; Songs for Bobby Smith; Your Daddy Loves You
Forgetful ambiance music
Likes: I Want You
Entertaining and unique listen but can definitely get repetitive and annoying at times.
Likes: Right Here Right Now; Rockafeller Skank; Praise You
Less chaotic and experimental than their other albums, but I think it still works and is an enjoyable listen.
Likes: Candy Says; What Goes On; Pale Blue Eyes; The Murder Mystery; After Hours
It’s not bad, it’s actually quite enjoyable I thought. My biggest issue is the consistency because it can’t seem to pick a lane when it comes to genres and it comes off as whiplash.
Likes: The Whole Point of No Return; Me Ship Came In; My Ever Changing Moods; You’re The Best Thing
Kind of annoying and whiny, but it does grow on you a little with some re-listens. Overall, doesn’t live up to the hype.
Likes: Gigantic; River Euphrates; Where Is My Mind?
A nice blend of rock, folk, and jazz.
Likes: And It Stoned Me; Moondance; Crazy Love; Caravan; Glad Tidings
Don’t think it lives up to the hype of all his other hits, but still a fun listen.
Likes: Tiny Dancer; Levon; Madman Across the Water
There’s few reasons in my opinion for an album to have a long runtime, and this doesn’t meet those exceptions. The first few songs were actually pretty enjoyable, nothing special, but good background music that blends together, but it starts to take its toll at When the Stars Go Blue.
Likes: New York New York; Firecracker; Answering Bell; The Rescue Blues
Sometimes this works but a lot of times the songs come off as repetitive and un-engaging.
Likes: South Side; Everloving
This worked for me
Likes: Hello; Send My Love; When We Were Young; Remedy; Water Under The Bridge
Funky!
Likes: Maggot Brain; Can You Get To That; Wars of Armageddon
It can get a little monotonous at times. But overall a very jazzy, smooth, and cool listen.
Likes: Excursions; Buggin Out; Butter; Verses From The Abstract; Check The Rhime; Everything Is Fair; Jazz (We’ve Got)
Regardless of language, jazz and hip hop always seem to complement each other.
Likes: Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo; Victime de la mode; Caroline; Bouge de là (Part 1 & 2)
This has always been a favorite of mine: beautiful voice, jazzy instrumentals, and a talent gone too soon.
Likes: Rehab; You Know I’m No Good; Just Friends; Back to Black; Tears Dry on Their Own; He Can Only Hold Her; Addicted
This was probably groundbreaking at the time, but I feel like electronic music has come a long way since then so this doesn’t really do a whole lot for me.
