Nope.
not my tempo
Sometimes I wonder how some of these albums make this list.
Pretty bland Gen X adult contemporary. Had it on as background music in the morning. Wasn’t good, wasn’t bad. Then “JC Hates Faggots” came on…
Hate
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
Boooooring
No
The album was indie music. It was not particularly good and I do not find myself revisiting the album at all. Some of the lyrics were humorous but then there was a song that was just full of slurs which made no sense.
Christ, I really hated this. Sounds like Billy Joel doing a Bowie impression. Derivative crap that was forgotten for a reason. “Marz” is one of the worst songs I’ve heard in a long time. Imagine being influenced by Savoy Truffle but ending up with a song that sounds like a slowed down Porcupine Pie… “Golden champagne, juicy grapefruit, lucky monday High school, football, hot fudge, buffalo, tulip Sunday” 🤮
I found this quite bland and monotonous. In the strict sense of the word: once you hear one Grant melody, I feel like I've heard them all. And the weird vocal treatments emphasise rather than distract from this. Chuck in that I don't generally like ballads, and there wasn't much here to pique my interest. MOR for millennials.
Christ, this was bloody awful. It meant absolutely nothing to me. I came close to bailing after the female warbling over the top of the first track. It's a whimsical album, bed wetting itself over 70's slush pop. Is this really one of the top 1,001 albums to listen to? I finally lost the will after the third track and departed. Bloody awful shit.
Indie inofensivo. Próximo, por favor.
Didnt listen to this tbh
That sucked
This album was so bland and empty. The music wasn’t terrible, but I couldn’t wait for last song to finish. It never evoked any emotion from me. Felt lifeless. 1.
dont know what to make of this. nice dark melodies, but plays like a medieval larping soundtrack. did not like his singing.

1.5. Weird songs and bad lyrics. Didn't like the album cover either
I had never heard of John Grant before today. After doing some reading of his Wikipedia page, I am sympathetic to his difficult life. However, I hate his music. The goofy lyrics were a huge turnoff and every song sounded the same to me. I got to the last track and had to shut it off. It’s a miracle I even made it that far.
Not my bag. Too mellow for my liking. When he tries to be edgy it falls flat.
Lame, sad, like that other guy
Das habe ich vorher schon mal gehört, nur meist besser und mit mehr songschreiberischer Finesse. Ich habe nach zehn Minuten genug gehabt, leider ist das Album eine Stunde und 10 Minuten lang.
naw
This is difficult to write, not wanting to be insensitive to another’s pain, and clearly John Grant has had his share- growing up in a household disapproving of his sexuality, succumbing to substance abuse and its destructive consequences, diagnosed with HIV. That’s a hard row to plow. That said, I believe Queen’s late lead singer, Freddie Mercury, had similar experiences, yet wrote great songs and sang them with searing passion. Would that 'Queen Of Denmark' have shared either of those two qualities. But it didn’t. Not even close. It may be one of the drabbest LPs I’ve ever heard. Near one dimensional, musically, save for a couple of songs in which Grant attempts a bit of a respite, inserting a modicum of humor, albeit unsuccessfully. And lyrically… oh, dear. ‘I feel just like Sigourney Weaver (the song’s title) when she had to kill those aliens and one guy tried to get them back to earth and she couldn’t believe her ears.’ Incredibly, it gets worse. On the final and title track, Grant recalls an incident in which ‘I had it all the way up to my hairline which keeps receding like my self-confidence.’ And that pretty much sums up both Grant’s artistic and, I can only guess, behavioral response to his life situations. One of my all-time favorite bands, Sonic Youth, on ‘Skip Tracer,’ off the 'Washing Machine' LP, describe the live performance of a band they once witnessed where the lead singer, a ‘girl started out in red patent leather, very I’m in a band with knee pads. We watch her fall over and lay down, shouting the poetic truths of high school journal keepers.’ John Grant doesn’t seem to even have the energy to shout his own poetic truths that never matured past the journals he surely kept in high school, and further insults the listener with his lackadaisical delivery. Classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven commented that ‘To sing a wrong note is insignificant, but to sing without passion is unforgivable.’ The only value I can find in this LP is if I heard it while walking around JCP for exercise, it would at least motivate me to move faster out into the main mall where their sound system might be playing any other kind of music.
Who?
Just no.
Marz seems to be a collection of words... that don't go anywhere? And is Marz a place? I guess so.
To be honest, I found this album rather boring
Not my speed
i wanted to like this album then the slurs he as a white man used in jesus hates f*ggots
Disco agradable, novedoso, a primera impresión nada muy espectacular
Trash
Ridiculous Background Choir. Nonsense lyrics without any deeper meaning. Annoying vocals. I would nominate this album for most boring ever. Stopped hearing at Chicken Bones.
Not arsed.
Just words set to the same fairly monotonous background. *
Nope.....First album I couldn't make it through.
So en kackmist
Woof x 3.14
Super funny and quirky. Kind of a show tunes vibe with a lot of piano
